THE PLANE OF NAZURA

The plane of Nazura is as mysterious as it is large. Being one of the largest planes in existence, it offers plenty of space for magic to grow, expand, and become. Among the vast savannas, thick jungles, tropical isles, plateaus, deserts, and marshlands live many species of creatures. Nauara is said to contain the Heartlands; the area of the world where the plane began existence. It is mapped in the constellations of the sky, and all who inhabit Nazura know of its lore. Beneath the great stars in the sky, the land is the most important features of Nazura. He who controls land has power.
TRIBES OF NAZURA

Although many species inhabit Nazura, there are six main sentient species that rule the plane. The most common folk of Nazura are humans, who inhabit all parts of the land, and embody all colors of magic. Humans often live in their own villages, however when neighboring the other tribes, they sometimes befriend them and live in communities. Humans are as diverse in personality as they are in colors, however. There are many different establishments of humans; villages, cultures, and tribes. They all have their own ideas on Nazura and the Heartlands.
Hailing from the Great Savanna; forests and plains, come the Antelope folk known as the Gazal. The Gazal are herbivorous mammalian creatures who live in large communities along the plains and forest edges. They are typically peaceful, and spend much of their time farming. They utilize both green and white mana; wielding it for many purposes including defending their tribe, strengthening their troops, growing their crops, or expanding their knowledge on the Heartlands. The Gazal fair well with Humans, and they are commonly seen working together in cities and villages among the Savanna.
Among the coastal isles and marshlands live the Mandran, an amphibious race of salamander-like humanoids that specialize in blue and black magic. Despite being related to the lesser newts, salamanders, toads, and frogs, the Mandran are highly intelligent and efficient creatures. They possess a complex combination of lungs and gills, allowing them to survive on both land and water; fresh or salt water. Despite this, many Mandran still prefer to live beside bodies of water to relax and learn from the magic available, along with the omnivorous choices of food available. The Mandran wield black and blue magic to manipulate and control their surroundings. Instead of direct violence and combat, most Mandran enjoy stealthy assaults and rogue's guile, relying on illusion and poison to defeat their foes. Mandran love studying the minds of others, and often invade their dreams to steal secrets and gain knowledge. Although some humans live peacefully among the Mandran tribes scattered across the marshlands, mangroves, and isles, many fear the Mandran due to their mysterious lore of being able to control one's mind and body. Some humans are slaves to Mandran wizards, and carry out their bidding. However, those who are ambitious enough to seek the wisdom of the Mandran often return wielding powerful magic and knowledge.
Perhaps the most feared tribe of Nazura, the Kakalar, or more commonly known as Gnoll, are humanoid hyenas that rule over the badlands, deserts, ridges, and bogs. The Kakalar are the most aggressive of all of the tribes, and are the least liked. They live in dens and small clan villages, often built from the large bones and hides of dead saurians. They are feared for their ferocity and maniacal behavior. The Gnoll are primarily carnivorous, but feed on almost everything, including the other tribes of Nazura. Gnoll often raid other villages, clans, and sometimes even cities in search of loot. Despite their chaotic behavior, the Kakalar aren't stupid. They are ambitious and passionate. Although most of the Kakalar are dangerous, there are a handful of tribes and individuals that interact with the other sentient beings of Nazura. Mind the fact that if you hear the dreadful cackling laugher in the night, know that the majority are not friendly.
Soaring along the coasts and high above the plains are the bird people known as the Fethra. The Fethra, or Aven, are wise and loyal creatures that live in large "Nests" along coastal ridges. Although nest is just their term for homes, the communities of Fethra often expand into large villages and cities. All Fethra adults can fly; their bones are hollow but sturdy, allowing them to take flight with their wings along their back. The Fethra are the most lawful and orderly of all the tribes, often forming integrated rules for their homes. Humans enjoy the Fethra, and vice versa, for both get along well in large communities. Using blue and white magic, the Fethra learn the ways of the sea and sky; often becoming tempests and wise seers, predicting weather, and even summoning it. The Fethra make excellent wizards, and are often valiant in combat as well.
Living among the woodlands and foothills are the Thwar, the saurian-descendants also known as viashino. Large, powerful, and reptilian, the Thwar are often feared for their brute strength alone. Most Thwar clans dislike the other tribes, often destroying them for entering their territory, although some enjoy the company of others in order to learn and trade. Many Thwar are excellent warriors, seeing as how strength comes natural to them. Yet many Thwar also specialize in druidic magic and shamanism. They cherish nature, value growth, and take it hand in hand with wild warfare. Being Viashino, the Thwar think they are the ultimate saurian race.
Among the sentient species of Nazura, there are many other creatures that live in harmony; or turmoil, in the Heartlands. The saurian creatures, giant lizard beasts resembling what we know as dinosaurs, are abundant. Ranging from a foot long and tall, to towering monstrosities, the saurian race is as diverse as it is strong. Ferrosaurs, imperiorsaurs, raptors, pterosaurs, and titanosaurs are among the most fabled, but their are many in between. Other species inhabit Nazura as well. Nazura is home to many great beasts, including Rhinoceros, Elephants, Apes, Snakes, Cats, Fish, and insects. There are also fabled creatures that live in Nazura; beings that are far more deadly and legendary than the common creatures. Kraken, serpents, dragons, hellion, wurms, hydra, basilisk, oozes, and others roam the landscape.
In addition to the "Natural" beings of Nazura, there are also numerous other beings. Spirits of the living help guide their tribes through advice and knowledge in the stars. Among the unnatural forces, the elementals are among the most interesting. They are beings made of pure magic; often resembling natural phenomena, animals, or a combination of both. They are loved, feared, and respected by all tribes of Nazura. Many elementals are strange; and those who are curious seek them in order to learn. Many believe that the elementals are from the stars; the heartlands, and even when they pass away, their essence returns to be born anew.
ABILITIES AND MECHANICS
Landfall will make a return for my custom set. Lands play a big role in the world of Nazura.
Another mechanic I have created is Reclaim. Reclaim is a mechanic that lets you collect your card back from your graveyard. The effect reads as this:

