Extension icons can't be animated. Here are Google's icon guidelines.
I got gradual colorization of the point tracker done. Looks pretty cool.
Just got in marking users as replacements or dead. Features should now cover a good number of things a player would want to track. Hopefully I can get a release out soon.
Scumdar 1.0 has been released!. It still needs a better, more distinctive icon. Let me know if you find any bugs or have any ideas for future features.

I just added it. One possible I noticed is that you have to scroll down and then back up to star a game.
In the meantime, I won't full test drive it until the clan game gets underway because I'm too lazy to retroactively use it in my other games.

I just put out 1.1 which has some added functionality. I highly suggest updating to that before using Scumdar full time. The data model changed slightly in 1.1; the update doesn't break anything but the info popup will be missing some stuff.
Hmm. I'll brainstorm some ideas to deal with this.

I like that you can tag people as town, mafia, mod, but can we get the following categories as well:
Neutral
Serial Killer
Cult
Hitman
Unique (Catch all group for unique groups)
Also it is very cool.
Edit: Also would it be possible to put a small text box under the dropdown tag box so we can put in people's roles like cop or one-shot vig or Ghandi or something like that.
Nis, absolutely awesome job with the Scumdar extension! Just gave it a quick test drive, and now I'm sad that I'm in a mafia hiatus. Can't wait to try it out in a game environment!

Do you have a list of what the extension can do? I know it can star games, put plusses and minuses, and take notes, but are there any "hidden" things it can do?

Star games
Star posts

Plus/minus users
Mark users as town, scum, neutral, sk, cult, other
Mark users as dead or alive
Mark users as replaced and by who
There's nothing hidden. The extension doesn't request cross-domain request permissions and store everything locally so all your data stays locally on your own machine and is not visible to anyone else.
Is there a version that doesn't require Google Chrome?
Not yet. It's something I'd like to do like I did with Scry, but Firefox extension development is a little more involved. If somebody would like to take up the mantle for a Firefox version I'm happy to walk through the current functionality and give guidance on how to adapt it for Firefox. Basically my time is a little limited so I'm going to focus on Chrome for now. I will say that a Firefox version would be somewhat easier than the Firefox version of Scry; not having to make cross-domain requests simplifies things greatly.
I would have to say I would greatly appreciate a firefox version as that is currently my main browser (and the one I like best). Plus having a browser for just mafia feels a little weird.
Firefox version is in the works. Basic functionality is done. Still have some CSS issues to work out and the info panel to do, but it's kinda working now.
I will say the ad banner at the top of the page really screws with the Addon-SDK.
So I'm using Mozilla's Add-on SDK to port the Chrome extension over to Firefox. It's the same thing I used with Scry so I'm comfortable with it. I don't think it's as good as the built-in Chrome extension capabilities, but it does offer almost feature level parity and the concepts are pretty similar.
The big problem I ran into today was that the ad banner is treated as a totally separate connection to the extension. Worse yet, that connection share some of the same page scope as the actual webpage. What was basically happening was that the forum page would load, contact the extension to say, "Give me the game with id 1234." Almost immediately afterwards the ad banner would say, "Hey, I can't find anything saying this is a game so give me a list of all the games." The problem was that both the page and the ad banner are sharing the same Javascript context. The game that the page asked for was immediately erased by the ad banner so when the page went to try and attach all the cool stuff it no longer had the game information. Things crashed a burned.
Furthermore, whenever you do something with the extension, i.e mark a user as town, add a note to a post, etc., the page's content script calls back to the backend and says, "Save this game!" Well, the ad banner is seeing that same event and calling back to the backend saying, "Save this game!" but not actually giving the backend a game to save. That didn't cause any games to be saved over, but it did cause the backend to choke a bit.
So I've put in some checks in the Firefox backend to handle the ad banner's stupid behavior. I can't really detect when a connection or message is coming from the ad banner, but I can at least recognize when things aren't really from the content script. The ad banner can derp along aping the content script all it wants and the backend now says, "This must be from stupid," and drop that instruction.
What's really interesting is that the same behavior has affected Scry on Firefox all this time and I haven't even noticed. Scry doesn't actually ask the backend page for stored information so even if the ad banner says, "Yo backend! Go fetch the magiccards.info page for Fog," it doesn't break anything. I do wonder if Hannes has been seeing lots of duplicate requests for a card page together; if so that's the ad banner being stupid with Scry.
There's nothing I can do to stop the ad banner from being stupid. The backend can't detect who has connected (unlike in Chrome where you really can) so the best it can do is try to figure out when a connection might be pointless. It will still serve every connection but it will try to give the stupid ones a shiny object if it can.
Because of this I need to test things a little more in Firefox before I can release Scumdar for it. I won't get to it this weekend, but hopefully early next week I'll get things all together. Because of Mozilla's slow review process the release probably won't show up in the official directory for at least a couple weeks. I'll be able to post a direct link so you all will still be able to install it. I also don't plan on doing a Firefox release for every version; I'll let a few new features (if any get done) roll out on Chrome and get tested before doing a larger release on Firefox. It's annoying that every release, no matter how minor of a change, needs to have an actual person comb through the source. I've had Scry releases for Firefox lag almost a month behind the Chrome release. That's just annoying.
The source will be available on github once I get everything working. If somebody wants to start hacking away at it be my guest. I'll be glad to give guidance on what is doing what.

