It's been almost a month since anybody posted, thought I'd pop in and say hello to everybody Smile I've been in Oregon for 3 weeks, just got back on Sunday, and I start working again at the corn maze tomorrow and Saturday... and I'm applying for a bunch of other jobs, so we'll see how it all goes... I'm trying to work through my novel and finish it before I have to start a new one for NaNoWriMo... Also, trying to get the wheels moving to start graduate school in library science... In order to do that, I need to take my GRE... In order to do THAT, I need to study for it.... on top of writing my book, prepping for my new book, applying for jobs, and working at the corn maze...

It's a little bit insane right now... :p

Hey Stuff, it's great to see ya in here.. So i have some bad news... I got rejected for the Department of Defense job.. HOWEVER , i DID get a job at the local corn maze- that's temporary however, and i have NO idea how much I'll be making just yet.. My first day is Friday.

I also need to fly home for 2 1/2 weeks to help my mother recover from a hysterectomy procedure to remove some precancerous cells from her uterus.. so I'm going to be taking care of her while she recovers from that.. A lot of stuff kind of came down on my head all at once, sooo yeah.. Fun.

Hope everyone else is doing better these days...

Hey fellas! I'm BAAAAAAAAAACK Grin Sorry I haven't been around much lately...but this morning I was groggily waking up and not looking forward to making phone calls to the credit agency and the rental office, for maintenance issues...

Meanwhile I'm STILL waiting on the government job... I flew to MD early this month for the polygraph and psych consult, and when I got back, according to my friends who also work for that same branch, they all said it'd be about 2-4 weeks/a month before i heard whether i have to fly to MD again and retake the poly... (it was kind of ridiculous... they thought I had done drugs, when in actuality i swear, i've never touched the stuff!) and so i might have to take it again, which apparently isn't that big a deal cuz most people have to retake it at least once, and they allow you to, no problem... but sheesh. I didn't lie about anything! Sooo yeah. We'll have to see. But yeah, I came back and asked my HR rep about how much longer it'd be before i heard about the next step, and he said "expect to hear from us again in 2 months" TWO MONTHS!??!?!? AGH! That means I won't hear anything until OCTOBER?! But my boyfriend made a point, that it might just be "UP TO two months" ... which is what I'm hoping.... and cuz I have a lot of credit accounts from when i was young and stupid in college, not paying off all my hospital bills... so my Dad paid off a big chunk of them but apparently i still have two or three more that i had no idea about, that i need to call them again today and make sure they send me the forms so i can fax them to the gov't and etc....OY.

Meanwhile, I got a canvas letter from a public library in the area, from when I took that civil service exam back at the end of April, and so I intend to apply for that, so I just need to wait for them to contact me about an interview... I sent it early last week, so maybe I'll call them again today too.

Well that's pretty much what's going on with me... Hope everyone's doing well:)

I promise to check back in more often Smile

To Purple- I just saw Toy Story 3 last weekend and I have to admit, it was AWESOME Grin Grin I loved it Smile It just dealt with Toy Story's entire story arc absolutely perfectly Grin

Hope everyone else is doing well and that your 4th was equally as great Smile Myself, I'm relaxing at home and just waiting for the gov't to get back to me about my job so obviously I'm a little nervewracked :p

Well, not enough people were consistent with it, so Yukora stuck a fork in it and declared it dead Frown

As for the NHL stuff.. I didn't follow it, but my boyfriend certainly knew about it.. I didn't have the channels it was on though..

I made some BBQ chicken last night... Great recipe- put two bottles of bbq sauce, two sticks of melted butter and a dash or two of Honey Brown beer... Damn good sauce if I say so myself... We're bringing some of it with us tonight for the finals game..

