I have posted our submission in the clan contest thread. Go check it out, and make sure to inform me if there is anything I need to change ;).
Thanks, everyone, for the input given during this contest. I am glad we could enter, and I think we provided a solid entry.
Thanks for taking care of that, Greg.
Now we get our thread back.
There are a few decks popping up at the Variant Formats Competitive forum, but more are always welcome. It would be cool for every Prince (and the Princess) to make a thread with one of his or her decks, so we can cross-fertilize with the pollen of ideas. Plus, it would foster growth.
Also, I'm working on a new article for our own library... an "Encyclopedia of Pump" which lists all the instants, sorceries, and auras that give +X/+X to a creature either until end of turn (instants and sorceries) or permanently (auras).
Lastly, I intend to write an article for MTGS (if they are interested) akin to JMS's Building on a Budget series... basically, I intend to "Pauperize" a pre-con from one of the Ravnica sets and make it MTGO Classic legal. I'm open for suggestions on which one to do, or anything really.

Well...#1...the art on Ninjautomaton is priceless. It's got to be one of the better cards I've seen too.
I think for that you should do either Gruul Beats or Izzet Gizmometry. It's a couple color combinations that are regularly seen in Pauper (as I've noticed) and could use the attention.
On a side note....Jak, you remember that BW deck I was playing the other night? Well, I've been in the anything goes room playing regular decks and I'm 8-0 in the last 3 days. It is so good that it handled BoP, Moldervine Cloaks, Burning Tree Shaman (which still hurt cuz of House Guard) and Wojek Embermages (wt?). I think it's probably one of the best I've built (for RBP). I'm going to finalize it and I'll post it up here in the next couple of days.

It would be interesting to try and keep the flavor of Izzet while widening the card choices to Classic. Most Pauper U/R decks, in my experience, are Ire or Dragonaut Gro. I suppose the precon might fall into the latter camp, but I'll have to take another look at the deck's contents. Thanks for some direction, Beeble.

Awesome, please do. Orzhov definitely seems to be the strongest guild in Ravnica Block Pauper, the one your deck must consistently beat to have a chance. I have a auras/tokens deck that has a prayer. It's still not a fun matchup... but without blue's instant-speed bounce, one gets completely hosed by Haunt, Fetters, and Pillory.
Also, everyone, wanted to put out a reminder that we should update our "library articles" (Commons with Tutoring Effects, etc.) to include Guildpact, Visions, and Dissension cards. I'm glad to see the LD list, Grozathia.
EDIT: After starting to work on "updating" the list of Pauper draw spells, I realize the scope of this task. Perhaps it would be better for all of the Princes to make a concerted effort to update each list individually. To that end, I ask everyone to take a gander at the lists we have produced so far. For your convenience I will list them here:
If you have any updates (especially in Visions, Guildpact, or Dissension, but really every applicable common should be on these lists), please post them here so we can get these lists up to date.
Hey Beeble, could you post your B/W decklist? I've got a couple of my own and I'm curious to see the differences and similarities. Also, I'm glad to hear of it's success
I have posted my Pauper Soldiers deck up in the Variatal forum. If anyone has anything to add to it, feel free to stop by and give a post.
I'll give you my thoughts in your thread soon!
Everyone: Here's what people have been saying about Ninjautomaton!

Card doesn't really seem good, and the idea of a mechanical ninja seems..counterintutitive. Like how is a big, metal machine stealthy.
I find it interesting that alot of people like that ninja card because it's a ninja robot, while I disliked it as a ninja..because it's a ninja robot.
Quote from "Daggertooth, Called" »
It's very ballanced for a comon. Creative, clan related, and would require a deck built around it. I actualy like this one. 100%

This is hilarious. But doesn't seem very powerful at all. BUT HILARIOUS.

5. Ninjautomaton

It still screams for a deck to be built around it. I agree that the cost should be changed a bit. It's creative and gives a card Ninjitsu that it doesn't normally have. This makes me want to hold back just a little bit on it.

im thinking something about what the Princes of Pauper said about us.
We of [House Dimir] deny all connections to Ninjautomaton's failing.

not terrible, although I'm leery of an artifact Ninja for abusability.
Quote from "Wrath_of_DoG, Zoo" »
My favourites, aside from the Zoo creature of course, is Patent Pending and Ninjautomaton. Both seem well-costed and breakable while not over-the-top. So I'd vote Patent Pending for two points and Ninjautomaton for one.
Patent Pending ftw, yeah, but I liked the ninjautomaton. I guess it is a bit narrow. Sigh... What do the rest of you guys think?

