Well that was wild, wasn't it? Time to calm things down a bit. For this round, we're going to keep it simple:
Make a mono-green or mono-blue creature.
Bonus points:
Not legendary - 1 point
Converted mana cost of 4 or less - 1 point
Use Mana Symbols in card (must be in both textcard and render (if submitted) in order to count) - 1 point
Supply rendered card art - 1-2 points (1 for supplying art, 1 discretionary for judges)
Point breakdown:
Bonus: (x/5): Judge how the card fits the bonus parameters.
Balance: (x/10): Judge how the card is balanced; its power level, and whether or not it could make or break a format.
Flavor/Creativity/Quality: (x/10): Judge how flavorful, cool, and well-worded the card is. Basically, this is the "slickness" category. (If a card fails to fit the round, points should be deducted from here.)
Players may wish to reference the Players List. If you have questions about the FCC, check out the FAQ. If you have a question about using MSE, find your answer here.
This round will run until midnight EDT Sunday, May 13th (when Sunday becomes Monday). Have fun!
Judges, please don't begin judging until the round is over. You may start postings at 12:01am EDT, even if we (Moss_Elemental, Avatar of Kokusho, and Kraj) are not online then to close the round. 1/2
Twilight Kiwi
Bonus (4/4)
Art (0.75/1) - Looks slightly cartoonish
Balance (9/10) - At first, it seems rather weak. Then again, it's an improved Sengir Autocrat. It's nice fuel for a sacrifice engine. It's nice for Opposition. It's also a 3/4 for 4 mana that has pseudo-modular. There is really little wrong with this card as it seems like an excellent pick in limited and acceptable in constructed for the purpose of certain archetypes that need many creatures fast.
Flavor (1/2) - A treefolk spawning saprolings seems curiously odd considering how saprolings have been commonly spawned from fungi and elementals. It has been flavorfully always been represented that saprolings were fungal in nature.
Flavor Text (1/1) - Nicely explains intent as an excuse for function
Quality (2/3) - As a custom keyword, 'Fertilize' seems rather specific. It seems to only be a modified modular ability with the ability to place on multiple nonartifacts. However, the specificness comes from the name 'fertilize'. Just as bushido was narrowly only applicable to samurai, fertilize can only be applicable to plant-like organisms. Also, the fertilize ability doesn't target, as modular does. This is just a minor technicality.
Creativity (3/4) - It's a green-adapted modular creature with an ability to use "charge" counters per se. TOTAL - (20.75/25.00)
Technomagus
Bonus (4/4)
Art (1/1) - It is appropriate
Balance (7/10) - It completely stops any flying creatures your opponent may have that can be targetted so long as you have the snow mana needed. However, it has first strike in green. That hasn't been done consistently since Elvish Archers (Glissa was an exception) which was taken out due to color violation reasons. In addition, it has the ability similar in thought to Voracious Cobra in that it can completely dominate combat without any other first strikers. It can block creatures regardless of size and keep them tapped down. Trophy Hunter costed barely less than this for a non-snow mana ability of the same nature. Matsu Tribe elder did something similar for :1mana::symg:. Then again, thos two creatures were only amazing against fliers. This creature is adept at blocking Phyrexian Dreadnoughts if need be.
Flavor (1/2) - It works as a sniper as it only has to hit the creature once to incapacitate it. It can also hit it out of combat. However, the ability to spray arrows given enough mana is questionable for a sniper.
Flavor Text (0.5/1) - It's there, but it doesn't make much sense. Is it implying that this 'doctrine' applies to only enemies? If so, why does the pacifism only work on fliers?
Quality (3/3) - No problems
Creativity (1/4) - Trophy Hunter + Matsu-Tribe Sniper on an Elvish Archer TOTAL - (18.00/25.00)
Cantripmancer
Bonus (4/4)
Art (1/1) - I don't see the 'enchantment' there. But the Artifact certainly shows.
Balance (6/10) - The possibility of a self-destruction is an acceptable drawback. However, it's one of the most efficient disenchant/naturalize effects around. For less, you get a disenchant at sorcery speed which is not all that devastating considering the existence of cards such as Demistify and Oxidize in instant-speed. Just as you hold those cards in hand until a viable target shows up, you hold this in hand. However, this card not only destroys one of their artifacts and/or enchantments, but throws down a nice 3/3 body as well. I could see a one-mana naturalize in sorcery form being strong as it is. Putting a 3/3 body on it is just heavy. If you really wanted, you could destroy one of your own artifacts or enchantments to have your 3/3 body.
Flavor (0.5/2) - What the hell is an artifact enchantment anyways? Enchantments are immaterial whereas artifacts are tangible. Combining the two in a creature makes a beast of questionable existence. The 'crude' existence, however, makes sense as it can blow itself up. Green artifact creatures seem rather odd seeing as how green is least likely to make them, even to destroy artifacts.
Flavor Text (1/1) - I laughed
Quality (3/3)
Creativity (4/4) - An artifact enchantment creature has never been done before. Although this has never been done for good reason, the points were deducted in flavor as appropriate. Nevertheless, you functionally applies a generally black ability onto a green creature with color-appropriate results. TOTAL - (19.50/25.00)
Ace
Bonus (4/4)
Art (1/1) - Nice anglerfish-merfolk hybrid
Balance (5/10) - Depending on your opponent, you will be scrying a lot. If Cryptic Annelid taught us anything, scrying several times in a row is useful yet a drain of time. If you can scry 2 or 4 for each and every creature that attacks you each and every turn, that will be a severe drain of time. In multiples, you will be scrying very often. This is all given your opponent attacks at all. In that case, you're paying :1mana::symu: to dissuade your opponent from attacking or attacking in multiples. Even if your opponent attacks at all, you get to give that creature -3/-0 if you're playing enough blue. In MUC, this would not be a problem. In a control deck, this is perfect as it doesn't need any upkeep to run and activate. It helps stack your library and it prevents attackers. It's cheap enough to play and have mana for counterspells.
Flavor (2/2) - the -X/-0 is very blue. Being reactive is blue. No real problems here.
Flavor Text (0.5/1) - It's cliche and predictable, yet it works.
Quality (2/3) - The kicker cost doesn't work that way as it has serious memory issues. You need a reminder that the kicker has been paid. For example, the volvers had a varying number of +1/+1 counters to indicate which kickers had been paid. Kangee, Aerie Keeper had feather counters to indicate this. Other creatures had no memory issues as theirs was a one-time effect or an effect that ended soon (Skizzik.)
Creativity (3/4) - It certainly hasn't ever been done before TOTAL - (17.50/25.00)

