Agree that it's a mediocre card that won't see play in cube, but it's not trash and I'm happy it was printed. Just not in the context of this format. Similar cards have seen standard play (admittedly in the days of Kitchen Finks)
I wouldn't play it over shock, and wouldn't even play it at instant speed. 1 mana for 2 damage just isn't enough here.
Mirrodin has the best art but is uncommon. Besieged is common.
I don't care if they have a black symbol on it, I go for the best art.
@ Bouncebird: It's pretty great, on the level of Aether Adept at first sight. Evasion is huge, but so is costing 1 less... Still, it's pretty much an autoinclude given the success of cards like Pith Driller.
@Kruin Striker: It seems like an shoe-in for the ever lacking red 2-drop slot. He effectively is a conditional 3/1 trampler which is what red really wants, although if you are not landing your drops then he card be lackluster. But still I feel is a definite incursion in. Red 2cc has always been lacking and he's another step in the right direction. He still isn't as good as the 2 drops in other colours which is sad :(, but he's a step in the right dirction. I wouldn't go crazy over him either because he's not right for any red deck, so he actually isn't likely an auto-include into any cube either.
BTW he's beck in some kind of R/G sligh deck... Mmmm, cheap effective beaters. But he's lack luster in some kind of heavy removal deck.
The flying Man-o-War is definitely an auto-include, as blue's 4 drop creatures are kinda lacking at the moment. All I'm running are Glasskite and Phantom Monster.
Over all, I haven't been too impressed with what this set has to offer for the cube. There's a lot of stuff that's "different" but very little that I would consider "better" than what we have already. And I hate making changes simply for the sake of changing something. So far, there are only 2 or 3 cards that I think I'll be adding, but that's it.
Asking out a girl is like trying to cast a first turn Necropotence. Sometimes the other player will have the Force of Will to say no. You shouldn't let that stop you from trying it.

I agree with this. I kind of like some of the things I'm seeing, but they feel a little on the "safe" side of design which is acceptable for limited design. For an example, one card that caught my eye was the Voice of the Provinces (I think that's the name) that brings a human token along to the table. Could have been real interesting if it created two tokens and/if the token(s) had flying. Granted, that's borderline uncommon territory, but I'd like to see them push what a high cost common might do. At least four evasive power seems fair for 6 CMC at common.
At the moment, the 2/4 Lifelink angel and the Flying ManoWar are the only two auto includes. Then theres some stuff that has to be tested. Compare that to Innistrad, where we got about 10 must-haves.
I don't know if the 2/4 lifelink angel is quite an autoinclude, but I expect it to be pretty good. The bouncebird has to go in every cube though.
I think Kruin Striker is pretty insane and quite close to an autoinclude too. It shouldn't be too hard to make it a 3/1, and it can even get bigger than that.
I like the Striker and the bouncebird, but I'm not a fan of the lifelink flyer. /shrugs.
Aren't very many includes this time around but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Mostly I'll be looking to add random cards to my depleted Testing Zone to bring it back to 10 cards.
my comment was probably lost in the flurry of excitement towards the spoilerz.
but thought you should know lanxal that the project links in the OP aren't working.
they all link to white 1 drops.
Recent discussions here and elsewhere have made it clear that there seems to be a group of players who consider blue and control synonymous, as if they somehow started playing a game with four identical and "bad" colors that do nothing interesting because they just "turn men sideways" and then true, glorious blue, the only thinking person's color.