Quote from "Slavan K. Guiser, ImageCrafters" »
1. Princes of Pauper: This is the kind of card I'd build a deck around. The fact that they made a balanced common that has some definite potential for the Johnny in me. They _really_ went above and beyond to capture the feel of their clan and to make a card that's different than all the others.
I'll add more here as I find them. Meanwhile, Princes (and Princess), check out the other clans' submissions here and PM your top 2 votes to Eegag.
Thanks for compiling that info, Jack. It looks like reception to Ninjautomaton is mixed, but it definitely seems to be in the mix.
I must apologize for my lack of posting, recently. These last two weeks of classes are going to be a bit rough, but I will check in here as much as possible!
So far, I only have the votes of Jack and Interpol. Everyone else, send me your votes ASAP, so I can get them compiled!
It doesn't surprise me that the card is getting mixed responses, the fact it is a common and based for Pauper makes it for limited audience.
It seems that the people that like it, get it and those that don't do really seem to see the good of it but that's just how I see it.
I agree completely. I had a hunch we might get looked over in favor of the flashier, more powerful rares. But I think Greg's description says it all: it's tough to make a common powerful yet balanced enough to build a deck around, and yet (in my opinion) we have done so with flying colors. There are quite a few users who seem to get it, though, so I'm happy, and I applaud them.
Some of the other cards are really cool... but don't necessarily meet the criteria for the contest. Anyway, enough out of me about that.
Here's something that I thought of when I PMed Eegag my votes. How are we going to decided what our overall clan vote will be? We have until the 14th, so there's no great hurry. Here are some ideas I'm throwing out there.
1. 2 points for first pick and 1 for second. In the even of a tie between any cards we will vote again as a clan to choose our overall vote.
2. A clan wide vote on the top 5 most nominated cards. The card with the most votes becomes our first pick and second most second. In the even of a tie we will vote again to determine our pick.
I like the idea of #2 most, but I'm deffinately open to other ideas. We have until the 14th, so there's no great rush to get this done as of yet.
I like the 2 points for 1st picks, 1 point for 2nd picks idea. We don't need to belabor this process. We shouldn't have a "revote" unless it's absolutely necessary.
Man, democracy is rife with corruption.
Votan has called the "Triple Alliance" clans (Dimir, Izzet, and Rakdos) into a special thread essentially to forbid them from voting based on that alliance. While this action is noble and all, I think people are naturally going to vote in their own best interests, and "voting alliance" like that is a way those clans have concocted to do just that. If this alliance voting wasn't a threat to the other clans, I don't think anyone would have a problem with it. I think the whole thing is pretty funny, myself. But I'm pretty cynical.
Sorry I haven't been posting much, I have had a few chances to drop in but am feeling uninspired as of late. Can't get used to my long days. At any rate, Roterothopter is a fine common I had kind of forgotten about. A friend of mine I used to play with frequently used to run them all the time. I must have seen the card played hundreds of times. I believe I stated some time ago somewhere that many people ran the War Beasts in the first pauper tourney I ever entered back when it was simply called a Commons only Tournament. In fact, I was running a green stompy style deck and had forgotten about it until just before the tourney and had to buy a playset to add to my deck. They hit hard, can take shots, and artifact hate can be surprisingly absent from many decklists.

Well, to be short and sweet:
"Blame me." is the first thing that comes to mind.
Of Dimir origin, the founder (Exalted_Urza), the co-leader (Surging Chaos) and myself decided to do that. I left the Dimir to form the Izzet while Urza left and started the Rakdos. After forming and becoming official, we officially linked the three in alliance.
As you see, I have since left because someone in the Izzet (not to name names, Oasis) annoyed the stuffing out of me and I just got sick of the Guildy stuff. After knowing Jak from Aether, we talked a bit on AIM and told me he was starting this clan. Now being my third clan, I'm not leaving. Third time is a charm....and this clan is the best....balls out!

