Just recently back after not having played since Urza. This is what I have been using for a week now but I feel it needs tweaking. Most of my play testing is against friends who have not stopped playing but only really play EDH or Vintage so not really a good test for standard. The deck plays fun but feels likei could do better. Any criticism is appreciated.
Edit: Sorry posted in the R/x portion, wasnt even paying attention to that. However, pertaining to that. Would nixing some of my cards eg. true conviction and etched champion for stuff like splinter twin and galvanic blast be worthwhile?
imo, its not really a matter of being countered, but more the fact that you're being delayed. btw what's BoP? its 3am and my mind isn't working straight :))
Its Birds of Paradise.
...Wouldn't the thought of 'card strength' enter the mind then? If your cards aren't strong enough to recover from tempo loss and you dont end the game within turn 4-5 anyway, wouldn't you be better off playing something that isnt weak in both those points?

@phoenixM
too expensive for me :)) but if you're running red, put in there 4 splinter twin for an easier win con if you can get galv, a mana myr, and that ench on. My concern is that it might be too slow to bring out all your creatures/etc in that your opponent might be faster.
come to think of it, that's always been my worry with a myr deck. an elfdrazi/elf deck is way way faster than a myr deck and that bugs me totally =/

I know what you mean. Somehow I'm thinking if I just wasted my money building a myr deck. =/ Maybe I would've been better off building a turbowave or titan ramp or elfdrazi deck =/ But idk, i guess its fun to see my opponents get beat down by myrs. And the fact that myrs are infinitely cuter than any other creature on mtg makes playing the deck fun.
If you wanna put there BoP or the other elf card, it'll be much better to make a deck around mana ramping instead. Myrs have more synergy not just the mana ability, but also the tapping ability. like... did you know...
lets say you have 2 myr balls on the field, with 8 tokens. you can actually make each ball's X = 8, (i.e. each ball will get +8 and will each hit for 8) by tapping all your tokens, then using galva, untap the tokens and tap them again for the second ball. Token acceleration is also possible with ball + splinter twin and myrsmith.
Its those synergy that make myrs fun to play with, albeit being comparatively weaker than most decks. Still I think there's potential given the right combination. Hope we all find that combination
So after further play testing, Ive opted to run 4 of Garruk Wildspeaker, he offers so much more for 1 extra mana of Galvanizer, and his 3/3 token combined with nim deathmantle gives you a 5/5 unblockable token if you are board wiped, U/W control really have no answer for it.
And speaking of nim deathmantle, it has really proven its worth, making Myr Battlesphere unblockable, or having a resuable Clone Shell every turn or recurring Wurmcoil Engine every for two 3/3 tokens. still considering upping it to 1 more, as well as maybe trying to fit in Precursor Golem, it would be nice to drop a t4 golem with Garruk and t5 trample them for 18 damage.
I am finding this deck to have alot of outs and alot of damage.
With Mimic Vat and nim deathmantle it makes it hard to get rid of the creatures and with all the digging cards it can recover fairly fast and comes out really consistant
As always im opening for Constructive critisim
on a side note, im only running white lands and dual lands in the deck for sideboard options as well as man lands.
Question: Is mimic vat really important? I can understand the value of the card on its own, but how does it go along with the rest of the deck? I'm still loving the concept btw. Also, how integral is garruk in this build?
I guess OP wants it to be 'keyworded' like "dies" was. What word would you replace ETB with though?
When Aegis Angel is born?
When Huntmaster of the Fells arrives?
When Kitchen Sphinx lands?
When Faerie Imposter busts in?
When Dread Cacodemon pops in?
When Malfegor shows up?
Well if BoP isn't something to be considered for myr, atleast put voltaic key in there. Not having a one drop sucks ass for speed/tempo/strength unless your playing jund, where the CA is ridiculous anyway.

