Gnarlflesh, Rot LichBBGG
Legendary Creature - Zombie Wizard
If damage would be dealt to Gnarlflesh, put twice that many cards from the top of your library into your graveyard instead.
Permanent cards in your graveyard have dredge 5.

Loam Keeper3GG

Dredge 5

Thanks for the compliment, Asrama! Considering this month's emphasis on flavor, I felt a story would be fun to write. And so far you've set up some sweet scenarios, so I can't take all the credit.
And I would hate to hassle someone who has to add up scores for 20+ players, but I think my score is wrong. I added up to 13, plus 1 for posting the top 3.
Sigiled Squire
Creature - Human Soldier
If Sigiled Squire is attacking, you may sacrifice it. If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.
1/1 Squires of Knights often never see the knighthood themselves. That however, doesn't mean they are forgotten.
Sechumtij, Knight of Rhox
Legendary Creature - Rhox Knight
Exalted, Trample
Whenever a creature you control attacks alone, it gains trample until begining of the end step
Seizo, Death's StenchBB
Legendary Creature - Spirit Demon [u]
Fear
Other creatures you control get -1/-1
When Seizo, Death's Stench enters or leaves the battlefield, target player loses life equal to the toughness of target creature you control.
3/1
Just a friendly reminder that in kamigawa uncommon legendary creatures were normal
EDIT: Not trying to be a pain, but I should have 8 points: 1 third place + 1 second place + 1 first place + top 3 + critiques. Thanks, Asrama
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to bow out this month. Too much to do, as should be evidenced by my substandard submission last week. My sincere apologies.

Vela of Vela Ves :3mana::symw:

"It's going to be ok" one boggart said to another. Squib still felt nervous, but his new boggart friend reassured him yet again.
Things hadn't gone well for Squib. First, he fell into a new world. Then he couldn't find any of his warren buddies. Then he almost got eaten by ... something. It was a creature he had never seen; it reminded him of a giant, but was covered in metal and large, pointy teeth. It was being followed by something with feathery wings, but it wasn't a faerie. A little while later, Squib had to hide from a creature that looked like similar to an elf, but it's ears wern't pointy.
Auntie Grub didn't have any advice on dealing with time-rifts. But luckily, he found another boggart, who had given him a new toy. Squib thought the toy looked dangerous, but this new boggart was here to reassure him.
"It's going to be ok" the new boggart yelled again, carefully standing a few paces away from Squib. "Just jump into the rift, and pull the string." Squib still wasn't sure about doing this, but his new friend seemed so certain. So why not?
Taking a gulp of breath, Squib jumped head first into the rift and pulled the string. He never saw what happened next: a heartbreath later, the temporal energies of the rift tore his body apart.
Squib's new friend watched from a safe distance, before transforming back into her natural changeling form. Clearly forcing the rift open wasn't going to work. Ah well. There were still lots of other willing test subjects around. Sooner or later, one way or another, she would figure out how to get back home.
Boggart BomberR
Creature - Goblin Shaman (C) Kinship — At the beginning of your upkeep, you may look at the top card of your library. If it shares a creature type with Boggart Bomber, you may reveal it. If you do, sacrifice Boggart Bomber and Boggart Bomber deals 3 damage to target creature or player.
1/1 It takes two boggarts to detonate the bomb: one to pull the trigger, one to convince the other it’s a good idea.
Get it? You would like to sacrifice it because if you do, you get to bolt your opponent. Yea creative interpretation.
Arcbound Steelworker6
Artifact creature - Construct (U)
Modular 4

