anyone thought of a sub for rewind yet?
it's not coming 10th. personaly i think delay is doing fine in the treditional dralnu gameplay. everything get countered anyway, sooner or later... ^^ with delay it's just later...
In addition to the Ghost Quarter build I posted a couple days ago, my team is also looking at a very fast and aggressive build of Boros. Here's the list we're going to be working on:
One of my friends is advocating this version. I like Reckless Charge, and it gives the deck the potential to deal a lot of damage very early in the game. Turn 1 Kird Ape, turn 2 Isamaru + Charge = 7 damage. Right now, I think the Ghost Quarter build might be more consistent, but I don't know at this point. Mistral Charger replaces Silver Knight since it has evasion, can be targeted by Charge, and there are fewer Lava Darts running around now with Boros on the decline, so a 1 toughness isn't the dagger it was before.
i thought of the Reckless Charge some time ago, but i just think it too dependent on having other cards (creatures)... but in this version i really think it fits... BUT... even though being a flying creature, Mistral Charger is not the best alternative, the soltari priest i can understand, but i would have gone with Goblin Leggionaire instead of Mistral Charger, but that's my meaning... brilliant deck i must say... maybe some Armadillo Cloak??
This deck is suppose to keep the other player under control until it triggers. This deck use cards like condescend and Mana Short to keep this factor up... it IS true that this is a slow and dependent deck and it has it weaknesses but if you can stalk your opponent until the act of balance takes action you got a good and very COMPETITIVE deck.
HEY! i would just like to sa that this is a powerful deck in many ways, but the fascinating combo of Academy Ruins and Mindslaver is just incredible and it fits the deck-type!
In the majority of BDW lists that I see, I rarely ever see Char. Is it just too slow to consider or is the additional life loss too dangerous?
no! the Char is not a slow card... never, ever mind self-inflicted loss of life when playing a straight aggro/burn-deck... The best rated BWD-deck in worlds was carrying three Char... Char is a very effective card in all aggro/burn-decks, the small amount of life lost is nothing if the opponent looses two times as much... It's the same with the fetches... It's no big deal to play the fetch, loose one life, fetch a sacred foundry play it untapped and loose two more, as long as you can play our loverly "beast of Konda, Isamaru" that can in a few strokes repay the dmg lost.
Jutun Grunt is not maindeck, at least not for the ones we call pro-ppl.
1. It got large and important dissynergi with both Barbarian Ring and Grim Lavamancer
2. It just takes too much place of the deck... you can't have too much creatures in BDW, it destroys the good "aggro-burn-control" balance of the deck...
As a preface - I don't know Boros inside and out, but I do have a damn good knowledge of Magic.
Now, that knowledge tells me that in a deck that is built for killing your opponent within the first handful of turns, that a spell that effectively costs 4 to play, (2 to play, 2 to equip) and at best doesn't yield any benefit toward the ultimate goal of your deck (which is quickly killing your opponent) until the following turn is not only bad, but it's absolutely awful.
Like I said before, Jitte is more of a control card, not aggro.
we know this deck, and even if in your version of this deck the Bonesplitter is quick enough, it isn't in the competitive version. Neither is Jitte so there shouldn't be any argumenting. They are both dependent of a creature to be any use, and BDW isn't a mainly creature-based deck, and that's what makes Jitte and Bonesplitter slow cards, because even without creatures BWD can really be a fast deck, and to maintain that abillity you can't fill deck-space with creature-dependent cards.... that's really what an multi-aggro deck is all about...
Grunt is very powerful, but it has some serious anti-synergy with Lavamancer and Barbarian Ring.
True indeed, and Lavamancer and Barbarian Ring are of course much more important factors in this deck.
but...about sideboard for this deck considering the extended meta-game today, what is really the ultimate SB?
And most BDW decks play four copies of at least two of the above mentioned cards. Blood Knight might be able to block those Savannah Lions and Isamaru, Hound of Kondas if they were in a White Weenie deck. Too bad BDW plays red.
This is why Silver Knight is in the SB! You have to understand that there are other good decks on the competetive decklist as well, and there is much more white decks than red deck: AzoriusTron, No Stick, Slide, and Trinket Angels...
BDW is almost the only good one with red as main colour!
(you can't base a deck build on nirror matches!)
We are suppose to talk about tounement cuality here on this topic, and then you got to consider the other competitive decks!
The Blood Knight is not prefered in BDW because of it's abillities to kill weenies as Isamaru or Savannah Lions! It's prefered because threre are more big white creatures that red and it's then much more resistant, and have you noticed that red is the MAIN colour of BWD? A double white is much harsher than a double red in this deck, obviously.
ok i might buy that, but don't you say that pillage is a dead card in ex, because it isn't and
what is to replace pillage btw? it's a waste to use both flames and
Char in tha same deck, right?
maybe Pulse? i vote Pulse...
Pillage isn't tempo card rightnow. Boro has kicked them off.
Land destruction is a powerful allied against almost every deck and it buys you time so I just whanna know; why not use PILLAGE? :P...
i know it dosen't kill anything, but land destruction is important...
or maybe the right word to use is overkill? anyway, granade is not worth ringleader by far...

i know i am! i really got the hang of it and can really be fast.
i got a really great SB and i think i can do wel.
True indeed, and Lavamancer and Barbarian Ring are of course much more important factors in this deck.

and add Blood Knight instead of his shiny cousin, you have the ultimate boros deck! it is the best rated deck in worlds (it sort of won... :P).
