there seem to be 3 basic similarities between the URG -lings, besides the obvious +/- effects.
first, morph, torch, thorn all have the "-or" slant rhyme. (i think this is the coolest one, which people never bother following)
second, they have a clever way to avoid dying to spot removal.
third, they have some way to influence combat in their favor.
thornling broke the untap pattern, so i think we're free to use it however else we want.

And the Grixisling is probably the toughest one. I have no idea how to fit graveyard/unearth in there... but there's my two cents. But just so everyone knows there was all ready a White/Blue morphling in case everyone forgot...
In an eight player game, is anything good? Don't you just sit there countering combos until someone genesis waves for 42 after all the blue players tap out fighting over a bribery?
Wither is the big player here. Ability to power up the amount of wither damage is effective, as well as being able to regenerate him from the drop to 1 toughness. Untapping is always good, being able to push the wither offensive and being able to untap and give some good ol blocking wither.

Alright. I wasn't planning on entering this one, but after you extended it an extra week, I thought a little more, and actually came up with what I hope is an original idea.
I really wanted to stay as true as possible to what Wizards might do, and followed a few rules that I'd noticed they did.
1) Creature names should not only end in "ling", but should roughly rhyme with Morph. Morph, Torch, Thorn . . there's an or in there. It's important
2) Creatures should have an untap ability unless there's a reason for them not to. There was an article where they specifically said they tried to fit Untap on Thornling, and it ruined the balance. Don't force it where it isn't wanted
3) Creatures should not share abilities other than untap and +1/-1.

{B}: Corpseling gains lifelink until end of turn
{B}: Corpseling gains intimidate until end of turn
{1}: Corpseling gets +1/-1 until end of turn
{1}: Corpseling gets -1/+1 until end of turn
I really wanted Deathtouch to be an ability that Corpseling had, and I had the same problems with untap and deathtouch that Wizards had with Thornling and indestructibility. Intimidate seemed like an auto include, and I settled on Lifelink after looking back over cards like Vampire Nighthawk. It was a hard choice not giving Lifelink to Wardling, but I think the balance on this is pretty good.
I really wanted the art to have the two creatures side by side like the original, but had to settle on two corpsy looking people even though they weren't facing eachother.

Wardling almost become Stormling, to keep up with the "or" in the name, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Wardling is such a much better name, and it matches the rhyming scheme, just not visually.
Flying seemed obvious here, and I almost left out protection because of it's wordiness, but if you look at the original Morphling, the shroud ability is pretty wordy and they left it in. I can envision a few problems with protection+untap, but not too many. It's not like deathtouch or indestructibility.

{2}: Regenerate Orbling
{3}: Put a +1/+1 counter on Orbling

{1}: Orbling gets -1/+1 until end of turn
Turns out there really aren't that many definitively "artifact creature" abilities in magic. The +1/+1 counter ability shows up all over the place, and Untap is perfect (See Brass Man). Regenerate shows up several times, and seemed like the best fit. Maybe I should've casted him a little higher (7 or 8), but I imagine he'd be fun to play with here.
Quote from Lordling »
Lordling (2{2/W}{2/U}{2/B}{2/R}{2/G})

{2/U}: Target Shapeshifter gains shroud until end of turn

{2/B}: Target Shapeshifter gains deathtouch until end of turn
{1}: Target Shapeshifter gets +1/-1 until end of turn
{1}: Target Shapeshifter gets -1/+1 until end of turn
Lordling was my real "aha" moment. I wanted to create a Reaper King esque morphling lord. Because Morphlings dont have a creature type, he turned into a Shapeshifter lord, but that seems like an ok thing to me. Don't forget, he can target himself with any of these abilities. I'm worried that being castable at 7 might be a little low, and maybe should've put him at 8, but I figure you wont cast him until 8 anyway so you can protect him with shroud or indestructibility.
I gave him provoke over Torchling's actual ability (which would've read "Target creature blocks target Shapeshifter this turn if able) almost entirely based on wordiness. Provoke is obviously a better ability, but I think that's ok.
Shimmerling ww3
Creature – Shapeshifter

I'm worried that being castable at 7 might be a little low, and maybe should've put him at 8, but I figure you wont cast him until 8 anyway so you can protect him with shroud or indestructibility.
I gave him provoke over Torchling's actual ability (which would've read "Target creature blocks target Shapeshifter this turn if able) almost entirely based on wordiness. Provoke is obviously a better ability, but I think that's ok.
