I would side Gut Shot unless you play in a delver-heavy local meta. I know it is "free" and feeds shrine as well, but I think it's becoming less and less useful. I know a lot of people think Hellrider is the new card to use, but I would take it out completely unless you are dead set on using him. Also using 2 Koth of the Hammer and 2 Hellrider ups your mana curve significantly. I've seen more and more decks going to a higher curve, and I feel it's more a matter of preference, but if you are going to run 4 4 drops I would really increase the lands to 23-24 minimum.
I see Hero of Oxid Ridge in the sideboard, but I still think he warrants mainboarding if you are going with 4 4 drops (Hero in place of Hellrider).
If you stick with 22 Lands I'd go with 2 4 drops, those being Koth. I'd sideboard 2 Hero of Oxid Ridge. While anthem effects are more popular now, people forget that creatures with POWER 1 or less cannot attack.
When a UB Control deck casts Lingering Souls and flashbacks it, Hero can attack from hand and all those pretty defensive tokens don't matter one squat.
His effect also helps punch in the last little damage you need when they have a mix on the battlefield but taking 2 1/1 chump blockers out of the turn will win you the game.
Lol all joking aside this one is the more consistant of the two decks. I'm considering adding in either Kuldotha Rebirth or anotehr two Reverberate. and If I changed either what do I take out.
As far as how it runs its pretty standard goblin like stuff. Turn 1 pressure and go forward. the Wins usually are when I draw into double Goblin grenade or Reverberate goblin greade. Or on the off times I can use goblin grenade with 4 mana to activate morbid for brimstone volly. Even if the first one gets canceled the second usually gets through.
there is a lot of battlecry with plenty of smaller creatures so it works to stack. It can't match up against any of the teir one matches but it has taken down things like French Frites, B/W Tokens and Wolfrun Ramp.
Its a really tough match up against a lot of other decks like U/w Humans, Delver, mono green/red green aggro (the undying sucks), and Tempered steel. the only chance I had against a tempered steel was when I had buttloads of artifact hate in my sideboard.
However on my side I have no problem activating Metalcraft and for some reason not a lot of decks sided in their artifact hate for me. I guess its b/c they didn't see a shrine.
Koth has been an all-star for me. I've been able to pull of his ultimate several times in the past few months, and it always brings a smile to my face.
Upon first glance, it appears to me that your deck will run out of gas too quickly to be effective. At the very least, I would probably add two more Lavamancers (although he'll probably just eat removal given the paucity of creatures in your build). Consider Faithless Lootings as well, even though it might counter-intuitive to your deck's foundation. And, considering that you only have four cards that can proliferate, I would switch one or two Volt Charge's to Brimstone Volleys. Perhaps splash black for Bump in the Night?
For what it's worth, I think a deck like yours will have a lot more success post-AVR. Vexing Devil will be an awesome 1-drop for a quick burn deck. Thunderous Wrath could probably be included as a one- or two-of. And Risky Bet and Reforge the Soul could keep your hand filled with burn.
So far this is the list im testing out atm, Sideboard is up in the air due to an unknown meta. Im thinking Ratchet Bomb's to fight off the tokens, and maybe some grave hate in the likes of Grafdiggers Cage.
So far i was able to beat a U/W control list with this barely. Game one was mind with an Aggressive noble start and a huge Shrine for the win. Game 2 was a hosing due to Sword of Feast and Famine and him sitting on counters. Game 3 was a tightly played one but he ended up top decking lands several turns in a row and the moment he got a token card i had Ratchet Bomb on the field waiting.
So this is what I'm thinking about now but I don't know if I'm too happy with it. I miss Brimstones, Incinerates, Arc-Trails, and I want to make use of Pillar of Flame but I hate Sorcery speed.
So this is what I'm thinking about now but I don't know if I'm too happy with it. I miss Brimstones, Incinerates, Arc-Trails, and I want to make use of Pillar of Flame but I hate Sorcery speed.
Hmmm your mana base is exactly like mind, if thats the case then like my deck getting to 5 mana is not common nor do i want to hit 5-6 plus mountains as my deck is tempo'ed to 1, 2, and 3 drops with only 4 three drops in the deck.
I think Thunderous Wrath is too expensive for what it does and too inconsistent. you more than likely will be Mulling your first hand if u had it in it as its a dead card for pretty much all the match. Same could be said about Bonfire of the Damned but it might be a meta call.
Now I haven't been playing mtg long, but Mono Red is the deck I've played the longest since M11. Chandra's Phoenix is more reliable than Berkserker. For Berserker, you almost want to mull so you can do your turn 1 Noble to turn 2 zerker combo. Not only that, I found that I can't drop zerker since I want to drop him with counters on him. Koth has been a savior, but I can be hard to get that emblem, but when you do, it's insta-scoop from your opponent.
Shrine has been my MVP in most games (you'd expect it to be Noble or Phoenix). Shrine puts a clock on your opponent. However, you have to be careful because they can destroy or O-ring it. Nothing is worse when your Shrine has 10 Counters and it gets removed.
Going back to Phoenix, it's consistent and More than half the time, my source of damage. So far only white decks that have spirits or angels can block it. Otherwise my attack goes through most of the time.
I almost beat a U/W Delver just this past weekend. I got him down to 3 life but I ran out of gas since the next 4 draws were lands. Which is a problem I found with this deck. Maybe it's just my shuffling, but my lands can be inconsistent, about half and half I get flooded or I get stuck with 3 lands.

How has the Vexing Devil been testing for you? I personally would count it as a burn spell, not a creature. Additionally I would fit at least 2 Grim Lavamancer's into this deck.
My only thorn is a W/x Token deck. Once Lingering Souls hits the board or an Honor of the Pure, I pretty much cringe and throw a temper tantrum to myself. Just can't seem to beat it, even with 8 hate cards in the SB.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it....
Thank you for the advice.
I am going to test Vexing Devil this weekend. I did play it a few times yesterday against U/W Delver though. Frankly, you have to get it early, otherwise, they will just mana leak it. You are right, it's best to count it as a burn spell. I haven't played many matches with it, and so far I haven't been able to drop it at turn 1.
I wish I can provide input on the W/x tokens matchup. In my area most people play U,B,W control variants. If I may ask, which hate cards are you using? I'm assuming slagstorm or whipflare or Ratchet Bomb?

another issue I just encountered.
Played a friendly on MTGO, player drops T3 Predator Ooze and T4 Dungroove Elder. Literally nowhere to run. What to do in that situation, may I ask?
I doesn't seem like a major issue, as it is the 1st time I have encountered it, but he did have a couple of enchantments that gave hexproof and something else maybe force me to attack? I was to busy laughing at my misfortunes to notice. All in all, a really rogue deck that I enjoyed playing against. If chandra was on the board it may have been different.

Remember to use proper deck tags. Explanation here.
When critiquing a deck, remember to make it clear which deck you are addressing, preferably by quoting the post with the decklist.

I would drop the Faithless Looting in favor of Incinerate for when punching the dome for 3 would win you the game.
