Thanks for the gamepack update! Was just starting to organize the new cards and try to figure out what I'm doing for decks. This'll be a huge help. I drew two Ral Zareks in one box and am stoked to finally accept planeswalkers into my life. It's going to be glorious.

Back to topic: No pressure but I was wondering if you had any idea when you might be shooting for the next release update of The Vault? Looking forward to easier handling/organization of the sets in filter. A new thought as well, what do you think of adding a synergize button to the deck builder side? Player customized so that when you select a card and click synergize it brings up a list of all the cards that you (the player) told it worked well together in the past. I know I have some trouble remembering them all. =P Might be useful if the right-click dialogue included 'set synergize' while card browsing incase something occurs to you/us and we want to compare and mull over those cards together later on.

Thanks again for the hard work!

Well for some reason when I installed Comodo Firewall/Internet Security and allowed The Vault access it started giving me the OK button. Very strange. Though I'm not entirely certain how/why Comodo is taking over many functions, I'm pleased with that result at least.

New issue however. When I tried to load a deck it gave me an exception error as follows:

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Owc11, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
    File name: 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Owc11, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c'

I uninstalled MS office recently. Does The Vault really require such a file and if so I suggest you find a way around it due to many users avoiding MS like the plague.

May you post a screen capture of your option window? You should have a Ok button zt the bottom... Pleasr do not edit cfg files, because you are not supposed to do it (the vault does it for you) and you can corrupt the software stability, in case of mistake.

Included below. I normally wouldn't modify files manually but it was the only way to make it work, as I never had an OK button and thus could never save the settings.

Concerning your last remark, sets are sorted given their release date from the newest to the oldest. I can make this sorting customable: sort by name, set code or release date, show promotionals only etc.

On last question: are you using the vault on a windows xp server? It may entail bugs in display (like the ok/start button)

Sorting by name, set code, release date, and set type would be the most useful I think (i.e. by block, promotional, special releases like planes or schemes). Looking forward to that update. =)

I am not set up as a server and never have been. Thanks again for taking the time and sorry for the late reply, been out of town a bit.

For the love of all that is holy in this world, can you please make the set list in the filter window alphabetized? It's a real pain hunting down specific sets at the moment. Much appreciated. ^^

A few things that were never really resolved before, and who knows, might be related to the issues other folks are having though I doubt it.

Still have two 'Settings' folders, one mostly empty, the other full of setting files that I have to manually update in a text editor in order for the settings to save properly.

There is no OK button in the Options Menu

OK Button at splash screen (where you choose what game) appears buggy. One time it is black and empty, second time loading recently it has a few lines of blue running along the bottom and the rest is white. Dunno what is going on there.

    Running WinXP service pack 3.

Save/load of decks appears to be working properly.

Still cannot change settings inside of The Vault and have them stick.

Any suggestions about how I can diagnose the issue or help you figure it out are appreciated.

Do you experience any error message when clicking on the "OK" button in Option Menu ? Do you have an error message before modifying the preferences ? Did you modify the name of any folders in the Vault folder ?

I used to run the program on XP SP3 and I never encountered such an issue...
I definitely want to find why it's not working properly on your system.

Hahaha, that might explain something. There is no "OK" button within the Options Menu itself, I've always had to close it via the top right 'x' button. Also there are two settings folders, one at C:\Program Files\The Vault\games\Magic the Gathering\data\settings and the other at C:\Program Files\The Vault\data\settings. All of the settings files are inside the games\...\settings folder and the other one is primarily empty except for a 'FP_WindowSize.cfg'. Oh, didn't change any of the folder names myself, let the install program handle it completely.

I've tinkered with a number of MTG programs now and this is the first obvious flaws I've encountered that weren't consistent on other people's machines.

One other thing, I peeked inside the cards.xml and found the three-digit code for each of the set directories but I see many of them are only two digits. Based upon my research I can only assume you are using the codes supplied by http://magiccards.info/ as opposed to http://gatherer.wizards.com/ which I find semi-confusing. Certainly the three-digit ones fail in one regard (COM isn't allowed in Windows as a folder name though I discovered a work around), but I was under the impression the three-digit ones were more accurate/used by Wizards of the Coast themselves. Any clarification, or the option to switch to the three-digit ones would be appreciated. Thanks again for all your hard work and let me know if I can help compile a list or something.

Slight edit: It seems the codes come in two and three digit, so I've been working to set them up properly. Still I hope to find the reason behind that missing OK button. ^^

    Hello !

Are you sure you run the program as administrator? Does the program write some files in the ./Magic the Gathering/data/settings folder?
Actually, you are not supposed to modify those files manually... The option interface is supposed to do it for you! Smile
You are the first one to report an issue concerning saving preferences...

I'm running Win XP sp3, ancient but solid machine. I figured it wasn't common when I didn't see any postings about it. Everytime I go into the menus and attempt to change anything, nothing stays set once I leave the preferences menu. Doing it by hand has yielded some results, but I just can't figure out how to uncheck the setcode-destination box. As an alternative, what is the proper pathing it is looking for? (Administrator isn't necessary, or at least, I always am and it has never been an issue in the past.) Thanks for the help. I can't really tell if it is writing anything since the files do not change at all, but I don't have anything restricting my ability to write over files so far as I can tell. Thanks again.

So I figured out from checking out other programs that some use the three-digit code for the set and now I have gatecrash loading it's images properly. Still, if you happen to think of why it isn't saving the options I'd appreciate any info.

Forgive me if I foul up my first attempt to touch a forum in at least a decade, but I'm trying to configure The Vault v0.5 and the preferences will not save within the program. I've managed to get some of the .full token images loaded in, but I believe I'm being defeated by the checkbox for Setcode-named directory for each set. I went into the settings files and manually changed each one so that it reflected the options I needed (10 crop, ID or Name, paths to pictures(was stuck on e:\) and extension .full.jpg) The tokens work, but I can't figure out how to deselect the checkbox for the named directories and no combination has worked out thus far. Thanks for your time, already spreading the word on this awesome mtg app.
