Punisher roles are not out of the norm in Mafia (Since Paranoid Gun Owners and Super Saints/Hero type roles are a thing,) but this punishes too much IMO.
After the backlash DRey got from Ultimate Showdown, I doubt we'll see a punisher role in anything short of a Specialty anytime soon.
Cute. We've done this dance before, remind me how it ended the first time.
What is "cute" about it, exactly?
I also checked Smalltown Swap and saw:
Quote from dkings »
Swishh looks HORRIBLE now, though. He refuted his own argument but then flailed away trying to cling to it. The "really cute" response to Generic at the end of #190 makes my skin crawl. He champions using language tells to scumhunt, all the while vomiting scummy language. Look at #105 through that lens. I would change my vote to him now except I believe that would put him in quickhammer range.
Willing to hammer pending EtR's case. I still want to see him attempt to go on the offensive, but his claim pretty well seals the deal for me. I just don't see that being an actual thing.
Saying that I am more confident in my belief that you are town because of your case on Dan does not necessary mean that I like your case on Dan; however, I do also like the case and think that it has merit.
Yes, I liked Dking's post, which does point out a flaw in your case. By no means does that imply that I cannot like your case and the fact that you made the case. Dkings just presents a different perspective to consider when looking at the case from a step back. Even though there is disagreement between two players, I can still believe that both of those players are town, especially when both of those players have made solid posts, like in this situation.
That's fine, but who do you actually think is scum? I feel like you're just sitting back, observing the situation, and designating scum/town points; aka, not going out and doing the dirty work yourself. It's a similar mindset I tried to adopt in Ghost Story, where I was scum, I think. Let me pull it up.
Yep, that's pretty much what I've been doing. I always suck tremendously at the beginning of games, but I do much better in later day phases once more pieces of the puzzle reveal themselves. Ha! I pretty much behave the opposite of you. When I'm town, I sort of just do whatever and wait, but as scum, I've found that I try a lot harder to create cases against people.
I suppose that Dan is a good place to look for scum. As I said earlier, I thought that the case, for the most part, was convincing.
Because I think it's a pretty shoddy reason to have jumped on Rodemy, but I think his self-vote is actually a legitimate indication that this might be his scum game.
I understand what you are saying about the condition being verbatim, but I wouldn't expect an ill-experienced person to pick up on that. My thoughts are that Rodemy was strictly considering the role itself, and completely dismissed the wincon, hence he only quoted the role aspect of the claim (it was split into 2 separate posts, iirc, so I believe that Rodemy didn't even read the second one, or he didn't see any sort of significance).
OK, how does that make sense though when he was actually given a pretty big hint in thread about the reason for the votes? How does this also make sense when he would have clearly of seen the wincon question asked in thread that something was up involving the wincon? Your logic on this part has a bunch of holes in it considering there were the mental prods BEFORE the onslaught of votes that he should have checked his role PM.
False. The "big hint" was something along the lines of "look at Shockwave's post and then look at Rodemy's post and when he posted it." Like I said earlier, there is a good chance that Rodemy didn't know that there was any significance to the wincon being used to confirm someone. Then in Rodemy's post #158 (and #160, for that matter), he makes it obvious that he doesn't pick up on the "big hint"; he continues to justify his reasoning based on the role alone, which leads me to conclude that he disregarded the win condition. There were three votes placed on him between his #146 and #158, and at the time of his #146, the wincon question had simply been asked. There was not any attention given to it, nor any "big hints" yet. So I think that your last statement is BS.
I'm town. Our Lady of Perpetual Chastity is my role. My ability is Paying Penance. It's a passive ability. If I'm lynched any scum JOAT's get an extra shot of an ability. If I'm the NK any town JOAT's will get an extra shot of an ability. Which ability is decided randomly.
I'm the town church and all are welcome within my walls. The nuns and priests are hear to hear and forgive the sins of any who want it only requesting that a penance be paid.
Win Condition: You win when all the mafia have been eliminated.
I think that EtR is lying. I do think that he has a role that affects JoaT's though. This role doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me in it's current state, which leads me to believe that EtR has a different role that this claim is modified from.
Wut? Isn't a survivor a neutrally aligned role?
But you just claimed town. If you really are town, why would you specifically note that it makes sense as survivor but no other alignment?
I'm convinced that EtR is scum now. If people don't have anything more to discuss, I'm fine with casting my vote.
Meanwhile, I'll stay with Occam: Arnmod gave town's wincon to the scumteam, probably via falseclaim. Note that, as per Occam, I believe Shockwave's incorrect wincon quoting is due to him not checking his role PM (or his falseclaim/scumchat, if he's scum), not because he's scum and wasn't given town's wincon. If this is indeed the case, he's much more likely to be town since I'd expect scum to be extremely meticulous when claiming.
Furthermore, not only that kind of carelessness comes from town, but his role is also town-aligned and provable. So in my opinion we shouldn't be worried about him by now, despite his controversial behavior earlier in the game.
Town, I win when all the mafia have been eliminated.
Since when is that the wrong wincon? Are you sure you are reading your wincon correctly? Because shockwave surely quoted the right wincon (Substituting I for You, which is completely expected in this case.)
Yes his role is provable and is not worth lynching does to this, but it seems the whole premise of your case/opinion/whatever you want to call it, on him is WAY off.
@Iso: Please read the thread, we are not derailing the two main wagons this late in the day unless there is a good non-RVS post reason for doing so.
@EtR: Still not buying your role despite the now apparent strengthening of the role I would also love you to answer my questions about your T/S list vs your reads that I posted a couple pages back.
I sheepishly agree.
---------------------
If I missed any questions, let me know.
It's too premature, imo, for a full list of reads, but:
I have strong town reads on Rhand and Proph and Iso
I also think that Arian, Dkings, and Tan seem town.
I am convinced that EtR is scum.

