Patrician's Scorn has the victorian art.
Actually, most Orzhov flavored stuff fits.
But yeah, Vampire dude totally looks like Alucard, or any of the similar looking dudes from Castlevania.
Also, why is he a planeswalker?
We thought Oona was one, remember?
I won't take this alone as confirmation.
Am I crazy os does the Patrician's Scorn alternate cost seem like a possibility for the whole "mana behaves in strange ways in Zendikar" thing from The Purifying Fire?
Also, Sorin looks totally badass, as it's been said a thousand times. I hope he's a planeswalker but, regardless of card type, I must get some copies.
I'm not so sure about the Victorian vibe you guys are getting. It doesn't fit at all with the set name.
As the vampire guy is obscuring most of the background, we can't really see enough to get a fix on the style of the wall. To me, it could easily be a temple interior. I'll try and find a better reference, but here are screens from Diablo 2 act III that fit fairly well: http://newd2event.net/index.php?id=maps/act3
EDIT: because I love etymology -
Romanian backs up the Vampire spec, but it isn't arabian sounding like Zendikar or Nissa Revane. The flavour of this block confuses me.
Lol... the temple's in Diablo are Victorian...
Also... this guy so looks like a Young Kain from Blood Omen

Dude, remember when Wotc said in some article that they didn't need to make Planeswalkers a cycle or a monocolored cycle of cards? That's because they showed them as individuals that had their own personal goal that usually made them different colors AND that they came from different places that made them even more particular (If you knew the flavor of Lorwyn before it was released, would you have guessed that Ajani was in that block?).
That said, Sorin may perfectly be in Zendikar if he's a planeswalker as he is an idividual character from his own natal plane that came to Zendikar looking to achieve his goal.
Also, I'm happy people here are starting to forget the idea of pirates, mesoamerican type of world. I'm persoanlly in for the Hindu/Arabian/Mirage type, however, that obelisks in the promo card kinda looked like almost Time spiral Mountains, because of the colors and shape.
I think I've learned to treat Magic cards like baseball cards: keep 'em in a binder in numerical order, don't play with 'em, try to finish the set and just keep my head down.
Let's See.... The fact here is I have never posted before, but I do have very some very real inside information to add.
Chandra is in Zendikar.
Chandra will not be mono-colored.
The artist for the new Chandra is doing the art on at least one other planswalker in Zendikar.

We know Chandra is in Zendikar, that is the point of this thread.
Chandra likely will not be mono-colored, even though the art strongly suggests REDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.
Justin Sweet drew Nissa? Who drew this Chandra art, does anyone know?

Nothing in this game is degenerate or completely dominant. They haven't banned anything in standard in a long, long time. Hell they should have banned affinity right away, but they didn't until boxed sales collapsed too. Hasbro had to come in and fire people.
I'll enjoy watching all the whiners eat crow monday.
So what if Sorin doesn't seem to match what everyone thinks of the plane? If he's a planeswalker he doesn't have to be native to Zendikar and therefore does not have to conform to its native flavor.
Oh I'd say Chandra went through some serious character development in the novel. Come to think, I never did say how so...
Basically, the Purifying Fire helped her let go of her rather traumatic past (which roughly amounted to indirectly killing her family). I'd call that serious development, wouldn't you?
Plus, she gets a boyyyfrieeend. Well, sort of. It's pretty obvious the two of them get some feelings for each other.
and vampires are all soulless (please everyone, do not ask me if this is true for sure, just take it as a confirmed fact), ergo a vampire planeswalker is normally not possible (I've included the word 'normally' just in case, because if there's anything I've learned from the Magic novels, it is that nothing is impossible if the writer wants it that way)
But what if he was bitten after his Spark ignited PW's do still have Mortal Bodys we know will his Spark vanish or will he stay a PW is the question.
Also if Chandra isn't Mono Red (her Card screams "I'am Red an Burn your House down" but who knows) what is she then
R/W would be cool but dont't seem so
R/U hmmm not so either
R/B could be possible her armour looks a bit darker
R/G could explain the I'am pissed and angry look on her Face

Although, if there's another Planeswalker in Zendikar, I'm pretty sure it's not my artwork. I'd remember doing that... I was so excited to work on Chandra that my nipples cut holes in my t-shirt. If I had two planeswalkers... I'd probably be dead of superjoyitisosis, (closed casket because the smile on my face couldn't be removed with a jackhammer.)
Unless maybe you know something I don't... TELL ME!
I normally don't get hyped up with vampires because I always thought they were pretty boring unlike everyone else. However the artwork for this vampire planeswalker is BADASS.