Golgari Riftwurm4:symbg::symbg: Creature-Wurm Zombie {Uncommon} Trample When Golgari Riftwurm is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, put the top X cards of your library into your graveyard, where X is equal to Golgari Riftwurm’s power. Dredge 2 Through an alliance with the Simic Combine, the Golgari were able to develop the ultimate test subject – one that doesn’t die and still contributes to the cycle of life and death. 6/5 Illus. Dénes Nagy
Golgari Riftwurm is a nice card on many levels. It really puts Craw Wurm to shame; for the same cost, you get +0/+1, trample and a recursion ability that allows it to come back over and over again, Genesis-style. It's definitely a Limited powerhouse. On the Constructed side of things, it interacts well with other Dredge cards as well as Threshold and Flashback, so that's a cool bonus. I suppose the Riftwurm's closest competitor is Golgari Grave-Troll but there is definitely a distinction between the two.
That is some great art you found there - it almost looks like the wurm is bursting from a rift. Microtext doesn't look so good, but the additional flavor makes up for it.
Ironstead Martyrs 3(R/W)(R/W)
Creature - Goblin Berserker
First strike
When Ironstead Martyrs leaves the battlefield, it deals damage equal to the damage dealt to it this turn divided as you choose among any number of target creatures that dealt damage to you or a creature you control this turn.
4/1
Ironstead Martyrs is definitely a formidable creature in Limited environments. It's Keldon Halberdier but it adds a little extra for those 5+ toughness creatures and other first strike critters that are the bane of this style of card. That's good. I'm a little bummered that Lava Dart and other burn spells can kill the Martyrs without repercussion, but white shouldn't have access to direct burn anyway. In consideration of Ironstead Martyrs' abilities and power/toughness, I feel a mana cost of :3mana::symr::symw: woud be most appropriate - a 4/1 first striker seems too aggressive for someone playing monowhite. Overall, Ironstead Martyrs is a decent card.
Whispering Entomber4BB
Creature - Spirit (U)
Soulshift 5
When ~ is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, you may search your library for a Spirit creature card and put it into your graveyard. If you do, shuffle your library.
6/2
Woah, a 6/2 Soulshift creature for only :4mana::symb::symb:? Given the crappy mana cost-to-p/t ratios of black Soulshift cards that made print (Crawling Filth, Kami of Lunacy and Pus Kami, I'm looking at you), Whispering Entomber is a huge improvement over those underpowered cards. The interaction between the two graveyard-related abilities is implemented perfectly here. A Soulshift of 5 means there's a number of excellent Spirit-y targets for this card - Demigod of Revenge, Chameleon Colossus and Ghost Council of Orzhova would all like to say hi. On the flip side, you could also have separate Entomb and Raise Dead targets too, so that's a nifty bonus. This sort of ingenious design was sorely lacking among the Spirits of the Kamigawa Block, so I'm glad you did them justice. Well done!
Ternion of Jailers3(B/R)W
Creature-Spirit Soldier {U}
Exile Ternion of Jailers: Exile all creatures that were dealt 3 or more damage this turn.
3/3
I took a liking to this card when I first saw it. Its activated ability is something I haven't seen before, ensuring that even creatures with high toughnesses are removed from play regardless of whether it was combat damage, or damage from a burn spell. In practicality, the card is probably not as strong as it could have been. I'm not expecting the next False Prophet at uncommon rarity, but the majority of creatures will die after receiving 3 damage. Against Treefolk and Wall decks, Ternion of Jailers does shine, but the high mana cost and the exiling cost compromises the overall effectiveness of this card. I still like it though. And I also learnt the meaning of a new word ('ternion'), so that is nice too.
Thought Scourger3UB
Creature - Nightmare {U}
When Thought Scourger is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, you may search your library for a card with the same converted mana cost as this card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your library.
Transmute (, Discard this card: Search your library for a card with the same converted mana cost as this card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your library. Transmute only as a sorcery.)
3/2
This is an interesting card. At the very least, its a 3/2 creature that can grab further copies of itself when it dies. That's somewhat useful. On the other hand, you have offered a unique spin on the Transmute mechanic by allowing a similar effect to trigger upon the creature's death. It's a fun ability that I could certainly see on cards of differing converted mana costs. With Thought Scourger in particular, you choose to grab a Tezzeret or Nemesis of Reason immediately or pay a little extra to get a 3/2 creature to boot. That's cool. However, I'm wondering whether the costs should be different though. Looking at Reveillark, the Evoke is higher costing than the playing of the creature itself as you get the effect straight away. Also, I'm not sure why you chose Nightmare as its creature type - Thought Scourger doesn't really share the enters battlefield/leaves battlefield mechanic of previous Nightmare creatures (Nightmare itself being the exception). Otherwise, it's a well designed card that fits Dimir very nicely.
Arcbound Steelworker6
Artifact creature - Construct (U)
Modular 4
Whenever Arcbound Steelworker is put into the graveyard from anywhere, up to one target non-artifact creature becomes an artifact creature until end of turn. The steelworkers contain a few useful components which can be used to augment living tissue. It is a painful procedure, but often worth it.
0/0
I wouldn't have been surprised to see Arcbound Steelworker in Future Sight; after all, it offers an exciting new take on an old mechanic! It's similar to Gerrard's Mom's submission, except Mirrodin-fied. Instead of Soulshift, you have utilised Modular and paired it with a complementary ability that works brilliantly together. While Ashnod's Transmogrant is rather bland by itself, Arcbound Steelworker's ability to transfer its four +1/+1 counters to any other creature is wonderfully awesome in comparison. On the balance side of things, you technically get 8 points of power and toughness for the price of 6 mana, which is usually considered too good. In this case however, it's fair since you don't get access to the second '4/4' until the first one dies. Even better, the flavor is spot on, as I can easily imagine a person grafting a construct's parts onto himself to enhance his capabilities. It's safe to say I love this card!
Loam Keeper3GG
Creature - Elf Druid (U)
Dredge 5
When Loam Keeper is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, you may return target card from your graveyard to your hand.
