All of MTGSalvation's Moderators, Global Moderators and Administrators are drawn from the community. We rely almost completely on community members stepping up to staff positions in order to function. This is where you come in! If you want to be a mod and think you have what it takes (see below), submit your application here.
We will accept applications for all subforums. However, forums in particular need of mods are listed in this Announcement. Applications for other forums may be declined or held for future consideration if more applications are received than we have open positions.
If your application is turned down for any reason, you are welcome to resubmit it, or submit a new application, at a later date.
What we are looking for in a moderator:
You should be a generally mature, tactful individual.
You should be active in the forum(s) for which you are applying. Promises to be more active if your application is accepted are not sufficient.
You should visit MTGSalvation frequently and be ready to read through your assigned forum(s) daily.
You should have a good knowledge of the Forum Rules and the rules of the subforum(s) you are applying for.
You should be on good (or at least neutral) terms with the mods you will be working with.
You must be at least 18 years of age to apply to moderate Market Street or the Rumor Mill.
If you are applying for an Editor position, you must be a currently active article writer on MTGSalvation who has had at least two recently published articles here.
If you have been suspended for any length of time in the last six months, you may not apply.
Reading through your assigned subforum(s). You are expected to read most, if not all, posts made in your subforum(s) in most cases, although this is not always feasible in some subforums.
Handling reported posts. All reports of posts in your subforum(s) will arrive to your notifications menu. You are expected to deal with them as appropriate, and in consultation with other mods where necessary. It should be noted that knowing how to deal with every possible situation is not expected - difficult situations can always be put to the mod lounge for comment.
Dealing with problematic posts that have not been reported as you find them.
Improving your subforum(s). Some subs are very straightforward and this will not be required, but others have special threads, events and so forth that require moderators. Furthermore, any ideas to make the subforum more interesting, sensible, productive or similar are always appreciated.
Some subforums have additional moderator duties that you should be aware of before applying. For example, Market Street moderators handle bad trader reports, and Rumor Mill moderators are responsible for spoiler upkeep. Contact a moderator of the subforum in question if you are unsure.
Although it is by no means required, all staff are welcome to participate in discussion of issues put to the mod lounge (whether they be site-wide or subforum-specific), or begin such a discussion themselves.
