Well hello hello hello! It's that magical time of the year, butterflies and dragons flying, flowers blooming, and new magical phenomena erupting everywhere. Ahhh, truly a wonderful time of the year!
Welcome to the Card Creation League!
The Card Creation League is a monthly contest in which players compete over seven rounds. Each month has an overall theme and/or story, determined by that month's host.
Each round, the host will assign a card creation task to the players. This task may vary between teams or players.
The first three rounds are open to everyone who joined in the sign-up thread, which will be posted near the end of the previous month. After these rounds, the Top 8 players will move on to three single elimination rounds to determine a winner.
Rounds usually last three to four days for submissions and about two days for critiques, but the host has final say in making the schedule.
For the first three rounds, players are divided into teams. Four teams is standard, but there may be more or less depending on the number of players. Each team will review another team's cards during the critique period of that round.
Each player must submit a Top 3 ranking for the team he or she critiques at the end of each round. Each 1st place is worth 3 points, 2nd place 2 points, and 3rd place 1 point.
Additionally, each player can receive 2 bonus points per round. One point is awarded for posting a Top 3, and one point for providing critiques for that team's cards.
Suggested areas to critique include creativity, balance, printability, and relation to the overall theme or that player's previous cards.
Players who do not post a card or a Top 3 will be put on "probation." Top 3 violations for a round can be removed by posting or PMing the host with your Top 3 before the end of the next round. Any player that would receive a second violation is disqualified from further competition that month.
At the end of the first three rounds, the Top 8 players will be selected by points (usually the top 2 from each team). In the case of ties, there may be more than 8 players advancing. The host will determine matchups for single elimination. At the end of each elimination round, remaining players not in that matchup will choose a winner to advance. The host will break any ties.
The final round is determined by public poll.
Each round, the players have a chance of getting a total of 100 points toward their score. Each score is determined by the following equation:
The grading of 3 points for first place, 2 points for second and 1 for third still stands. This is also the case for up to 2 points for crits and Top3.
Total points of player A in round N = 100 * X/Y
Where:
X = Total number of points given by judges + Bonus points for critiques/Top3
Y = Total number of points possible (3*Number of judges + Bonus Points)
This way the grading is more streamlined in the fact that all rounds up to going to top 8 are graded equally, and there is no handicap for any team that has fewer judges.
Each player starts the next round with the score that he previously had, and another possible 100 points is given to him at the end of that round. Therefore, there is a possible 300 points before the CCL goes to top 8.
You receive one point for submitting a top 3 on time, and one additional point if you critique all of the cards you judged.

If you did not post a top 3 for the last round, you must include it in your post in this thread. This was in the last thread but I had forgotten to put it here.
Challenge: Create a card that shows the motivation of your group to send you through the portal(Example: Your land is flooding, you need to go through in order to get help from the other planes. You are interested in money. Etc. I recommend that you provide an explanation (short or long) with your card, but that is purely optional.)
So, join the summer frolic and fun and may the best spellslinger win! (Also, this is a flavorful month, feel free to include backstory wherever you want.)
Submissions will be due when July 9th becomes July 10th Est. Critiques will be due by 12:00 pm on July 11th, EST. If you did not get your critiques/top 3 in on time please post them in the next thread and you will be allowed to continue, but will not receive any points for them. If you missed your top 3's, you may not post in this thread unless you post them in your post.

Monarch of Whispers :4mana::symub::symub::symub: Mythic Rare Legendary Creature – Nightmare

Silhouette Sanctorum :2mana::symub::symub: Rare World Enchantment
If a creature were to attack, exile that creature instead and put a creature token that is a copy of that creature onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. At the beginning of each player's end step, exile all creature tokens that are copies of creatures exiled by ~, then return all creatures exiled by ~ to the battlefield.
In a place fabricated by those that never were, we cease to be as we truly are.
Nightmares are a supernatural conundrum; real yet completely unreal. They are born from the darkest of ambitions while being entangled within the most intimate of fears. Their existence is shrouded in agonizing non-logic. They are but haunted recollections of the cruel and sinister, breathed into reality in order to perpetuate a moment that they never experienced. Knowing only the torment of itself, a nightmare has no sense of right or wrong, but rather the twisted and maddening spectrum of evil from which it was created. Such is the nightmare, a baleful reliving of an abhorrent past, destined to keep alive the monstrous deeds of others.
UHHHG!!! I can't believe I didn't notice that my last card was COMPLETELY susceptible to infest!!