3/3 The loam decomposes the living to birth the dead.
I'm actually a little surprised that R&D hasn't designed a card that triggers a Regrowth upon hitting the grave. Sure, there's Eternal Witness but that's not really the same. Wait, Loam Keeper's ability means it can grab itself, right? I suppose it's similar to Undead Gladiator if that's the case. There's nothing much I can say about Loam Keeper, except that it ticks all the right boxes. While it does not explore new design space, its combination of abilities is something that could have seen print in Ravnica. I also adore the flavor text. It's generically simple but is nevertheless very effective in expressing the Golgari way of life. Loam Keeper is a well-rounded card that I like.
Squee! The art is cute and the flavor is cute; clearly nobody wants to devour little Nee. Wording's a bit off: I think it should be "beginning next end step", not "next step." Also, while it's cute, I don't think this card earns its mythic rare status.
Jau
Ehh, the dryad could be broken. Dryad + Lightning Bolt = 3 mana accel for a mere RGW. Or, just block a really big creature, then suddenly you've got tons lands coming out of nowhere. That said, it does fit the challenge creativly: I want to beat this poor dryad's head open with the biggest burn spell I can find.
TwilightKiwi
Ehh, the goblins could be broken. It is literally almost impossible to kill them. Turn 2: Sucidals, attack. You block, I get two more. Compare to Spawnwrithe, where you have to swing and hit to get a copy; or to Chronozoa, where you have to wait 3 turns for a copy. Both have easy answers: removal. In comparison, getting rid of the goblins is almost impossible (speaking of which, you forgot a creature type).
SnoopYah
The good news is that's the most creative use of colorless hybrid I've seen in a while. The bad news is that's its incredible broken, a 2/2 for U + no drawbacks + draw when it dies! Or a 3/3 for 2 that let's you draw two cards when it dies! Yikes!
Krey
Converted mana cost = 4. That's not 2 or less. For what it's worth, it's a very nice card, though I fear it's broken. Compare Chronozoa: to get the same effect, you wait three turns. Remember: tokens create copies: t5: you have 2: t6: you have 4: t7: you have 8!
Alabran
Conveted mana cost = 3. That's not 2 or less. Also, I'm not sure if Rise from the Grave should really cost this little. Image dropped a sacrifice outlet t1/t2, this guy t3, and having something huge t4. It's a fine card, it just needs to cost substancially more.
Kiwoli
Unearth, sign me up! The wording needs to remind you to put it under its owner's control, but that's minor. It may have issues with suspend/hideaway/ect, but it seems like a pretty cool card overall.
Top 3
1. Kiwoli - A great Unearth enabler, something I'd love to sac, and it's not broken. Good work, a nice solid card.
2. bearsareawesome - A great Devour enabler, and he's so cute how can I not give him second place?
3. SnoopYah - It's horribly broken, but it could be fixed easily enough. The base idea or colorless hybrid + sunburst is intresting enough to earn 3rd.
Seizo, Death's Stench: Another unwieldy mana cost but it's to be expected I guess for demons. It has a fair drawback and fits the round requirements well while fitting in with the avatar.
Posessed Witch: Not too bad of a card for an uncommon. The mana cost is a bit unwieldly but it fits the avatar well and the odd requirements of this round.
Boggart Bomber: Cool card, I'd say if fits well with the avatar but it can fit in with anything it's such a social butterfly Fits the round requirements well and is fairly costed.
Sigiled Squire: Decent card, fits the round requirement and fits the avatar although it's sacrificed in an odd way.
Dimir Mindsmith: Very nice card, well balanced mana cost. Fits the avatar well and the round requirements.
Budborn Dryad: Not too bad of a card, would have been nice to have it go into your hand rather than on top of your library. Fits your avatar but it'd be nice if you had of included it in your post.
No Entry.
Pursuer of Knowledge: This is a cool card that combos well with the avatar and works great too with it. Works well with the abilities it has at its rarity and fits the requirements.
Seizo, Death's StenchBB
Legendary Creature - Spirit Demon [u]
Fear
Other creatures you control get -1/-1
When Seizo, Death's Stench enters or leaves the battlefield, target player loses life equal to the toughness of target creature you control.
3/1
This card has a lot of tension going on. On one hand it's a 3 power creature with fear (which works well with your Avatar) for BB which is guaranteed to deal at least 2 points to your opponent. On the other it makes the rest of your team smaller. Could be pretty powerful in the right deck. Will most probably be used as a finisher most often. Maybe slightly overpowered for its cost, cost should probably should be increased by 1. Would have liked to see some flavour text on the card, but that's ok. The Johnny in me just screams to build a deck to abuse this card.
Possessed WitchBB
Creature - Human Cleric {U}
When Possessed Witch is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, you may return target exiled card that was haunting it to your hand. Bedtime stories of ghosts using your last breath to return to life have always scared children into behaving. If only that was all they did. 1/1
I like the creativity here. You're doing something that hasn't really been done before. Flavour is abit off for me. Eventhough the flavour text and rules text hint of Ravnica, the overall flavour of the card doesn't gel very well. The name is Possessed Witch, yet the creature type is Cleric. With the exception of Lyzolda, the Blood Witch (which I feel is an oversight on WotC's part), every other witch has been spellshaper, wizard or shaman. I also think it may be a little under powered. You could probably get away with making this a 2/2. Still a nice card overall.
Simple, straight forward card. Well balanced too. My only gripe would be the flavour text. The boggarts of Lorwyn, were constantly in search of new sensations, they probably wouldn't really need to be convinced to try something new
Sigiled Squire
Creature - Human Soldier
If Sigiled Squire is attacking, you may sacrifice it. If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.
1/1 Squires of Knights often never see the knighthood themselves. That however, doesn't mean they are forgotten.
A Arkrasan Squire variant which falls short. While the flavour text and name is very resonant of Bant, the mechanic itself is not very Bant like. The mechanic itself is sort of counter productive to Bant's Exalted mechanic. Exalted wants you to attack with one creature, Sigiled Squire in most cases needs you to attack with at least 2 creatures for any benefit. Also with new M10 combat rules, the ability is not that useful. Removing the condition for the sack would have been better, though still not very Bant-like. You also did not indicate a rarity, though I doubt this card could be anything but a common.
