MTG Salvation

Ok, 2nd decklist uploaded to MTGS. This is my Godo, Bandit Warlord deck. Its a pretty standard voltron list with a couple of burn elements and some artifact durdle-combo. Realistically, the win conditions are pretty much just the general but heartless hidetsugu also puts in work. One key card I'd like to mention before presenting the decklist is grafted exoskeleton. Its lame, and I don't want it. Moving swiftly along...



There are a fair few cards I would like to try out in this deck
Ogre Battledriver
Mutavault
Vandalblast
Vesuva
Sculpting Steel
Heartseeker
Reforge the Soul

and i'm seriously tempted to put the Kaldra package in for ****s and giggles. There are a couple of under-performers in this deck, so I shouldn't have too much trouble making room for these other cards.

Any other thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated!

I pointed this out in dorino's Krenko thread but it would be something more suited to your deck:

Godo + Splinter Twin + Thornbite Staff = ALL of your equipment in play at once.

Because of the new legendary rule you only lose one when you control two. Send the token to the graveyard after resolving its ETB trigger which triggers the untapped ability on the staff. Repeat and belch your deck on the board.

Seems good for you. Especially since after the last copy dies Godo untaps and can mutilate an opponent (depending on available mana for equips).

Looks like a fun deck. My only thoughts are maybe a few less equipment for some more removal and mana rocks. Specific cards, Movies and sword of body and mind seem like the two that would be your least performing. Maybe throw in whispersilk cloak and rogue's passage to ensure Godo getting thru.

Thats a pretty sweet combo, but I think I would have to make sure I could get darksteel forge reliably, since mass artifact destruction is pretty prevalent in my meta. Worth a test though! Cheers

The deck is a lot of fun, its probably my "go-to" deck out of my 10. Yeah I kind of agree with you. To be honest, I will keep the sword just for keeping the cycle (bit OCD maybe haha). What did you mean by movies? I assume its a smartphone autocorrect or something?

As far as mana rocks go, besides thran dynamo what do you think would be worth putting in? maybe everflowing chalice? Yeah I agree I could up removal. I think chaos warp, vandalblast are good. What other ones? Bearing in mind I'd like to avoid MLD unless there is a very good reason for putting it in.

I actually ran both whispersilk cloak and rogue's passage at one point. I found that shroud was sometimes more of a hindrance to me than a help, because of the low creature count. Sometimes I couldn't get shroud off Godo and couldn't equip him. The passage came out because I realised I was running way too many non-basics for Valakut and my mana doublers, but maybe I could find room for passage to go back in

Chandra Ablaze has always been amazing for my mono red decks. She burns utility dorks, refills your hand, and messed with combo players. Char is another solid option for targeted burn. Also, since you have a few mana doublers, more X burns such as Molten Disaster would help.

Aftershock and Fissure, though expensive, round out some good spot removal as well as some of reds many artifact destroyers such as Into the Core.

Squee, Goblin Nabob is a solid creature that can always pick up a sword or two as well as fuel Rummaging Goblin, Mad Prophet, Wild Guess, as well as the mentioned Chandra.
Lastly, just a few more 2 CMC mana rocks should help you throw down Godo earlier. Coldsteel Heart and Fellwater Stone are all that come to my mind right now, but I know there is plenty.

haha yeah fair call. Lovisa is one of those "underperformers" i mentioned. Chandra's kind of cool, do you think its ok to run her with so few instants and sorceries? Also, is her mana cost within reach? i suppose Lovisa is 5 so swapping her out for that isn't a big deal.

squee seems like a decent choice as well. The looters... seem a bit weak to be honest. I don't actually struggle too much for draw, as i can always pull out a card-drawing equipment with godo, and there are other cards too

coldsteel heart seems decent here. Fellwar stone seems bad if no-one is playing red. might as well chalice for 2 and get versatility

Chandra Ablaze is great. Don't really ever expect to get planeswalker's ultimates off. I mainly use her for her -2 ability. By the time you get to six mana, after you've played your general of course, you should be running low on gas. Great way to refill your hand whilst simultaneously messing with control/combo players.

ok will definitely give her a try. i'm sure there's a spare in my mates binder so will trade it off him and give it a whirl
