Here is a piece that I am doing for a friend of mine. He tried his hand at this but decided to let me do this one. This is a VERY rough piece still. No glue, no coloured edges, nothing other than being cut. there are a bunch of small pieces not pictured (teeth, sinew, etc). I wanted to share this at this early a stage. 22 layers, no filler, the top will be Russian, and the text box will be Russian and signed. Its just an art piece.
Okay, this is the coolest thing I've seen in a long while! Every piece displayed here is impressive... I'm going to have to give this a try. (I intend to practice with lands or something first.)
I do have a question though... About how well would a Revised Shivan Dragon look with 3D? Do you think it would look alright? Or should I do something else instead of a Shivan?
looking for a good card to cut up, anyone got some ideas?

I have a few I'm gonna be working on simultaneously. Karona, False God (thnx for inspiration there Shazaam), Staggershock, WWK Smother, Shepherd of Lost Hope, Vampire's Bite, Soul's Attendant, Plated Geopede.... uh... and a few others, can't quite remember them all. I'm thinking the Karona is probably gonna be mine until someone offers me something for it. I think overall, in the next few weeks I'll have roughly 10 of these in my possession. Have to get ready for M11 PreRelease sales I hope to make. I dunno if I'll be in Houston or San Antonio though.
@ Kaos MD, I just bought one at wal-mart for like two dollars otherwise try a craft store they should have some. Also Reckless Scholar would look good 3D.
I saw this and just had to try it. I started with Kor Soldier and Plant tokens and will get pics up when I can. I think that unhinged cards that escape the border are next on the docket to try. That or more tokens.
can some one please explain how to make these cards. I get the basic idea but can it be taught or is it a really complicated and drawn out thing? How many hours goes into making one?
And When are they going to get sold on ebay cause odds are I am way to lazy to try and make one myself. I also would probably just suck at it.
@bstars4evr, Black Lotus already kinda looks 3D with the actual lotus in the foreground, the abstract background and the light (light colors tend to come towards the eye or look closer) brown border i bet it would only take a couple Black Lotuses (Loti?) to make.... so like only about $8000-$10000 worth right?
I don't mind sharing what I know, so don't hesitate to PM me.
@fearmeordie: Awesome. The more layers you can add, the better (in my opinion) the 3d look of it. I like working with A LOT of layers. I just finished cutting a Domestication yesterday. Lots of little fine details and about 20 layers deep.
@HalftheOctopus: I use some Elmer's-like craft glue. I don't know what it is since I got it from my wife and all it has scribbled on the bottle is "Craft Glue". I'm gonna guess and say that its Elmer's Craft Glue.
But as I stated, lots of info to be found in that Tutorial Thread.
I finished a mirrodin mountain but I forgot to color the edges(d'oh)
It still looks ok, I really want to do some of the m10 orthinopters but sadly I ave but only 2. Any one have a good way for making space fillers, I know the foam spaces or commons but how do you get them to the same shape as the layer?
I'll try to post my cards if I ever find my camera:D

Usually you request for commisions through PM. (I'd gladly do it)

@Megabug: I usually just make a border card to use as filler. cut the center parts out of the card and you should be good. I'll post more of an in depth showing on the tutorial thread once i get that far with one of my cards.
[Edit] I have so many commons and lands that I usually use those as filler. Those and cards I've misscut, or messed up in some way. Always save your mistakes, they can still be used.
A couple more cards from me. The first is one of the first EDH generals I did, but only had blurry pictures until recently. I just put him up for auction
I'd answer most of the questions the same way serrot has.
For glue, I use Floracraft StyroGlue. There are a lot of different thoughts on adhesives in the tutorial thread, though.
I've been doing a bunch of these lately. Some have come out very good, others not so much. I wanted to ask if anyone has found additional or alternative cutting tools. It seems like everyone is using the X-Acto #11 blade. This works great for general cutting, but for very, very small details I find myself wishing I had a thinner or speared blade. This is especially true for cards that have features with extremely small details, like lots of leaves, bushes, hair, and similar. For example, something like Growth Spasm seems extremely difficult with just a #11. I realize it is a very difficult card regardless of blade, but are there any blades suited for extremely fine detail like this? And in general are there any other knives/blades out that there would be worth looking at?
In the meantime, I'll work on getting some good pictures of my work up.
@d.g: I use the #11 blades for what I do, atleast I think they are #11. I get mine free and without packaging from a friend. I just did a 22 layer Domestication (not glued yet), so if used with a bit of control, small details are doable.
Small details are hard. Anywho, my WIP Domestication. As it is, only the small bits are glued and nothing else. I thought it looked pretty kewl that I just had to post it. Trust me, it looks immensely insane in real life.
Edit: i moved the image over to my WIP folder in photobucket, had to update it
that looks excellent so far. i think that the people in this thread are revolutionizing the 3D card industry so to speak. You guys are showing me up. I'm going to hammer something out this weekend or so and post it up.

Zendikar 'Bowl' Islands look sweet 3-d. Take a foil one as the background, then put regular ones in front. It looks epic.

reckless scholar has a cool picture that would look great for 3-D. If only I could find a stupid exacto knife because this would look sick.
Great work guys! Keep it up!
might as well go all the way
but seriously, those life counters are pretty sweet
