And that is why I just use the Testing Ground to post my images here. If you can access this site, you can access my images. The trick is to be logged in.
And thank you everyone for the praise on the Library. It was the most expensive card I have ever worked on and even worse;it was beat to hell when I got it. So it was as much an alter as a restoration. I literally had to wash it with a rag and water before the paint would stick. Hopefully I'll have a ton of cards to post over the next 6 weeks!
Hey Surf, I love your work. You're pretty careful to match the values in the actual Magic card, so it looks like it was painted by the same person. Your extrapolated arts are really well planned too.
Thanks; I am far from the best at color matching, but I'm glad to hear that the extended arts look good. I tend to create a digital version of them first, or at least sketch them on the card with pencil (except for 'walkers, as there I have references), so it's nice to know that it pays off.
I started these Dark Rituals a couple of months ago, shortly after I had begun altering magic cards. Then I realised that I had no idea of colour mixing and that my idea involved much more details than I was confident enough to deal with, that's why I decided to postpone this project. I restarted working on them a couple of days ago and think the outcome is nice enough to share it.
Is it just me or am I not the only one that doesn't get the sharpie covers?
It's for those of us less artistically talented. Right now they're not too skill intensive but as I get better I'll be extending art over the borders, into the text box, etc. It also eliminates the issue of color matching.
Now that I think about it, I may try multiple colors of sharpie and fully extend a piece.
Started this a few weeks ago, before I saw the other 3d cancel posted earlier but mines a life counter anyway. My first 3d card and life counter, ALL IN ONE! Let me know what you think!
Black stuff at the bottom is just excess spray adhesive, since picture taken it has been rubbed off
What do 3d life counters usually sell for around shops you play at? PM me or post on here. Just wondering a general range in case people make me offers. I'm thinking $25 would be nice because I had to buy all materials, at least a few hours labor AND that would cover my PTQ next week

So much time, energy, love, and money for.. cardboard. It's a love-hate relationship.
Kyrian- The life counters I made are between 15 and 17 cards thick or there abouts (add a bit of thickness for glue and clear coat) I do put a double thick clear coat on them wich not only seems to make them quite sturdy but really makes the different layers 'pop' a bit more when viewed IRL. As for how I clearcoat them without sticking up the beads that is easy I just use a small piece of off cut card to cover over the textbox area where the beads are and spray away but remember you must let the spray dry before trying to move it or it will run down into your beads. The 1 thing I would really like to improve about the counters Ive been making is to find a stiffer, straighter pole for the beads as the wire I have been using is very hard to get perfectly straight any suggestions for this would be greatly appericated.
Is it just me or am I not the only one that doesn't get the sharpie covers?
I've done about 60 lands that way (foil + blacked-out borders) for a cycle of 5 monocolor decks. They're hawt. If you hunt back about (lol) 600 pages or so, you'll see some of them.
I don't like the 'masked' ones though. I agree with you there. It'd be funnier on cards that exile creatures. *poof* where'd the guy go?
I made a few cards to get them signed at worlds in rome.
Well those did turn out rather well.. I still can't quite wrap my brain around how you manage to paint on foils like that. These really stand out as something unique.
Attention everyone doing life counters, do them like THAT.
Small beads, small rods, the only way they look good.
No offense to all who've been posting life counters recently, but this really is 100% correct. You need 10 beads on each rod or they look kinda 'bobo'.
@bleedingteddy Hmm.. I debated clear coating mine. I still can and still might, i love the way it makes a cards surface look. The wire I bought comes in a roll and it was difficult to make it strait. I'll be on the lookout for good wire and if anybody knows of a good place to get some i'd love to know!

I have no idea what that thing on the right is supposed to be.
Garruk Wildspeaker
As usual, the skin tones suck. They're slightly better in person, but still not great.
Snow-Covered Forest
I saw a thread mention Mouth of Ronom, and I love that card despite never having used it, so now it's in the Kamahl deck.
