Given the assistance that JWK just gave me, and how some of the resources online are fairly limited and ... hard to utilize, I would like to get together a comprehensive listing of all the EDH goodcards/staples that cost between $3-20. I think that a resource like this could help some of the budget players out, as well as giving everyone a total list of cards that they could look at for their colors. I'll keep this updated, and I'm going to start sorting by color/type/cost here in a bit.
So, please help! I'd love for this to be a comprehensive list, so please feel free to put a ton of cards in here, even if they're not necessarily "good in every single x deck"
If you're doing a list, if you don't mind putting what the average cost of the card is (roughly) and if it goes in a specific build, that archetypes name? (I.E. Debtors' Knell - $8 - Recursion) If not that's cool, I can do it myself, but it'll make it a lot easier.
Here's where I'm starting: Please, please, if you know of a card in the $3.50-$20 range that you consider a staple that you don't see on this list, hit me!
I took a quick look at some of my deck lists on Deckbox and found the following which seem to fall into the range you're looking for. Some are more "staple" than others, but all are solid cards that a person probably isn't going to feel ripped off for having won.

I would like to get together a comprehensive listing of all the EDH goodcards/staples that cost between $3-20. I think that a resource like this could help some of the budget players out, as well as giving everyone a total list of cards that they could look at for their colors.
If your goal is to help budget players, why is there a lower bound of $3 per card? Aren't there staples that cost less than that? $20 for a single card doesn't seem very budget to me either... I'm thinking it would be easier to gather a list of cards ABOVE that figure rather than below it, so as to know what to avoid if playing on a budget.
I was wary of suggesting legendary creatures in my original list, but since you seem to be cool with them, another good card for this sort of list is Hanna, Ship's Navigator. She goes well in a lot of decks, in addition to being a pretty strong general.
I'm not so sure AEther vial is a good fit for this list. It's pretty narrow in EDH so I wouldn't call it a staple. (By no means am I saying it's bad it's just niche.)

I just pulled together a list of everything $20+ that is legal in EDH if you or anyone else wants to use it as a reference or to add onto it. I used the lowest price available, but excluded Judge Promos and such since they're fairly difficult for the average magic player to obtain. A lot of the cards aren't that useful and only carry a high price due to rarity (mostly P3K cards) or use in other formats (Tarmogoyf). I think I pulled out all the banned list cards, but I could have missed a couple. Here's the list, based on TCGPlayer average prices:

I disagree with this. Judge promos are easy to get a hold of. Many stores sell them, and marketplaces like eBay and TCGPlayer.
That is true, but it is highly unlikely that you would be able to buy the at your LGS. They have never been sold directly to the public through Wizards in the same manner that most cards have. Also, most are more expensive than their non promo counterparts, and there isn't really a good way to price them on TCGPlayer. I think the only two that would be cheaper are Imperial Recruiter and Xiahou Dun, so I guess I could just use SCG pricing for those two.

It's unlikely you'll find a lot of cards at your LGS. I certainly can't go to my LGS and expect them to have a particular rare from Legends or something relatively obscure like Shared Animosity.
I think, where the judge foils are cheaper, it's definitely good to use their prices. Imperial Recruiter isn't 110 dollar card, even if the P3K version is.

Cards under $20 are actually pretty reasonable and are priced as such for a reason. While you aren't breaking the bank buying Imperial Recruiter or Gauntlet of Might, you are potentially getting excellent cards such as Scavenging Ooze, Sense's Divining Top, and the like. All staples and all cards under $20. The more of a "goodstuff" list you run, generally the higher your bill is going to be, but for players on a budget, the cards that they'll find on this list will certainly be more assisting and comprehensive than a list of all the dollar rares that you can pick up for EDH. If a card is a staple, it usually comes with a price tag.

I'm unsure if others share this opinion, but as a budget player, I will take 20 $1 cards over 1 $20 card every time. Multiplayer is much more forgiving than duel formats, so Commander allows me to play a greater variety of cards while remaining competitive. I see no reason to 'build up' my collection to include the same staple cards that are used everywhere else.
To me, budget means playing the game as cheaply as possible with the fewest in-game sacrifices. Cards under $3.50 are much more effective in this than those above $3.50, since I lose very little by not using more popular/rare cards in multiplayer. This is one reason why you'll see budget players with a limit on how expensive their individual cards are.

In regards to the budget vs non-budget discussion: Obviously the term "budget" is subjective, being able to be defined many different ways. I thought I was clear in the title of how I was defining my version of "budget", I.E. $3-$20. The reason I chose that range is because that's where I feel the most good spending and harder choices come in. I think anyone can go out and buy a ton of >$3 cards, ad get a little collection up, but there's only so many "staples" in that list. Once you've gotten all of those, then if you're still looking fo staple cards you're going to need to spend a little more. I feel the $3-$20 range has the largest pool of cards to be able to be considered "staples" without having a prohibitive price tag attached.
SO, there's the reasoning about defining the word "budget" but again, I think it was clear in the thread title how I defined it anyways If someone doesn't consider $3-20 in their price range, obviously they just won't look at the thread

While I agree with you, the 20$ cards are still... Reasonably budget. I would've cut it off at 10$, but it's still pretty budget.
I love digging through a bargain bin, I built an entire deck out of one. But stuff like Lark is still budget enough that I don't feel bad picking it up.

