Default [FS] Daybreak Coronet (rumoured)

Wow, this is the weirdest rumour season ever! There I am, racking up a huge phone bill trying to get through to the news stations in the Netherlands to find out all the tiny card details, when I notice my answering machine blinking at me. Now, the funny thing is, I never heard the phone ring. My hand is shaking as I eagerly press the button to hear the message...

I can just make out a very faint voice, husky yet mellifluous. It's definitely a woman, and I think she's speaking Dutch. Now, my Dutch isn't very good, to say the least, so I have to type a transcription into BabelFish as I listen! I can't guarantee I got it 100% correct, but this is what came through:

Daybreak Coronet ww
Enchantment - Aura (rare)
Enchant creature with another Aura attached to it
Enchanted creature gets +3/+3 and has first strike, vigilance, and lifelink.

This must be timeshifted, I think to myself, then yell at the machine, "Collector number! Collector number!!" In the faintest of whispers, I hear "Twenty-one..." and then the machine clicks off. I go to play it back again, but the tape is blank.

Now, as I think back on these strange events, I can't help wondering - was this a message from beyond the grave...?

WELCOME ORANGE BRO!!!!

To the wonderful World of Rumormongering... It really suits you!

Interesting card, and it showcases the Lifelink ability... perhaps it's a little restrictive, but thats why you build auratog... isn't it!!!

I must say, Orange, that was a fantastic story. It actually creeped me out. Very nice.

As for the card, it seems fairly good. Those are definitely some good abilities at only two mana, despite the restriction. With as many auras as you can find in T2 (I only play T2), it could easily be a powerful card. -Jack

Enchantments always check their target for legailty right? If so, this card is a 2 for 1 (or a 3 for 1) waiting to happen. Sadly :-(

You are right brother Hydro. That would be fantastic with Auratog! I love the design of it, mabey it's the casting cost, or the fact that you have to wait to use it, but it seems to go hand in hand with serra avenger

All I know is, retether is getting rethinked.

Thanks Orange

awesome! enchantress.deq shall rise again! i wish i could rumormonger with the rest of you... but alas, the season is in full swing and i am more then content. at thisrate we'll have the set by the end of the week. one question though: am i the only person who thinks is a bit undercosted for this??

EDIT: upon further thought, it is a guanteed three for one, so i suppose the cost is balanced...

So this card won't work if the creature is enchantless?

For 2 mana, the bonus is beautiful, but this kid being rare is a bit ridiculous...... Its bonus isn't anything breathtaking, just an oversized effect, and the restriction is a little bad...... Though at least this kid could be a good reason to have Rethether in your deck..

Hmmm. That card is straight up bad, unfortunately.

Enchanting a creature is already asking to be 2-for-1'd; this ensures that either you'll be 3-for-1'd (quite likely), or you'll win huge (overkill is not a good strategy for success in high level Magic). It's an interesting idea, but I very seriously doubt that it's constructed playable...

Now this is just silly. I know that the drawback is pretty huge (they hit your guy with some black removal, you lose 3 cards to their one), but is it really necessary to make the payoff so big? Imagine this situation:

Turn 1: Defiant Elf
Turn 2: Umezawa's Jitte
Turn 3: Griffin Guide on Elf
Turn 4: this for 2 and equip for other 2

When this happens I'm screwed, since I dislike playing removal heavy decks (by which I mean more than 8 removal cards). And I'm quite certain that this will happen a whole lot on MtGO, this kind of deck is right up the alley of many casual players there.

A little restrictive? Not with all the auras that might already be on the creature you want to put this on... Utopia Vow, Temporal Isolation, your opponent's Vampric Link, Melancholy, Reality Acid...

I really try to see the bright spots of most cards, but this would be at most a two-of even in an Auratog deck that I'd always be hoping I never have in my starting hand. That doesn't make me optimistic.

Seems like one of them crazy "creature builder" auras, but it doesn't match a single creature in Magic.

Maybe one from the future?

EDIT: Also note that getting rid of the other aura gets rid of this one - could be useful in conjunction with Confiscate.

well it looks like a 1-2 of in a deck choke full of enchantments!! Not too bad, but for the risk you take in casting it.. some protection from black or red would be nice... ah well

Ill try to build something to abuse this for sure (luv Auratog)

If it needs a first aura, recursive auras like Aspect of Mongoose, Spirit Loop or Moldervine Cloak come to mind... and even Pentarch Ward.

Bad. This offers such card disadvantage opportunity, it's not even funny. It might create an unstoppable threat in limited, but that's kind of iffy too, with so much removal in the block.

Interesting. It has power, and certainly potential, but it's still fragile.

Also, it falls off if all other Auras on the creature are destroyed. For a one-turn play, it's pretty good, though. I'd be happy if it were an instant, so as an Aura it's not that much worse.
