Hyuk yuk!
We still have our Christmas decorations up too because we're too lazy to take them down just yet.
Maybe next weekend?
We have a fake tree that we bought years ago, so rotted timber isn't an issue here. I'm getting tired of it being up is all.
Christmas decorations around here go up sometime in the second half of November and stay up until sometime in late January or early February. I think it got started that way because we used to spend a lot of time at Disneyland, and their decorations go up in mid-November, coming down the first or second weekend of January, so we see theirs up and want it up in our house, too, and then are a bit lazy as for getting it all down. Also, there's a lot of decorations. This year, several of the bookshelves were cleared to make room for the still-growing collection of small houses, so the space they used to be displayed on could instead be room for the rapidly growing collection of a particular kind of plastic Santa...

My anecdotal evidence disagrees with yours! EXPLAIN THAT!
Ummm...Kank...you might've misread my post. Mine were down like 4 days after Christmas. The house was a mess, so we ended up cleaning up everything. Including the decorations. Of course, we don't have a lot of decorations, so it's not a lot of cleaning up or putting up. It maybe only took an hour to do so.
Of course, we live in a tiny house, so we don't need much.
@Zith: Weird. I can't imagine putting up Holiday stuff before Thanksgiving. I guess I'm very resistant to the idea of ignoring Thanksgiving by putting Christmas before it. I'm weird like that, I guess. This year was the first year I started my Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving...it was weird for me.
Edit: I started really working in my Intro to Metals and Jewelry class today. Below is my first (and One) Ring. I got a little too much solder on it, but I think it's cool.
Notice of Closure
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to your Members list you have only had 3 clan members posting in the past two weeks. Rule 12 of the clan subforum states that you need at least six active members to remain a clan. The 4th member posted on 8-29-10, 5th on 8-23-10 and You have not had a sixth member post since 7/27/10. Therefore in accordance to that rule and the announcement made at the start of this year (1-1-2011) I hereby put [ImageCrafters+] on a Notice of Closure.
In two weeks, (1-24-2011), if you can not show six active members I will have no choice but to retire this clan.
Good luck.

I hadn't realised how much I missed oatmeal. We served it at the cafe/pastry shop we operated for school, so it was also always among the options we had for breakfast, and I had some more often than not. We'd prep the next day's batch at the end of the day, so the oats soaked in the milk for over 12 hours with the stick cinnamon and bean vanilla before their slow cook. So tasty!
In looking up other porridges at Wiki, I found this little gem: "Potato porridge, eaten in Norway, is a thick, almost solid paste made from cooked potatoes mixed with milk and barley." Now how did we fail to import that one?

I've been eating a lot of polenta (corn grits) because it's so damn good for you like most grains. I'm very partial to my oats being steel cut with preserves.
I like Barley a lot too, but it takes forever to cook.
You know, I've thought about joining a clan before, and looked at this one (and MTGSalivation before the merger). The others simply aren't appealing to me.
I'm really not much of a visual artist, but I am an Artwork moderator. And a self-proclaimed foodie. Surely that counts for something, huh?

It sure does!
Can you bring along some friends too?
It looks like we'll still need two more members to keep this clan alive though.
That counts for plenty Pichoro! We do need more members. Unfortunately, two of our regulars got lives outside the internet about two months ago, and we've been down to just the four of us most recently.
We'd love to have someone new join the clan. As of late, it's been more foodie than artwork, but you obviously appreciate it enough to be mod!
As for bringing in more members, maybe you could post something in the artwork forum, like Nai does with the story contests and stuff? I don't think a lot of the artists know that we exists, unfortunately. Could you help spread the word?

I used to have time to do all sorts of artsy stuff, from painting on cards, to making crazy videos, to outright making card games and board games.
Now the most artistic I am is in the kitchen.
I just don't have the energy or creative impetus anymore it seems to make the kind of stuff I used to.
So I've been looking through clan threads today. I'm liking the looks of this place here. I used to do a lot of art and spoken word until a coin flip some years back. Nowadays I tend to alter bodies rather than lumps of clay...But I do love to play with food!
Currently it's about time for me to make another round of hot sauces, and I've just past the stage of thinking about home-brewing beer to the stage of looking at equipment.
So if you don't mind me crawling in, I'll try to help keep this afloat.
Haha....I understand the lack of desire, Kank. That's why I decided I'd force myself to jumpstart my artistic thinking by taking an art class I've got no experience in. And that's why I'm in Intro to Metals and Jewelry. I posted the pictures of my first ring earlier in the thread. I'm hoping it's going to continue to make me think artistically and get me to do more stuff other than writing.
That's mostly what I've been doing is writing lately. A lot.
@Patredwood: Welcome to the clan! All we ask is to keep coming and not to be too judgmental! We talk art, life, food, and (sometimes) Magic. What kind of hot sauces do you enjoy making?