Dimir Mindsmith UB
Shroud
When Dimir Mindsmith enters the battlefield, target player discards a card.
When Dimir Mindsmith leaves the battlefield, target player draws a card. House Dimir’s methods are just as hidden as their members.
1/1
Uncommon
Nice little utility card. The flavour of Ravnica and Dimir comes out very nicely in the card which is always a plus. Well balanced and would be included in many UB decks. I could see this being printed as it is, except for one glaring omission. The card has no type line! Except for that one error, there are no complaints here.
Budborn DryadG
Creature - Dryad C
Forestwalk
Sacrifice Budborn Dryad: Put target Forest card in your graveyard on top of your library. As long as there are dryads in Jukai, forests will not wilt.
Illus: Srithanon Eiamchan
1/1
Nothing much to say here. The ability is al ittle too conditional on a common for my tastes though.
Pursuer of Knowledge UU
Creature - Spirit (U)
Sacrifice ~: Look at the top three cards of target player's library, then put them back in any order.
Soulshift 2 (When this is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, you may return target Spirit card with converted mana cost 2 or less from your graveyard to your hand.)
1/1
Nice package. Well balanced and all the parts are there. Not particularly creative but nothing to complain about either. Well done.
Wow. This was a tough round. Many good entries and all of you deserve a pat on the back. In the end I have to choose 3 so here they are.
1. Maokun
2. _IF_
3. CasualThor
Honorable mentions
Svennihilator - Really liked your card but the absence of a type line cost you a place in the Top 3
person3142 - It was really close between you and CasualThor and _IF_.
Nee, the Indigestible RG
Legendary Creature - Weird (Mythic)
When Nee, the Indigestible is sacrificed, return it to play at the beginning of the next step. The Viashino wonder what god would be so cruel as to send a creature so easy to catch, yet taste so terrible? Certainly, no god of Jund... 0/1
Hmm the creature type choice is a bit... well, weird, seeing how you were required to make a jundian creature. Also, the ability, type and p/t do not really speak of neither Jund or theRG pair to me. Probably a BG fungus would have suited this card best considering its abilities and Jund's flavor? Having said that it seems like an interesting card, though I'd have it return only every next phase, otherwise you'd get over 10 sacrifices of this guy per turn, which no doubt could be exploited in atrocious ways. I'd probably vote for this in a DCC, but not in this round of this contest.
Slave of Extinction1W
Creature - Elemental (R) 1B, Sacrifice Slave of Extinction: Put target exiled creature card onto the battlefield. Those that are gone are merely bidding their time for a triumphant return.
1/1
How is this Alaran? Not only the flavor is ambiguous; the card, having white and black costs, suggest it is from the plane of Esper, thus it should be an artifact, not an elemental. The card is good but the name is a bit misleading. Like BAA's card, it would be a good DCC entry but it fails at the flavor required for this contest.
Eyes of the Darkness2BB
Creature - Spirit (R)
Flying
During your upkeep put in the battlefield a black spirit token that is a copy of this creature.
Whenever Eyes of the Darkness is put into a graveyard from the battlefield target opponent loses 2 life and you gain 2 life.
2/2 "The scared priest looked around and where there were two red eyes in the dark a moment ago, now over a dozen followed him." - Rada, Survivor of the Reito massacre.
Now this one has all the flavor but it fails at the requeriment of the mana cost. Also, why it says "during" instead "at the beginning of"? 0_o And while it's a good card, I do not really want to sacrifice this guy, as per required. I would want it to stay in the battlefield as long as possible.
Suicide SquadBR
Creature - Rogue (R)
Haste
When Suicide Squad is put into your graveyard from anywhere, put two tokens onto the battlefield at the beginning of your next upkeep that are copies of it. The more certain their doom, the more gleefully they rush towards it... and the quicker others follow in their wake.
1/1
Did you intend the tokens to keep multiplying themselves? That would become crazy really quick, so I'll asume you forgot to add a limiter so it wouldn't work on the token copies. I like how it says "from anywhere" fitting Rakdos' fondness for throwing your own hand away.
Conclave Emissary :symg::symw:
Creature - Dryad (R)
Whenever Conclave Emissary is dealt damage, you may search your library for that many basic land cards and put them onto the battlefield tapped. If you do, shuffle your library afterwards. “We are the envoys of Vitu-Ghazi, beseeching the virgin lands to hark our voice.”
2/1
I really like this card, but why would I want to sacrifice her? I guess that you are understanding "sacrifice" as "callously sending her to combat against creatures that will definitely kill her." You hit the flavor of Selesnya right on, anyway.
When Dimir Valor-Warden is put into a graveyard from anywhere, put the top five cards of target player's library into his or her graveyard. Then return a creature from that player's graveyard to the battlefield under your control.
Transmute 2WUB
2/5 Szadek lines Duskmantle with Dimir's more foolish members. Only those that would sacrifice themselves for another.
Why does a Dimir card have white on it? It doesn't really need it for that effect. Also, the effect is really powerful for only three mana, ontop of a really high p/t AND transmute which is always a great bonus. This card is wrongly costed in more than one way. And fails to meet the requeriment of the manacost anyway.
Myr Intelligencer
Artifact Creature — Myr (R)
Sunburst (This comes into play with a +1/+1 counter on it for each color of mana used to pay its cost.)
When Myr Intelligencer leaves play, draw a card for each +1/+1 counter on it. In its last moment, it realized, that this—this very moment—was the most important moment of its life. It smiled, then ceased to exist.
1/1
This is a really clever combination of sunburst and colorless hybrid with a great flavor, but it's way too powerful. You may pay RG, to mention any pair stressing that you dont even need blue, and get a 3/3 that draws 2 cards upon its death? It would warp any format because every single deck would be able to play it.