Pack Raptor: This chains with each other Pack Raptor put into play from library. It it supposed to? In draft this is pretty crazy if you ask me. Looks pretty damn good as it is (also in constructed - at least potentially). I would suggest uncommon rarity... I like it though
Thanks for the thoughts! Okay, so let me see if I can sway you with any of my words. Master Illusionist is abusive, and I will fix it so it cannot target itself. Aside from that, I think it will be fine. Sure it will be strong, but at the same time it's got it's weaknesses.
Whirlwind Pterasaur is also absuive, and I have been thinking of ways to make it less abusive. I considered changing it to this instead, which is also strong, but doesn't allow for as many shenanigans:

Shared Triumph is good, yes, but at the same time it only works with decks that play white. Since I have a creature type for each allied color pair (Among other various creature types that work well together) I wanted something that could be used in any color.
Pack Raptor is meant to be a really powerful common. Lightning Bolt can dish out 3 damage at instant speed in one powerful swing. Pack Raptor is supposed to be the more deadly Raging Goblin of this world, where as you can potentially net out more raptors. After all, they are pack hunters. I agree that this is a powerful card in draft, and I was actually considering making a "mechanic" for the Saurians, where it looks something like this:
-- Whenever a creature dealt damage by this creature dies or when this creature deals combat damage to a player, you may look at the top X cards of your library until you reveal a creature that shares a type with it, reveal it, then add it to your hand. Shuffle your library.
Unfortunately it seemed too long and clunky, and if I wanted to I could just tack that on to various predacious Saurian creatures instead, since it is kind of bland for a keyword.
Nazuran Falls is powerful. I wanted something that was similar to the old card Undiscovered Paradise, since that was the perfect card flavor wise and mechanic wise for my set. However, I was uncertain at the time if I was going to do reprints at all.
Travel Compass was mainly created out of necessity for something new that nets lands for any color at common level. Since I am considering adding reprints to the set, I might go with Wayfarer's Bauble or Expedition Map instead.
Phantasmal Image is very good if you ask me. With the addition of U you get that on a 1/1 stick. I would be worried...

It's a fine card and I like it. As a common I would playtest the draft tactic it suggest (rather similar to ripple in whatever block it was).
It's also the most elegant of the implementations you had considered so it's good.
Hmmm... I think it should be legendary. I mean, two of these on the battlefield? These are "free", harder to remove than Lotus Cobra, and also enable themselves.
Okay, well here are some more suggestions. Phantasmal Image has the luxury of being able to bypass Hexproof, Master Illusionist does not. Master Illusionist also can't copy it's own illusions, nor itself anymore, I changed the wording.
Nazura Falls will be changed so you can only bounce basic lands. That will definitely help keep the power level down, plus it helps promote basic lands, which is another small theme I want to do with this set.
As for Whirlwind Pterosaur, the idea is that it summons this whirlwind that throws around nonland permanents, along with itself, because its often too weak to withstand the gale forces. Kind of silly, but it works well with a big flying Pterosaur that's trying to snatch things up.