Disciple of Tides U
Creature - Human Wizard (C) 1U, t: Tap or untap target permanent. Prathas's acolytes gained power over the ebb and flow of reality itself.
1/1
Seamist Barrier U Creature - Elemental Wall (Common) Defender Flying Seamist Barrier can't block creatures without flying. U: Seamist Barrier can block creatures without flying until end of turn. Before one can defeat an isle, one must conquer the oceans to reach it. 0/5
Point breakdown: Bonus: (4.5/5): The art is alittle low quality, but the concept fits the card. Balance: (8.5/10): Well, it’s a wall, so it’s not going to be winning any games. It’s inability to block grounders (normally) makes it a fairly inefficient wall. But, you can’t resist the ability stop any attacker with power 4 or less, even if it costs U a turn. Control decks will most likely sideboard it, in case their opponent uses lots of fliers, but otherwise they may prefer Drift of Phantoms if they need a wall (one-time payment, plus the ability to Transmute). F/C/Q: (8.5/10): Flavor: Everything about it seems to make sense to me. No issues. Creativity: Well, I want to mark you down for creativity, simply because all my guys did blue walls... We’ve seen “only block flying creatures” before, and if fits in blue fine. Quality: Other than the art (already stated), it seems fine. Final: 21.5/25
Diamondplate Oyster 2U Artifact Creature - Clam Equipment Equipped creature gains defender, shroud, +0/+3, and is indestructible. Equip 1U You may equip ~ to creatures you do not control. "Hep! Geh mit orff!" - Last words, Gorag, goblin marine life expert 0/3
Point breakdown: Bonus: (5/5): All in line. Balance: (6/10): Oh, wow. This is trying to be too many things, and breaks so many rules. So, you can equip this to another player’s creature, and still attack or block with it. It’s power level is about right, but the number of rule issues this will raise just makes it too much of a headache. F/C/Q: (8/10): Flavor: Fortunately, the elements all come together nicely flavor-wise. Creativity: Just had to make it a clam, didn’t you? You want to make a creature equipment? Fine. You want to make an equipment you can attach to your opponent’s creatures? Go ahead. Do them both on the same card when neither has been done before? A bit much. Quality: Some minor wording issues, and you should have used the cards name instead of ~ in the text version. Final: 19/25
I am going to do a judging on Skitsojd's card, even though he automatically proceeds since pikaejns didn't post a card. Skit wins, this is just so he can see how he did. I'll get it up soon, promise.