When I first read the role PM I actually had to go back and double check to make sure I wasn't a neutral. It really fits as a neutral survivor.
And it probably makes sense for me to be the lynch today anyway as that gives us the most time to work around them getting their extra shots.

Man after reading that post I really want you to be town.
Who are your secondary scumspects, after EtR? You've mostly just been sheeping the major lynch candidate, and I can't remember you doing anything.
I liked hans's EtR-survivor catch on the claim, but we'll see in regards to hans.
Yeh me too. I don't have anything to add until we see this flip.
His "And it probably makes sense for me to be the lynch today anyway as that gives us the most time to work around them getting their extra shots." makes no sense at all: it gives scum more time to use/plan their extra shots. And if he really was town, he would be trying to attract the vig shot (if we have one) instead of getting lynched, giving town the advantage instead of scum.

EtR is either scum or neutral.
Well it's pretty clear I'm the lynch. I'm not going to try and attract a vig shot when I won't be alive then.
If EtR doesn't get lynched by the end of today I will copy and paste DGB/Kami quotes from the end of Day 2 of Crosstown Mafia when she strongarmed a lynch on Thor, except on EtR this time.
His posts don't feel like "I'm going to make a case when I go out the door, analyze my wagon, yeah!" - they feel defeatist, kind of how I was at the end of Presidential Mafia - just lurk out the thread to avoid incriminating my buddies via interactions.

You used it as an argument for why you should be the lynch.
Let's sum of my problems with you for easier reading then:
1. The repeated use of lol in the beginning looks faked. I could buy you being legitimately amused by the early game, if you had varied your language a bit.
2. You FOS'd dkings after completely ripping apart his post.
3. You ask leading questions and misrepresent people all the time. That "Why would you unvote someone at L-2 if you don't like them?" to Rodemy ignores the fact that the votes were all RVS and in the first couple hours of the game.
4. Post 197 in general.
If you want, I can rip into your arguments in more detail, but you're right about tl:dr's being terrible.
You know what's concerning? No one, besides Rhand, has brought up the possibility of lynching outside EtR toDay, to let a vig shoot him toNight on the off chance he's telling the truth. The issues are that EtR might just be bulletproof scum, in which case we can lynch him toMorrow, he might have an ability toNight that we don't want him to get off, or their might be multipe town roles with vig shots that we don't want to all be wasted on EtR now.
The weirdest thing is that EtR has completely disgarded the possibility. It doesn't fit into his claim at all.
Proph, yes message sending COULD be a scum ability, but I have never seen it in a game personally. The only two times I have seen the ability (Myself in STAUII, and Kosa in Dury lane,) were both town abilities. I will note that in Star trek, I was suspected Day 2 by Weaver (My Night One target) of being scum, though it was quickly disproven.
As far as the Iso/Shock slot, as of now he is the only known inspection role. On top of that his role is completely provable (And also hints to a possible Role blocking role with his third ability.) Again though, I believe the slot to be town.
TBH, I don't really know, I suppose fulcrum although I see no immediate threat. I think that the fulcrum/Kosa dispute could be potentially solved by fulcrum's flip. Theoretically, if fulcrum were to flip scum, there is a pretty strong chance that kosa is town, based off my belief that fulcrum would not want to heavily bus a teammate so early in the game, simply because that same action led to the scum's downfall in WWII mafia. The problem would be if fulcrum flipped town, because then Kosa could still be town or mafia.
I don't really know what to make of Cythare or Rezombied. I think that of the two, Cythare seems more towny, although that's exactly what I thought during the small fraction of time that I was in Smalltown Swap, and Cythare wound up being scum in that game.
It seems like most people are ready to finish the day, including myself, so I'll go ahead and Vote: EtR