THE PLANE OF NAZURA

The plane of Nazura is as mysterious as it is large. Being one of the largest planes in existence, it offers plenty of space for magic to grow, expand, and become. Among the vast savannas, thick jungles, tropical isles, plateaus, deserts, and marshlands live many species of creatures. Nauara is said to contain the Heartlands; the area of the world where the plane began existence. It is mapped in the constellations of the sky, and all who inhabit Nazura know of its lore. Beneath the great stars in the sky, the land is the most important features of Nazura. He who controls land has power.
TRIBES OF NAZURA

Although many species inhabit Nazura, there are six main sentient species that rule the plane. The most common folk of Nazura are humans, who inhabit all parts of the land, and embody all colors of magic. Humans often live in their own villages, however when neighboring the other tribes, they sometimes befriend them and live in communities. Humans are as diverse in personality as they are in colors, however. There are many different establishments of humans; villages, cultures, and tribes. They all have their own ideas on Nazura and the Heartlands.
Hailing from the Great Savanna; forests and plains, come the Antelope folk known as the Gazal. The Gazal are herbivorous mammalian creatures who live in large communities along the plains and forest edges. They are typically peaceful, and spend much of their time farming. They utilize both green and white mana; wielding it for many purposes including defending their tribe, strengthening their troops, growing their crops, or expanding their knowledge on the Heartlands. The Gazal fair well with Humans, and they are commonly seen working together in cities and villages among the Savanna.
Among the coastal isles and marshlands live the Mandran, an amphibious race of salamander-like humanoids that specialize in blue and black magic. Despite being related to the lesser newts, salamanders, toads, and frogs, the Mandran are highly intelligent and efficient creatures. They possess a complex combination of lungs and gills, allowing them to survive on both land and water; fresh or salt water. Despite this, many Mandran still prefer to live beside bodies of water to relax and learn from the magic available, along with the omnivorous choices of food available. The Mandran wield black and blue magic to manipulate and control their surroundings. Instead of direct violence and combat, most Mandran enjoy stealthy assaults and rogue's guile, relying on illusion and poison to defeat their foes. Mandran love studying the minds of others, and often invade their dreams to steal secrets and gain knowledge. Although some humans live peacefully among the Mandran tribes scattered across the marshlands, mangroves, and isles, many fear the Mandran due to their mysterious lore of being able to control one's mind and body. Some humans are slaves to Mandran wizards, and carry out their bidding. However, those who are ambitious enough to seek the wisdom of the Mandran often return wielding powerful magic and knowledge.
Perhaps the most feared tribe of Nazura, the Kakalar, or more commonly known as Gnoll, are humanoid hyenas that rule over the badlands, deserts, ridges, and bogs. The Kakalar are the most aggressive of all of the tribes, and are the least liked. They live in dens and small clan villages, often built from the large bones and hides of dead saurians. They are feared for their ferocity and maniacal behavior. The Gnoll are primarily carnivorous, but feed on almost everything, including the other tribes of Nazura. Gnoll often raid other villages, clans, and sometimes even cities in search of loot. Despite their chaotic behavior, the Kakalar aren't stupid. They are ambitious and passionate. Although most of the Kakalar are dangerous, there are a handful of tribes and individuals that interact with the other sentient beings of Nazura. Mind the fact that if you hear the dreadful cackling laugher in the night, know that the majority are not friendly.
Soaring along the coasts and high above the plains are the bird people known as the Fethra. The Fethra, or Aven, are wise and loyal creatures that live in large "Nests" along coastal ridges. Although nest is just their term for homes, the communities of Fethra often expand into large villages and cities. All Fethra adults can fly; their bones are hollow but sturdy, allowing them to take flight with their wings along their back. The Fethra are the most lawful and orderly of all the tribes, often forming integrated rules for their homes. Humans enjoy the Fethra, and vice versa, for both get along well in large communities. Using blue and white magic, the Fethra learn the ways of the sea and sky; often becoming tempests and wise seers, predicting weather, and even summoning it. The Fethra make excellent wizards, and are often valiant in combat as well.
Living among the woodlands and foothills are the Thwar, the saurian-descendants also known as viashino. Large, powerful, and reptilian, the Thwar are often feared for their brute strength alone. Most Thwar clans dislike the other tribes, often destroying them for entering their territory, although some enjoy the company of others in order to learn and trade. Many Thwar are excellent warriors, seeing as how strength comes natural to them. Yet many Thwar also specialize in druidic magic and shamanism. They cherish nature, value growth, and take it hand in hand with wild warfare. Being Viashino, the Thwar think they are the ultimate saurian race.
Among the sentient species of Nazura, there are many other creatures that live in harmony; or turmoil, in the Heartlands. The saurian creatures, giant lizard beasts resembling what we know as dinosaurs, are abundant. Ranging from a foot long and tall, to towering monstrosities, the saurian race is as diverse as it is strong. Ferrosaurs, imperiorsaurs, raptors, pterosaurs, and titanosaurs are among the most fabled, but their are many in between. Other species inhabit Nazura as well. Nazura is home to many great beasts, including Rhinoceros, Elephants, Apes, Snakes, Cats, Fish, and insects. There are also fabled creatures that live in Nazura; beings that are far more deadly and legendary than the common creatures. Kraken, serpents, dragons, hellion, wurms, hydra, basilisk, oozes, and others roam the landscape.
In addition to the "Natural" beings of Nazura, there are also numerous other beings. Spirits of the living help guide their tribes through advice and knowledge in the stars. Among the unnatural forces, the elementals are among the most interesting. They are beings made of pure magic; often resembling natural phenomena, animals, or a combination of both. They are loved, feared, and respected by all tribes of Nazura. Many elementals are strange; and those who are curious seek them in order to learn. Many believe that the elementals are from the stars; the heartlands, and even when they pass away, their essence returns to be born anew.
ABILITIES AND MECHANICS
Landfall will make a return for my custom set. Lands play a big role in the world of Nazura.
Another mechanic I have created is Reclaim. Reclaim is a mechanic that lets you collect your card back from your graveyard. The effect reads as this:

