based on Mike Flores build of Frights from star city games i also much prefer the build with Copious amounts of draw power at INSTANT speed and out carding the competition. i have the 3 lilianas and tributes to help keep tempo down from delver and their hexproof vermin! then my beaters have changed slightly to assist with CIP effects.. the massacre wurm for instance is incredible agaist the NAYA pod and GR aggro decks giving me almost insta kill... same with token based stats as well... with this deck i have a very strong MU against those archetypes but am still 50/50 with UW UB super control builds...
SideBoard gives open ability to swap into a Pseudo BW walker token deck with a few bombs on the top end supporting the mid game with board wipers... it normally doest happen until game 3 if i lose game 2 to a ton of sideboarding hate... (meta dependent im sure) but when they have all the grave hate and critter bounce and are waiting for unburial to win the game you just start droppoing planeswalkers and curses...
I highly recommend trying some alternate strategies in place of the Llanowars. Give Huntmaster of the Fells a shot in that slot and I think you will be impressed. Reasoning is this: You really don't need the extra green mana. He basically taps for 1 and even if you get to 4 mana turn three, you very well might lack either the Red to dump a fatty with Looting or the White to Flashback Rites.
Also, I personally really like the 2/2 Wurmcoil/Inferno split because of a few things: Wurmcoil's lifegain is relevant to playing catch-up, Wurmcoil is resistant to removal, and you can't surgically extract half of your threats in one shot. A couple of guys in my area are running zombies! builds with 4 Surgical Extraction between main and side.
I'm hoping to try this out at FNM either tomorrow or next week. The SB will probably be pretty similar to Levy's original (including alternative Rites targets such as Jin-Gitaxis etc).
In summation.....Star Trek wins a prolonged naval battle against superior, yet less technologically advanced, numbers, with Picard leading the assault, while Kirk takes your soul by laying out Solo and probably his manservant Chewy as well, before impregnating and ditching your Princess.
Hi all. This is my approach to FRITES deck. I've noticed in my FNMs that it is actually hard to go against control, particularly when they SB in for Surgical Extraction. Here's what I did for my recent FNM and went 5-0.
My solution was simple, even if I don't draw Unburial Rites I can have Quicksilver Amulet as secondary cheat. I agree it[the amulet] is quite slow, but if it survives next turn, I can have a non-counterable, instant speed creature on the opponent's turn either Combat Phase or EoT. What I like about this list is that I am not limited to only throwing card in GY and I can keep the fatties in my hand with no problem. As you may also noticed, I've used almost all the NPH Praetors except for Urabrask. Jin Gitaxias and Vorinclex is just awesome, especially against control decks. While Elesh Norn and Sheoldred locks opposing board. I also did not use any of the SOM lands since I really don't need lands that enter tapped in the late game or when I can use the Amulet the following turn.
My sideboard option was really to take on control and delver, since almost always the deck needs some perfect card draws against them, especially when they bring in Grafdigger's Cage and Surgical Extraction. Feel free to comment on my deck. Thanks!

