    Quote from Umezete

Junk is called that because of a deck built in lorwyn that was GWB and almost all rares. It was called several things like doran rock, doran junk, etc but the junk term stuck for that color combination.

Junk is way older than Lorwyn.

I come for the Magic, but I stay for the King Pun threads.

    On topic:

Finding something you enjoy doing can help in dealing with depression.

  • posted a message on Are the Selesnya-aligned cards in RtR super rare or what?
What more do you want said other than "sorry about your luck?"

As with every other set in recent Magic, all commons are equally rare, all uncommons are equally rare, all rares are equally rare, and all mythics are equally rare.

    Quote from AdamM
As said, this would lead to a penalty if you were ever deck-checked. Having 8 sleeved delvers off to the side is not only over the 4 card limit, its not in your deck, and you are using them for a specific, unsportsmanlike purpose. I sincerely hope one day when you are near to winning one of these said tournaments, you get checked out and DQ'd for it.

I see no issue with having extra tokens with you (including ones your deck doesn't produce), because if your opponent is going to try to put you on a deck based solely off a pile of tokens you are carrying, they deserve what they get. However, if you have DFC's sleeved up with your deck, and you aren't playing them....to me thats low and clearly shows your lack of confidence in your play skills and deck if you are resorting to that kind of tactic.

How is having a stack of un-related, not-in-your-deck cards sitting out a penalty?

  • posted a message on Angels? Can they do any good?
Not to mention the best angel in standard, Restoration Angel, can't even blink other angels. So not only is there no benefit to running an Angel tribal deck, there is actually a deterrence to it. I do not think Wizards wanted an Angel tribal deck in standard.

The staff's "image" is most improved when the best possible decisions are made, which may at times requires rigorous debate. And typically, when the debate is most heated, is when that debate is most necessary.

No doubt. But at this point this thread as devolved into a "he said, she said" fest. There is a lot of pointless arguing going on here and not so much constructive debate.

The following question was posed by an anonymous user to the staff:

"Can the Gutter show and prove how over the past 7 years its presence has enhanced and promoted MTGS Site and the MTGS "community" as a whole in a positive light that encourages participation by individauls, families and other entities affiliated with the game whether it be ona casual or professional level and hwo a continued presence of the Gutter would be of futre benefit to the site?"

i think it is an interesting question to have answered and I would appreciate some commentary on this from members of the gutter.

I am completely willing to change my mind and throw my support behind The Gutter based entirely on the answer to this question...

Forum member comes in and expresses opinion against The Gutter or in support of the Mods: "You're dumb/uninformed/too new. Your opinion doesn't count."

Member of the Mod team comes in to answer questions and explain their reasoning: "You're corrupt/biased/slandering us. Your opinion doesn't count."

Seems the only opinions worth anything in this thread currently are those of the members of The Gutter.

At this point I think the decision has been made. This thread should probably be closed. Nothing constructive is coming out of it; just mud-slinging from both sides. If the reasonable/civil members of The Gutter want to start a thread to petition for the repeal of this issue, fine; but right now nothing positive is going to come out of this particular thread.

I think this is an issue the Mod team is just going to have to take a hard-line stance on and say "We are the administrative team of this website and we made a decision that we believe is for the better of the forums. The end." That is what I'd like to see at this point. Seeing current Mods and Admins arguing with forum members and past-staff members is really hurting their image.

Good. After reading the reactions and posts of those involved with "The Gutter" in this thread, I fully support its closing.

Could i see a screenshot of the problem? My report button has the triangle and the word report next to it,

It may be a cache issue. Ctrl+f5 should help if that is the case.

Here's what it looks like on mine.

  • posted a message on Are the 2013 creatures less cheap?
Yes, it looks like not only creatures but the set in general is underpowered/over-costed; however you want to view it. Generally I view this as a positive sign for where Standard is headed allowing for more balance and variety of top-tier decks.

  • posted a message on Is it worth it?
You should go if it's close enough. Don't go with the expectation of winning or anything like that. Just go to have fun. Big tournaments like that are a fun atmosphere. Maybe it will help you to meet new players in your area so you can expand your playgroup. You can do side events too, or just watch some of the more high-profile matches. As long as you go with realistic expectations, you'll have a blast!

  • posted a message on [[Official]] Trade Evaluation -- Pile A versus B
    Quote from Darkzephyr
    Hey Guys,

I made a mistake on last night's trade.

    It should be as follows;

    Pile A
    Natural Order ------ 40 27
    Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker 11.5 9.5
    Goblin Lackey--- ----- $7 4.8
    Goblin PileDriver ------ $12 $10
    Goblin Matron 0 0
    Siege-Gang Commander $1 0.4
    Stomping Grounds (EX) $15 $12
    ----------------------- 86.5 63.7

    Pile B
Linvala, Keeper of Secrets--- 7 6.3
    Kitchen Finks ----------- 8 6.49
    2x DD Swords to Plowshares-- 8 5.2
    Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary-- 15 12
    Damnation (Player's Reward)-- 30 19.5
    Massacre Wurm x2------ 7 $4
Knight of Reliquary -Conflx--- $10 8.5
    --------------------------- 85 61.99

I used TCG Mid and Low and reduced the EX cards by 25% of their appropriate prices in each section.

I think it's a decent deal, or fair at least, but I forgot to add the Knights of the Reliquary from Conflux, so I wanted to see if that changed anyone's opinion of this trade.

Looks fair value wise. Whoever gets Pile A is trading up to a NO but also getting a lot of cards that are only useful in one deck (Legacy Goblins). This really just comes down to how bad whoever gets pile A wants to build/play goblins.

  • posted a message on Poll: Should Wizards release a pronunciation guide with each new set?
I don't think it's that important and I don't think a lot of people would even care about the "correct" pronounciations. If it's a real-world word, then yes I think people should try to pronounce these words correctly; but it is not up to Wizards to provide a dictionary with each of their set releases.

If the word is made up by Wizards for the flavor of the set, then I feel it should be up to the player to decide how they want to pronounce it. That's the whole point of flavor isn't it? To let each person imagine the set-world as they see it? If someone thinks a character name, or any other made-up-word sounds cooler pronounced a different way, then that's fine with me; so long as an argument can be made for pronouncing it that way based on the spelling.

Some basics of the game are still pronounced differently by players. Example: mana; some players say "man-ah" and some players say "mon-ah." Frankly, it doesn't matter to me. Whatever they think sounds best/more flavorful.

  • posted a message on [[Official]] Are there any players/places to play in ______ ?
I have lived in Germany for the last 1 and a half years. There are lots of places to play and buy. Most of your questions seem to have been answered already - but the Store/Event locater on the mothership works internationally. Once you know exactly where you will be staying you should check that area out on there. It will show you all the places you can buy MtG and where events are being held!
