Wow, this incredibbly pisses me off. I have a playset of wrath of gods ($8-$10 cards) that I'm not going to be able to play, but If I want to play a white based control deck I'm going to have to spend $15 to play a water-down version of a card I already own?

Hey, if they wanted a regeneratable ***, this was their only option other than stating "oh by the way *** now has errata that says you can regenerate" and quite frankly I doubt that'd go over well.
My suggestion is to play red for the next standard, red is never very expensive.
Many of you have had much success with the Magic Full Box Promotion for Magic 2010 (where we provided you free promo cards to give to any customer who ordered a full display box of the new Magic set at your store.) You’re no doubt eagerly anticipating the upcoming Full Box Promotion for Zendikar as well. We’re so excited about it, in fact, that we just can’t wait to share with you the promo card you’ll be getting, so please find attached to this email: the card image for ”Day of Judgment” - the perfect tool for all your creature-destroying needs.
The promotion is available for stores registered by Tournament Organizers of Core level and above, and of course, you can’t get the cards unless yourstore’s TO signs up for the promotion by the deadline of 9/13. The sign-up option is available now under “Wizards Play Materials” at the WPN site, so don’t delay!

I have a playset of Lorwyn-Eventide that will be unplayable on the same day and I am significantly more sad about that. This stuff happens all the time, so I can't see how anyone would be upset.
Above me there... that art doesn't make sense. That looks like Armageddon, not Wrath.
Seriously, you guys think this is fake? After terror losing it's "can't regenerate" clause? This was bound to happen. I'm sad that they're reprinting Wrath, albeit a slightly worse wrath, but a wrath nonetheless. Here's hoping they reprint Wrap in Vigor.

Honestly I couldn't agree with you more. As I player I feel kind of insulted that they would do this.

Yup its the 2009 WotC CCTPI (Cash Cow the Players Initiative)
It makes perfect sense - removes the "God" thing some people had trouble with in relation to the game's flavor, and balances the power of *** by deleting the non-regenerating clause while bringing it in at the same cost. I can't say "strictly better," because if you construct a deck with many regenerators it could actually be beneficial for you, but in general it makes Regen a better ability, which is great. Won't see play beyond Standard since by the reckoning of most *** is definitely better, but it will shut down the Aggro-spree better than present options. Look for the experimental Planar Cleansing to be gone from M11 and for this to take its place from then on in the Core. And it does what MaRo finally always wanted - a decent mass destruction spell in an expansion Block. Perfect.

Wow, that artwork is awesome. It's incredibly old-school, and reminds me of artwork from the early days of Magic. Simple. Evocative. Effective. Just wonderful.
I am excited to see Wrath back, and I know I, for one, will be picking up my four copies of Day of Judgment as soon as possible!
Removing regeneration is fine, and allows beatdown decks without normal sources of reach (burn) to fit in answers to what was typically an unanswerable card.

Yeah, that's pretty much how Standard works. "What do you mean I have to buy Rootbound Crags, I already own 4 Taigas!"
Yeah, the people outraged at having to buy new Wraths for the first time since 1993 should really cool down.
Also, I hope they print a bunch of good regenerateable creatures to make the downside worth exploiting. Also, that art is pretty and I want four of this. Damn my lack of disposable income.
Wow, F*** you too Wizards, way to make functional reprints of money cards that have been around for ages.
R&D: What can we do to make more sales on Zen?
MaRo: Lets cycle Wrath of God out because everyone already has their sets of it. Then we can make a Slightly weaker version in a following set so that people will have to buy more Zen packs to stay competitive.... On a side note, have I mentioned how much I like crack?

Seconded across the board. The artwork for Day of Judgement just blows Wrath's out the door, I have to say.
Exciting news indeed. I need 5 (Go go EDH!)

I don't have any hard numbers on this, but I'm targeted more often than a black guy driving a beat-up sedan with a broken tail-light and no license plate, and Cy's well aware of that.
Seems fine. I've never owned a wrath before though *gasp* so it doesn't peeve me like others who have their playsets. Anyways, *** is still playable in other formats.

Quote from Fry, from Futurama »
It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for the winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came and the grasshopper died and the octopus ate all his acorns. And also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?

It would have been perfectly feasible to just reprint Wrath in Zendikar.
Instead, we get a downgrade of Wrath by removing the no regen clause.
This is a major spit in the face to Wrath, considering Wrath of God is probably one of the most balanced cards in the game.
Sorin, you cheeky bastard.

The removal of the regeneration clause seems to insinuate that Wizards wants to push creatures harder.