Bearsareawesome: Well, I hope Gub isn't hoping to get Nee back when he send him through the portal because the Timespiral rifts don't kill things, they exile them. Luckily though, that kind if talk is breaking the wall and thus Gub doesn't know this. RG makes sense. At first I couldn't understand the red part, but then I remembered the sacrificial theme goblins had going for them in Alara, so it works nicely. Mechanically I think the card is fine, thought I think it could be a 1/1. Honestly, how many 1 toughness creatures that you don't intend to be dead or bigger in three turns are actually played in standard? The idea is original in that Wizards hasn't done something like this word for word before, but not very in the sense that every designer and his mother has.
Jau: Me likey. You don't actually want to sacrifice him, but flavorfully, you do want him to be the first to talk to whatever is on the other side. However, seeing as you're trying to reach your own home, I don't think an emissary is needed. Mechanically I really like what you've done. Even if it could be broken, I don't think anyone could make anything usefull out of it that wouldn't take less cards. I am a little disconcerned with the interaction of instant speed pyroclasms and his effect against red decks. Eot Fallout, my turn baneslayer angel + path back-up or something similiar. I'd love to see Earthquake for 5 into banefire for ten. Even with that in mind, the way standard plays, I don't think he'd see play, which doesn't mean it's bad.
TwilightKiwi: Nope. Ridiculous. Busted. Dredge would eat this up in an instant, and I play Legacy dredge. Screw Icorid, this card does the exact same thing, just tons better. It does fit into the flavor of the challenge pretty well, but flavor isn't everything. The card also lacks a creature type. The race/ class system requires it to still have a race of some sort. I would assume Goblin because goblins like dying. I enjoy the flavor of the card, but I don't think I'll be selecting it in my top three because of the absurdity it brings with it in both standard and legacy. I'll ignore the effect it would have on Legacy because Wizards most of the time does or they do a pre-banning.
snoopYah: Am I to understand that this is U for a 2/2? I think you mean't for it to be a 0/0, but typed it up as a 1/1 by accident. In it's intended itteration, I think the card would be fine. However, in it's current stat, you can see how it's off the wall. U for a 2/2 weird cantripper or a watchwolf with a double cantrip. A tad bit insane. The flavor is fine, but won't be nearly enough to save the magic universe from this being overpowered as all hell.
Krey: Chronozoa was in the colour of the best fliers, had to wait three turns and didn't have a leaves play effect. Your card is in the third best color for fliers, does it every turn and makes them lose 2 life each time a copy dies. Your card is what some might call ridiculous. I don't understand thef lavor at all. Why do bad things happen when he leaves, shouldn't they happen when he comes?
Alabran: Powerfull. These are the kind of cards I like to design. Cards with many, many options. Though you may not have known this, but the transmute cost for every card so far has been 3. I presume it was intended as such, but if not that's one hell of a coincidence. The variance in cost is for good reason, but this is the second card in this bracket that would be ridiculous in dredge. Dredge this guy netting five more cards in the graveyard and a reanimated version of him. Once again, I play Dredge in Legacy and know how insane this guy could get. In standard I think it's fine. The transmute cost is probably right on the dot and it's powerfull enough that it might even see standard play. It dies, you mill five and hit another copy and then return that copy to play.Heck, mill your opponent and nab his baneslayer or his broodmate or his demigod etc. On second thought, Maybe up the tranmute cost by 1. You can almost guarentee to put a creaure in the graveyard with the first effect. The flavor fits the challenge aswell. I'll ignore the effect it would have on Legacy because Wizards most of the time does or they do a pre-banning. I'm afraid that your card was supposed to be converted mana cost 2 or less. If not the oops, I would have given you second or even first. Yours was my favorite this round, keep up the good work.
Kiwoli: Something about this card just doesn't feel right. I think that maybe it should have been a 2/2 for 2WG or something similiar. Black has almost no history of getting things back from exile. Green and white have the very small monopoly on that as of yet and for good reason. It just feels much better coming from them. I guess the card is fine mechanically, but it doesn't feel like it accomplishes anything. It's new, so I'll give you props for that. A reanimatrion card that deals with the exile zone. I definitely feel four mana is right for that, so good job. Flavorfully, you could take it two ways. 1. This guy is going through and fetching someone from wherever the rift leads and is bringing hi to you. 2. This guy is fetching back whoever you sent through in the first place. Either way, it fits the challenge.
Adrian, Collector of Fallen Debt :2mana::symw::symb:
Legendary Creature - Human Cleric
Other creatures you control have haunt.
Whenever a haunted creature leaves the battlefield, choose one — Return target face up exiled card you own to your hand and discard a card; or put target creature card in your graveyard onto the battlefield. Death does not free one from debt to the Orzhov.
2/2
Possessed WitchBB
Creature - Human Cleric {U}
When Possessed Witch is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, you may return target exiled card that was haunting it to your hand. Bedtime stories of ghosts using your last breath to return to life have always scared children into behaving. If only that was all they did. 1/1
Very nice. I'm a sucker for playing with haunt this way; I think it's the logical next step and it's too bad they got disenchanted with the mechanic after not having time to explore it. The execution is fine--it would need a heavy haunt theme to be balanced, but that's a reasonable assumption to make.
Undine, Disciple of Circu :symu::symb:
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard
Shroud
If Undine, Disciple of Circu would deal or be dealt damage, each player puts that many cards from the top of his or her library into his or her graveyard instead.
2/2
Dimir Mindsmith UB
Shroud
When Dimir Mindsmith enters the battlefield, target player discards a card.
When Dimir Mindsmith leaves the battlefield, target player draws a card. House Dimir’s methods are just as hidden as their members.
1/1
Uncommon
-1 point for the missing typeline
-1 point for the way your flavortext made me realize I have a dirty mind
+2 points because I don't actually use points
The card seems solid. I could see it printed. It doesn't seem particularly original, and I think shroud really subtracts from it by removing potential interactions. It's not like under normal circumstances either player would want to Bolt it.
Hey guys, sorry for my absence. I had no acces to internet and was full busy with the Nationals.