As crazy as this sounds, I've always wanted to play with a "silly post restriction" ever since I found out it was a type of role. I'd be interested.
I love silly post restrictions. S.P.R. would make me more likely to join a game in fact. Just no MMM or emoticon only ones because those stop being fun for anyone fairly quickly.
Yeah, wasn't gonna use either of those. :3 The game is gonna be fairly noncomplex as far as roles go. The main thing will be the flavor (tba after I gauge interest) and the post restrictions.

What a great idea! I should put that role in ALL of my games so that EVERYONE can have the Gimmick Torment role!
I saw a game on MafiaScum a year or so ago where everyone swapped PRs each day (including dead players PRs). If it fits, it'd be a fun mechanic to add to it.

@Shalako: I think it stops being fun when it hinders the player from communicating efficiently. PRs should be mostly fun but also challenging. Tordeck's in TF2 was a bit too hindering IMO. Anything that requires every player in the game to open a translator of some sort is also relatively annoying.

If one were inclined to write a setup featuring roles that are normally not seen in games due to various reasons, which roles would you expect to see in said game? Please note, this is not a bastard mod setup. I would most likely post the list of possible included roles in the OP.

Check out Smalltown Animaniacs for different/interesting roles. There's a link to it in my blog. The Star Trek Myriad Universes in my blog had some interesting roles as well.

Usually roles that aren't normally seen have a reason to be like that: they are bad roles.
But if you are asking for uncommon or new roles I remember a list on gigarage's signature that was pretty interesting, also read Seasons and World of warcraft from zindabad for lots of cool roles.

The game is not being dumbed down. Control is doing fine; Draw-Go is not the only kind of control. Aggro is doing fine; Red Deck Wins is not the only kind of aggro. Creature combat is an important core concept and belongs in every color. Mythic rarity is not destroying the game. People whine too much for no good reason. Magic is more popular than ever, so keep calm, brew some decks and play some damn cards.
Here is a question. If you were TOLD that a Jester may be in the setup, would that make it more acceptable as a possible role? (For the record, I will never put a Jester in my setups without telling all the players that there IS a Jester present.) I'm also a big fan of starting with a night 0 and restricting it to non-killing roles or compensating in some way for allowing players to die before the first day.
I'm mainly asking because I know Jesters are a hot button topic and I like seeing actual discussion about supposedly "bad" roles.
I mean is insane cop a bad role or just misunderstood? How about paranoid? Naive?
I have been wondering what people think of bastard games. Obviously we rarely do them, but are they the kind of thing that people would want to play once in a while?

[Mafia Stats] Mafia MVP: 1/3 Basic #29,Co-[CCMV]
I saw a game on MafiaScum a year or so ago where everyone swapped PRs each day (including dead players PRs). If it fits, it'd be a fun mechanic to add to it.

The key portion would have to be true for me to appreciate it, but yes, absolutely. I love silly PRs.

Check out Smalltown Animaniacs for different/interesting roles. There's a link to it in my blog. The Star Trek Myriad Universes in my blog had some interesting roles as well.
But if you are asking for uncommon or new roles I remember a list on gigarage's signature that was pretty interesting, also read Seasons and World of warcraft from zindabad for lots of cool roles.
Mythic rarity is not destroying the game. People whine too much for no good reason. Magic is more popular than ever, so keep calm, brew some decks and play some damn cards.
Bastard is not telling the players that if they mislynch on day 1 they could auto-lose.
Challenging is telling them that 1 player WANTS to be lynched day 1 and making that player earn it.
