After having read your thread, regardless of the strategy, it does not seem like a thread for the competitive subforum. The discussion of strategy is minimal, you admit to it being mostly opinion. Competitive is supposed to be based on testing first, opinion/theorycrafting second--especially if you are going against established strategies in a definitive tone.
This doesn't have anything to do with any thread I made, its referring to comments made in the R/g Sligh thread that were then commented on by here.
I forgot to thank all the people that DID post in the Gruul thread as well as here, trying to help them out.
And Khaos if I came off as telling you what to do and where to do it, I'm sorry, that wasn't my intention either. I'm as freedom loving as anyone else. I'm glad the MAIN point got across which is, yes, tell me the next time you think I'm an idiot.
That's really all I was asking in my own way. I want to get better so I'd appreciate it if I was told to my face next time I am wrong, like I was wrong in this thread. Its not my place to judge where you vent or how or about what.
I can get behind this.
If I think that you, specifically, are being an idiot I will tell you. This I promise.
However, this morning I was griping. I tend to gripe about random stuff. Sometimes it's justified, sometimes not. That's not the point though. The point is, the FoS Clan is my haven (and I think I speak for everybody else) to come and talk/gripe/rant/brag/admit/ about anything and everything. My gripe this morning was pretty generic because I was referring to the thread as a whole. I didn't want to target anybody specifically. I guess, at the core of it, the R/x forum isn't what it used to be. Maybe the Fire has been spread out of control - either through some people's actions...or inactions (myself included).
But now I'm rambling....
In the future though, its probably not the best idea to wander into a den of thieves and brigands such as ourselves and judge us on our choice of fancy hats, dick jokes, or "in the moment" gripes.
edit: I guess I did target specifically. But I picked a lot of comments....
Well, now that all the water's under the bridge, did I pass my Trial by Fire?
I'd like to join the FoS, even more now that I got a direct taste of the enviroment in here. I'm also glad to hear there's no bull**** filter or banhappy mods in this thread, and I wouldn't be able to resist such a place even if I tried.
What attracted me here
The great threads written by you guys, especially the musings and philosophy threads. The fact that Redthirst appreciates Firefly. The fact that Khaos drinks when he plays and plays better because of it.
Basically all those little things that shoves your gut in one direction, that I'd probably like it here.
Who I am
Nobody, really. I'm not any good with graphic design so I won't have an awesome sig for you all. I'm not good enough at magic yet to give any advice to any of you.
That's why I want to get better. I want to win more, and be good and magic. I've always been competitive, with every game I played.
I used to play magic when I was a teenager back in the Kamigawa block. I found it again now almost a decade later. Some friends got me into and we played a Return to Ravnica draft.
Remembering some basics about card quality, efficiency and whatever, I drafted a Golgari deck that was pretty good (2 Stab wounds were passed to me). I played a few games. Got dicked by an Azorious splash Green deck (and thus my hatred for all things white/blue began), beat another friend who was even worse at magic than me, and faced my final friend (another red mage just like me).
He was playing Rakdos. He won in a good 3-4 turns both games. Explosive impacts. BOOM.
I sat there unsure of how I'd lost so quick, what had even happened.
Then I said.
"I want that deck."
I wanted him to show me more. He showed me his Monored deck. I fell in love with Ash Zealots, Vexing Devils (IVE SEEN THE LIGHT DONT WORRY), Hellriders, etc. All the abilities and cards just made me scream I WANT TO PLAY RED.
I went out and got the Rakdos Event deck. I went back home and wrecked everyone's face with it, even my Monored friend. I felt unstoppable.
Then I faced my other friends homebrew R/g werewolves deck. He ranger's guiled all my burn and then complete overran me.
So now I'm into magic pretty solidly.
Then Gatecrash spoilers come out, and I love the Gruul guild. I literally have a 3v3 Team on league of legends called SMASH KILL SMASH before I knew of the Gruul, so it had to be Fate.
I played in Grand Prix Charlotte, learning a lot of lessons. Now I've come here to improve and found some advice that really settles with me.
If we can deal with TauronNox's avatar, yours won't be a problem :). If you're feeling self conscious about it, just increase the delay between frame repeats so it flashes less.
I am the sad
I mean, you could at least dick slap a brotha first.....

New Guy: Y'all a bunch of blue mage *****es!
FoS: Yeah? Suck on it.
New Guy: Haha jk! Can I join?
Fos: Yeah. Suck on it.
I forgot about that blue mage comment.
To the lions with him!
Seriously, though. The only thing he's really guilty of is getting pissy over us directing our clan surliness in his general direction. No major fouls, really. He's a red mage willing to learn and make friends. I think a probationary period may be in order, otherwise though, I don't see why we cannot extend the olive branch.
This is a good place to learn, and if the Council decides to have you (it usually isn't this hard, but well, you did start **** in the thread ) I'm for it. Kaze's suggestion of the probationary period seems like a good one.

Yeah. Tier 1 is the probationary membership level, we've had people who joined up with a single post and haven't done anything since. They'll eventually be pruned, but they'll stay in tier 1 until they become regulars in the clan thread.
He's at least got the snark to fit in here. But can he take the snark in here?
And while I can appreciate the zeal of the newly converted, just relax a bit. Read through the clan thread to get an idea of what's going on before you criticize us. As others have pointed out, this is our little space of the forum to vent about life, tell dick jokes to let off some pressure, and just hang out with like-minded people. This is our escape, and if you want the keys to the clubhouse, then show us that you deserve it.
These guys are my friends, online and in person. You want to be part of that, then earn it.

The world is on fire
and you are here to stay and burn with me.
Perhaps we should do a primer on FoS style posting.
Posts worthy of FoS shall contain no less than three of the following, preferably more:
- References to masturbation, and the cessation thereof. A count of the number of days since commencement of said cessation is worth bonus points.
- References to Firefly. Spoilers are frowned upon.
- Complaints about Vexing Devil, and the proponents of said card, who insist it is the greatest expenditure of red mana since Lightning Bolt.
- Off hand reference to male genitalia. ANY reference to male genitalia will suffice.
- Dick fencing, while a reference to male genitalia, is entirely in its own category, and may be used alongside general references to get your quota of three per post.
- Telling redthirst he's pretty. (He isn't, but he likes hearing that he is.)
- Any well thought out, documented, and supported argument for a given card/neat trick in MtG. "Because it's working super well at my backwater LGS's FNM" is not appropriate support.
Man, I'll be in trouble if that is the required standard! I mostly just post personal problems alternating with bragposts (the hallmarks of any well adjusted individual).

The transition into the clan wasn't a hard one though.
I think one would be hard pressed to find a group of friends on-line or in real life who don't vent about drama, talk freely about others, or make ***** related remarks or jokes once in a while. I mean, the current joke in our group revolves around numerous uses of the words, Girth, veiny, throbbing, glistening, and moist due to the inherent imagery. It makes for some very humorous moments especially when the girls in our play group just lose it after enough of the words are said especially when reference to the games being played.