I understand why the price range is $3-20, but I personally would use a $0-10 or $0-15 price range. One reason for that maximum is a financially focused article I read a couple months ago that went into some detail about what players are willing to spend on a single card. They said something along the lines of 'casual' players (which I feel has a different connotation than what they were actually talking about) are generally fine paying up to around $10 on a single card if they need it for a deck, but after it hits double digits it becomes harder to justify spending the cash for a piece of cardboard. I strongly agree with this, largely because I don't think my decks could really be considered budget, but even with some Judge promos, fetches, et cetera, I have a pretty hard time justify buying something like a Leyline of Sanctity, despite wanting it for both of my current EDH decks, decks I have already disassembled, and decks I plan to make.
And while staples tend to carry a price tag by nature, I think $3 is a bit limiting because that doesn't catch such cards as Eternal Witness, Skullclamp, Darksteel Ingot, or Beast Within.
Chandra Nalaar? not a staple. barely even playable. goes double for ablaze. I get that red is short on staples, but yet goblin welder isn't on there?
Mostly the cards you list are playable, with notable exceptions, but not even close to the staple range. Staple, to me, implies that it's going into every, or at least most, decks that can run it. Null rod is fine, but I'm sure not putting that into every deck I own.
Stranglehold might be on the low end of 3 bucks and Vampiric Tutor might be too close to the 20 dollar cut so I'm not sure if you want to include those.I'm also skeptical about Gamble. Not sure if people would consider it a well rounded staple, but almost every mono red deck uses it.

If your goal is to help budget players, why is there a lower bound of $3 per card? Aren't there staples that cost less than that? $20 for a single card doesn't seem very budget to me either... I'm thinking it would be easier to gather a list of cards ABOVE that figure rather than below it, so as to know what to avoid if playing on a budget.

I just pulled together a list of everything $20+ that is legal in EDH if you or anyone else wants to use it as a reference or to add onto it. I used the lowest price available, but excluded Judge Promos and such since they're fairly difficult for the average magic player to obtain. A lot of the cards aren't that useful and only carry a high price due to rarity (mostly P3K cards) or use in other formats (Tarmogoyf). I disagree with this. Judge promos are easy to get a hold of. Many stores sell them, and marketplaces like eBay and TCGPlayer.
That is true, but it is highly unlikely that you would be able to buy the at your LGS. They have never been sold directly to the public through Wizards in the same manner that most cards have. Also, most are more expensive than their non promo counterparts, and there isn't really a good way to price them on TCGPlayer. I think the only two that would be cheaper are Imperial Recruiter and Xiahou Dun, so I guess I could just use SCG pricing for those two.

It's unlikely you'll find a lot of cards at your LGS. I certainly can't go to my LGS and expect them to have a particular rare from Legends or something relatively obscure like Shared Animosity.
I think, where the judge foils are cheaper, it's definitely good to use their prices. Imperial Recruiter isn't 110 dollar card, even if the P3K version is.
EDH is an expensive format by lieu of things being long out of print. It's only cheaper in the long run because your cards don't rotate every 2 years like standard. Cards under $20 are actually pretty reasonable and are priced as such for a reason. While you aren't breaking the bank buying Imperial Recruiter or Gauntlet of Might, you are potentially getting excellent cards such as Scavenging Ooze, Sense's Divining Top, and the like. All staples and all cards under $20. The more of a "goodstuff" list you run, generally the higher your bill is going to be, but for players on a budget, the cards that they'll find on this list will certainly be more assisting and comprehensive than a list of all the dollar rares that you can pick up for EDH. If a card is a staple, it usually comes with a price tag.

I'm unsure if others share this opinion, but as a budget player, I will take 20 $1 cards over 1 $20 card every time. Multiplayer is much more forgiving than duel formats, so Commander allows me to play a greater variety of cards while remaining competitive. I see no reason to 'build up' my collection to include the same staple cards that are used everywhere else.
To me, budget means playing the game as cheaply as possible with the fewest in-game sacrifices. Cards under $3.50 are much more effective in this than those above $3.50, since I lose very little by not using more popular/rare cards in multiplayer. This is one reason why you'll see budget players with a limit on how expensive their individual cards are.

In regards to the budget vs non-budget discussion: Obviously the term "budget" is subjective, being able to be defined many different ways. I thought I was clear in the title of how I was defining my version of "budget", I.E. $3-$20. The reason I chose that range is because that's where I feel the most good spending and harder choices come in. I think anyone can go out and buy a ton of >$3 cards, ad get a little collection up, but there's only so many "staples" in that list. Once you've gotten all of those, then if you're still looking fo staple cards you're going to need to spend a little more. I feel the $3-$20 range has the largest pool of cards to be able to be considered "staples" without having a prohibitive price tag attached.
SO, there's the reasoning about defining the word "budget" but again, I think it was clear in the thread title how I defined it anyways

While I agree with you, the 20$ cards are still... Reasonably budget. I would've cut it off at 10$, but it's still pretty budget.
I love digging through a bargain bin, I built an entire deck out of one. But stuff like Lark is still budget enough that I don't feel bad picking it up.

I greatly applaud this list - it's caused me to throw about half a dozen cards on my wishlist.
And while staples tend to carry a price tag by nature, I think $3 is a bit limiting because that doesn't catch such cards as Eternal Witness, Skullclamp, Darksteel Ingot, or Beast Within.

Chandra Nalaar? not a staple. barely even playable. goes double for ablaze. I get that red is short on staples, but yet goblin welder isn't on there?
Mostly the cards you list are playable, with notable exceptions, but not even close to the staple range. Staple, to me, implies that it's going into every, or at least most, decks that can run it. Null rod is fine, but I'm sure not putting that into every deck I own.