You are Loki, Trickster God.
You are mafia.
Once per Night, you or one of your comrades may perform the Nightkill. You may not use an ability the same Night you perform the Nightkill.
You have the following 1-Shot abilities, of which you may only use one per Night:
* Once during the game at Night, you may target a player. You may create a message of 100 characters or fewer to send to that player through the mod.
* Once during the game at Night, you may target a player. That player will lose all abilities for the rest of the game.
* Once during the game at Night, you may target 2 players. Any abilities the first player uses that Night will target the second player instead of its originally intended target.
* Once during the game at Night, you may target 3 players, one of which must be yourself. Those 3 players may only vote amongst themselves during the following Day phase.
You may speak to your comrades during pre-game and at Night in this Quicktopic.

The town had gathered in the village square to hear a press conference from the agency that had come to investigate the explosion at the nursery. Apparently the weapons used to explode the nursery were military grade, which attracted the attention of the neighboring police communities; they did not want these devices to smuggle into their (bigger) cities. It’s not that they cared about Pleasantville, it’s more that they cared about their cities. And it’s not that the residents of Pleasantville cared what they thought, it’s that they would take any outside assistance they could get.
A man stepped forward to the podium. He had a sharp face you could cut a slice of cheese across and didn’t look like he took guff from anyone. He wore a comedically outdated hat and a long brown trench coat. He cleared his throat and spoke into the microphone: “It appears as if we have located the chemicals that were used in the demolishment of the nursery.” The town gasped at this revelation.
“It appears as if the chemicals came from Our Lady of Perpetual Chastity.”
The town gasped again and everyone looked at Mother Miranda. EtR’s building was…
Our Lady of Perpetual Chastity
Mother Miranda ran up to the podium. She was a revered leader of the sacred order of nuns in the city and, although a majority of the town was not Catholic, she was seen as a pillar of honesty and truth. She began chastising the crowd who began to murmur obscenities and hatred toward the elderly woman: “How dare you all think of our order as having done this! May God cast fire and brimstone…” She never got to finish. The crowd began marching toward the church in true mob fashion. The authorities from out of town began to try to quell the lynch mob down, but nothing could stop the people from Pleasantville.
They arrived at the church and immediately went to the monastery in the back. The monastery was the only part of the building that was deemed holy enough not to be touched by outsiders and sacred enough only to be tended by the nuns. The mob kicked down the doors and went inside. And they saw… velvet red curtains? Beaded lampshades? The aroma of rose petals and champagne in the air? Old Man Jesse ran out from the back with his pants around his ankles. The Mayor gasped, and shouted at him at once: “What the hell is going on here, Jesse?”
Jesse retorted, “I’m just here for my daily constitutional. What is everyone doing here? I thought this place was a secret?!”
The Mayor, thoroughly confused, yelled back, “Daily constitutional? Jesse, these nuns were the ones that destroyed your nursery!”
Jesse got the mad look in his eyes once again and screamed, “Nuns! I should’ve known it was these filthy whores who were ruining the town!”
Mother Miranda jumped to the forefront of the crowd as everyone started castigating the nuns among themselves. She tried to explain, but someone grabbed her habit and ripped it down. Her undergarments were exposed: a red lacey and frilly girdle on top and silk drawers and garters on the bottom. She covered her shame and ran out of the room. The Mayor screamed for someone to explain what was going on. Jesse shouted at the top of his lungs. “Don’t you all get it, this isn’t a church, this really is…”
Mother Miranda’s House of Whores
The town’s people couldn’t be stopped by anyone now. The bordello was obviously behind the bombing of the nursery and it needed to be demolished. They began tearing everything down until the authorities from out of town stepped in. The couldn’t let a lynch mob risk finding the caustic explosives and blowing up another city block with them. They finally got a hold of the people and marched them outside. The people stood outside while they watch the cops ransack the place. Soon thereafter, scores of prostitutes dressed in outrageously obscene outfits were dragged out in handcuffs as bomb trucks arrived at the scene to take care of the cache of explosives the authorities had found in the back.
Night fell on the church as the crowd still stood outside, only being held back by yellow crime scene tape. The pillar of the community had been a mere front for a prostitution ring. And they had been willing by greed to sell the community out to the powers that be to turn this great city into a parking lot. Eventually the crowd subsided and the throngs of people went back home. Pleasantville was safe from Mother Miranda now; someone they didn’t know they were under threat from the day before.

