This last deck is what I would do if I were to play paper pauper based on what Akmage suggested. It's fast and uses the ninjautomatron to enhance the shadow creatures as well as grab the holy grail of burn, lightning bolt.
I just jumped in and signed up for MTGO. Polyjak is a persuasive guy. I could really use some help in figuring out my way around this thing. If someone from this clan gets on, I'd really appreciate a little help. Please PM, e-mail, or IM me if you're interesting in helping out. Thanks,
-H
Edit: MTGO handle is "haloscope"
It's good to have another clan member online.
*applaudes myself of first post in new thread!*
Anyways...I'm not all about our guy, so I'll let you guys go with him. I've been online the last couple days (and really nice to Halo) and I'm starting to have more free time. Hopefully I'll be seen on there a little more frequently now.
Well, all of these Ninjautomaton deck ideas look good to me. I prefer the Izzet burn route, but anything works for me, under one condition: if the deck utilizes blue, I want one tutorable copy of Writ of Passage, because I think it's cool :p.
If you have time, I ask all clan members to hop on over to Variant Formats and critique my deck. Even a short thought or two would be nice. I encourage you to post your Pauper creations as well. Maybe we can spur some life in that wasteland.
Also, Greg, I posted again in your thread, and started one of my own. Here's a link to the Variant Formats - Competitive forum. Check out our threads, respond, post one of your own.
I just thought of an interesting variation to Ninjatomaton... if its still open for discussion.
What if he were a one time search activated by coming into play via ninja? What I envisioned was a ninja who let you search for a spell with the same CC as the creature ninja'ed out. Part of it is that being able to tutor for a card with his power seems pretty powerful. By the time you can get anything of a substantial CC ninja'ed out, you would be able to cast that spell anyhow.
Plus, it would allow for a crazy ninja chain - ninja in a ninja then ninja in the ninjatomaton - since ninjas have a higher CC than their ninja cost.
Just an idea. It could be a different card, really.
- H
P.S. A special thanks to Akmage, Polyjak, Eegag and MasterBeeble for getting me started on my online collection!!! I truly appreciate it.

I've been trying to think of an easy way to word that, and I really can't. Plus, it could get really complicated and really tough to use. I know our little guy seems pretty powerful right now, but he's quite fragile, and I don't think he can win or lose a game alone. We need to make him a good home deck.
Plus, the flavor of your ninja is a lot more ninjutsu-centric, whereas we were trying to get something that would be a powerful but balanced tool for all Paupers. The format is primarily creature-based, so ninjas are useful in most decks. And no matter what color you're playing, there are 1-drops worth fetching.
I'm not shooting down your idea as such, but I think it's going to be challenging to word it correctly, and I think it's going to be more challenging to make a deck that abuses him effectively.
As for the Ninjautomaton, Ben and I have discussed the card's art. I suggested depicting a robotic ninja sneaking by two dozing guards and reaching up high on a shelf for a bright flask (potion). Ben suggested depicting the ninja running away from pursuing attackers, clutching a scroll in its arms. We could also show the ninja dodging creatures' attacks and chasing after the Leonin Scimitar, or any other 1cc artifact (recognizable).
Ben is an artist and could whip something up. If someone else wants to try and is able to scan it, that is more than welcome. Post your art in this thread. I'll shop up the card (whatever it ends up being) and use the art we produce, plus the PoP "signet" as the expansion symbol.
More thoughts about the card, the deck, the art!! We have to get this finalized, as it's due Sunday!
Is there going to be flavor text on Ninjautomaton?
I would assume so, especially if we are going to render the card in Photoshop. That is, however, if there will still be room on the card with all of the rules text. Did you have anything specific in mind?
How is the card coming? Is grozathia still whipping up a piece of art for the card, or is it too late for that now? Tomorrow is the deadline, correct? If so, we'd better get moving ;).
EDIT: Thanks to Greg, I was able to find the proper file and I have the card ready to go. All it needs is art. Sadly, Retropa, there is no room for flavor text.
We also have to finalize the decklist, since that is a major part of the submission. I'm cool with a Gro deck exploiting the Wee Dragonauts if everyone else is...

