Moving the contract to the upkeep does make it flow a little bit a bit better. To that end I have altered Pact-bound Oracle to fit, and bumped to a contract 3 to keep its efficacy.
I also agree with Ikeda that not every contract card should have a drawback like the elves.

I think the flavor of Hexbow Discharge makes perfect sense, but I keep thinking of Gut Shot whenever I look at the card, which makes me associate it with an uncommon slot. Prosper feels slightly off as well - what if we simply associate this with a set number of lands instead of a variable number?

I'm not unopposed to the set number of lands idea, and I agree that free removal should probably always be uncommon, but I think my version has more design space - the "five or more lands" version effectively limits the mechanic to spells with CMC four or less.

Moving the contract to the upkeep does make it flow a little bit a bit better. To that end I have altered Pact-bound Oracle to fit, and bumped to a contract 3 to keep its efficacy.
I also agree with Ikeda that not every contract card should have a drawback like the elves.

Del-Sula, a world dominated by a plane spanning ocean. Primitive clans of nacatl and goblins live and hunt and fish on the sparse islands that dot the oceanscape, while the more adventurous humans and elves take to high sees to earn their living, worshipping the fierce sea creatures that dwell in the oceans depths like gods.