EtR has been lynched. His Role PM is as follows…
Alignment: Mafia
Building: Mother Miranda’s House of Whores
Front: Our Lady of Perpetual Chastity
Most who glance at the building would think it was an ordinary church. But the nuns who run this bordello are true sinners. It is an easy cash flow: men come in to buy all sorts of things on the weekdays and they come back on the Sundays to do penance for everything they bought. This business is a cash cow raking in prostitution money and tithes towards the church. What’s even better is since their front is a church they even have tax exempt status!
Collect the Tithes (Passive): If Mother Miranda’s House of Whores is lynched by the Town, each Town Jack of All Trade will unlock one used ability at random.
Collect the Tithes has been activated via the lynch. All Town Jack of All Trades unlock one used ability at random.

The townfolk had gathered around S&M Construction for a major announcement. Saul and Maurice Glemshaw owned the construction company and were major benefactors to the town. They often rebuilt and repaired homes and buildings at cheap rates, albeit slowly. Saul stepped up to the podium before the crowd and began smiling. To the left stood his brother and to his right stood Old Man Jesse.
“Ladies and Gentleman, through a healthy heaping of Pleasantville generosity we are pleased to announce that S&M Construction is going to rebuild Megiddo’s Nursery free of charge! The groundbreaking ceremony will begin tomorrow afternoon and we have a projected date of reopening in only three weeks!”
The crowd erupted in cheers, even though they secretly knew the job would take months, if not years. Old Man Jesse stepped up to the podium and the crowd began chanting “Speech, speech!” Old Man Jesse was never one to turn away from a public request (and truth be told, he liked flapping his lips like any other crotchety old man out there).
“Friends…”
A loud explosion shook the audience and everyone was thrown back to their feet. When people began to recover they looked at what had happened. S&M Construction had exploded in a fiery spectacle that rivaled the one that took out Megiddo’s Nursery! Rhand was..
S&M Construction
Fire crews arrived within minutes and began to put out the blaze. Saul and Maurice looked at each other. All of their building supplies. All of their tools. All of their blueprints were inside that building. There was no salvaging it and there was no way they were going to be able to rebuild the nursery or any building in the near future. The crowd knew who was behind this. Mother Miranda sat in a jail cell in the city drunk tank a couple blocks over while she was waiting to be sent to the state penitentiary to await terrorism charges. They began marching toward it to see if they couldn’t wring some answers out of her.

Rhand’s building has been demolished. His Role PM is as follows…
Alignment: Town
Building: S&M Construction
Not many new buildings ever get built in Pleasantville, but there are certain dozens and dozens of repairs over the year. S&M Construction has a reputation for being slow, but if you get friendly with the owners (read: send them food and libations) they can certainly work a lot faster.
From the Rubble Up (One-shot/Active/Targeted): Just because a building has been demolished does not mean the business is over and done for. In fact, it might be a good opportunity to build a better building in it’s place and celebrate a Grand Reopening! Target a building. If that building is demolished that night, the construction crew will rebuild the building during the night phase and the building will be better and stronger the next day phase!
Termite Damage: LOCKED
Now Under New Ownership! (One-shot/Active/Targeted): Sometimes you can’t rebuild a building as fast as you want; sometimes it is simply easier to move. Target a building: S&M will make the ultimate sacrifice and give its storefront for another business to move into if that building was demolished that night. If a building is successfully saved from demolishment in this way, you will be considered demolished and removed from the game instead.
Win Condition: You win when all the mafia have been eliminated.
***
It is now Day Two. You may begin posting. With 10 alive, it’s 6 to lynch!
The fact that we happened to lynch the scum player that would give us all an extra shot on the only day where said ability is rendered useless makes me slightly uneasy about Proph. IIRC, he was the first person to go after Dan, which I'm thinking now could have been a planned bus. I don't know whether or not this is true; Proph just isn't a definite town read anymore like he was at the end of D1.
Other than that speculation, I have absolutely no leads.