The Dragonauts-Gro decklist works for me, but I am going to say it again: we need to include one tutorable Writ of Passage, especially if our win condition is a supersized faerie. Forecast Writ at the beginning of the turn on the 1/3 WeeDs, then play 3 or 4 one cc sorceries or instants to make him an unblockable 7 or 9/3. As a bonus, the Writ can also be used on Ninjautomaton.
3. Firebreathing is cool, but maybe we should use Leonin Scimitar or Bonesplitter (or both) instead, since the Aura requires a repeat payment and that interferes with our 'flurry of spells' plan.
Lava spike as a 2 of might be better. Since it isn't versatile in the opening hand yet the card is wonderfully efficient when fetched, it might smooth out the quality of the draws. I'm always a fan of bonesplitter, I prefer it to firebreathing.
1. I guess we've got the card finalized, and it's the Ninjautomaton. We're almost done arguing about a decklist... a U/R Dragonauts Gro deck that uses the ninja to tutor for 1 cc spells that fuel the Wee Dragonauts. With some counter backup and some unblockability spells, hopefully we can keep the ninja hitting home and the Dragonauts swinging for big beats.
2. The card is shopped and waiting art. Grozathia has it partially done but had to work tonight. It should be finished tonight or tomorrow.
3. As for the story of the card, here goes:
The science guilds (Izzet and Simic) jointly produced Ninjautomaton as a service robot to act as a courier and delivery bot. The Dimir, however, had sent one of their agents incognito to meddle with the blueprints of the Ninjautomaton, and so the bots were produced "defective." They have a will of their own, and serve any master, so long as the price is right.
And, since they're Paupers, the price is relatively low.
They are accessible to all, they serve the Pauper mage, and they're darn cool.
Thanks for searching, Beeble... I appreciate it. Actually, though, Grozathia is painting original art for the thing... so that will be cool. As soon as he gets it done it will be scanned, shopped, and uplodaded.
Meanwhile, we definitely have to finalize the decklist and the "write-up" that explains the deck and our card and how it fits the clan.

Whenever Ninjautomaton deals combat damage to a player, you may search your library for a nonland card with converted mana cost equal to Ninjautomaton's power, reveal it, and put it into your hand. If you do, shuffle your library.
1/1
Have to say, love the Ninjautomaton card, been following it loosely during the development and think it definitly fits into the Pauper spirit. Hopefully others will see it for being a quality common and vote for it.
Please check it out and give your two cents on it. Afterwards, start a new thread if you want to solicit ideas for a deck of your own.
I'm not such a big fan of Thought Nibbler, hate to say.
The first is a mod of fish. Idealy the ninjautomatron does his thing and grabs a scimitar. Then he grabs burn and counters. Pretty straight forward.

I like this one, but we definitely should include Lava Spike for maximum burn tutoring mileage. Isn't Sleight of Hand a common? Unsummon? Force Spike? Maybe like 1 or 2 of each of the spellbombs? Another idea: Firebreathing?

1. Frostling. Is he really the best red 1-drop available to the Pauper mage in MTGO Classic?
2. No Force Spike?
3. Firebreathing is cool, but maybe we should use Leonin Scimitar or Bonesplitter (or both) instead, since the Aura requires a repeat payment and that interferes with our 'flurry of spells' plan.
EDIT: Firebreathing out, some equipment in. Lava Spike out, Unsummon in.
Woah there, wait to consult the rest of our clan ;).
Firebreathing out for Bonesplitter sounds good. That way, we can use Ninjautomaton to tutor for Wee Dragonauts.
I don't know about taking out Lava Spike, though. What does everyone else think?

Alternatives: Reckless Charge or Fever Charm.
But, Hearth Charm is flippin' tech.

Well, I did a quick google search to see what I could find. Here are the only 3 things I found that could "possibly" work. But I'm not sure...anyways:
