The End of an Era

I saw a thread on here about this earlier....but I'm gonna say that I believe Tarmogoyf will be in this set.

It fits in the numbers crunch.
A mythic green card has not been spoiled yet.
It wouldn't reign supreme in the format....no evasion or quick abilities to pump besides surveil.
It would be a cool include in a set that seems to hit some nostalgia points with Leyline reprints.
The new boost to modern and increased availability to a very popular card.

Has the Hasbro Toy Shop ever worked reliably?

No....no it has not. It sees this kind of traffic once a year with the SDCC Collection and it still hasn't learned how to handle it.

Dude...there hasn't even been a Wave 1! I'm sure they will see how it sells and then they'll screw it all up like they did Eternal Masters.

Then if Copper Tablet is winning Old School tournys....what's caused Volrath's Shapeshifter to jump so hard. The latest deck in TCG player was from 2013.
That sweet Ron Spencer art? It's a combo piece for sure, but a buyout seems irrational. It could easily appear in a commander procon and drop to a buck.
If by "easily" you mean Wizards would have to change their stance on the Reserve List and abolish it and then start putting said cards in mass produced precon decks, then yeah, I guess it could "easily" be added to a precon Smile

This buyout has the same logic as everything else lately; it is a card that has a relatively low demand but will never be printed again so someone decided to grab all the copies.

Is it worth it to sell my copies?

What I think is a hilarious twist is that since it's on the land sheet there's a good chance that someone will open this instead of a full art land. That makes me laugh so hard!! And I'm sure it'll be me!

2006 was 11 years ago. A few does not = 11 by any stretch of the definition. Keep trolling.

Bauble only went up in price a year ago. Keep being a dumbass!

Actually Ancient Ziggurat would cancel out Cavern of Souls because it essentially provides the same concept for creature mana....only worse. Though I feel Cavern would be the one Mythic land in the set and add nice flavor overall. I realize it's a pipe dream, but I can always hope. The Grotto fits the multi-color scheme.

City of Brass and Shimmering Grotto are the only modern lands that fit...unless they actually reprint Cavern of Souls.

Well, some people are looking for reprints being done much like how other games like yugioh are going about it, which makes the constructed format far more affordable than how it is now. Wizards should go that route, but it's like "good luck Convincing the traditional guys who have ptsd from chronicles who seem to linger in management and the high positions. "

Well, some people are also into huffing paint; doesn't mean that's a popular opinion. There's a reason why inferior games like Yugioh exist and that's because they can't go toe-to-toe with MTG, so they must mass print shiny objects in order to attract players. Oh, and also because of Japan being Japan. But yeah, you should totally present your case to those traditional ptsd guys who have managed to squeeze eight consecutive years of financial growth out from such an expensive game.

Yup, they are doing wonderful work this last year. Especially if your goal is to crush the life out of your LGS network and come from bizzaro world where you over print the things people don't want and do a shorter print run of the things people do want. Case in point, Planechase anthology vs Commander 2016. Joban, you've not really been making a good case for yourself here. I know I'm not the best poster on the forum and have made some pretty outrageous claims, but you literally are just bashing on people for post points. And if you aren't, than you need to come into this with at least some kind of basis for your statements. Wizards does have glimmers of hope shining through all this bad PR they've gotten themselves swimming in and if you got something to build on that than do so.

Says the fella with 2600 more posts than I during the same period of time. "Bizzaro world" would be a land where Hasbro actually makes business decisions based on what people want rather than what's best for their stockholders. Do I wish this fantasy land were real? Absolutely. Unfortunately, this is not the case and the sooner you come to terms with reality, the sooner you'll realize that *****ing and moaning about affordability is a waste of time for everybody involved. Hasbro doesn't give a ***** about you, me, or Timmy down the street (unless we own a notable amount of HAS shares). What they do care about is expanding their flagship subsidiary in order to meet quarterly earnings expectations, so if anything, use your wallet to voice your displeasure and start giving your money to Konami. I'm flattered that you think I'm petty enough to care about "post points", but I'm also curious how you manage to confuse fact-based counter-arguments to your self-admitted "pretty outrageous claims" with senseless bashing.

Statistically, it's likely that your LGS exists solely due to the existence of Magic and its secondary market; you buy a product that actually retains value as time goes on rather than buying worthless pieces of paper with ultra secret holographic fonts that glow in the dark. As of this moment, we have no verification of anything other than the box art and the art of three booster packs; no amount of misinformation churned out of the youtube rumor mill warrants this type of whining and drama. If MM17 turns out to be a ***** show then the player base has every reason to be dissatisfied and choose not to purchase it. But ripping a set that we know almost nothing about is nothing short of childish, especially when it comes to price, because again, we have very little official details. However, at the end of the day, WoTC is still a slave to Hasbro and that means regardless of any of these "modern-killing" conspiracy theories, the set will most likely contain enough value to justify MSRP. Ya know, unless they decided to use your Bizzaro world as a new plane and end up printing hundreds of thousands of abysmal-quality booster products in order to sabotage their brand.

Oh my god...you're both in the wrong. Joban8...you're wrong for dragging this argument out over multiple posts with someone that clearly doesn't get it. Colt47 you're wrong because you quoted Joban8 to wrongly argue your point and then immediately posted again, quoting someone else to senselessly discuss their post. There's no doubt in my mind that you post too much and say absolutely nothing. Just so you know Colt....that's actually a double post, and a no-no. There's a reason the "Multi-Quote" button is down in the right-hand corner of the screen...try using it.

That being said, I must agree with Joban8 here that Wizards knows exactly what they're doing. It's worked for 24 years....I think they understand better than any other CCG out there.

As for MM17...I think it's absolutely necessary for them to reprint the original Zen fetches in this set, as rares, with new artwork. After the horrible product they released last year, my guess is that they will give the players a little more with this one. Comparing the prefect balance of MM2013 with the top heavy lottery tickets of MM2015 isn't even fair. My hope is that Wizards realized what they did with the last MM set and made some very necessary adjustments to this product. If not, they may be seeing a large reduction of consumer sales in their future.

I swear....the posts started randomly in this forum by people who refuse to take the time to investigate their feelings with what has already been presented astound me!! As mentioned previously....Tezz has been confirmed in AER. If they made a precon card form of it....they have a better version in the booster packs. If you look at the latest spoiler for the pack images in Amonkhet....Nicol Bolas is shown on the front!