Disciple of Tides U
Creature - Human Wizard (C) 1U,t: Tap or untap target permanent. Prathas's acolytes gained power over the ebb and flow of reality itself.
1/1 Bonus 5/5 Nice Picture Balance 8/10 All you have done is taken Psychic Puppetry and put it on a body. There really wasn’t much to balance here as it was all done for you! What I really want to compare it to is Twiddle on Isochron Scepter and in that situation, you don’t have to commit to the blue in the cost. The creature itself seems reasonably costed. FCQ 6/10 Flavour: I’m not sure who Pratha is… but the name meshes well with the ability and even without knowing who Pratha is it all makes sense. Creativity: Very little creativity here, there are a lot of blue human wizards out there that tap or untap things. And all it really is, as mentioned above, is a Twiddle on an Isochron Scepter on a 1/1 body. It’s just boring. Quality: Look at any card that does similar (there are plenty) Tidal Bore is a good enough one… “You may tap or untap target permanent” is the correct wording. TOTAL: 19/25 Magnasaur 2GG
Creature - Beast
If Magnasaur would deal combat damage
to a player, that player may sacrifice an
artifact, enchantment, or land. If that
player does, prevent that damage.
Its insatiable appetite is its greatest strength...
and also its greatest weakness. 5/5 Bonus 5/5 Like the art. Balance 9/10 It all seems well balanced here, a cheaper than normal big beast with an Achilles heel as it were. I Like it. Nothing much more to say on the matter. FCQ 8/10 Flavour: I don’t really understand why you could feed it an enchantment… artifacts and lands are at least things that you would feed to it to distract it from killing you, yes, but enchantments are magical “auras” that affect either one thing or global things, so how could you feed them to it? Other than that, the flavour is spot on. Creativity: All new and interesting. I like the idea of sacrificing your own stuff to stop this guy from monching you. Quality: No problems. (COPYRIGHT LINE GRRRR – no points deducted though) TOTAL: 22/25 Manavorous Oddity 1UU
Creature - Illusion
Flying U, Return a spell you control to its owner's hand: Manavorous Oddity gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the returned spell's converted mana cost. It drifts around until it finds a wizard preparing a spell, then swoops in to drink the mana before he can finish casting it. 1/1 Bonus 5/5 Perfect picture for a flying illusion Balance 4/10 So, what this actually reads is “Play this spell I want on the table, and when it gets countered pay U and get the spell back to try again later and oh, look, this 1/1 flyer just got humungous and is gonna come eat you now” granted, it’s a little wordy but you get my idea. It’s blue, so on colour for trying to avoid counterspells and since when is blue allowed big monchy pumping things that you can drop on turn three? Without having to put in huge land commitments that is. FCQ 8.5/10 Flavour: I like the flavour here, not sure that the flavour text is entirely good as all it is doing is restating what the card does. It could have been improved by saying why it does it or anything a bit further outside of the box. Creativity: Excellently innovative pumping ability. Quality: No problems whatsoever. TOTAL: 17.5/25 Fa'adiyah Witness2GG
Creature - Human Shaman
When Fa'adiyah Witness comes into play you may return target green card from your graveyard to your hand.
Suspend 3—1G
Whenever a time counter is removed from Fa'adiyah Witness, if it's suspended, draw a card and reveal it. If it isn't a land card, discard it. "My visions show me the past brightening our future."
2/1 Bonus 5/5 Nice picture Balance 7/10 This is a wonderfully green card. I love the suspended ability, I would be tempted to make it cost 2G bearing in mind the main ability will still trigger when it comes into play, but then it wouldn’t be in keeping with Fa’adiyah Seer. The Eternal Witness ability suggests that at 2GG, the main creature is a bit too expensive bearing in mind that this card restricts it to a green card, and the second ability is ignored if you are only considering it’s casting cost. FCQ 7/10 Flavour: I love the flavour of this card, the flavour text is a nice touch. Creativity: Neither of the abilities is new in any way. The combination is nice and new, especially using the suspend part for the drawing part. But it is just a combination of two of green’s human shamans. Quality: Missing comma… “When Fa'adiyah Witness comes into play, you may return target green card from your graveyard to your hand.” Other than that – its good. TOTAL: 19/25 Match 3: Jaxal1 19 vs. arimnaes 22