I am still looking for a third ability.

Thanks for the thoughts! Okay, so let me see if I can sway you with any of my words. Master Illusionist is abusive, and I will fix it so it cannot target itself. Aside from that, I think it will be fine. Sure it will be strong, but at the same time it's got it's weaknesses.
Whirlwind Pterasaur is also absuive, and I have been thinking of ways to make it less abusive. I considered changing it to this instead, which is also strong, but doesn't allow for as many shenanigans:

Shared Triumph is good, yes, but at the same time it only works with decks that play white. Since I have a creature type for each allied color pair (Among other various creature types that work well together) I wanted something that could be used in any color.
Pack Raptor is meant to be a really powerful common. Lightning Bolt can dish out 3 damage at instant speed in one powerful swing. Pack Raptor is supposed to be the more deadly Raging Goblin of this world, where as you can potentially net out more raptors. After all, they are pack hunters. I agree that this is a powerful card in draft, and I was actually considering making a "mechanic" for the Saurians, where it looks something like this:
-- Whenever a creature dealt damage by this creature dies or when this creature deals combat damage to a player, you may look at the top X cards of your library until you reveal a creature that shares a type with it, reveal it, then add it to your hand. Shuffle your library.
Unfortunately it seemed too long and clunky, and if I wanted to I could just tack that on to various predacious Saurian creatures instead, since it is kind of bland for a keyword.
Nazuran Falls is powerful. I wanted something that was similar to the old card Undiscovered Paradise, since that was the perfect card flavor wise and mechanic wise for my set. However, I was uncertain at the time if I was going to do reprints at all.
Travel Compass was mainly created out of necessity for something new that nets lands for any color at common level. Since I am considering adding reprints to the set, I might go with Wayfarer's Bauble or Expedition Map instead.

Okay, well here are some more suggestions. Phantasmal Image has the luxury of being able to bypass Hexproof, Master Illusionist does not. Master Illusionist also can't copy it's own illusions, nor itself anymore, I changed the wording.
Nazura Falls will be changed so you can only bounce basic lands. That will definitely help keep the power level down, plus it helps promote basic lands, which is another small theme I want to do with this set.
As for Whirlwind Pterosaur, the idea is that it summons this whirlwind that throws around nonland permanents, along with itself, because its often too weak to withstand the gale forces. Kind of silly, but it works well with a big flying Pterosaur that's trying to snatch things up.
