  • posted a message on Worldwide (?) BFZ Fatpack shortage?
Who knows why Wizard short changed some shop/distributes. Maybe because some of these shops often have discounted sales on older set fatpacks... have history of holding back stock?

I think it is good that some stock has a limited run. BFZ boosters (box) will be printed on demand in the season so this is a way to get full arts. I got a fair amount just at prerelease events. Surprised Fat packs are at chain retailers in the states. They are listed as limited run on the WPN. Shops raising their prices of fat packs is no different to Modern Masters boxes.. rising prices due to demand and because of the single sales prices of cards in set. Folks buying up their land reserves possibly for their gaming life means that seal product sales of future fat packs, land stations and deck builder kits will be at risk. Heaven help the sets after BFZ... unless wizards keeps the ball rolling with promos like expeditions or special fatpack inserts or lands the momentum will be lost.

Nice primer. Thanks for the effort.

Unfortunately, you still have links to outdated information. In particular around byes for GPs. The official GP bye page you have linked is now archived and replaced with this document, specifically around page 23 http://wpn.wizards.com/sites/wpn/files/attachements/mtg_peip-15_15apr20_en_0.pdf

I got my hopes up LOL. You can only get 1 or 2 round byes with planeswalker points now. Need 1300 in a season for 1 and 2500 in a season for 2 byes.

No chance or very limited chance goblin guide will be in MM2017. MM2017 will focus on innistrad block and maybe return to ravnica. With modern and particular after the pod bannings you hear and generally I think to say that the land packs for archetypes are tight. I think the free open scry to counter the spend of GG is good but the free draw of a land card (if exposed) is not so good as it can help fix mana. Seen it happen a few times where the draw from the GG helps the opponent out to fix their mana and stablise. If you can get two or three GG on the fly it is very fast and can counter act that considering the tradition wrath play does not get much run on the current competitive meta... or seems that way. Spot removal rules.

I have not played competitive burn for a while but I have always favoured Vexing Devil over Goblin Guides. I have seen Guides lose close to as much as they have won with the free land draw for a player. I have no statistics but a single guide on the board seems weak.
Strength of vexing devil is that it usually does 4 straight away if the player does not have removal. If they do have removal it stays and they are forces to use it as it is a large threat.
T1 VD, T2 Swift spear and bolt is harder on a player than T1 GG T2 Swift spear and bolt.

Just my take. If price of goblin guide is too high and no reprint in BFZ, Vexing Devil is a valid replacement. Will get a reprint in MM 2017 for sure.

Still can organise them that way... perhaps have a tab with just Seeded Rares... so would list the known randomised rares in pack. This is the only data some are interested in. As ALL seeded packs are listed, some unverifiable, it is extremely hard to determine what possible rares there are in the seeded packs.

I have been following your threads for all prereleases. I am keen collector and I am solely interested in what the rares in the seeded packs are. The way your constructed your spreadsheet for KTK is perfect! Can you please update the earlier sheets to be like this? And use it for future ones?

Okay so I made my mono version testing out the GP Brisbane version and using cards like Magma Jet and FotBH. I have to say I was very impressed and went 4-1 at my FNM losing to R2 to Merfolk due to poor SBing in Game 2 and not mulliganing in Game 3. I feel that with standard hands Merfolk has the potential to be a touch match. I played BW tokens, M Pod, Slivers and USA Affinity. I smashed all before me. It felt SO good against Pod.

I am not sold on GG. I know what a beginning handful does but the competitive decks are SO streamlined that lands are a premium. I truly feel GG < VD. So for my revised deck will have -4 GG -1 Blood Moon and +4 VD +1 Ensnaring Bridge. I love ensnaring bridge as a card as when the match goes beyond 5-6 rounds I can stop their attackers with my empty hand.

I still think BRx is doable and is possibly better for some match ups over Mono Red but it feels clunky. BRW while it looks good it just not as consistent IMHO.

@Shenanigasm WD. I too was at GP Brisbane and ran my BRx Burn. I have to confess that I can see how your deck did so well in the meta and how my deck saw me go 0-3 then drop. I did bounce back and win the bounce back modern event 4-0.

I still think splash B is doable with 8 fetches and with out shard volley 19 lands is 1 too many.

I constantly ran out of gas in my Pod, Junk and Jund matches. I ran Rakdos charm over volcanic fallout and regret this as affinity with arcbound ravenger plays around Rakdos Charm.

You should consider ensnaring bridge. It does not do damage but at 0 cards you are topdrawing for the for win. You play white life gain?

I am fairly sure it will end up on YouTube. I am heading in to the city to line up for rego. I hope to get the bye win at the gpt.

I am happy where my burn deck stands for gp Brisbane in less than 48 hour. Believe it or not after singing the praises of VD I am unsure... I have changed my view on GG based on forum feedback so I have stuck 12 creatures in. 4 GG, 4VD and 4 DRS.

For long games I would like to have 2 GLM but thre is no room in SB so I am considering dropping 4 VD and adding 2GLM and 2 more burn spells. Not sure.

So what creatures, besides vexing devils, goblin guides, and lavamancers, would fit in a burn deck? I have toyed with the idea of stromblood beserker because in burn, we are doing damage anyway, and he has psuedo evasion. what do you think?

In my mind, there are only 4 creatures to consider, drs, glm, vd and gg. 16 is too many creatures for burn. I like 10-12.

U also need to read the op. creatures and the concept of the deck is discussed there. This burn not rdw.

Great idea to go green over white. Solves my headaches. I think anti artefact is great as tron and affinity are a real threat... Even pod cops it.

People run BRW for white's enchantment removal, Leyline of Sanctity is a card that is very common in sideboard nowadays, if they have this card down on turn 1 is basically good game for a BR burn, but if your running white and least you still have some enchantment removal spells avaliable.

As for the lands, Mmmm still thinking about it.

You are kidding right? Hex proof auras might but in this season LoS has rare play in top 8. I am going to go back to br.

I am not sold on the gg versus vd argument. I have lost games due to gg giving card advantage to a player. Also, if you run 18 lands and/or 3 colours drs is superior to glm. I in my brw deck I regularly us drs to produce mana. As down under suggested 2:1 to 3:1 is the right ratio of drs to glm.
I am still not sold on br or brw. Though, with the current meta and the rise of jund, I am going to remove enchantment hate from sideboard. Extremely few decks that make the top 8 run leyline of sanctity. With no need for enchantment hate smaller need for brw.