Yeah, a clunky flavor text for a clunky card. I just love the art.
It's interesting, I just can't figure out the deck that would ever want to play this. I'd've liked it as a 2/2 for 2.
3/5
Should be "Sacrifice ~: Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature. Activate this ability only when ~ is attacking." And while I'm on my templating soapbox, your avatar should say "until end of turn," not "beginning of the end step." It's only "at end of turn" that got changed.
My objection to the actual card is that it's better when you have multiple attackers, which is not very Banty, Sigily, or Rhoxy.
Gikodin, the Still of Heart :3mana::symu::symu:

Sacrifice ~: Look at the top three cards of target player's library, then put them back in any order.
Soulshift 2 (When this is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, you may return target Spirit card with converted mana cost 2 or less from your graveyard to your hand.)
1/1
Breaking the rules of soulshift! I actually don't think I've ever seen this done; it's clever. This makes for a fairly strong control card: block, sac, recast the next turn. It's all but unstoppable, too.
Seizo, Death's StenchBB
Legendary Creature - Spirit Demon [u]
Fear
Other creatures you control get -1/-1
When Seizo, Death's Stench enters or leaves the battlefield, target player loses life equal to the toughness of target creature you control.

Just a friendly reminder that in kamigawa uncommon legendary creatures were normal
The uncommon legendary Spirit Demon was indeed a common sight in Kamigawa. However, uncommons still aren't supposed to be this complicated or this powerful, and no Demon with power less than 4 has ever been printed (ish).
Vela of Vela Ves :3mana::symw:
Creature - Shapeshifter

