What exaclty is the card that outclasses Aninmate dead as a reanimator? It we're talking power level, that is.
For tournament play? Dread return is basically free in dredge. Reanimate is cheaper in mana cost. And Makeshift Mannequin is a powerhouse in type 2 at instant speed. And none of them can be disenchanted.

Outclassed? None of those cards outclasses Animate Dead. To start with, Zombify, Makeshift Mannequin, and Exhume are all weaker. I have no interest in paying twice as much (4) for a reanimation spell, nor do I want to give my opponent a creature, nor do I think being able to be disenchanted is anywhere near as bad as not being able to be targeted at all (again for twice the mana). And Dread return is better in combo, but being great in combo doesn't make you any better overall. Besides, Animate dead has its own moment of combo glory, and that moment in the sun was it wrecking Vintage, not Extended.
This card is good in the cube, but is costlier by a mana and a creature. Reanimator does not want to wait for an underling to plop a zombie akroma. Really, reanimate is the only card I can see actually having a chance to overtake animate dead in the reanimator category. Life/Death also might come close.

You should consider something about exhume: reanimator decks don't ususally aim to kill opposing creatures, they aim at getting huge beaters on the board ASAP. Usually, by turn 3 or 4 (turn after Buried Alive is cast), the opponent has no creatures in the graveyard. One too many times I've had an akroma swinging at my face after a first turn Putrid Imp and a second turn Exhume.
"All these people having fun are playing for a gigantic 40000$ award, while I'm here sweating, players asking me stupid layer questions we all hate, and I'm thirsty.

I too have built a reanimator deck that frequently played Exhume long before my opponent even had an opportunity to get something in the graveyard. I'm not saying Animate Dead is bad, it's just that it's a card WotC has felt comfortable messing around with in concept, giving us alot more options.

Yeah, I realise that. However Exhume is no good if they do have something in the yard, such as if you didn't get to go off early, or you're facing a mirror match or something that has a threat in the yard. For the same cost and at the threat of a disenchant, you don't offer your opponent a creature.
I'm not saying Exhume is worse. I'm saying it doesn't outclass Animate Dead.
Yeah, make sure you know what you're arguing before you tl;dr, right? Animate Dead has unique functionality that makes it randomly degenerate. Except for Recurring Nightmare, none of the other cards listed can make that claim.
The Called don't play Necropotence. Random clans, you have two hours to make a difference!

I understand this was a well intended joke and that's why you're not getting an infraction, but this was borderlining Spam with all those empty lines - votan

Zombify, Exhume, Reanimate, Dread Return... if I wanted to bring a creature back from my graveyard, I'd play any of these over Animate Dead.