7 (hans) please no oh god no this better not happen
13 (Tanarin) more like Tsunderin
19 (Rodemy) That might because Hans is Hans.
36 (Arian) What is the point of the question to Hans?
46 (fulcrum) fulcrum is thinking the same way I am, +town.
53 (Rodemy) Well the Day 1 flip is unfortunate for you then. (couldn't resist)
I'm pretty sure fulcrum is town. General observation in this point of the game. Later, Proph puts the final nail into that alignment with post 127.
I'm not terribly bothered by Shockwave being angry at his predecessor, despite fulcrum.
113 (Arian) I can vouch that I haven't seen an episode of Silver Rage recently.
124 (Proph) well now i understand what happened last Night but c'mon proph you couldn't see the problem with this?
why am i complaining to someone who isn't here
146 (Rodemy) You know what I really don't see a scum!Rodemy making this post. He seems really, genuinely disappointed that he can't figure out Shockwave's alignment.
Rodemy for town.
...and then I look at the first post and see that Rodemy is already confirmed town.
149 (rezombied) This post serves as a chance for me to mention that everything rezombied posts is weird.
Despite that, that post may point to him being town.
I think Tanarin is town for the same reason (the win-con debacle)
186 (dking) The way dking says "I've been saying Rodemy is scum for days" implies that dking is town because scum!dking wouldn't want credit for a wagon that ended up flipping town.
walls walls walls let's skip the walls
205 (hans) I'm agreeing with hans? Maybe it's a good thing I didn't make good on my threat to nominate him for blacklist.
213 (Proph) Comparing anyone to Ghosting or any Naka gimmick for that matter is never a good idea.
I'm so bad at reading Cythare.
hans is sort of feeling like the hans I'm used to but without all the Gargoyles. I'm calling that good enough for leaning town.
Kosa ends up feeling sort of like he does in games where I'm supposed to review him for League; both time he was scum. I need to pin down exactly why I feel this way before I feel confident in this read though.
Speaking of which, FUTURE WHEAT read fulcrum's 319 and then Kosa's 345.
rezombied isn't feeling as weird...but he's feeling absent. Another one I plan to take a good look at, along with dking.
334 (Arian) Well, Arnn certainly does do a lot of bookkeeping for the League, just something to keep in mind.
So this is the gospel according to Wheat.
Town
fulcrum
hansanator (artificially inflated due to relief that he's not plethora gambitting)
Leaning Town
Iso
Tanarin
Cythare
Arianrhod
I'm pretty sure there are two scum among these three but I need to research when it's not 1AM
dking
Kosakosa
rezombied
With my best bet being dking and Kosa^2.
Last note for FUTURE WHEAT: Look to see if Iso's assertion holds up.

Iso's vote put EtR at L-1. He's not getting hammered before he posts the case he promised.
Also, I kinda wish people had kept quiet on their thoughts about his claim until he provided some more casing/reads, but that's over with.
After the backlash DRey got from Ultimate Showdown, I doubt we'll see a punisher role in anything short of a Specialty anytime soon.
Cute. We've done this dance before, remind me how it ended the first time.
NO BRAKES
What is "cute" about it, exactly?
I also checked Smalltown Swap and saw:
It's the exact same thing he did coming out of RVS in Drury Lane.
Additionally, I managed to catch up and respond to things that people have been waiting for.
Whoa. I really like Iso. His level of enthusiasm is mind-blowing.

This. Sorry for the poor phrasing.
I believe I answered them a page or two back. If that isn't the right one, let me know.
When I first read the role PM I actually had to go back and double check to make sure I wasn't a neutral. It really fits as a neutral survivor.
And it probably makes sense for me to be the lynch today anyway as that gives us the most time to work around them getting their extra shots.
Oh, woops.
I guess I just read it wrong.

Oh, forgot about Drury Lane.
Someone remind me to talk about this post on when [REDACTED] is finished.
Man after reading that post I really want you to be town.
Who are your secondary scumspects, after EtR? You've mostly just been sheeping the major lynch candidate, and I can't remember you doing anything.
I liked hans's EtR-survivor catch on the claim, but we'll see in regards to hans.
I'm literally waiting for EtR to flip now.
I am gonna stop arguing with you. Die already
Anyways, notesdump because I'm lazy.

This is all mostly useless right now w/out an EtR flip, but I'll change it toMorrow.
Would it be a good idea for Iso to watch Rhand and Rhand to protect Iso? (Agatha Christie flashbacks, heh)
Iso should probably just WIFOM up the watch - it's a very strong role.

I have seen message sending used as a scum ability in Ragnarok Mafia, hosted by Iso offsite.

EtR’s building was…
Mother Miranda ran up to the podium.
“Don’t you all get it, this isn’t a church, this really is…”
The town’s people couldn’t be stopped by anyone now.

Rhand was..

I'm really unhappy with Proph's night action, but I thought I'd have more Night left to change it.
Luckily it was the ability that I don't consider too awful if it's wasted.
Will reread within 4 hours.

Hi Wheat.
Hi fulcrum.
Vote fulcrum
