Finally got around to playing this deck with my playgroup over the weekend. There were five of us at the table. Stonebrow, Krosan Hero and Pheres-Band Warchief are as good a combo as I'd hoped. Courser of Kruphix added a lot of pressure to the table and was quickly dispatched the two times I was able to get it out. Banishing Light and Boros Charm both played well for removal and protection. All in all I felt this was a pretty solid deck.
Here's my first crack at a multiplayer centaur deck. I really like the interaction between Pheres-Band Warchief and Stonebrow, Krosan Hero. Would really like help from the community on making this an awesome deck. I tried to keep the cost of this deck down by using more recent cards.
Multiplayer Merfolk is a really fun deck to play with lots of variety. You might thin the number of Merfolk and balance out the deck a bit. Here's my current Multiplayer Merfolk deck for comparison. Islandwalking Wake Thrasher is usually the win condition. This deck performs very well against my playgroup.
Here's my mono green squirrel deck for reference. I played this tonight and got a really good opening hand and went infinite on turn 3 with Earthcraft and Squirrel Nest.
I'd definitely consider adding 4 Parallel Lives as this deck really relies on pumping out as many squirrel tokens as fast as possible to overwhelm your opponents.
Cz, this is the sort of deck I'd play with caution and pull out maybe once a year at best. I'm rotating about 20 or so decks right now of various levels (from a powerhouse Eldrazi to a twelve dollar Zendikon deck). The last thing I want to do is make people rage quit, especially when three of the people I play with are my brothers and son :).
Thanks for the advise guys. This is my current build. I want to stay B/G for now. Added 3 Hero's Downfall. My group is starting to play with more Planeswalkers and I think I'll need the added protection.
I did a lot of research before posting this. I came up pretty empty handed as far as good posts about multiplayer Dark Depths decks. I thought posting this would help other people out as well. This deck sounds like a fun one to throw in my rotation. Want to keep my group on their toes.
Here's my preliminary B/G Dark Depths multiplayer deck. My group is usually around six people. I'm looking for help with the filler cards to help keep me alive long enough to pick people off with Dark Depths.
I for one can attest that a box of all rares did indeed happen in the early days of Magic. I purchased a "God Box" (all rares) of Ice Age from a store called Nibbles and Bytes (now defunct) in Tacoma, WA back when the expansion first came out. It was a thing of beauty!
Attended a M14 pre-release yesterday. M14 limited is very fun with tons of variety. Festering Newt/Bubbling Cauldron combo, Slivers/Door of Destinies, Planeswalkers all over the place. Not sure why people complain...