Oh.. and I GOT A CONDITIONAL JOB OFFER from the Gov't in Maryland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grin Grin Grin Grin

Edit: Congrats to Purple on the 100th post:D

Oooh awesome, about the car, Ally! Grin

And PURPLED!!!!! It's awesome to see you back! Of course you have my eager sponsorship :p I'm hoping maybe we'll all become a bit more active... things have been busy for me so i haven't popped in as much as I used to, but hopefully with more activity that ought to improve Grin

Well, tonight is the final NBA finals game, Boston Celtics vs. L.A. Lakers.. Personally I'm rooting for the Celtics.. since I love Boston and all. We're going out to get some beer for the game and stuff to mix with for a dip to munch on during the game, plus some salad dressing since I forgot to pick some up yesterday when I went shopping.

Anyway, I need to pee then we're going to the store.. I'll pop my head back in here when i get back Grin

Good night, though if I don't get a chance to say hello again before tomorrow Grin

that's true, Starr.. it does have a lot of history and its really difficult to (for me anyhow) whittle all that down....

For me, the image that comes up is a place that kinda mixes together a few coffeeshops in my history.. One was an internet cafe in downtown Medford (my hometown in Oregon) that has long since shut its doors.. it was always great cuz I would stop in there after school and hang out there until I walked to the public library to be picked up by my mom... It had computers, comfy couches, amaaaaaaaaaazing cheesecake.. it was light and airy too, a lot o' windows, with a back room for the computers.

Yet another spot that kinda comes to mind, and was always kind of the epitome of the coffeehouse was Java's in downtown Rochester, my college town and where I live now. It was a classic artsy type of cafe, lots of organic sandwiches, and crazy decor, art and mirrors on the walls, real dark and intimate... a steel bar that you ordered the greatest drinks at.. My favorite was a Terrapin, a kind of caramel, hazelnut coffee drink with pleeeenty of whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles on top. Ryan and I went there a couple times and always kind of toasted each other in honor of the CoffeeHouse..

Then again, there never quite seems to be one that completely fits what I see the coffeehouse being.... I imagine a wide open space (like the internet cafe) with plenty of room to talk to each other, conversations being thrown across the room, Alacar manning the diabolical cappucino machine, a huge list behind the counter written in chalk (like Java's) and everyone just feeling completely at home in one or another comfy armchair or beanbag, like PurpleD... and who could forget some of the antics under those invisible blankets by the fire.... (that's another thing... warm cozy fireplace too)...

Its amazing the amount of memories we have here, and the things I can imagine happening, even if they never "physically" happened... Grin

btw Starr.. you and I were one of the first to meet up in real life.. Was i what you imagined when you met me? Always been curious- and maybe we talked about this before lol. but its fun to recall Smile

I agree w/ you about the random cuteness... I think if i revamp, I'll remove that portion completely, the holiday parts, that makes sense too..

    What items seem awkward?

And why wouldn't it be a good idea to keep the titles that have been there since the beginning?

Heh good morning all.... A chai latte? sure thing Smile Here you go Smile *hands Chai Latte* Hope you enjoy!

I wouldn't mind sprucing up the first post but I really wouldn't know where to start... Alacar has usually helped me with that kind of thing in the past... i don't know where he got off saying "I'm sure Danica can take care of it.. she's good at that kind of thing" :p

Give me some suggestions all, and when i have a free moment i can try to do something about it..

Hey folks... Just finished watching my TV shows of the night.. yeah, folks, I know we need to revamp stuff.. but I'm kind of an old reminiscer about the days of old... I'm a sentimental softie, what can I say... :p

oh and is anyone interested in buying my cards?? i'm kinda hard up for cash nowadays and wouldn't mind getting rid of my whole lot.

    Thoughts??

I'm here and accounted for as well! First post cake to SGT Chubbz Grin Congrats Smile

Nice to hear you're still trading, Starr... Seems you're still doing well now, with living in Canada on terms of Magic Smile Is there much difference in the Magic reign from the States vs Canada?

I've been playing a lot of golf lately... I'm going to kick myself for doing this but I found an awesome set of new ladies, lefty clubs for 200 dollars and since I'm gonna be playing a lot more often, I want to have a good set Smile Sooo we're just hangin' out then going to the golf store in a bit to pick up my new clubs, then going to the driving range to try 'em out Grin
