forestwalk is pretty damn strong if you're running swords tho.
My creature curve needs work to really make use of pod right now, I cut it for more counterspells.
I agree with you on everything else tho
Hey guys so I've actually moved on from commander on to 60 card decks so I don't have any commander decks.
Anyway I've started my own gameplay channel in which I play games (Magic also)
I really don't like the self mill strategies in mimeo. With our colors its just as easy to draw/discard or fill up the yard with tutors.
being more pinpoint about your discard makes you less vulnerable to gy hate.
Either way, flash would be great here. Early game with any of the big etb effects you have is game warping.
I find we don't play enough card draw to effectively abuse exploration late game. Its easy enough to remedy with crucible of worlds and fetches tho.

have you tried forbid? it's a really good card as it can counter and fill your yard.
At least in my group, graveyard hate seems to be becoming more popular. In a game I played yesterday, there was a Tormod's Crypt out for a long time. I managed to kill it, only to have Rest in Peace come down the turn after, soon followed by Grafdigger's Cage. I was eventually able to deal with all of them because I run a decent amount of removal, but they prevented me from getting a lot of use out of my graveyard. I don't really think including any more of these graveyard filling effects would be good for me right now. If I wanted another counter, I would probably look for one with a CMC of 2, such as Arcane Denial or Counterspell itself. That said, if you want to play a controlling build and don't have to worry about too much graveyard hate, Forbid could work out nicely.
Speaking of the game I played yesterday, the Swords once again proved their worth in an attrition war. Yawgmoth's Will was also amazing following up an end of turn Intuition, which helped me to come back from the brink of death and establish a strong board. Living Death was once again game breaking as I was able to stock about 6 creatures in my graveyard after removing all of the hate cards.
However, many of the other creatures like Consecrated Sphinx are worth Podding into in certain situations. I would definitely bulk up on your number of creatures if you want it to be worthwhile. I run 26 creatures and I definitely wouldn't be comfortable using Pod with less than 20, and probably more like 23-24 at least.
I try to create redundancy at different points on the curve to maximize my ability to get the things I want. For example, there are various clone type effects at 2, 4, and 5 mana. There are noncreature removal effects at 5, 6, and 7. Creature removal at 3 and 6. Ramp at 2, 3, 4 and 7.

Thanks for this great response!
I only mentioned creatures with ETB effects, so I run some of the ones you have here, including Sphinx. I do indeed run snap, image, fleshbag, and witness as well.
Is Farvhaven better than Yavi? Seems to be Yavi would be better.
Can't run Trinket mage: not enough targets for me.
Can notion thief count for your pod? You would never want to play it during your own turn.
I've never run pod before: is this ok? Do I need more at the 3 range?
Birthing Pod is my baby. I run it as a main card in my naya deck as well. I like being able to pod for cards and pod into a few answers.
3 drops are mostly for starting your chains. You want them to be non-essential to the board as your going to be sacrificing them. It isn't impossible to pod away a 2 for a 3, but its rare. At least in the way I build it.
4 drops are weird. I guess they can basically be whatever you want. You sort of want them to be expendable as well. I assume you want to keep podding up. I wouldn't have a problem with podding into a 4 that you want to keep though.
6: Duplicant, Massacre Wurm, and Consecrated Sphinx. I consider Sphinx a great end curve for your pod chain. Pretty amazing card. Massacre Wurm is good where I play, and it can make life totals a factor. I feel like 6s are lacking as well. Dtrain has gone though all the 6 drops ever and came up with Brutalizer Exarch as the best card. I cant help but think that we just don't have the best options here.

Where is your ramp at 2?
I like Farhaven Elf better than Yavimaya Elder because it actually ramps you. Elder searches up lands and may draw you a card (not if you Pod it), but the lands just go into your hand. When I'm playing these early guys I want to be advancing my mana while also getting all the value that ETB creatures provide. Also it's nice that it ramps when it comes in, so it can still use a Sword afterwards.
I don't Pod into Notion Thief very often, but there are situations which I would Pod into it. The number one situation is probably if I am holding Windfall, which is one of the biggest blowouts the deck can manage, right up there with Jin-Gitaxias. I also might Pod into it if an opponent has a strong draw engine in play. Even if it's an optional draw and I don't get extra cards out of it, I am still shutting their engine down.
I didn't list Sakura-Tribe Elder at 2 mana since 1) I can't Pod into him, and 2) He doesn't work well with Pod anyway, but he is definitely a ramp option at 2 mana. As XeroxedFool mentioned, most of the time our Pod chains start at the 3 spot, so STE often isn't involved in them.

