I think I will absolutely play this in Limited. If the game stalls out, which certainly does happen, then you need a late-game plan and this is a good one. I don't think I will be taking it especially high, but I will take it.
And if you're playing a slower deck like Orzhov or a ramp-ish deck like Gruul, it's likely worth splashing a 3rd color for.

I preordered 4 at $5 apiece, and a foil for $10.
Shaman was *not* properly valued at the release of RtR.
Well it was not cheap even on the start, but also because it was not clear were to put it ; sure good mana, but also unreliable, which means you have to adept decks to more fetchlands and all that.
Might easily be overrated right now, but its a totally good card, it just gets better if "everyone" plays tons of fetchlands and kind of counters other shamans, which is like Tarmagoyf, which counter each other aswell.
I wonder if this would have been overpowered with hybrid mana.... It would have made SUCH a better control card. I doubt it would've been constructed playable anyway but it won't stop me from trying to have fun with this in 4c control. Hit their fliers and tramplers with your spot removal and this thing gives you unlimited chumps for the rest of the game and even a wincon if they can't answer it. It's a faster clock than drown yard at the expense of being easier to remove (if this tests well, enchantment hate will make a big comeback plus golgari charm is still a card).
My overall rating is that this will be a fun card and could potentially be a control element but its just not strong enough on its own.
Well, I just finally registered and all to make a comment about very casual magic. I am definitely going to make a standard enchantment deck that runs this with...descent into madness. Fuah ha ha! I just need to cast descent after this card and I can slowly start up an army of 1/1s while my opponents exile everything. I've come up with a partial decklist and it's truly terrible, but it's not meant to compete. It runs sphere of safety, oring, dsphere, martial law, and pacifism to try to stem any attacks my opponents might have. Other enchantments are abundant growth for mana fixing and cantripability, and mana bloom for more mana fixing and really REALLY bad mana 'acceleration'. Negates will keep my key enchantments safe, and farseek will grab and fix lands. If I can get this to actually work a bit, I may end up taking 5 color enchantments to a FNM or something. Here's hoping they print another enchantment or two that works in this clunky contraption.

I don't deny that it was undervalued by the market as a whole, but a loooot of people knew that it was a great card and were talking about it (it had "buzz"), and the price adjusted fairly quickly. I picked up 5 of them around release for $7 because I knew they were a multi-format staple like Noble Hierarch was, and I think lots of other people expected the same.
MoStinky- During your Upkeep (on your turn, after your Untap, Before your Draw). You put a 1/1 Red and White Soldier Token into play for each turn you have had Assemble the Legion in play. You keep track of how many of these you get with "Muster" counters. These soldiers have Haste so that you can attack with them the turn they come in. So for example if you had Assemble out for 4 turns, you will have 3 muster counters and put 3 Soldiers tokens into play.
In the example listed above, assuming no tokens have died, you should have out 6 Soldiers, none on the turn you cast it, 1 on the following turn, 2 on turn 3 and the 3 on turn 4 - giving you a total of 6.