Creativity (3/4) - It certainly hasn't ever been done before

0/5
Point breakdown:
Bonus: (4.5/5): The art is alittle low quality, but the concept fits the card.
F/C/Q: (8.5/10):
Flavor: Everything about it seems to make sense to me. No issues.
Creativity: Well, I want to mark you down for creativity, simply because all my guys did blue walls... We’ve seen “only block flying creatures” before, and if fits in blue fine.
Quality: Other than the art (already stated), it seems fine.
Final: 21.5/25

0/3
Point breakdown:
Bonus: (5/5): All in line.
Balance: (6/10): Oh, wow. This is trying to be too many things, and breaks so many rules. So, you can equip this to another player’s creature, and still attack or block with it. It’s power level is about right, but the number of rule issues this will raise just makes it too much of a headache.
F/C/Q: (8/10):
Flavor: Fortunately, the elements all come together nicely flavor-wise.

All you have done is taken Psychic Puppetry and put it on a body. There really wasn’t much to balance here as it was all done for you! What I really want to compare it to is Twiddle on Isochron Scepter and in that situation, you don’t have to commit to the blue in the cost. The creature itself seems reasonably costed.
FCQ 6/10
Flavour:
I’m not sure who Pratha is… but the name meshes well with the ability and even without knowing who Pratha is it all makes sense.
Creativity:
Very little creativity here, there are a lot of blue human wizards out there that tap or untap things. And all it really is, as mentioned above, is a Twiddle on an Isochron Scepter on a 1/1 body. It’s just boring.
Quality:
Look at any card that does similar (there are plenty) Tidal Bore is a good enough one… “You may tap or untap target permanent” is the correct wording.

Balance 9/10
It all seems well balanced here, a cheaper than normal big beast with an Achilles heel as it were. I Like it. Nothing much more to say on the matter.
FCQ 8/10
Flavour:
I don’t really understand why you could feed it an enchantment… artifacts and lands are at least things that you would feed to it to distract it from killing you, yes, but enchantments are magical “auras” that affect either one thing or global things, so how could you feed them to it? Other than that, the flavour is spot on.
Creativity:
All new and interesting. I like the idea of sacrificing your own stuff to stop this guy from monching you.
Quality:
No problems. (COPYRIGHT LINE GRRRR – no points deducted though)

1/1
Bonus 5/5
Perfect picture for a flying illusion
Balance 4/10
So, what this actually reads is “Play this spell I want on the table, and when it gets countered pay U and get the spell back to try again later and oh, look, this 1/1 flyer just got humungous and is gonna come eat you now” granted, it’s a little wordy but you get my idea. It’s blue, so on colour for trying to avoid counterspells and since when is blue allowed big monchy pumping things that you can drop on turn three? Without having to put in huge land commitments that is.
FCQ 8.5/10
Flavour:
I like the flavour here, not sure that the flavour text is entirely good as all it is doing is restating what the card does. It could have been improved by saying why it does it or anything a bit further outside of the box.
Creativity:
Excellently innovative pumping ability.
Quality:
No problems whatsoever.

Nice picture
Balance 7/10
This is a wonderfully green card.
FCQ 7/10
Flavour:
I love the flavour of this card, the flavour text is a nice touch.
Creativity:
Neither of the abilities is new in any way. The combination is nice and new, especially using the suspend part for the drawing part. But it is just a combination of two of green’s human shamans.
Quality:
Missing comma… “When Fa'adiyah Witness comes into play, you may return target green card from your graveyard to your hand.” Other than that – its good.
