I am doing a similar battle box. I have 10 decks that represent each Ravnica guilds. But it's not just a representation of the guilds but also different MTG competitive strategies. It is also in the budget side, so mostly commons/uncommons. Each deck does run a "marquee" (rare/mythic) spell and an appropriate legendary creature.
I have the following guild/archetypes:
U/W: [[Isochron scepter]] control with the marquee spell as [[Terminus]]. Your basic control deck.
U/B: [[Standstill]] based Draw/Go control that messes with your opponent's head rather than straight up controlling the board. Runs spells like [[Fact or Fiction]] and tons of permission. The ultimate bluff deck.
B/R: [[Reanimator]] "combo" deck. The classic
R/G: "Zoo" aggro/burn deck. Undercosted beaters like [[Kird Ape]] and burn as finishers.
G/W: basic Ramp midrange deck that runs [[Enlisted Wurm]] and [[Llanowar Sentinel]]s to gain board advantage.
W/B: monarch midrange deck. I based this deck from Junk decks that run discard, removal and creatures that gain incremental advantage.
U/R: [[Peregrine Drake]]+[[Archaeomancer]]+[[Ghostly Flicker]] combo deck. I wanted to create a combo deck that is akin to a solitaire game play. It is mostly in the battle box as means to teach new players about combo decks.
B/G: [[Tortured Existence]] midrange dredge deck. I wanted to have a deck that runs a dedicated engine card.
R/W: Soldier matters "tribal" aggro deck.
G/W: Tempo deck. This is actually the deck that I am not set on how to build. It will be a Tempo deck but I still can't decide whether I should build it around [[Delver of Secrets]], [[Lorescale Coatl]] or evolve creatures. In my deck box, this is still under construction. It used to be an Infect Tempo deck but it doesn't play well in multiplayer which what the battle box is played half of the time.
I hope my ideas help you with your own battle/duel deck ideas. Good luck.
Good. Time to get back into Standard. So ends the worse period of the format since Caw (the period defined as the bans from Copter onward), and hopefully all the big announced changes on the horizon will keep the meta diverse for the foreseeable future.
I actually enjoyed Caw-Blade standard. It sucked because everyone played it but the mirror was so skill intensive. But then this was before Batterskull.
1, T: Put a charge counter on Brain in a Bottle, you may cast an instant or sorcery spell with converted mana cost equal to the number of charge counters on Brain in a Bottle from your hand without paying its mana costs.
3, T: Remove X charge counters from Brain in a Bottle: Scry X.
I want to push Midrange in Green. Right now, my green creatures consists of : mana elves, cheap beatdown creatures and over the top late game creatures.
I don't really have any in between guys, around 3-4 casting cost dudes that actually have utility. The only things that come to mind are Phantom Centaur (great against control) and Eternal Witness. I also want to tie this in with G/W as I don't really have an archetype for it.
In white, I have support for midrange creatures but looking for suggestions for green ones.
Also, would you guys put (green/white specific) creatures that just shuts down certain archetypes?
glimpse of nature (this is if you feel like paying 25$ per copy, not very budget friendly)
here is one version, not that much white and disruption but you can go either way you want, this combo: nykthos, shrine to nyx + voyaging satyr makes it bana quick sometimes, and i added in some carddraw
and changed the elves a bit, Farhaven Elf and Llanowar Sentinel is not really the best imo, this card worldspine wurm//craterhoof behemoth is what the pro's run when playing legacy elves, which is one way to go, it's a certain finisher and is easy to get out with legacy elves but a bit harder here maybe, the thing with enlisted wurm is that its not doing that much other than getting something else out on the battlefield, however sometimes it will usually find nothing when running a ramp shell to get it out quick, which isnt much fun, you can go for the tooth and nail and you will find 2 big things, way bigger things like the worldspine wurm or craterhoof behemoth
But I want to get the value for the initial cascade. Also, if you theoretically can cascade into Steel-Leaf Paladin, it won't return the Wurm back as the Paladin would resolve first before the Wurm. Unless I am wrong.

It's probably gonna be Dwarves or Constructs/Golems/something artifact
I feel like this card is relevant to this archetype.
Sure the opponent can play mind games on you, but ultimately what goes in the graveyard wouldn't matter.
What do you guys think? I think it being an instant is a boon to the card.
This. It would have been great if they have Mirage fetches. Synergy with Brainstorm and Deathrite Shaman for draft. Naw...
With the enchantment theme, I can see Oblivion Ring in there instead of Arrest.
Remember when Legacy got too expensive and WotC created Modern?
Maybe WotC is creating a new format because Modern got really expensive...
It reads
Brains in a Bottle 2
Artifact (rare)

The Vampires...
Really, because their food supply is running low.

Not really because you would still have Top and SuperJace as a means to set up miracles. Not to mention Ponder can also do it.
I like the suggestions but half of them won't apply as I am looking for common/uncommon suggestions as I stated on the opening post.
Yes, casting it is still good. I like the idea of Congregation at Dawn and other manipulation.
