Put a 1/1 cleric token with protection from red and black into play

Green... hm.... Lifegain and pump are out, as is creature generation. Artifact and enchantment destruction don't quite work. Hm... maybe give green the red one and give red something else?

Lifemark G
Sorcery
Destroy target Island or Swamp

Chaosmark R
Instant
Change the targets of target blue or white spell.
All these speculated Marks are waaaaaay too powerful...that Puremark is pretty much an instant-speed one-mana 1/1 Pro black/red. Which is pretty insane compared with cards like Order of the Stars.

And first-turn land destruction, even when limited to two types of land (which, with dual lands, isn't a massive restriction), is insane. Magnivore would go ballistic, especially playing second:

You: Breeding Pool.
Me: Steam Vents, Stonemark.
You: Forest.
Me: Island, Eye of Nowhere
You: Forest.
Me: Stone Rain.

However, I still agree that there should be a cycle of Marks...just no crazy stuff (though Deathmark is still pretty good).

Why is nobody listening to me? We already have the green component of the cycle. It's Karplusan Strider. It won't be a Mark cycle, but it will be a cycle.

Pfft, listening is overrated.

There may be a *mark cycle, but with the Strider it seems unlikely. Just a pity Deathmark can't splat Niv-Mizzet (but it can TRY to hit ghost council, and can take down heirarch and BTS quite nicely).

I see this as a replacement for the almost non played Slay and Execute black coor hosers in tenth edition.

It is way better then those cards and to me is a perfect power level for a color hoser should be not deal with me or die like Karma was but not underpowerd liek slay and execute are.

It's nice to see them finally taking a more balanced stand on cards that target only certain colors. They really need to make more cards that target a wider range of things even if that range is still restricted. I think that type of targetting restriction is much more interesting than what they have been doing.

And how psched was I to be staring at my tv screen from like an inch away trying to read the text.

Quite psyched, actually.

Looks like it will be extremely playable backing up from Rav block and all the gold creatures, but could become terrible when that cycles out depending on what wizards does after Coldsnap.

Deathmark is good. Can anyone check its rarity?

I didn't get to tape the spot, so I can't go back and review what I saw, but from what I saw it looked like a common. I wouldn't be surprised if it were uncommon, since I've never seen the Coldsnap expansion symbol in silver before, but it really looked common(black) to me.

Definitely not a rare, and I'm 95% sure it's a common.

um did u know watch pro-tour hawaii??? they were raul's super secret tech. Slay and execute are great color hosers cause they kill and maintain hand advantage. These just give u kill but at a much better cost

Deathmark makes me cry. As an avid WW player, I cringe at a 1CC card that can take down anything in my deck that isn't nailed down or on fire. At least it isn't an instant, which would have broken it into Pi pieces.

Didn't know if this merited a separate thread, so I'm posting it here for the benefit of those people who don't know about it yet.

At Champs on Saturday, the head judge was showing all of the Adult Swim bump ads on his computer (I think Wizards sent him a DVD with the Adult Swim spots on it, most likely as a promotional tool for the Coldsnap prerelease). Once I realized that there were cards being previewed with full rules text, I played them over and over to make sure I could figure out the effects of the cards being shown in the ads. Among the ads were ones highlighting the aforementioned Deathmark and Surge of Dementia, the Stalking Yeti from today's preview, the Marit Lage token for Dark Depths (the other preview card), and Allosaurus Rider (the green pitch card).

There were also other cards previewed in the group of Adult Swim bumps:

Garza ___ (it looked like Zed, but is probably Zol from the name thread), Plague Queen
Legendary Creature (don't remember type)
4ubr
Flying, haste
Sengir Vampire's ability (when a creature dies in the same turn it was damaged by Garza, you put a +1/+1 counter on her)
When -this- deals combat damage to a player, you may draw a card.
5/5

Gutless Ghoul
Creature-Zombie
2b
2 (or possibly 1), sacrifice a creature: Gain 2 life.
2/2

Heidar, Rimewind Master
Legendary Creature (don't remember type, probably Human Wizard)
4u (I'm pretty sure about this, but not 100%)
2, t: Return target permanent to owner's hand. Play this ability only if you control four or more snow permanents.
3/3 (again, not certain, but pretty sure)

I'm sorry I don't remember all of the details, but I can tell you for certain that the mechanics are all correct (Garza has flying and haste, the Vampire effect, and draws a card when it deals combat damage to a player, the Ghoul sacks a creature to gain life, and Heidar bounces a permanent if you have four or more snow permanents in play).

I also apologize if this should have been a separate thread, but I figured that this is discussing the Adult Swim bumps, so I was just adding on the others I saw. I hope everyone finds this to be useful information.

Great sideboard card vs those pesky elves, birds and guildmages.

Oooh...

Garza Zol is excellent! Either 5 damage and a card or a +1/+1 counter on it! Cool card.

Gutless Ghoul - I love it! Possible 10th Plant?

Heidar, Rimewind Master - I wonder if he's snowy? I like him very much.

Thank you, UD! These are some cool cards.