So Slavan, when are you going to start sharing some snippets of these creative writing ventures with us?
I keep thinking I'm going to get my act together and either scan or digitize some of the stuff I made years ago. I don't get online much at home (the main computer crapped out) and I often only have just a few minutes at a time here at work, which just gives me enough time to post something wacky in the humor games section (often to the delight and/or chagrin of our new clansman patredwood).
I do have an iPod Touch and can check up on things with it when in WI-FI range, but it's not the easiest thing to use to type up a dialog of any length.
Anybody have an iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad? I'm addicted to Words With Friends (think Scrabble with a slightly different layout).
If anyone has the notion to play, just add Kankennon to your contacts list.
Hey all, I'm just dropping by to tell you that the deadline I gave of 1/24/11 is a bit off...I added wrong...it's really 1/28/11 and this is your one week notice.
Looking good so far. I take it that patredwood and pichoro are officially in? That brings you to 5. Is Emo_Pinata a member or just a friend?
Anyway, good luck finding one more person.

Glad to be here! I usually start with a large pot of tomatoes, vinegar, a little sugar, and the hottest peppers I can find as a base. Then I add whatever I have handy to make each bottle unique.
Unaltered base: generic tasty hotness.
Blue Blaze: I blended in some fresh blueberries. Great with meats, and anything over a bed of rice.
The Red Scare: Starting with 4oz red wine, I added A LOT of paprika, chili powder, and cumin. Then reduced that into a paste, and mixed it into the base sauce. This one had a smokey flavor and was amazing with everything but desserts.
Yellow Fever: Mixed tumeric and ground mustard straight into the sauce. It was ok, good with vegetable dishes, but I won't repeat it anytime soon.
Lemon Merangue DIE!: I don't know if this one was a failure or a success. I added lemon juice and lemon curd, but I far underestimated the sweetness of the curd. It was extremely sugary and spicy. It was pretty tasty on ice cream and cinnamon buns. But I didn't really find any other applications.
So the Red Scare and Blue Blaze are getting remade with this next batch. I'm going to have to make up some nice labels for those bottles. That'll leave me with 2 to 3 pints that need some flavor, anybody got suggestions?
So, playing around with dead bodies and hot sauce? This sounds like a good start to one of those Outrageous Lies tales!
I looooooove Mexican food, but I'm the type of guy that likes to taste the food rather than just hot, so I prefer a flavorful chunky picante option over the likes of Tabasco et al.
So, we have a week left to get ONE more person at least (more if possible).
Anybody have any prolific clanless friends they can invite?

Sorry, I like participating in the clan contests and the like. I love talking about food and posting the occasional link to something art-y.
@Kank: I would share some of that writing, but it's not okay for anyone under the age of 18, so, by site rules, I can't even link to it. It's....dirty. And we'll leave it at that. I've also pursued some sketching of the human anatomy, but again, it's unpostable. I post most anything I draw that I can.
@Pat: Mmm...those sauces sound delicious. I'm assuming that the blueberry and the lemon meringue ones are QUITE spicy due to the extra acidity from the fruit. However, the idea of a spicy lemon topping that could be served with an ice cream dish is very interesting. It sounds a little reminiscent of a pepper jelly, almost.
As for flavors...try going exotic. Tamarind, Papaya, Mango. All are successful in Indian and Hispanic food for adding flavors to the heat.

I figured as much--it was worth a shot.
If we only had more members we might be able to participate in some of the clan contests. The last one I remember being in was back in [MTGSalivation]. I'm usually too busy on the weekends, but I'm here every regular weekday for sure.
EDIT:

Quick FYI. I figured I might could help so I gave Sterling Angel a call see if I can't get her to make an appearance. Strange note, apparently her mom doesn't know who "Sterling Angel" is...took me a bit to remember that she has a real name. Well the number was Arizonian, not Canadian, but if the mom passes my name and number to Sterling I should be able to relay the message that her clan could use help.
That all assumes she still has any interest for salvation. She hasn't logged on since October.
I've no idea if anything'll come from that but I figured it was worth a try.
Good luck finding that 6th member.
