OK It's time for ARD Card of the Week. It's Sunday and we might as well start with this right away. I guess it's easiest to know who's next in line if we just go down the member's list. Council Members in order are
Blue
Qwerty
The Revenant
Utter Madness
So since we are already talking about Chalice technology I suggest we start there.
Well for one chalice gives other colors a control counterspell type of aspect which is pretty cool. It can also go into any deck as long as the deck does not run a lot of 1 or 2 casting cost spells because usually chalice tries to stop all of the cards that cost 0 to 2 mostly but can do the 3 cc cards sometimes as well.
Utter: We're just discussing it. Make a deck if you want heh but you're right it's narrow for a reason
Kevin: Yeah I've noticed that some decks set chalice to 0-2 counters. That seems to be fine. I mean on turn 1 you spend 0 and set it to 0. Turn 1 you spend 2 and set it to 1. Turn 2 you spend 4 and set it to 2, or 1 or 0. It's pretty effective in shutting of the early game of any opponent. The problem is that once the early game is over with what do you do? Is it possible to make a deck that seeks to live off of 3 drops and higher?
And you can't say that Chalice is NOT a Johnny Rogue card. You can tutor for it with Trinket Mage, bring it back with Auriok Salvagers or Leonin Squire, and you can modify how many counters you set it to with Power Conduit and Coretapper and Energy Chamber. Surely there is some deck that can utilize Chalice of the void so that it can protect a combo that loses to Card X with converted mana cost of X.

Well maybe all of us can work on making a rogue deck with chalice of the void together. Not sure though.
Chalice of the void is a very interesting card...although im not sure if it is really in the spirit of this benevolent and glorious clan...chalice can be used sb against extended decks like white weenie (set one to 1, one to 2 and Bob is your uncle), U/G madness naming about 3 and it will be nasty and even Goblins on the same principle...also it has cool art

Yes agreed it is also good against burn as well.:)
Chalice is pure quick beats stoppage as mentioned above. However it really doesn't do much against slower decks non-blue (since those typically have more spread out mana costs). Blue decks it typically doesn't do much with either tho. Mainly because they tend to run enough counters to deal with it before it can be a problem... or in theory at least.
In other news, on Friday night one of the mother of one of my friends died. She was only 44. Bad stuff... last night I stayed with him till 3:30 in the morn talkin with him and another person I know. Stuff like this really makes ya wonder what's gonna happen in life sometimes. Especially since this friend already lost his father only a year and a half ago, which makes him the oldest living kin (he's 22). Now he's gotta take care of everything including a 16 (almost 17-) year old sister.... ugh. This has not been a good 24 hours for anyone involved... But I mention this because if it seems that tourney organizing is going a bit slow this would be the reason it is. However its good to know the new poll isn't up yet... sorta.
its old t2 mirroden.
basically you respond to one of your opponents spells by adding charge counters or removing charge counters. and you win with a stalking stones. (maybe i need a better win condition.....)
I also only see chalice in t1 play. I dont think 1.5 landstill and others has enough room for chalice.
Well....Im back...
I went to Guatemala for the weekend....it was kool...partied until late from Saturday to Sunday, met a few new Girls....wnet with breakfast withthem the next morning, and came back to my country (the whole 235 KM) under the heaviest rain you can imagine....driving with almost zero visibility, late at night, with some fog added to the scenery and almost no cards around!! Talk about thrills and chills huh???
Anyhow...can someome please give me a quick rundown on what happened over the weekend??
No, it wouldn-t work, because the effect is triggered when the spell is played...not when it´s ressolved....and PLAYING the spell itself does not got to the stack....so the trigger would be on the previous ammonunt of Counters....
I hope that sounded educated enough!! LOL....
Anyhow...did we finally get Seraph´s Third vote on for becoming member???
Qwerty can you remove all of the options on that poll except for Standard and Legacy. This time only vote if you are participating in the tournament AND only vote once.
People wishing to participate are as follows and as such are the only ones allowed to vote on this poll:
Hey hey updated front page to add Silver since that's official now. One semi-unrelated question: I must've missed Master of Darkness joining in the month or so that I wasn't around. Is he a friend or a member?
Also, since our bios are still front page material I'd appreciate it if Casi, Silver, frozen, and Master fill out theirs. All we really want is your age, name (first, last, nick, any), what ya look like, and what your non-MTG interests are.
Tourney-wise, personally I'm gonna wait to throw the die in the matchup until we've determined what format we're playing... Somehow it doesn't feel right to make matchups when we don't know most of the basics... Which reminds me... since it seems no one is on router but me this makes things a lot easier. The last part is the afformentioned format decision and now we need everyone's IM names so everyone can get in contact for games. Also, I don't think it would hurt if each of us gave a time (with zone) that would be most convenient for each of us... probably one for weekdays one for weekends.
Lastly, clan contest 4 needs a start for ideas. Remember we're just making an MTGS logo not a clan logo for this (altho the logo has to be reflective of the clan still...).