8: Terastodon. I normally reanimate this guy. He is there for the pod if you can.
This is a very good explanation of the majority of things we can do with Pod. My list is basically the same, although I don't currently run Massacre Wurm. I am thinking he might be good to fit in as lately I have had to deal with decks like Krenko, Mob Boss and Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer. You said you feel your 5 drop slot is weak, but mine is about the same. I prefer Havengul Lich over Genesis because it's much more flexible and cost efficient, but other than that I think our 5 slot is exactly the same. One new option for the 6 slot is Progenitor Mimic, which has the potential to be insane in some situations, but I'm personally not a big fan of paying 6 for a clone.

Bluuughhh. Notion Thief + Windfall. That is so nursty. I might have to try that one day. Progenitor Mimic is awesome in the pod chain, but I agree that casting him sorta sucks.
I'm getting tired of Genesis honestly. I don't really want to see him anymore. I need to get a Havengul Lich and try that guy. I doubt I'm missing any sweet 5 drop ETB dudes.
I run Grave Titan as a 6 CMC creature in my mimeo deck, any opinons? I really like the fact that I can pod into him, and before I pod him away get 4 2/2 zombie creatures that can be attached to swords, etc. I just feel like he gives overwhelming board position and is just good in general.
Thoughts?

Hi I'm Infecter4life and ironically I only play GBx decks.
Hi, I just threw together my own Mimeoplasm deck. At the moment I'm still lacking a few staples like Demonic Tutor and it's mostly comprised of goodstuff and cards I really like and want to try out in this format.
I'm just starting to build my Mimeoplasm deck. It started mostly as a goodstuff.dec but I recently added a bit more reanimation. I've seen many lists with Diamond Valley. I always thought this card wasn't that good since it couldn't produce mana but I guess there is a reason why it's played. Do we really need sacrifice outlet so much?

I would say that High Market is much better. It taps for mana and still gains you some life. It obviously can't gain the large amounts that Diamond Valley can, but its cheaper to buy and still works as a land.
I'm getting tired of Genesis honestly. I don't really want to see him anymore. I need to get a Havengul Lich and try that guy. I doubt I'm missing any sweet 5 drop ETB dudes.
I'm thinking that perhaps Shadowborn Demon could find his way into the 5-slot post M14.
I'm thinking that perhaps Shadowborn Demon could find his way into the 5-slot post M14.
Seems like a definite possibility to me. He's definitely preferable to Shriekmaw when podding, and he comes with a fairly large, evasive body as well. The sacrifice ability is probably more a benefit than a hindrance in this deck since oftentimes we want to put creatures in the graveyard, and you can always sacrifice him to his own ability if you want to keep your other creatures. I can't help but wishing he had 6 power so that he would be able to make Skithiryx lethal with The Mimeoplasm, but he's still very useful in a variety of ways.
A couple cards that I have been thinking about trying out are:
Batterskull: Gives a bigger pump than the Swords and allows the equipped creature to play both offense and defense, which can help gain a lot of life. This is pretty relevant considering all the damage the deck does to itself. The fact that it brings it's own body (which can carry Swords or Skullclamp as well) and the ability to reset itself or evade removal by returning to your hand just make it incredibly versatile and resilient. I would probably try this in place of Sword of Light and Shadow.
Crop Rotation: Awesome for tutoring up utility lands like Bojuka Bog or High Market at instant speed, giving you graveyard hate, a sac outlet, etc at instant speed and for just one mana. Can also be used to fetch up Strip Mine to deal with opposing utility lands, Cephalid Colisseum to get a draw engine going, or even just a fetchland to pair up with Life from the Loam or Crucible of Worlds.
Batterskull is awesome, but I feel like in general we're pretty resilient as it is. Its great for lategame lifegain tho ill admit. I just prefer to play it with stoneforge mystic.
In a pinch it can start a pod chain too i suppose.
Crop rotation is cool, the bigger problem is that when its a dead card its really dead. I feel like its one of those that will sit in your hand waiting for a response. Its not bad w/ LFTL tho... sac a forest for a fetch then you can get two lands back.
I just dont like it in a deck that doesnt draw a ton of cards all the time
I was playing against a deck that ran Tortured Existence
This is my first time seeing it and I think it would be good in a Plasm build. Especially my kind with lots of reanimation. Thoughts?

One thing I'm trying out here is an artifact subtheme. I have Trinket Mage and Tezzeret for tutoring and Glissa and Academy ruins for recursion.
Deathbringers Capsule is one card that interacts with all of those in a great way.
For more sixdrops I recommend Zegana. I had eperience in two other creature based decks I played and she always is really great.

I would say that High Market is much better. It taps for mana and still gains you some life. It obviously can't gain the large amounts that Diamond Valley can, but its cheaper to buy and still works as a land.

I'm thinking that perhaps Shadowborn Demon could find his way into the 5-slot post M14.
Draft my Peasant Cube.
I think that you are absolutely correct. He at least adds to potential 5 drops. I traded for a Lich and now I don't know which I want to run.

This is my first time seeing it and I think it would be good in a Plasm build. Especially my kind with lots of reanimation. Thoughts?
Anyway I've started my own gameplay channel in which I play games (Magic also)