Mirrodin. Plane of Metal. In the Razor Fields where the White mana hums faintly within the metallic landscape, the Auriok resides. People lives there, and they have harvested the metal of the Razor Plains for weaponry and as a tradition. They live by the Leonin, the cat-like humanoid race. Among the Auriok, there was a man named Forns.
Forns was a reknown Auriok champion, as he has used many weapons, his skills has remained unmatched. But one day he decided that he would go out on a pilgramidge to become even stronger than before, and train himself to be a better weaponmaster. Armed with a thin fencing epee, his cloak, and a special "nettle" weapon, he journeys out. Bringing his only student with him, Jus.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Auriok seemed concerned today, as a portal of some sort has opened and has been staying there in a still distance. It does not suck anything in, but there seems to be something inside that the portal wants to have someone to see. The maw of the portal stands in the middle of the fields like an ominous omen.
Forms decided to come and investigate it. But before leaving, the Auriok chief gave him the good luck charm of the village: The Specialist's Torque. It has been said that those wearing this torque on their neck are said to give the wearer an improvement in his or her five senses, stimulate the flow of thought within the mind, and gain a better edge at fighting. Perceptiveness is also enhanced, as the user can concentrate on the movement of the weapon to dodge perfectly. It wasa treasure the Auriok's very rarely would give to their own kind, and this was one of the tools needed for Forns to survive in this quest.
People said I didn't followed Alara very well. And I didn't! It's the porpouse! Fell the background:
Maakyel was once a beautiful and graceful angel that followed the wishes of his people, however, without even looking at their eyes. With the Maelstorm and the fusion of the shards, black and red mana came into Bant, affecting its inhabitants. Maakyel was no exception. With the pulse of black mana and red mana, he went into madness, crumbled into almost nothing, betrayed all those who once considered him a graceful angel. Then, he started to see how things are in a new way. The colision of such opposite kinds of mana with his own mana made his spark light, and thus he became a Planeswalker. Now with his new WBR body and powers, Maakyel started to rise his own empire, judging himself as powerful enough to rule over his own plane. His army consists from human and spirit knights, angels and demons -- all of them following him by his greatness, or at least for his power. Their primary mechanic is still the W-related Exalted, 'cause they can't negate their origins, however, its use became more darkened and now they use it alongside with life-drain WB abilities and brutal BR effects, maintaining always an RW order and military tatics. But Alara itself wasn't enough for Maakyel -- it had never been. Now, his ambition expands through the Multiverse itself. He wants to conquer, he wants to rule over all and over everyone. No one shall stay on his way, otherwise will suffer his oppression. Those who welcome his empire shall survive and be prosperous, the others will be doomed.
Well hello hello hello! It's that magical time of the year, butterflies and dragons flying, flowers blooming, and new magical phenomena erupting everywhere. Ahhh, truly a wonderful time of the year!
The grading of 3 points for first place, 2 points for second and 1 for third still stands. This is also the case for up to 2 points for crits and Top3.
Total points of player A in round N = 100 * X/Y
Where:
X = Total number of points given by judges + Bonus points for critiques/Top3
Y = Total number of points possible (3*Number of judges + Bonus Points)
This way the grading is more streamlined in the fact that all rounds up to going to top 8 are graded equally, and there is no handicap for any team that has fewer judges.
Each player starts the next round with the score that he previously had, and another possible 100 points is given to him at the end of that round. Therefore, there is a possible 300 points before the CCL goes to top 8.
You receive one point for submitting a top 3 on time, and one additional point if you critique all of the cards you judged.
World Enchantment
If a creature were to attack, exile that creature instead and put a creature token that is a copy of that creature onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. At the beginning of each player's end step, exile all creature tokens that are copies of creatures exiled by ~, then return all creatures exiled by ~ to the battlefield.
In a place fabricated by those that never were, we cease to be as we truly are.
Nightmares are a supernatural conundrum; real yet completely unreal. They are born from the darkest of ambitions while being entangled within the most intimate of fears. Their existence is shrouded in agonizing non-logic. They are but haunted recollections of the cruel and sinister, breathed into reality in order to perpetuate a moment that they never experienced. Knowing only the torment of itself, a nightmare has no sense of right or wrong, but rather the twisted and maddening spectrum of evil from which it was created. Such is the nightmare, a baleful reliving of an abhorrent past, destined to keep alive the monstrous deeds of others.
UHHHG!!! I can't believe I didn't notice that my last card was COMPLETELY susceptible to infest!!
Mirrodin. Plane of Metal. In the Razor Fields where the White mana hums faintly within the metallic landscape, the Auriok resides. People lives there, and they have harvested the metal of the Razor Plains for weaponry and as a tradition. They live by the Leonin, the cat-like humanoid race. Among the Auriok, there was a man named Forns.
Forns was a reknown Auriok champion, as he has used many weapons, his skills has remained unmatched. But one day he decided that he would go out on a pilgramidge to become even stronger than before, and train himself to be a better weaponmaster. Armed with a thin fencing epee, his cloak, and a special "nettle" weapon, he journeys out. Bringing his only student with him, Jus.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Auriok seemed concerned today, as a portal of some sort has opened and has been staying there in a still distance. It does not suck anything in, but there seems to be something inside that the portal wants to have someone to see. The maw of the portal stands in the middle of the fields like an ominous omen.
Forms decided to come and investigate it. But before leaving, the Auriok chief gave him the good luck charm of the village: The Specialist's Torque. It has been said that those wearing this torque on their neck are said to give the wearer an improvement in his or her five senses, stimulate the flow of thought within the mind, and gain a better edge at fighting. Perceptiveness is also enhanced, as the user can concentrate on the movement of the weapon to dodge perfectly. It wasa treasure the Auriok's very rarely would give to their own kind, and this was one of the tools needed for Forns to survive in this quest.