That is all...
Oops bio... hrm... I'll do that too.
MTGS Name: Blue
Why?: Erm... I hadn't really thought about it. I think the name I wanted was taken so I chose something simple. It's my favorite color for eyes. (In general. However, the person behind the eyes can sway me)
Real Name: Micah!!! (exclamation points are obligatory! one will suffice but 2 or more are preferred ;))
What I look like: I'm 6'5" with frameless glasses. And yes what you heard is true, I ooze sexiness.
Where I live: Texas, DFW Area. Specifically Plano right now.
What I like to do: It's the same stuff anyone else does. I like to hang out and talk with friends. I like watching movies. I love playing Hacky Sack but don't do it often anymore. I love cooking and I like writing and coming up with ideas for comic book characters. I doodle (since I can't call it drawing anymore. Drawing requires consistency ;)) I also love to laugh. I find it very hard to be around someone that doesn't have a good sense of humor.
Magic Wise: I'm a Johnny by nature. Cards like Doubling Season scream "Play Me! I'm good with Spawning Pit, Pentavus, and Ketchup!" I can't help it. Lately I've been able to curb my overt enthusiasm for the silly Johnny card by combining it with logical testing before face-planting into yet another bad deck idea. I guess what I dislike the most is the same as anyone else. I don't like facing an opponent that read his deck off of the internet. There's no emotion behind the deck. That's what makes rogue decks good. The humanity behind the deck, the hours of poring over the deck to make it work just right seem all too worth it when you smash someone's face with Phage the Untouchable. Their screams of frustration that Affinity should beat Jank just makes me think to myslef that Jank has heart and things like Affinity are cold as stone. It's not that the decks that others build aren't good. It's just that I had no part in helping develop it. It wasn't my idea. Maybe that's selfish, but one of the best parts of playing magic is that you get to be creative. Creativity should not be stifled by tiers and ptqs. Some day I'll just move to Japan cuz apparently they are the only people getting credit for their rogue quality.
And on that topic it'd be funny if we had a picture of Rogue from X-Men as our mascot. Well I mean besides the fact that she's super bad ass, she's got the right name for the job
Non-Magic interests: Video game obsessive (if you like the Metal Gear Solid series we can be freinds), skateboarding, and being an idiot in public places.:teach:
screen names: frozen_yak (its the name of my fledgling film production company and the original name of Cavedog, the company who made Total Annihilation, the best RTS ever), Garp (character from the second greatest book ever).

Occupation: about to finish school (8 days left), then probably study Arts at Melbourne Uni (oh yeah i live in Melbourne Australia, officially the most liveable and sportsmad city in the world)...ultimately i want to direct films, preferably zombie films.
Physical: short, fattish, green eyes, brown hair - ultimately plain, but one girl said i have rogue charm (hence joining the ARD?!?!)
Interests: I am foremost a Christian, that is my primary interest, then comes film and music. favourite films are The Godfather Trilogy, The Usual Suspects, Shawshank Redemption. musicwise: i am utterly addicted to Queen (even tho i am straight, i loooooooooooove Freddie) and the Beatles, so mostly 'golden oldies' but i am a bit of a music-whore. plus the usual nerdy stuff - D&D, Magic (duh), writing stories, reading books, computers...oh and i write bad poetry.
Magic: i generally like rogue decks, but i also like to play tournaments with my friends, who are all into more competitive decks, so i do make the occasional 'tier-one' deck (read goblins, white weenie). green is my favourite colour (because i am a fatty ;)), and i have being playing for about 3 years. in my opinion the golden age of magic is onslaught block (awesome creatures). i play magic for several reason: its a good social activity, its creative, its competitive, its intelligent and overall it is just good plain fun.
Hey, here's an idea, what if we all make magic cards of ourselves...i'll start:
frozen_yak 3RG
Haste, Trample
frozen_yak comes into play with a faith counter on it.
remove a faith counter from frozen_yak: gain control of target creature until end of turn, it gains haste.
whenever frozen_yak deals damage to an opponent, put a faith counter on it.
4/4
No, it wouldn-t work, because the effect is triggered when the spell is played...not when it´s ressolved....and PLAYING the spell itself does not got to the stack....so the trigger would be on the previous ammonunt of Counters....
