It came back to me now. MS has released a security update which uped the runtime library versions to 4148. After installing this update (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2051a0c1-c9b5-4b0a-a8f5-770a549fd78c&displaylang=en), you should see those 4148 libraries in your WinSxS folder and DeckBot should work.

I originally use static linking but recently changed to dynamic because card modules are packaged separately now.

Yes, I installed them - still no joy.

I can see the problem on one of my machine. I am still investigating why. One thing I noticed is that even after I install the VC SP1 redist package, the 'side-by-side' assemblies are still missing in the \Windows\WinSxS directory. You will need directories of '...x86_Microsoft.VC90.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.4148_x-ww_d495ac4e' to work. Note the '.4148' at the end of the version number which indicates 2008 SP1.

I will post a solution once I can figure this out.

Do you have VS2008 SP1 binaries installed? You can find it here for http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=A5C84275-3B97-4AB7-A40D-3802B2AF5FC2&displaylang=en

Note that if you use Visual Studio 2008, you should just install the VS2008 SP1 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=FBEE1648-7106-44A7-9649-6D9F6D58056E&displaylang=en

However you should aware that installing the SP1 upgrades the requirement of all your compiled binaries to SP1 (unless you do static linking.)

Did you provide any command line argument when running deckbot.exe? You will need to open up a command prompt (cmd.exe) first. After that type "deckbot armada.txt bomber.txt" to do armada deck against bomber deck all by the computer. If you want to play vs computer, type "deckbot /player me armada.txt bomber.txt". You will be playing armada deck.

Type "deckbot /?" for some hints on what to specify on the command line.

You can check with the DeckBot web pages to see more command line examples and deck construction helps.

In one instance (very early in the game), I have the computer attack me with two llanowar elves (with no other creatures), while I sit with a festering goblin. I'm trying to rationalize why the computer would want to attack me?

Could you forward me this game log if you still have it around? It may give me a clue on why the computer did that.

I'm still not gaining life for putting Vampiric Link and Spirit Link on opposing creatures.

I must have missed that when I did all the enchant card changes. I may release a quick fix for this because I like Spirit Link too...

Franavalon also mentioned this end-game check bug to me just yesterday and I have just fixed that today.

        Quote from dinghammer
Each use of the ability should resolve one at a time, with state-based effects checked (and an opportunity to play other spells/abilities) between each resolution. The second one should have put you at 0 and the computer at 3, and you should have lost at that point.

Can someone confirm that Duress can discard lands and creature cards?
I ask because sometimes i can and sometimes i can't.

        Thanks in advance

EDIT: I found the duress bug reason.
You can't discard a land or creature land when ALL cards on opponent hand are lands and creatures, but you can discard any card when at least one is other spell type.

This bug should be fixed in the soon to be released version.

Just a quick update. I am working on fixing the triggered ability selection problems people are reporting. This takes longer because of the number of affected cards. After that I will release an updated DeckBot.

Edit: removed all the details here because an updated list is now posted regarding 1.0.6.11

Just wondering if there's any indication as to why the DeckBot doesn't work in Vista. I've tried the usual work-arounds (compatibility switching, DosBox etc.) to no avail, and it just auto-closes after I run it. The issue's similar with the old APPR2TXT application, but I honestly cannot remember how to fix that.

I will add this into my very long list of bugs...

Yes, I have noticed that too and have that on my list.

        Quote from dinghammer
If the ability has a target, like Gravedigger or Anarchist, the target should be chosen when the ability goes on the stack, not when it triggers.

Question about Natural Affinity, am I correct to assume the resulting 2/2 creatures still obey the rule of summoning sickness? i.e. if I just put down a land in this turn, that land cannot attack but all other lands which have been in-play since my last turn can attack.

Also does Natural Affinity affect lands played after the spell's resolution?
