I'll need to point that in Europe, some people need to Google who Brett Favre is. but at least it only took 36 seconds or so (or maybe 37, who knows).
The power equation would have been pretty bad since 75 to the power of 75 would take a lot of space and effort. Might have been worth the Mirror Universe to see that though.
Sorry if this is a bit long, but I feel quite strongly that the art is one of the things that makes MtG flourish and gives the cards character.
My favourite arts have to be some custom drawn ones I have asked for the artists to draw or modify. Since not too many artist visit Finland, those are few and treasured. My nicest ones include:
- Verdant Force in a tuxedo, but DiTerlizzi
- Warhamster Mox by John Kovalics drawn on top of peeled foil-card, inspired by Warhamster: the Gathering-jokes from the Dork Tower -comic (Warhamster Mox: 0 cost, tap to destroy any land). John used to play Magic during the early days btw.
- And my pride and joy. A PT-player's pass with a really nice faerie-sketch that Christopher Moller's daughter drew for me at PT Kobe (She was about 8 years old and bored to death, when everybody just wanted to have his father to sign cards.)
Regular favourites are
-Spencer's FE cards, that have the names of three players hidden in the art (Goblin Grenade(Mike), Order of the Ebon-Hand (Josh) and Thallid(Chad)). I'll let Ron tell the story himself, since he tells it quite well.
- The art I like to talk about the most Browse, just click the link and try to read what's written on the pages floating around. Hilarious.
- The most it's-right-there-stoopid art are on some cards by Robert Bliss. Story is that Wizards kicked him out after some of those. I wonder why... Ekundu Cyclops and Goblin Soothsayer. Letting him paint Keening Banshee was a real suprise after those. And Matthew Wilson's Skyshroud Troll fits the same category (Also no comissions after Masques).
Hey guys, awesome show. My favorite card art is actually from Morningtide, which is Declaration of Naught, not only it is a beautiful card, but with over 40 different cards you can counter, you can also counter all the copies in their deck or on the stack. The look of pure magic or blue magic wiping out the landscape looks awesome to me, and I got 2 from my 2HG pool that my teammate let me have, after going undefeated, with a teammate I'd never even met before that day. 2nd Place would have to goto the Textless Foil Wrath of God, although Damnation was cool, Textless *** totally blew my mind the first time I saw one, and it was the first time I had seen a textless card before.
Thanks for the show, and Gavin... that was just amazing. =P
I was listening to the cast as I posted this so I forgot to put it on my original post so I will do it know. The codeword/number is 42 and Brett Favre X 10 raised to the power of negative 20,000,000
I'm sure that 45 or 135 is the correct answer here, as well as being the number of one of the Packers. Does Garruk play for Green Bay?
I just wanted to chime in with art that I like, but I don't think it's my favorite over all. I've always liked the original picture for Elves of Deep Shadow. The image is so entrancing, I love it. I've also always been a big fan of all of the stuffy doll artwork; the rack, black vise, stuffy doll. I want a plush version of that little guy to sit next to my computer.
Hey Gavin, it's called "exponent form", or even "raised to the power of". For example 2 "raised to the power of" 3 is 2*2*2, or eight. When using a computer it is denoted with a caret (^), or shift+6.
What are we doing for a password next week? The Summation of X*i from i=1 to 5, where X is equal to the post number. (Image included for Simplicity Sake). Bonus points for Gavin, if he has a clue.
As for my favorite card art it has to Juzam Djinn. It is just so funny to look at. You got a huge Djinn, picking up some guy. And the Djinn's like "I'm gonna eat you", and the Guy, now named Donald, is like "hoLee **** ".
I really want one of those. Last time I priced one, it was about $180.46.
Firstly, goodbye to dom, our british listening outlet. And hello to derek the silent co-host. I've just started tuning in to the podcast again after a hard unviersity term, I also just got back from FNM(after getting a lot of good morningtide swag no less:D). I like your coverage of the whole tenesse thing with worlds along with the ending of the morningtide mojo. The cards I have wanted to get so far was knowledge exploitation and Notorious Throng, and I just got them today:cool:. I wonder what cards you guys have been looking forward to from morningtide?
In any case my favorite card was the blue wizard champion of onslaught Arcanis the omnipotent, hes also one of my favorite creatures.
Keep up the good work!!
I havent heard a pocast like yous since ol Craig Nall, 141 podcasts and 47 series!!
My favorite card art eh? I'd have to say it's the 10th edition version of Gaea's Herald (by Jim Murray). Theres just so much going on in that frame of art that i find it mezmerizing. I'm also a fan of Radha, Heir to Keld. The broken sword, blood splatter and severed head is an incredible peice of work.
My favorite card art is probably Atog. Frightening and somewhat non-threatening at the same time. A long time ago, when I owned 49 (or was it 147 or 117,649... whatever it was a lot) I considered wallpapering my room with them, but it frightened my friends Sterling Sharpe and Dorsey Levens so much that my dad Bart replaced it with Starrs.
I remember at my prerelease at least 6 of the people in the sealed were using the battle axe, they were the real chase uncommon for us. I got 3 and another one afterwards :D. It had a really nice synergy with the chase common which was Gametrail Changeling (which we called Jelly Moose).
The wand is also very good. The staff works nicely with lightning crafter.
In draft we had one guy who drafted 7 latchkey fairies, he hammered me as I had no flying defence :-/.
I really like the set, especially in limited. I've made my Warrior tribal deck for T2 which is shaping up to be really nice.

That's a pretty dramatic excuse for missing the prerelease Tom. I believe babies are like a hurricane or a tidal wave. We must approach them as we would a force of nature. We must understand them, deal with them, perhaps even try to communicate with them. (Babyjilla, 1954)
As for favourite Magic card art, who can't go past a little monkey lovin' in the hilarious art of Uktabi Orangutan. Maybe the monkey's just playing a little football and receiving as QB, just like Brett Favre. However, the card art on Uktabi Kong begs to differ...
EDIT: Woo #100th post!

I can't get the image of Stuffy Doll caught in 'that rack' out of my mind now... that would make for some great card art.
LISTEN TO MAH SONGZ!

Yeah. I figured if Gavin didn't know the difference between exponents and simple multiplication, he'd be scratching his head.
46*1 + 46*2 + 46*3 + 46*4 + 46*5 = 46 + 92 + 138 + 184 + 230 = 690
Although when I see the posters in this forum, maybe he was faking it to see how many of the posters he could confuse.
