As with most business structures, the more competition you often add, the lower prices can become, as people try to compete for the potential customers business by having the lowest prices.
Its not surprising to see some of the tcgplayer prices drop a bit on the low end thanks to the sudden infusion of new sellers, especially individuals who aren't necessarily looking at it from the perspective of a business.
Personally I just tend to stick with ebay (easiest place to sell the large volumes of cards I have, as quickly as possible without resorting to selling to other online stores). That's one of the reasons why I always focus on ebay as well, the sheer number of buyers and sellers on ebay help to make it about as close as one can get to seeing what the real market value for most things can be. There are of course pros and cons to each selling method that people use, some places you will get more money for the items, but sell slower, some places you will get less money for, but sell faster, its all a matter of what people prefer.
As far as RTR goes, The set has a lot of long-term potential, especially post-rotation in the fall (which is rapidly approaching). I look forward to seeing how the meta and card valuations shift once we get there.
Abrupt Decay has dropped about a buck in the last month or so. Any idea why?
Starcitygames is selling them for 8$ each, you can tell a card is undervalued on SCG when the TCG pricing is very close to it and refuses to fall lower. I feel like SCG could easily be selling this card for 12$ and TCG mid could easily be 9-10$.
Saw the same trend with AoS/jace, AoT when they were at a low, SCG was selling angels for like $6.5 while TCG was at like 7$ still, same with when they were selling Jace for $9 and TCG was still at like $9.50. I almost feel like sometimes SCG undervalues good cards that are a bit lower in popularity so they can make strong profits off the buylist by waiting for the card to become popular then bam it's way higher, but thats just my speculation. I remember trying to buy 300$ worth of AoS off SCG when they were 6.5$ each but after 200$ the shipping to Canada got insane. I can't believe people were selling AoS to starcity for like 3$ a copy and Jace, AoT for 5$ a copy. Similarly I wouldn't be dumping my Abrupt decays for 4$ or whatever that's for sure...
Because everytime you populate the angel (or a wurm for that matter) you gain 4, triggering the condition for getting another angel. You gain 2x4=8 or 5+4=9 power on each Trostani activation.
Ok so what happens if you play Angelic Accord without Trostani?
I would rather have a card that makes a 5/5 trampler by itself and does not have to rely on another card to be good.
Well, figured it was high time for another update, so here you go :). As always my prices come from the low end of ebay buy it nows (emphasis on playset/4).

Both the mythics and the rares dropped some from where they were a couple months ago when I did my last update. A number of cards dropped below the $2 mark and off the list. The box value is far from amazing, but these days, an $80 box value gets you at least a passing grade on the value scale ;).
Anyhow, enjoy the update, Ill post another update soon.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
If selesyna tokens places well in tournaments then I expect people to look into her. Her downside is her color requirements, making her restricted to GW decks only.
Figured it was time for another update as its been a while. As always my prices come from the low end of ebay buy it nows (emphasis on playset/4) as well as taking into account the lower end of tcgplayer.

Set has been out for nearly a year and still has a box value of $87, relatively speaking, that's darned impressive. Even more impressive when you consider that once we hit rotation, that number is VERY likely to rise. Of course, RTR being packed full of awesome cards helps it greatly. Will try to post another update within the next couple weeks. Enjoy!
Seems like Deathrite Shaman playsets are going around $60 on ebay. People are paying more for 4 than getting individual ones.
Play sets often go for more than the sum of four individual cards on eBay. And, it seems that some established sellers are able to consistently get higher prices for their play sets than new or low volume sellers. I think people are paying for convenience and reputation.

"Because we cannot prevent draws in paper Magic we allow IDs. If we could prevent draws we would not have IDs in paper Magic. " Scott Larabee.
Yep, he's amazing. I wonder if there is some trick to it.
I know a few of my friends who buy cards maybe twice a year but always do it from the same sellers. Many people who aren't getting a lot of auctions care more about the when, and the safety of a seller they know.
Same reason the established website like CFB and SCG do it.
Yeah, you pretty much have to ignore KidIcarus auctions to accurately gauge the market, since he always manages to get like 25% more than everyone else.
Speaking of Deathrite, he's gone up a $1 on magic.tcgplayer mid price over the last several weeks. This isn't a huge move but, seeing as I don't expect him to ever go down again, this may be an indication that we've passed the point of market saturation and modern/legacy playability will slowly drive him up into the $20s. If anyone's looking for a secure, slow investment, I'd pick him up now.

I would think that the interaction between reprinted Thoughtseize and Deathrite Shaman in Standard has something to do with it. These two are going to be best pals for a while as it gives him some nice early fuel making him much more relevant in the Standard format and driving up the price.
What's up with Desecration Demon? Doubled in price since I last checked a month or so ago.
Pure speculation?
I got rid of my stack a couple of days ago. I think this increase is temporary as the Theos meta is pretty hostile towards it. U/W control doesn't care about a "vanilla" 6/6. G/W aggro can just Selesnya charm it. Mono red can just tap it for one turn and go lethal.

Too late both are all sold out.
They're silly sometimes w/ pricing too much for the short-term w/ Standard. He's a card people expect to explode after rotation.

Are you taking Shipping totals into account? Days it takes to receive? REP?
This is true. And very astonishing.
I've seen some auctions grossly inflated. This has been the case for many years now. I don't recall purchasing from him before but I might have.

Yeah $60 before shipping totals are even counted. One even went to around $65 (shipping incl.) using USPS 1st class.