Mimic vat is there more so if the game starts to run long, early game its not needed as much but as the game starts to drag on it can be a finisher if you drop a battlesphere on it or a wurmcoil for that mater, and as for Garruk, I really like him in this build, he gives you alot of options, making your small guys overrun, acelerating mana, and creating a token when your creatures are removed, and as you know there arent as many outs for planeswalkers anymore so he should stick most of the time. and as far as expensive, I believe you can pick up a playset of him for around 23 dollars on E-bay Buy it Now, thats roughly 6 bucks a card, not much at all.
@vexed
i know! i can't believe i forgot that. I've been looking for an untapper and have even considered a blue instant for that. Thanks for reminding how many would you recommend?
@jtbears
ahh i see. Nah garruk is pretty cheap compared to wurmcoil engine :)) If I replace wurmcoil with steelhellkite, you think that'll still work well? or maybe platinum emperion? I can probably get the others for cheaper price. Also since its mostly green due to garruk, i think i'll just run forrest and the manland. Tell me how it works out! Im honestly excited for your build ;P

What would you remove to put a 1 drop in there? I could drop one of the mana myrs for a BOP, Ive yet to test it but ill give it a try and see how it works, but I dont see the need for voltaic key, if anything I would put in brittle effigy over voltaic key.

I would think a combination of Hellkite and precursor golem would work just fine, though there easier to remove they do have certain advantages that wurmcoil do not, such as bringing in tokens for a nasty trample attack or destroying there permanants with hellkite, and if you put a deathmantle on him he is unblockable as well.
I also want to include Fireball, for a win condition when 2x Myr Galvanizer+ Palladium Myr/2 Mana Myr (combo for infinite mana) is in play. Also, as something to do with the large amounts of mana the deck makes.
Another card is Prototype Portal, for getting a second galvanizer easy for the above combo.
Riddlesmith for card draw to work to get either mana/splinter twin combo out faster. Also, Foresee for the same reason.
Anyone have ideas to get some/all of these cards in the list?

I would stay away from Fireball though. You'd be surprised at how difficult it is to get those two Galvanizers and keep them. Also Prototype Portal is quite slow and unreliable in my opinion. It just gives them a really good target for artifact removal.
I'm thinking about using a transformative sideboard at this Friday's FNM. My current maindeck is fairly typical B/U combo. For aggro myr, would running steel overseers as a pumper make sense? also, what other cards would work for this kind of sideboard?
I just playtested my myr deck. I still consistently lose to valakut ramp with primeval titan and avenger of zendikar on it. :| I also lose to RDW consistently :| However, I can win vs slower decks like UW control, UW mill, mono-green. haven't tested vs black control though i feel i'll do horribly as well x.x Is there no hope for competitive myr deck? :|
Something I've been considering is Chain Reaction for against weenie and/or ramp decks. With the number of Myr you can field quickly (barring any removal, of course), the beaters in Valakut-ramp die in a fire of 5-6, maybe even 8+ damage without a second thought. Combine that with Myr Reservoir to recycle your myr back into play, and things might be looking better for you . . . though I'd think Chain is more of a sideboard card in some cases, especially for the combo-style decks.
chain reaction will hurt you more than it'll hurt them as you're pretty dependent on myrs for mana accel. Most valakut ramps I've played with ramp with cultivate, harrow, explore. even overgrown battlement isn't a usual maindeck for it.
For valakut and RDW, have you considered playing some super-cheap counters if running blue/red? Spell Pierce and Negate could both be capable of shutting down ramp if you get them early.
Edit: This is speculation. I can't run tests against these decks till friday at the earliest.
It is good to learn from your failures, but I prefer to learn from the failures of others.

maybe Precursor Golem or Steel Hellkite
Depends on the colors your running, but Ancient stirrings is nice for the 1 mana cost and it lets you look at 5 cards and pick one

You want to use your mana? Play bombs. Myr Battlespere is an obvious one. In my mono-red built I run Inferno Titan. Why not run him or Frost Titan?
Any of those or all three could be good.
