Avacyn Restored, the commons are really god awful but you have Tamiyo, Griselbrand, Bonfire, Cavern of Souls, Restoration Angel, and some other stuff.
Avacyn Restored has incredibly low EV right now, the money cards in the set are either tanking (Tamiyo, Temporal Mastery, Cavern of Souls) or are more or less stable at their current prices (Bonfire, Restoration Angel, Entreat). The remainder of the set is complete junk, with only a handful of rares being worth more than bulk.

While this is true, compared to other current standard legal sets, AVR is head and shoulder above in terms of value. Over half of the mythics are above $5 and there are many rares over $3.
AV and M13 are the two sets currently worth enough to consider opening booster boxes for the singles inside, according to the sources I check for box value. Both somewhere around $110 at the moment.
(Not because they're exceptional sets, only because they haven't lost all their value yet as they're relatively new.)
Well, its time for an update. As always values are determined from the lowest ebay buy it nows with an emphasis on playset/4, and on the lower end of tcgplayer (usually tend towards ebay though).
Top rares/mythics:
Snapcaster Mage: $18
Geist of Saint Traft: $17
Liliana of the Veil: $17
Isolated Chapel: $8
Garruk Relentless: $7.50
Clifftop Retreat: $5.50
Hinterland Harbor: $5.50
Sulfur Falls: $5
Woodland Cemetery: $4
Bloodline Keeper: $4
Champion of the Parish: $4
Olivia Voldaren: $3.50
Stromkirk Noble: $2.50
Mikaeus the Lunarch: $2
Gavony Township: $1.50
Angelic Overseer: $1.50
Army of the Damned: $1.50
Everything else is $1 or less.
Total value of mythics: $53
Total value of rares: $71
Total value of uncommon/common set: $5
Total complete set value: $129
Overall average box value:
Mythics: $3.31/mythic x 5 mythics/box = $16.50
Rares: $1.20/rare x 35 rares/box = $42.10
Uncommon/common set: $5/set x 1.8 sets/box = $9
Foils: $3.40
Total average box value: $71
Overall while a few things have dropped as one would expect, several others, including the duals, and liliana (which has recovered slightly from its bottom), have been slowly rising in value. Snapcaster is of course still snapcaster and is ultra-stable these days. Honestly I was sort of expecting the box value to be a little lower than it was, but the above mentioned rares and couple of mythics helped to prop it up enough to stay above the $70 mark. Post rotation and as RTR spoilers continue to drop, should have an interesting affect on this set, but Ill leave speculation for elsewhere for now :). Enjoy the update.
Pick up your Sulfur Falls now. The cards revealed for the Izzet Guild in RTR seems really good.
Absolutely. Sulfur Falls could be had for $5-$6 now on eBay. If Izzet turns out to be a real thing (have you seen Izzet Charm?) These could easily go the way of Seachrome Coast especially with shocklands coming in this fall.
2 playable red and blue spells, and you guys think Izzet will be the best guild in RTR? You've only seen 5 cards in the entire set! What makes you think Sulfur Falls is going to outperform the other dual land combinations? There will be 10 tribes, with equal numbers of cards in each.

It's also on the low end of lands now and lands historically do better the further they are from print. That doesn't mean that Izzet in particular will do better than others, but that lands in general should be invested in because people always forget that they go up.

I don't think they'll be worth $20 like Seachromes were, since it seems like more Innistrad was opened/redeemed than SOM. But they'll almost surely double in price.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
U/R is probably the most popular enemy color combination and Sulfur falls is one of the Cheaper Innistrad duals? This paradox will quickly correct itself as Sulfur Falls will have the biggest gain compared to all of the other Innistrad duals.
Also, U/R Delver will replace U/W Delver after RTR as Pillar of flames will be the best target for Snapcastor.
If they do make Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind a Planeswalker, there is no doubt that Izzet will be one of the more popular guilds. I believe that it will continue to rise in popularity otherwise as well, being that Red will gain more power (based on power level equilibrium, which appears to me for Red, it has been one of the weaker colors but this statement may not be very cogent). Red is also the perfect color combo alongside Delver of Secrets and I think it will be a great deck. Somewhat of a "second hand" impact- Sneak Show decks influencing the desirability to make Red/Blue decks in Standard?
I just can't see them making Niv a PW. Besides Gideon definately looks to be Boros, so 2 */R PW in the same set? I don't think they'd do that... would they?
Nothing in this game is degenerate or completely dominant. They haven't banned anything in standard in a long, long time. Hell they should have banned affinity right away, but they didn't until boxed sales collapsed too. Hasbro had to come in and fire people.
I'll enjoy watching all the whiners eat crow monday.
Sulfur Falls has already began to go up in price, for that I just ordered a playset of foil Sulfur Falls - I'm thinking the card will continue to rise...
Just a quick update. Snapcaster is up to $21 and Geist of Saint Traft is now approx $20 each shipped if going by the lowest NM+ buy it nows on ebay (playsets), so $80 for a playset. And Sulfur falls is now over $6 per when looking at the same. Will post a full update soon :).
(Key: The card's most recent move is on the right. This indicates the hottest mover of the update. indicates no movement. is a card that wasn't on the list last update. Data is from here.)
Still a pretty short list, but overall I think the set has gone up in value. The dual lands have doubled in the past few weeks, for one thing. The set isn't being printed anymore (as far as I'm aware), so that helps too. And certain cards like the Vampires are in style again, helping the set even more. Snapcaster took the lead at 21, Geist at 20, Lili at 19, and Garruk and the rest are $9 and below.
i'm curious, will snapcaster ever hit $30? I understand that its used in multiple formats but the price seems to shackle it from rising (which is a good thing) but I have several i'm holding on to and I have no need for them but want to know when to let them go for the best price

I doubt we will see $30 with it being from a widely openned set, and it being a normal rare. It will probably stay within a $15-$25 range while in standard, and then drop down to $10-$15 after it rotates, and then slowly rise over time after that.

I'd wait till the spring, snappy is probably at it's low point right now. The only real risk with waiting is if he gets printed in one of those tournament decks like stoneforger did.
A 40 dollar mythic rare would constitute a must have 4 of that goes in many decks.
Stats About Mythics
-Mythics are on average 40% rarer than pre-mythic rares
(old blocks about 200 rares, Mythic blocks 35+ mythics)
-They are printing more new cards a year not less
(about 665 now vs. 630 in most pre-mythic block)
-To drop the value of a rare by $1 a mythic must go up $2
-In a 3 year time span deck prices doubled. I am petitioning for the removal of mythic rarity. Sig this to join the cause.

That's probably true, but something crazy would have to happen for it to get back into the $30 range. Innistrad was drafted heavily both IRL and on MTGO, and I suspect there are still plenty of MTGO sets waiting to be redeemed.
As far as a reprint goes, I think it's unlikely. It wasn't in that Burning Vengeance deck, which was literally the perfect home for it.

I think he has the potential to hit 30, but not for a long time. It won't be while he's in standard, instead it will be years after rotation and only if he doesn't see a reprint which is questionable.

I never understood the whole MTGO redeem flooding the market thing. From what I understand, places like MtGOtraders use their stock to fulfill these requests, so its not like WotC is putting more into the market from their production. The same amount is out there, but Its more like the people who target cards this way get their playset/copy and demand is filled for the time being. Please correct me if I'm wrong though, I'd like to understand it better.

This sentence seems to contradict itself...
Also, Izzet was the least popular enemy colour combination last time, wasn't it? Or was Orzhov hated more?
If Pillar of Flames becomes the best target for Snapcaster, I don't see U/R Delver being anything at all.