Haha, no worries guys, I don't frown upon the TA voting. Frankly, I think it's your right as participants in a democratic forum to cast your ballots however you choose. I view this whole thing as yet another example of the old, established guys feeling threatened by the young up-and-comers and trying to oppress them to feel more secure in their own hegemony. I certainly didn't feel threatened by TA voting... it's just a silly contest.
Played in the release tonight....WHOA....fun stuff. My RAV tourney pack rares were: Grave-Shell, Hex and Dark Confidant :o. Then I got a Rakdos Demonlord in my GP packs. So, say no less, I played RBGu. I splashed U for Drift of Phatasms, that 3/3 Flying Trampler for 4 guy and Dimir Infiltrator. I went 3-2 and finished 8th....o yea, last prizeout position so I got 6 packs (owed half to a guy who conceded to me in round 5 for the chance at one of us prizing out, I had a higher tiebreaker) and pulled a FOIL Loaming Shaman out of it. O yea...that was nice. My g/f played and opened up an Infernal Tutor in her packs, so no complaints there.
I also bought a box today and only got 2 duals. That's what I've seen on average, so I know not to expect much. Still, me and my shop's manager are still sitting on a proven thoery, which is:
In a box of Dissension boosters...there are no duals in the left stack of packs.
We opened a case for the store and my box, box for draft and saw 6 other boxes opened (total of 14 boxes) and no duals were pulled from the left side. The left side facing the box with the back flap up. Crazy stuff, but I'm sure that CAN'T be right....
Sounds like a fun release event, MB. I didn't make it to an event, but I purchased three boosters, getting a Rakdos Riteknife, Rakdos the Defiler, and Experimental Kraj. I traded the two Rakdos rares for my 4th Spell Snare, an Azorius Guildmage, a Simic Guildmage, Ghost Quarter, and Novijen Sages.
After picking up the boosters, retropa and I drove over to another card store to go through their commons. First we picked up playsets of any Dissension commons that we needed (Azorius First-Wing, Coiling Oracle, Seal of Fire, the karoos, etc.) and then I looked through some older boxes. In a very short time, I pulled out:
Going through these old cards made me eager to play some Paper Pauper. Unfortunately, the only local player willing to play Paper Pauper with me (retropa) does not have much of an older collection. Hopefully, this summer, we can build up her collection, and I can play against some of you on MWS :).
CLAN AGENDA
1. Voting on Clan Contest #2
2. MTGS Recruitment
3. Updating old and producing new library articles
4. Posting Pauper decklists in the Variant Formats forums
5. Updating the Princes of Pauper Wikipedia entry
6. Writing articles for MTGS
If you've not yet sent Eegag a PM with your 1st and 2nd picks for Clan Contest #2, please do so. Democracy is only as good as the people in it, and though we only get one electoral vote, at least we can be sure that every Prince/ss has had his or her say in it.
Recruitment on MTGS isn't skyrocketing, but we've recently gotten some new members on MTGO, so I count that as a success. It would be nice to pick up 1 or 2 new active members for the clan here though.
When does the next season of PDC start? It'd be cool to crank out some winning decks. We should spar against each other to that end. I've yet to temper my R/W deck to a razor-edge. I'm sure Interpol's Soliders deck could use some rigorous testing, as well. It'd be cool to get at least one decklist posted in Variant Formats: Competitive from each member
Should we even bother working on a better MTGS Wikipedia entry for our clan? It wouldn't have to be insanely elaborate, just something better than what's currently there.
As for the library, I thought we might be better off "going global" with our information. To that end I've prepared this prototype for a website: http://magic.jwc4.com -- its new now, but it could be a hub for all our Pauperly information. If anyone wants to help, that would be amazing. I think it would be nice to have a visual spoiler for every card in the MTGO Classic format, and perhaps even branch to every card legal (according to our hard-fought ruling) in Paper Pauper. But we can start with the online blocks. If you want to help, post here or PM me. What need to be done for the time being are block spoilers and converting our lists (common draw spells, common artifact mana, commons with tutoring effects, common LD spells, etc) to visual spoilers. I did Eegag's board-sweepers as an example. You can see it on the site.
To do them:
Open a notepad .txt document, and type this:
<body bgcolor=black>
Replace "visions" and "scourge" with whichever block the card is from. Use Gatherer to search by set, color, and rarity... I found that way is easiest. I integrated the sets in each block so the cards are alphabetical by color... see the RBP and KBP spoilers on that site as examples.
If you wanted to convert one of our text guides to visual, just be sure to separate MTGO Classic legal from those commons which aren't yet online. Again, see the Board-Sweepers list as an example.
At the end, save the file as a .html and then open it with your browser. Should look fine!
I plan to get a Dissension fatpack very soon, perhaps today. Your tales of prerelease and release tournaments have excited my imagination with the possibility of 66 commons, a land pack, AND a novel. Not to mention 18 uncommons and 6 rares!
The commons I'm looking most forward to getting (and using) are:
Now we get our thread back.

Going through these old cards made me eager to play some Paper Pauper. Unfortunately, the only local player willing to play Paper Pauper with me (retropa) does not have much of an older collection. Hopefully, this summer, we can build up her collection, and I can play against some of you on MWS :).
Prison Yard (Pauper Future Extended)
To do them:
<body bgcolor=black>
The commons I'm looking most forward to getting (and using) are:
Guardian of the Guildpact
Cackling Flames
Psychotic Fury (I have fallen in love with Wee Dragonauts, at last)
Seal of Fire
Thrive
Azorius First-Wing
Overrule
Plumes of Peace
Azorius Chancery
Gobhobbler Rats
Wrecking Ball
Shielding Plax
Assault Zeppelid
Coiling Oracle
Simic Growth Chamber
Yay WUR, GWU, and BRW!