Started playing since Invasion, stopped at Scourge. Returned briefly during BoK's introduction of ninjas. Finally back into magic during Shadowmoor/Eventide.
Currently Running Bant Control and a homebrew Blightning Echoes for Type 2.

Based on the pics, Chandra looks B/R while Sorin looks B/W. I like this and hope they make the cards that way since we haven't had those colors before. Also are we gonna get 5 Planeswalkers in this block like we did with Alara and Lorwyn?

I can only speculate here, but I think he'd lose his Spark even then. You know what happens to someone when he becomes an undead? He always loses his soul. Sometimes, in the case of skeletons and zombies (excluding liches and similar stuff), this involves a total loss of memories, personality, and everything what made the guy himself - he remains a mindless body driven by hunger or simply his master's command. Vampires are elite-class undead creatures who maintain their wits, but they still lose their soul in the process of transformation. And if the Spark is truly bound to the soul, then it will go together with it.
Yeah you seem right sadly i want to see a Vampire PW but time will tell maybe he is one maybe not his Art is cool in either way
That's exactly the reason why I think she's monored. No color combination seems to fit...
R/B or R/G seems to fit a little Mono Red would be a bit boring but atleast she got new Abilities and a new bad ass Art i want a Wallpaper Size Image for my Background

A Spark is connected to one's soul (although there are some extremely rare circumstances under which it can be 'disconnected' and transferred into an another sentient being - see The Fifth Dawn ;)), and vampires are all soulless (please everyone, do not ask me if this is true for sure, just take it as a confirmed fact), ergo a vampire planeswalker is normally not possible
Interesting. There was this "letter of the week" asking if a lich could be a planeswalker:
There are certain experiences which can damage or destroy one's spark, which may include (this is like the fine print on a prescription drug ad) terrible magics, substantial injury to the mind, bodily death, and/or other causes. Even though you, as a powerful and intricate-plan-devising planeswalker, might set yourself up with ample enchantments to trigger on the event of your death, and even though your magics might return your body to life and even perhaps return a substantial portion of your former magical power to you—your spark may not survive. Death is bad news. Nicol Bolas has said that both birth and death are reversible, but I'm not sure that every consequence of death is completely reversible.
Now, I try not to say "never"—the usual caveat in Magic is that the right mage, given the right amount of knowledge, time, resources, and mana, can do just about anything. So is it possible to retain your ignited spark into undeath, or to retain an unignited one, and have it ignite while an undead creature? Most of the time, probably not, no. But maybe, under very specific circumstances, with just the right conditions in place—you know what I mean?
Vampires are undead, so either Sorin is a special circumstance as a vampire PW or you're right and he's just a creature.
EDIT: He could always be a Vampire Hunter D rip-off or be some kind of half-undead nonsense!
Although, if there's another Planeswalker in Zendikar, I'm pretty sure it's not my artwork. I'd remember doing that... I was so excited to work on Chandra that my nipples cut holes in my t-shirt. Are you sure they didn't burn a hole through your t-shirt? This is Chandra after all. *runs before bad joke police arrives*
If anything, aren't you the guy that could potentially tell us things*, like everything they had you draw for the upcoming block? There are plenty of "experts" here, we'll take care of the "what is this for" for you, and get back to you if Wizards slipped you a second planeswalker without saying.
* Not that I think you should, because I want them to not kill you for spoilerz; I like your work.

Shenanigans!! I hate goblins, but lurve Shenanigans.
I'd prefer Sorin to be a legendary creature too. More cost efficient vampires would be great to have.
Agreed. With Vampire Nocturnus, I went searching for potential Vampire cards to build a Vampire deck with, and as with angels, they pretty much start around 4-6+ mana (with some exceptions), so a few more 1-3 mana vampires would be appreciated. Perhaps with Nocturnus acting as something of a quasi-lord, we'll see some more vampires (particularly flightless ones, as it's an odd ability to grant to creatures whom mostly have flight to begin with)?
I had a slight epiphany: Every planeswalker card we've had thus far has shown the full figure of the person in question. Sorin doesn't meet that qualification, sadly (Oona, at least, did). The perspective is still doable, but what part of the artwork would stick outside of the frame?

They spoiled the art with the soda, so that's fair to share. I'm sure the art description is not (and Mr. Argyle would like the opportunity to do another planeswalker :)).
Any ideas how that would fit in the frame? The flame emanating from her hands cut off at edges, what's gonna "pop-out"?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't card-sleeve artworks usually full-size artwork from the start, and later adjusted for the card itself? Oona threw us off for quite a while until spoiler season came in, as I recall, because she was full-size artwork like the Lorwyn planeswalkers.
For Chandra: I imagine it'll be her burning hands this time. The hair might be a little troublesome this time around, since I suspect her card name will be longer than last time.