Yeah, I just really like the lifelink Flyer. I feel like it's exactly the kind of card White really wanted, and it's also very cool flavor-wise to have some lifelink in White.
The red two drop is undoubtedly good, but I'm a bit surprised that it's liked by people who don't run Kiln Fiend. I see that there are red decks that just want to drop more creatures on curve, so the new guy might be better in some of those scenarios. But Fiend is actually better in every other way. I've pretty much always run it and it's an insane card in the right decks for sure.
This is a 2/1, Kiln Feind is a 1/2. Like, is there any other explanation needed? This is a solid card in every red aggressive deck, Kiln Feind is a swingy card that changes the way you build. Plus, red decks I play run at least 16, preferably about 18 creatures. And maybe 6 spells. Don't get me wrong, Kiln Feind is amazing when it works, but it was too much of a gimmick for me.
In theory I seem to be seeing the overall feeling to be adding like 5-8 cards. I think this is a little extravagant, but every new set always has us clammering for new cards. The Angel, Bounce-Bird, and turning the old Naturalize into a new one is the most tight fisted review I could come up with. Other things have that whole "but what to take out" feeling IMO. Red gives options, but they still feel like different flavors of the same, I will concede Striker will probably be found a home for in mine as well.
Do others share a more conservative opinion? Or will ppl really find 5-8 slots?

Those are the exact three cards I will be adding to my cube. I'll probably try my hand at writing a review within the next few days, as I seem to have slightly different opinions than a lot of people in this forum (not a bad thing, just an observation I've noticed) and an actual set review will help bring my point of view across better.
Also, I just want to try writing a review and see how it turns out.

That is an overhaul. I'm looking at the 3 I mentioned and looking hard at the Driver and 3cc aggro black guy. I doubt I will find room for Mulldrifter ver 0.5. But I think I'm cutting Sky Eel School anyways. That said, what dd you think of cutting? The wolf s a no-go for me.

Finally - what do people think about Dead Ringers? Is this any good or dead too much of the time? I suspect the latter, but was wondering if anyone out there in the pauper community has tested it at all.

There's a bunch of stuff I've been wanting to switch out actually; here's what I'm thinking of doing to make room for the new AVR cards:
W:
-Loxodon Partisan +Seraph of Dawn
U:
-Impaler Shrike +Mist Raven
-Chasm Drake +Gryff Vanguard
-Headless Skaab +Elgaud Shieldmate (I think the Shieldmate will be better than it seems at first glance)
B:
-Stromkirk Patrol +Driver of the Dead
R:
-Crossway Vampire +Fervent Cathar (The Cathar just seems like a better version of the vamp in general)
-Village Ironsmith +Kruin Striker (Do people think that Hinterland Hermit > Village Ironsmith?)
-Skirk Maruader +Dangerous Wager (Skirk Maruader has always seemed a bit over-costed to me)
G:
-Kozilek's Predator +Trusted Forcemage
-Dawntreader Elk +Wandering Wolf
-Yavimaya Wurm +Pathbreaker Wurm (I want to test this card out)
After going through my cube a bit, there are a few other changes I'm going to be making:
W:
-Leonin Den-Guard +Temple Acolyte
-Soul Parry +Embolden
-Cessation +Bonds of Faith
-Niveous Wisps +Doomed Traveler
U:
-Spiketail Drakeling +Thalakos Mistfolk
B:
-Tendrils of Corruption +Crippling Fatigue
-Unburden +Skittering Horror
-Mindstab +Undertaker
R:
-Kuldotha Ringleader +Pyrotechnics
-Manic Vandal +Fault Riders
G:
-Boreal Druid +Jungle Lion
-Rampant Growth +Edge of Autumn
-Wirewood Guardian +Nantuko Vigilante
-Reclaim +Invigorate
-Arachnus Web +Utopia Vow
X:
-Darksteel Ingot +Pristine Talisman
Finally - what do people think about Dead Ringers? Is this any good or dead too much of the time? I suspect the latter, but was wondering if anyone out there in the pauper community has tested it at all.

Weighing in on a few things. I think Elf-> Wolf is wrong (but I value it differently.
From what I read, most think Hermit > Ironsmith
And I run Thalakos Scout, I don't know if you tried that yet vs Mistfolk.
I still won't take out Maniac Vandal, but I am sure I cut other things as well, I tried to keep my curve very low.
Interesting none the less.
