  • posted a message on 12 Packs - 4x3 or 3x4?
When constructing a 12 pack (of anything), do you prefer 4 each of 3 different varieties, or 3 each of 4 different varieties?

This has been a complex question for me to work out as I generally prefer 3x4 for the variety, but I realize that a 4x3 is more focused, with a sharper attack.

    Thoughts?

  • posted a message on Are relationships really that terrible?
Relationships are not bad, but they are hard work and will test your resolve in many situations. My view on this, and especially as it relates to my experiences, is that there needs to be a sort of push-pull circuitry, if you will. Two people have to feed into and absorb the load, which in this case is "Love."

And Love is a very complex load. It can fry your setup in a split second if you aren't capable, but it also can produce some of the most beautiful music you will ever hear.

And we all know push-pull circuits are louder than Class A (being single). Those tubes can burn cherry red. Grin

Love is defined not by words, but by actions. And sacrifice. If you aren't ready to step in the ring, get your ass kicked and keep fighting then you should step back until you are. The strength you draw from solitary accomplishments and the strength you draw from achieving goals with your partner are very different.

And as with most things these days, YMMV Slant

I recently tried a beer I had never seen before and was completely blown away. The Stillwater Extra Dry Sake Style Ale. Brewed with sake rice and some otherwordly source of water (imo). This beer will appeal to the sour crowd - 4.2% but it is the most crisp and crushable beer I have tasted in some time. 4x16oz packs.

  • posted a message on Should the Washington Redskins change their name?
    Quote from narah »
Should the Yankees change their name? Yankee is a derogatory name for a Northerner, after all.
Well, the reality of this one is that the term Yankee, while originally a derogatory term, was wholly embraced and commonly used by the folk in the Northeast. A lot of people might be proud to be a Yankee. :p

The unfortunate reality of this ruling is that repercussions will probably be felt by the Cleveland Indians organization, who will probably change their logo very soon (because he has red skin) and/or change their moniker entirely, as well. I imagine the Redskins will change their name at some point when it becomes the right move, financially.

I understand that in many places in America it is wise to be able to defend your family, but I do truly wonder whether some of you wouldn't prefer living in an environment where guns are enormously rare?

I understand your sentiment, but that kind of environment unfortunately doesn't exist (and won't exist). The very fact that other (bad) people have guns is what makes me feel that possession of one is somewhat necessary. It would be pretty bad to get into a situation in which you did not expect to need one, but do, and you don't have one. SOL

In Colorado, you can keep a handgun in your glove box for the lawful protection of you or a passenger without a CHL.

    ... so I do. Smile

Pretty basic, though, just Wallet, Phone, lip balm and car keys if I'm driving, backpack if I'm biking.

Man, haven't really played this game since like 2 Mays ago, gave up on Act 2 Infernal difficulty. Was just too hard, is it easier to gear up now? I have a 60 Monk with almost 100 hours.

I had a good one last night, took Sniper ultimate and Headshot, plus Visage attack speed steal and LC's AoE + movement speed spell. Something like 11-6-8, but we won. 'Twas nice! Grin

  • posted a message on What's your Top 5 Best Anime Series?
    1) Outlaw Star

Outlaw Star is the best anime of all time. Ultimate badass Gene Starwind and his genius friend Jim, along with a harem of 3 hot chicks including a cat girl set off to rescue the galaxy. Spaceships with arms, guns with bullets that cast spells, and definitely a more grown up feel to parts of it. Good story and animation make it classic.

    2) Rurouni Kenshin

Maybe I would tie this with Outlaw Star, but it's personal preference. The show takes a while to develop characters, but it does so in a very dynamic way. The English dub is not as good as the Japanese with subtitles, but the story is awesome and the Kyoto arc is the best single-arc transition to anime I appreciate. Kenshin almost goes back to his old self, and Shishio (who is actually voiced well in English by Stephen Blum) is ultimate villain with a fire-sword.

    3) Cowboy Bebop

Classic. Can't say much more, one of the best English dubs.

    4) Gurrenn Lagan (sp?)

I had a lot of fun watching this in Japanese with subtitles, not as much on TV. Fun, spunky, but very fanservice-y and weird animations. Good fun though.

    5) Escaflowne

This series was great. Different in many ways from the movie, but some parts of the story are just too good to not recommend.

I played the most recent beta weekend out of curiosity. Played a sorcerer for a few hours - it was fun, but the huge PvP is what I was most interested in. PvE seemed bland and very grind-y but with the knowledge that you can level up to max by playing PvP is also kind of cool because you can still do dungeons. The game looked good, ran well but did lack that revolutionary feel that WoW had in 2004. It wasn't Skyrim, But it did have its moments where it seemed like I was playing in The Elder Scrolls universe (albeit the whole thing feeling much like Disney World with everybody running around).

It seems that melee combat is kind of boring, but abilities are fast and are not. I found casting spells and getting procs was the best combat, sword and shield was fun, but not very dynamic.

I don't know, I haven't been able to really see everything in the game yet, but with so many abilities it seems like most people will play hybrid class roles which will make grouping flexible.

I haven't touched an MMO since 2005, but this game has me kind of interested, knowing that it is more story based and I can level up doing PvP, which is the only reason I play stuff online anyways. Did the endgame PvE thing in WoW for a little bit through BWL, it was fun but demanding. I like being able to just log out and not feel like I'm letting anybody down. I'm hoping that this game will attract more mature players and thus improve both the vocabulary and group tactics in dungeons and PvP.

This game is not WoW. Which is good. But I could also get bored of the game come May, you never know.

Console gaming will never die! Only the Xbox.

Sony is the like the Original Trilogy. Classic, plays on a simple tape. Made some errors with the special edition re-releases, but still never forgets where it came from.

Xbox is definitely Episodes I-III. Too many bells and whistles, and not enough of what made the Original Trilogy so great. Plus, too much Hayden Christiansen.

I think Sony's pretty much got this in the bag. Like when you take a girl home from the bar, Sony's already out the door and they're headed straight home to get it on.