Not sure if this card is gonna get banned sooner or maybe later...
Please don't make crap up. This is such an obvious word vomit it's ridiculous. Something about the internet and people thinking they need to say something to fit in..
I really liked Boyd and Levy's take on the deck, especially the transformational sideboard, but right now my friends and I are overlapping cards between WRR and the transformational sideboard, so I'm on a standard sideboard model.
Testing is solid. I'm hoping it will get some results at a GPQ tomorrow.
So far the deck is 6-2 in tournament play (3-1 in two tournaments). As for the card choices, by category
Mana Acceleration
The split of Elves and Pilgrims is always controversial. I went 2/3 since the deck already has 18 Green sources and 11 White sources. I may go 1/4 Elves/Pilgrims, but I haven't decided 100% yet.
Graveyard Enablers
Reforge the Soul is the latest addition. I'm torn on this one, since it allows you to dump your hand and draw a new 7. Sometimes you want to ditch a hand of fatties, sometimes you need gas when your hand is empty. The only drawback is filling your opponent's hand. I'm going to continue to run with it.
I've never been a fan of Tracker's Instinct. It pulls the deck into a 5th colour, necessitating the inclusion of Shimmering Grotto or Darkslick Shores. I've brought it down to two since there's not really a better option available. I thought of Desperate Ravings, but I'm not a fan of the randomness of the discard, since the mana base is a little shaky.
Reanimation Package
Grislebrand and Craterhoof Behemoth are the latest additions, in lieu of Wurmcoils or Inferno Titans that most builds usually run. Grislebrand, at a minimum, draws you seven, typically on your opponent's turn. Even if you don't attack with him, he's 8 mana for 7 cards...not too shabby.
Craterhoof Behemoth lives up to his name. I think this is the game changer card that this deck needed. Elesh Norn really does a job against most decks, but the Behemoth just gives the deck a new dimension with the trample and the +X/+X. It has turned losses into wins for me on more than one occasion.
The question I have is should it be 2/1 Behemoth/Wurmcoil, or the other way around?
Sideboard
This leans towards the transformative SB, but the Huntmasters can be brought in against aggro decks to buy a little bit of time before you reanimate a large target.
Any thoughts would be helpful

I haven't seen any competitive decks using her and I am trying to figure out why, you get kill on their next turn and if she survives, which she hopefully will cause she can't be killed by a Doom blade or Brimstone volley which seem like the more popular kill in the current meta, then you can just bring back another fatty.
Who has tested her and can share their results?

There's an SCD thread on her already.
I tried her out in an earlier build of Frites and, honestly, she was unimpressive. There are so many ways to deal with legendary creatures ATM, such as Phantasmal Image and Phyrexian Metamorph. It's tough to hardcast with only 4 black sources (plus Birds) versus some of your other options (Sun Titan, Wurmcoil Engine, Elesh Norn, and Craterhoof Behemoth), which surprisingly is very relevant. Once she's on the board, she doesn't do enough against enough decks, versus other creatures in the reanimation package
Sun Titan recurs mana dorks and Phantasmal Images
Wurmcoil's lifelink is very relevant against a lot of matches, like Zombies
Elesh wraths the board and pumps your creatures
Craterhoof is an insta-win
In short, she's unimpressive in the deck

My meta is rich with Naya pod and B/R zombie pod and surprisingly low on Delver. As a result, I've tried to gear my sideboard towards beating the pod decks.
I'd love to hear any feedback on what you guys have found works best against pod decks. That's my biggest threat right now, thanks!

The main deck looks fairly solid. 8 fatties looks good, although I'm running nine in my build (3 of each Wurmcoil, Norn, and Behemoth).
As for the SB, I guess I'm looking for explanations on the following cards
Grave Titan
Sigarda
Purify the Grave
I can kind of see the reasoning behind Sigarda (for Pod, inability to deal with fliers) and Purify the Grave (for Zombies, in response to Undying triggers and Gravecrawlers). Grave Titan I'm scratching my head tho.
I'm struggling with the Pod matchup myself. I've done the following in the past
- 4 Lingering Souls
- 2 Tracker's Instinct
+ 4 Pillar of Flame
+ 2 Zealous Conscripts
I'll admit that my SB is not the best. I'm thinking of adding Bonfire of the Damned to help deal with the Pod and RG aggro matchup
Vs Zombies, have you thought of more Wurmcoils in the board? They just slaughter Zombies because of the lifelink

Zealous Conscripts is a pervasive threat which is the main reasoning behind Sigarda (and the flying is a nice bonus). I will take out grave titan for a zealous conscripts perhaps?
I think I will maindeck another wurmcoil and take out a craterhoof. Lifelink is extremely useful against zombies. But I'm still unsure of how i want to sideboard against pod. Since they all pretty much run zealous, I don't know if I want to run any Elesh norns :/
This is a version of Frites I've been working on in preparation for the format change coming up. This is also hoping that Birds is re-released in RTR. The idea is pretty simple. Abuse Token generators then pop Craterhoof for game. So far this deck has done pretty well 3-1 at the last FNM (Losing to Zombies)
