Btw Seppel, I didn't even check if I was your friend. My win condition has nothing to do with you, so I don't care whether I am or not. I don't really think my character believes in friendship though, so I'm probably not it.

It allows us to use power roles effectively.
I have always felt that a good day one mass claim the scum can't even go after the vig or the doc or the cop. Because then the doc should be randomizing one of the three of them to protect. I would not like to take a 1/3 chance of getting a night kill as a scum member and I doubt anyone else would either. And if you have a watcher it gets even better. Etc.
I have a few other reasons, for liking mass claims day one, mostly being the fact that after seeing one or two deaths and knowing what those town roles did/are, I can normally predict what roles should be on scum and town.
It's been a while and my Latin isn't great. Is he using his Latin grammar correctly, or is he simply transliterating each word and keeping English grammar?
Assuming he's using correct Latin grammar, the first sentence is something like: "Magic is annoying and it's good that it exists."
The second one would be something like: "If only I could post in English."
My Latin is super rusty though, so I welcome any help anyone can give.

Why am I not surprised that Void is already V/LA? Sorry if I'm not as exciting as usual, my other games need my attention for a bit, including the one I'm hosting.
As I said in the opening, I will be lenient with V/LA requests when they have good reason. "Wife hurt her back, bbl hospital" is more than a valid reason in my eyes.

I tried that first, but google translate bucked at me when I tried to feed it his sentences. It's doing nothing. I can only get single word translations, and Latin grammar + conjugations mean that single word translations still take a lot of puzzling out to put sentences together.

I always read you as town, and I also enjoy playing with you.
If I had to guess, I don't think there is a unifying theme amongst the scum; they are likely from several different flavor sources. I don't think mod-gaming will get us far here. When coupled with the inevitable concern regarding scum interference and the fact that we already know that there are at least two roles that are "looking" for one another, a Day One mass-claim seems like a losing proposition.

First, I find it unnerving that you are just willing to take Seppel's claim at full-face value for now. He could only be fishing if he were scum, so if he's lying, then he's already got the wool over your eyes. I'm not saying he is scum, but I'll be damned if I just believe everything I see in here.
Second, your point about scum confirming townies stands, although it's not exclusively a scum action and it does provide some usefulness to the town. I'd like to see Infinis respond here.
Um, no promises. If there's a LyLo situation, it's happening.
Also, quick question: Are you lying? Just be straight up with me here.
Why is it the most WIFOM inducing players always end up neutral?
I have always felt that a day one mass claim locks scum into claims they might not want to have.

Can you please show me a game where an early massclaim has been successful? A game that had an early massclaim that I've been in was Starcraft Mafia with a very easy win for scum.
It allows us to use power roles effectively.
What do you mean by "us"? Also, scum can influence power roles.
I have always felt that a good day one mass claim the scum can't even go after the vig or the doc or the cop. Because then the doc should be randomizing one of the three of them to protect. You're presenting to us a very simplified situation that would not take place in a specialty. First of all, the doc can't protect self. How do you know that there are vigs/docs/cops in this game? Besides, you could always just kill the doc and you have the next couple of nightkills set in stone.
I have a few other reasons, for liking mass claims day one, mostly being the fact that after seeing one or two deaths and knowing what those town roles did/are, I can normally predict what roles should be on scum and town.

Expect them in a few days, I can only remember one off the top of my head, and that was a game from like four years ago. We haven't done a lot of mass claims on this site, so the data is sparse at best.
Us meant town.
I have not been in a lot of games where the doc could not protect themselves. I mostly play specialty games though.
Ah... Europe has woken up.
The smiley annoys me. As in, it seems like an overstatement stemming from nervousness. Are you nervous, Void?
Are we going to have another smiley-case like we did in Starcraft? I can't locate the game it seems, but it would be interesting to check if the one accused because of smiley-use actually was scum. I don't remember anymore. Anyone remembers this?
Also, hi game! Europe misses RVS as usual.
Massclaim D1? I'm sceptical. The pattern has been that scum has modprovided falseclaims in a lot of games, and in that case massclaiming can only be bad. I don't find DV scummy for suggesting it though.

TheIceMan called Void out on it - Void was scum in that game. And oh look, someone is trying to call Void on it again.
Quote from Audinho »
@AsianInvasion: Do you have the same wincon as Seppel?
Although, now I have read a bit of Starcraft, I doubt scumVoid would slip up like this twice as scum.
I am quite certain I have seen townVoid do this before.
Also, I think I'm well-qualified to determine Void's alignment. His town and scum games are black and white - world of difference. This is town Void for sure.
Quote from Wessel »
Secondly, why did you use a different quote from Void? This was Void's post that TheIceMan voted him for:
Town points for you, good sir, for bothering to look at the source material to determine that and not just accepting it at face value.
Also, D_V, Hetalia was the most recent complex game that a Day 1 massclaim occurred in, I believe. I may be totally off-base with that, though. But you should remember - we were both in it.

