Wow that's so wrong its unbelievable, abrupt decay is critical in getting rid of many cards that hose this deck. Saying abrupt decay is a narrow answer is insane because most of the playable permanents (by a huge margin) in this format cost less than 3. You also bring in the discard against spell-based combo decks 99% of the time so I find your argument that its a bad top-deck to be completely incorrect and irrelevant.
Hi all. It's taken me a while (and I mean a WHILE) to decided what deck to paper out in modern. I've decided on infect, ordered most of my cards the other day. My list is pretty stock, a few bits of spice here and there. Been keeping track of my games on Cockatrice. Currently 20-8 (60%) which i feel is solid in an open modern meta -haven't played Eldrazi once-.
I'm mostly trying to prepare for post ban modern. My current sideboard:
Pretty stock, I'm trying Pulse's over finks. My experience with the burn deck hasn't been as bad as some have shared. I'm testing grafdigger's cage vs Melira CoCo and Snapcaster mage. Mix results so far. The other bad matchup is vs BG/x most definitely. I'm wondering about a geist of saint-traft sb. Sounds spicy. I saw someone posting about it a while ago. Would you all just say wild defiance is better is just most cases, worth upping sb/mb count?
20-8 is not 60% lol. Also I wouldn't keep track of how good a deck is from testing on cockatrice the players are terrible and nothing like what you will play against in a real tournament.
I think the new walker is a sideboard card, I would have to be convinced if I were to run it mainboard...because at that point the only thing you can take out is the collected companies because her inclusion weakens them a lot, especially when the deck is so optimized as it is.
If you were to play this card im almost 100% sure you either want to play 3 Arlin or 3 company. Personally, I think company is a far more powerful card HOWEVER it is certainly worse against certain decks where you would rather have Arlin instead.
Just wondering why do many Jund-Dredgevine lists not play bloodghast. I get that its not a zombie so you can't bring back gravecrawlers but it seems like reanimating things for free (a land drop) with the already present dredge strategy can't be bad.
RUG delver put two copies in the top 16 of a SCG Modern Classic, 0 disrupting shoals. That card is horrible and I think the deck is much better off without it.
There were 3 burn players, so including a sideboard card that wins your the match on cast is pretty good. This is a g/w aggro deck, not a midrange junk deck so I feel the draw is fine but should either be in the sideboard against the rock matchups, game 1 you should just be trying to develop your board and turning dudes sideways.
With 7 dorks I did not have an opening hand all night without one, never felt like I was topdecking them too much, honestly with 3 gavony's they aren't even that bad of a top deck. Feel like this list is pretty optimized to be honest.
Beat B/W Eldrazi, Burn, Living End, Drew next 2 rounds
Beat Living end again in t8 (same player), U/R twin, and split w/ grixis twin.
Split first place at an SCG IQ. I have no use for the invite so I just took the prizes and scooped the guy in.
Will post my list later...bit tired now.
I personally think the deck is in a really good place tonight, not a deck I usually play (I'm partial to Jund or Abzan midrange). Performed very well all night.
Why is there no love for knight of the reliquary? She is basically bonkers.
This card is great but it lends itself to a different type of abzan build (still same archetype). I find that you can either go the 4 KoTR build with NO siege rhinos or you do the classic siege rhino build. Both decks are pretty much the same EXCEPTTTT their creature base. KOTR is much better if you are playing against a field of just blue decks because having your rhino countered/remanded or tapping out for it against twin is horrendous. Also you can be a bit better against tron because you have the whole GQ package.
This might be stupid asking of me but is Dismember still worth running in this deck? I just noticed my lost is lacking a copy and I am wondering if it is still good? Pretty much takes care of everything minus Wurmcoil and PrimeTime from what I can see on paper.
I run it as a 1 of, having only like ~7 mainboard instant speed removal spells is too little for me so I like to play 1 dismember to bump it up to 8.
Just a general question, how do you guys sideboard. I run a very stock list and always am confused as what to cut and bring in. Does anybody have a "sideboarding guide" that they could type up and give me some insight?
I just cant fit abbot and pia together. Im using atm last GerryT article list. Good results grindy matchs and im not sold to abbot yet. Will keep testing.
And Wurmcoil can easily get you out of a situation with where your being beaten by 2 tarmogoyfs, even a snap will help more than a ******* keranos.
Teferi is a waste of space, why play a 5 drop that is sucks against BGx decks?
Your continued condescending attitude makes me want to write a browser script to just remove all your comments from the page. If someone's meta has a lot of blue decks in it, then Teferi is a good choice. And Keranos is not bad. Nearly every top UR and most URb decks have Keranos in the sideboard. You can't argue against that.
I play this deck on the side (I play jund mostly), and I let out an audible laugh when I heard him say Keranos was bad. The card is so good its honestly a consideration to play him in the main.

Here is a list for example: http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=95535
Basically its a meta choice, more fair decks and Jund/Affinity/burn etc you play Rhino 100%....more U/R twin and unfair stuff= KoTR
I run it as a 1 of, having only like ~7 mainboard instant speed removal spells is too little for me so I like to play 1 dismember to bump it up to 8.

Can you post this link, can't find it.
Don't you dare talk about hoogland-senpai like that.
