Borderguard might be within the curve for Kithkin. Maralen is really interesting, in both flavor and ability - note that she shuts down all draw, not just replacing the draw for your turn. Consul is decent, and Ash obv begs Doran.

The Treefolk is great with Doran.
Otherwise...not that impressive. Maralen lets both players play with their best cards. Bad much?
The Flamekin is pretty bad, though decent in Limited.
The Kithkin has potential, and will likely see play as a two-of maybe in Kithkin builds.

Maralen seems meh...until you realize that Aven Mindcensor is in the format. Then it looks awfully broken. You have access to your entire library...your opponent has access to their top 4. Seems pretty good.

Borderguard could be WACKY in Limited with all the 1/1 counters floating about in this set. Heck...it even seems decent in Kithkin.dec as an answer to WoG/Damn.

Consul? Could be the nuts in an Elemental build...Pyroclasm nearly every turn? Why not!

And then there's the Ash. Doran.dec..here we go. Treefolk could become a deck to reckon with all on their own. Seems good.

Love the cards...seriously...love em.

Unstoppable Ash is going to be amazing with Doran...I like Kinsbaile Borderguard. He seems very strong. I like the fact that you get a token for each counter on it when he dies. I guess Serrated Arrows is pretty bad after this guy has gotten his +1/+1 counters. Makeshift Mannequin seems cool with this guy also.

that wizard is kooky! seems like a card a player would design! i'd lose my 3 life and get something to get rid of that puppy. that's for sure! nice way to draw removal though.
but that Kithkin is awesome! most of the time a 3/3 which you don't usually see for 3cc in white, but it also provides Wrath resilience. this card will make Kithkin White Weenie a contender, if you ask me...

Actually, when there is a +1/+1 counter and a -1/-1 counter on the same creature, both are removed - so serrated arrows is actually an excellent answer to a 3/3 borderguard.

I looooove the Kithkin. An amazing card, it's a heavy beater on turn 3-5 and then repopulates post-God/Damn. Beautiful. Unless there are no buddies, then he sucks.

The treefolk is pretty, and championing out that Treefolk Harbinger the turn after Doran hits play is scaaaary. TREEFOLK BUSHIDO 5!!!

Every-turn Pyroclasm palse are meh.

Maralen could see some sort of home in MBC or a new black combo build of some sort.

This is the situation I see Maralen being useful in: She puts a much faster clock on the game. If you have a higher life total than your opponent and playing blue, just search up removal, counters, any delay really. Then, let Maralen slowly kill the other guy...especially if you also happen to be playing white and use the Mindcensor...B/U/W control may have a new toy.

Someone already mentioned this but with Aven Mindcensor not only being in the format but being a WIZARD it opens up a lot of potential for Maralen... wouldn't be surprised to see a few decks pop up. W/B is back? Meh maybe... maybe not.

I really like the Borderguard, it will be a 3 mana 3/3 plenty of times on turn 3 and you get creatures even if it is hit by (mass) removal. Also reinforce combos well with this card, as you not only get a counter on it but boosts the leaves play ability too.

Maralen looks tricky but there is the combo with mindcensor and also with both Null Profusion and possibly with Colfernor's Plans: you are skipping your draw step anyway so might make good use of that.

Don't forget....Vedalken AEthermage is also a wizard....and tutors for both Censor and Maralen!

WOW! Fantastic preview cards. I love each of them save the Elemental (not exciting).

Maralen is just...man, there will be some INSANE control decks with that girl. You play her with at least 1-2 counters in hand, that game is over boys. Mystical Teachings up Cryptic Command, Cancel, whatever, while Demonic Tutoring every turn? Wowza.

Borderguard is absolutely fantastic and will be great in Kithkin decks. They really needed a Caller of the Claw mechanic and this one works well. Also note the synergy between him and the new Evoke guy who puts +1/+1 counters on your creatures.

Ash is obv nuts with Doran the Explorer, and I really think shows how kick ass Treefolk can be in the upcoming meta. A little accel and they're unstoppably huge.

Regardless, Maralen is the real gem here. Chase rare much?