I really like this card paired with your vignette--it's unusual to see Kinship making a (dark) flavorful sense. The card makes sense in common as awkward Limited removal. Elegantly done.
MagicProfessor28: Good uncommon, nice abilities that reflect the Golgari’s ideals. This is really something I want to sac again, and again and again. Nice flavor text.
void_nothing: Too bad there is not a rarity here. Seems too complex for common and uncommon. The sacrifice part makes sense if you mean sacrifice it by chump blocking with it, otherwise it would not generate an effect.
Gerrard's Mom: Nice uncommon. The ability is very interesting, nice way to word the ability so it can play as search your library for a 5 or less cmc spirit card.
seratonin: Interesting card. It seems limited in what it does. If I get to deal 3 or more damage to one creature, sac this guy to exile the damaged creature it is not efficient. If I manage to deal damage to every creature it will be worth it but then this guy would bite it too. Would have liked to see flavor text here.
Saire: Nice uncommon. Nice way to use Transmute and to incorporate the mechanic as a leaves the battlefield effect. The only thing that determines how good this one is, is the 5 cmc cards in your deck.
Jimmy Groove: Nice card. Very interesting ability, Modular was not expanded as other mechanics were, good to see it put to something good here. Nice flavor text.
Manascrew: Interesting. For an uncommon the ability ability does not seem so great. A 3/3 for 5 mana does not seem so great. The only thing that it may justify its cost would be the Dredge 5. This card seems to be the ones that are meant to be discarded and dredged rather than played.
Top Three:
One: MagicProfessor28 Two: Jimmy Groove Three: Gerrard’s Mom
Nee, the Indigestible :symr::symg:
Interesting Design, though the flavor of returning it to play seems off of the flavor of sacrificing it.
Conclave Emissary :symg::symw:
2/1
Good card to fit the contest this week. Shivian Meteor loves this card, i would think combat damage would balance it a bit more.
Suicide Squad :symb::symr:
Good design that fits the challenge well. Seems a TAD powerful, as it could get out of control quickly.
1/1
Myr Intelligencer
Artifact Creature — Myr (R)
Sunburst (This comes into play with a +1/+1 counter on it for each color of mana used to pay its cost.)
When Myr Intelligencer leaves play, draw a card for each +1/+1 counter on it. In its last moment, it realized, that this—this very moment—was the most important moment of its life. It smiled, then ceased to exist.
1/1
Good flavor card for the challenge. Good playable card as well, though a 2/2 with a relevant ability as a 1 drop seems too good. A 0/0 would be more balanced imo.
Eyes of the Darkness :2mana::symb::symb:
This does not fit the required challenge. I'd also never sacrifice it.
When Dimir Valor-Warden is put into a graveyard from anywhere, put the top five cards of target player's library into his or her graveyard. Then return a creature from that player's graveyard to the battlefield under your control.
Transmute :2mana::symw::symu::symb:
2/5 Szadek lines Duskmantle with Dimir's more foolish members. Only those that would sacrifice themselves for another.
Unfortunatly does not fit the challenge requirement. A decently balanced card otherwise, tough to kill in the battlefield, but a powerful effect if you do.
Slave of Extinction :1mana::symw:
Creature - Elemental (R)
:1mana::symb:, Sacrifice Slave of Extinction: Put target exiled creature card onto the battlefield. Those that are gone are merely bidding their time for a triumphant return.
1/1
Good use of the theme for this week. Flavor per your avatar is off, considering the cost it should be an artifact; or return one.
No critique makes me sic my Golgari zombies on you!
Marisi’s Hunting Party is a useful card that seems to be a combination of Slith Firewalker and Nacatl War-Pride. The mana cost is interesting in that you added the white mana symbol, yet the card itself has almost no ties to the white ideology of the color pie. It seemed like you were just adding the color to fit more to the Nayan shard. I personally would have costed it somewhere around 3RG or even 3GG. I like the mechanics behind the card and I think that it flows together quite nicely, however I also feel like the card The card, although it fits with the theme of the contest, I fail to understand the flavor behind this card. It seems to me that flavorfully, why would a one of a kind (Legendary) pride be sent on a potentially suicidal mission? Overall good job! B
Crackling Kudzu seems like an interesting utility card to go along with the sacrifice effects such as Nantuko Husk. The card seems good, however the wording seems to be off. I don’t think that the mechanics quite flow with the Gruul of Ravnica. I like the flavor text a lot and I think that you did a great job designing a creature that you would want to sacrifice albeit with another ability. Nice job, but due to the mechanic’s lack of interaction with the Gruul, you earned an A-!
Very interesting card that poses a unique card concept never seen before. For that I congratulate you on your innovative skills! I like the mechanic and how well it fits into designing a creature that would be sacrificed. My only concern with the card is that with a Nantuko Husk and Epic Struggle, you can win very easily. For this reason, the card seems quite broken in that you can easily win before the beginning of your next upkeep. The flavor text is amazing and I really like the link to your avatar. For the sheer power of your card, I am forced to give it a B+, but it would have scored higher if the card could have only multiplied if it died in combat.
Split cards are quite a lot of fun and this card is no exception. Possessed Ogre is a good card that goes quite well with the theme of Ogres in Kamigawa. In terms of power, the first side seems quite weak unless you run a lot of sacrifice outlets. The other side, however is quite powerful and especially broken with cards like Kokusho, the Evening Star I don’t quite understand the flavor behind an Ogre getting possessed after jumping through a rift and turning into a demon, but that is a minor factor. The card overall doesn’t really scream “wow” to me and so I award you a B-
Graveborn Angel is a cool card, but it seems quite underpowered actually compared to one of my favorite cards Kokusho, the Evening Star. The only perk having exalted. I dislike the flavor of the card because it seems like a mush of Bant and Grixis, while the flavor text seems like a play on an old expression. This seemed more like an Unhinged type flavor text, and I would have liked to seen better. The card itself seemed cool and it fit with the theme of sacrificing creatures. Overall, I know you can do better :). C
Doing things at random isn't really an Izzet mechanic. Their mechanics are coin flipping and Replicate. I appreciate the feel of having something happen at random in the guild, but it's more about big gains for cheap at a risk than just deciding an outcome. All things considered this guy feels more like an uncommon to me than a rare. I feel like this guy still needs a lot of tweeking.
Harbinger_
I like cats a whole lot. That said, for 5 mana in the 3 main agro colors I expect more than a 3/3. I like the ability and I like the flavor, but I think that this needed to be a 0/0 that enters the battlefield with 3 +1/+1 counters instead. That way you get immediate benefit if they bolt it.
GetItWrong
The ability makes it feel like it should be a 2/2 for BR. I like the ability a lot, but it really feels like it's on the wrong card. Gruul doesn't really like sacrificing things for other things. 5 mana in two colors for something with low P/T and a non-color relevant ability seems a little weak at rare.
KoolKoal
This guy is hilarious! I feel like he should really have another point of power, and I could see him balanced as a 2/3 or a 2/2. I realize that he's ment for blocking and not attacking, but without Reach he seems a little silly as a 5 mana blocker. He would be great at putting on the pressure with another point of power and some sac outlets though! This card appeals to me a lot.
Concallesco
Your guy doesn't fit with your avatar, and the flip having trample makes him absurdly powerful. This card is just too easy to break and doesn't have enough of a drawback for his benefits. I feel like he should eat things instead of having a reanimation benefit as an 8/8 demon with trample for 6 mana.
d@rkelf
I happen to be a big fan of Angels and things with synergy. I don't understand why it has Exalted AND Unearth though, that sort of breaks flavor boundaries. Also, she's sort of explosive when she hits play if you have some tokens and a sac outlet. At 6 mana she should probably drain 1 life instead of 2. Being able to sac a Faerie Rogue for a 4 life exchange is pretty brutal, especially if it's fueling some form of Nantuko Husk that attacks for more. That's a 6 life exchange for each token. Spectral Procession becomes an 18 life exchange when it hits play. This either need to be toned down or cost a couple more mana. I like the idea a lot though.
The both is potentially is troubling. Firstly, it is too powerful. Drawing 3 cards and 4 damage are good enough on their own. Secondly, players may not always have access to something that can randomly decide between three potential outcomes.
A good card. I don't like that it has not benefit for initially being sacrificed.
Seems very narrow, as not all effects that require a sacrifice are activated. Still an original concept.
I don't think it necessarily needed the drawback, making it a 1/1 would have been sufficient.
Very simple and effective card. It's second ability probably shouldn't affect lands.
This could have just been mono black. Not terribly exciting.
void_nothing: it has a cool revenge ability, but I don't understand how it fits the "sacrifice" motif. also, since it has first strike, it's not as likely it will be dealt damage to trigger the leaves play ability. it feels like putting regeneration and first strike together. The name "martyrs" also doesn't seem to fit either. the leaves play ability is a cool one, but first strike seems to muddle it.
MagicProfessor28: 6 power for 6 mana at uncommon seems a little high, especially as an uncommon. It does have a "drawback," but in a dredge deck, that isn't much of a drawback at all. might need a little bit of tweaking with power/ toughness, but otherwise it looks awesome. (As a minor tweak, it should be "zombie worm" rather than the other way around.)
saire: Its a nice twist on the Transfigure mechanic. if you need that specific card, you can find a way to sacrifice it for the tutor ability.
gerrad's mom: clever mix of soulshift and tutor. the card dies all right, but i don't really catch the flavor of wanting to sacrifice a creature with 6 power to get... another creature? mechanically, it's a supurbly designed card, it just seems to lack the "creature you'd want to sacrifice." compare to "promised kannushi" -which is a creature i'd love to sacrifice, because you get something far better.
seratonin: at first, i was like, "this is a cool card," but then realized mechanically, ternion of jailer's combat damage and activated ability don't work very well. with pre-m10 rules, the only way its ability would work is if Terninon blocks or is blocked by a creature that's something like a 1/5 or 2/4, in which both creautres survive combat damage. with pre-m10 rules, it would have to be worded like "until the end of turn, if a creature would be dealt 3 more more damage this turn, exile it." with post m10 rules, it wouldn't work. i do really like the name!
manascrew: a leaves-play-eternal witness. the card should say "return another target card from your graveyard to your hand," otherwise it can just return itself. a 3/3 creature that can return itself esentially for free is far too good at uncommon. if the word "another" was added, and the dredge count lowerd to 2 or 3, i think this card would be balanced and awesome.
jimmy groove: ashrod's transmorgant plus modular - awesome. modular is a powerful ability,, which was checked by only hitting artifact creautres. at the uncommon level, i'd think it would be a little more balanced it it has modular 3. It is essentially giving you 8 power, for 6 mana - which seems just slightly too much. the name "steelworker" doesn't connect with the flavor. maybe something like "archbound transmorgant" would connect the flavor better.