Void was scum.
Yeah I'm not just buying that an emoticon is scumslip I am planning to throw the whole thing out the window. The day smilies become scumslips is the day I go back to talking in all LoLCats.
Also the way you explain it makes the entire incident sound like pure coincidence.
In Starcraft mafia, he had a "nervous" smiley in RVS. Was scum.
Here, he has a "nervous" smiley/exclamation mark. Could very well be scum.
Worth applying pressure to test it. The case is not strong by any means, but one has to start somewhere, right?
Btw I don't trust Iso one bit saying Void is town, he's been scum in far to many of my recent games. (Iso that is.)

Nah, I don't think that argument follows. An emoticon is practically nothing! If the wording of the post had contributed to your read, sure, but just an emoticon? No. That isn't even worth anything as a jumping off point.
Also, your statement on Iso is clearly not logical, unless you're suggesting that the mod didn't randomize alignments.

I see it more as just because it is true that doesn't imply causality.
It's the old problem that just because something seems to be true doesn't make it true. Here's a thought problem that I think parallels this discussion:
1. All life on Earth needs water to live.
2. Therefore all life in the universe needs water to live.
We have something that causally seems to be true and causal at first glance, but when you look at it and think about it there is not enough info to make an informed decision or imply causality.

Megiddo currently has a random stage vote on Prophy, meaning he still has his vote. The fact he just FoSed Aud is bad and seems like he doesn't want to be connected with an attack on aud.
Also, your statement on Iso is clearly not logical, unless you're suggesting that the mod didn't randomize alignments.
I have trust issues with Iso because he's been scum in so many of my games. It's purely personal.
As for randomisation of alignments that's a whole other discussion which I don't want to bring up, but personally I believe that mods randomize several times if they end up with scumteams without any experience in them. Reason I don't want to bring this up is because it's not proveable and probably not even correct, it just feels that way since I feel that I've been shafted in random distributions a lot (i.e. Mod: "This game is LOADED with power-roles" PM: "You are vanilla town"). This is however completely unrelated and should be ignored.
I see it more as just because it is true that doesn't imply causality.

While it doesn't have to be true, that doesn't mean that it necessarily is false. It served it's purpose of bringing us clearly out of RVS at least. My vote stands, on the off chance that there's actually something in this. Time will tell. This is not a case of "obvscum Void is totally todays lynch", it's a case of "that's the scummiest I've seen in this game so far".

Fair enough, but like you said we don't have enough info to decide if it is true or not.
What does Iso being scum in other games have to do with you not trusting Iso now? What tips you off about his alignment in this game?
I got no idea what alignment Iso has. I just don't feel like trusting him since I can't really read him at all. Seppel usually reads Iso good though, so I'll trust his judgment on him when there has been more content added to the thread (case in point: Star Trek where Seppel & Artifice caught scum-Iso day one rather easily). This means that a Seppel/Iso scumteam would screw me over royally, but that's a chance I'm willing to take.

Well, it's clearly WIFOM. Just because Void did this in his last game as scum does not mean that he is scum in this game.
Here you go:
I'm town, tordeck! Are you?
Hey guys wait what if Seppel is a Hitman
Oh well not gonna worry about it Day 1.
@D_V: No massclaim. It is implied that a massclaim will likely hurt the town, if I read correctly.
How do you figure?
I can't tell if you're town or scum yet, but keep posting and I'm sure I'll figure it out.
Are you a gimmick of TheIceMan or Toastboy, bychance?
While AI has strongly implied that he is Seppel's friend, I haven't seen him directly confirm it.
Seppel, can you win if you identify your friend after they die?
How do you know the Doc can't self-protect? It IS a Specialty, after all.
Overall, I dislike this entire post from Proph.
Vote Prophylaxis
TheIceMan called Void out on it - Void was scum in that game. And oh look, someone is trying to call Void on it again.
Don't fish. We don't need to know that.
Well never mind then.
But he's not scum in this game. Cut that out.
I am quite certain I have seen townVoid do this before.
Also, I think I'm well-qualified to determine Void's alignment. His town and scum games are black and white - world of difference. This is town Void for sure.

Nah.
Probably not.
Why?
What is your opinion on AI?
Explain, in your own words, why Void is scum.

This is how the discussion went in Starcraft as well. That's why Void was never lynched, he slithered out of suspicion because TheIceMans case was seen as "lol smiley-slip no way".

Also, your statement on Iso is clearly not logical, unless you're suggesting that the mod didn't randomize alignments.
FOS Audinho
I see it more as just because it is true that doesn't imply causality.
It's the old problem that just because something seems to be true doesn't make it true. Here's a thought problem that I think parallels this discussion:
1. All life on Earth needs water to live.
2. Therefore all life in the universe needs water to live.
We have something that causally seems to be true and causal at first glance, but when you look at it and think about it there is not enough info to make an informed decision or imply causality.
They hate us cause they ain't us.
Vote Void because anything that deals with Starcraft Mafia is worthy of lynching.
Unvote
Vote Megiddo
Megiddo currently has a random stage vote on Prophy, meaning he still has his vote. The fact he just FoSed Aud is bad and seems like he doesn't want to be connected with an attack on aud.

This whole game is pretty much centered on discussing info we do not know is true or not