That is some great art you found there - it almost looks like the wurm is bursting from a rift. Microtext doesn't look so good, but the additional flavor makes up for it.
Well done!
2nd: Gerrard's Mom
3rd: Saire

Simple, straight forward card. Well balanced too. My only gripe would be the flavour text. The boggarts of Lorwyn, were constantly in search of new sensations, they probably wouldn't really need to be convinced to try something new
A Arkrasan Squire variant which falls short.
Nice little utility card. The flavour of Ravnica and Dimir comes out very nicely in the card which is always a plus. Well balanced and would be included in many UB decks. I could see this being printed as it is, except for one glaring omission. The card has no type line! Except for that one error, there are no complaints here.
Nothing much to say here. The ability is al ittle too conditional on a common for my tastes though.
No show
Nice package. Well balanced and all the parts are there. Not particularly creative but nothing to complain about either. Well done.
Wow. This was a tough round. Many good entries and all of you deserve a pat on the back. In the end I have to choose 3 so here they are.

Honorable mentions
Svennihilator - Really liked your card but the absence of a type line cost you a place in the Top 3
person3142 - It was really close between you and CasualThor and _IF_.
Now this one has all the flavor but it fails at the requeriment of the mana cost. Also, why it says "during" instead "at the beginning of"? 0_o And while it's a good card, I do not really want to sacrifice this guy, as per required. I would want it to stay in the battlefield as long as possible.
Did you intend the tokens to keep multiplying themselves? That would become crazy really quick, so I'll asume you forgot to add a limiter so it wouldn't work on the token copies. I like how it says "from anywhere" fitting Rakdos' fondness for throwing your own hand away.
I really like this card, but why would I want to sacrifice her? I guess that you are understanding "sacrifice" as "callously sending her to combat against creatures that will definitely kill her." You hit the flavor of Selesnya right on, anyway.

Very nice. I'm a sucker for playing with haunt this way; I think it's the logical next step and it's too bad they got disenchanted with the mechanic after not having time to explore it. The execution is fine--it would need a heavy haunt theme to be balanced, but that's a reasonable assumption to make.
It's interesting, I just can't figure out the deck that would ever want to play this. I'd've liked it as a 2/2 for 2.
Breaking the rules of soulshift! I actually don't think I've ever seen this done; it's clever. This makes for a fairly strong control card: block, sac, recast the next turn. It's all but unstoppable, too.
The uncommon legendary Spirit Demon was indeed a common sight in Kamigawa. However, uncommons still aren't supposed to be this complicated or this powerful, and no Demon with power less than 4 has ever been printed (ish).
I really like this card paired with your vignette--it's unusual to see Kinship making a (dark) flavorful sense. The card makes sense in common as awkward Limited removal. Elegantly done.

Make a card called Long For This World.

0/1
Interesting Design, though the flavor of returning it to play seems off of the flavor of sacrificing it.

Creature - Spirit (R)
Flying
During your upkeep put in the battlefield a black spirit token that is a copy of this creature.
Whenever Eyes of the Darkness is put into a graveyard from the battlefield target opponent loses 2 life and you gain 2 life.

"The scared priest looked around and where there were two red eyes in the dark a moment ago, now over a dozen followed him." - Rada, Survivor of the Reito massacre.
Creature - Spirit Soldier [r]
When Dimir Valor-Warden is put into a graveyard from anywhere, put the top five cards of target player's library into his or her graveyard. Then return a creature from that player's graveyard to the battlefield under your control.
Transmute :2mana::symw::symu::symb:
