The "Poprocks and Coke" Vote Count
(3 to lynch) GiftsTrix - 3 (Pod, Cyan, GiftsTrix)
The town, weary from all the violence and debate, eventually settles on our friend GiftsTrix. He looks equally exhausted... yet strangely satisfied.
"So it's come to this, then. I figured Tyler was lying when he told me he could give me greatness... but I never expected I'd end up here. I never expected the path I chose..." he pauses. He then pulls his arm from behind his back, exposing a revolver. The town backs up quickly. "He's got a gun!" Billium Tate's Pod-like personage screams.
"Sigh... I guess this is it. Here's to fight club, then." And GiftsTrix points the gun at his temple and pulls the trigger. You all move towards him, but he's already expired.
Suddenly, his shadow moves. Or, more appropriately, something hiding in it. Those of you with weapons move on it, but it's fast. It moves like a shadow, or maybe simply the animal form of gasoline, because that's what it resembles. Unfortunately, it doesn't move fast enough to avoid the weapon fire of the town. It takes the bullets one at a time, only moving slower and slower, until it finally stops. Then, it dissolves, finally disappearing into nothing.
You all breathe a sigh of relief. GiftsTrix, Robert Paulson, Venom Clone, Townie/Serial Killer, has finally been defeated.
Cyan picks up the scrap of paper left in his hand.
Calmer, fitter, happier, and more productive
A pig in a cage on antibiotics.
"So that's it, then?" he says.
"Wasn't he sure there was another mafioso, though?" Treigit says, thoughtfully.
Realization flows across your faces. The four of you remaining step back and examine each other. Apparently, the job isn't done; it's just almost there.
Niv steps out of his room. His eyes are dark, like he hasn't slept at all. In his hands is clenched a baseball bat - meager protection against anyone who showed up to deal with him.
Cyan joins him and rubs his own eyes. He hasn't slept either. "Well, then, I suppose it's time to collect the survivors." Niv doesn't respond to the joke.
Pod wanders towards them. "I found him, men." The other two blink and walk towards Treigit's room, slowly. They are loathe to get there, and eventually, Pod has to drag them there. The scene, needless to say, was worth the hesitation.
Treigit, Doctor Gregory House, Town Doctor, is slumped against the wall outside his room. Clenched in his hand is an empty syringe of an anticoagulant, and it looks like he had administered it. Unfortunately, it seems like it went to the wrong person. His body has been ravaged by knife wounds, almost uncountable due to sheer density, and his shirt and jacket are soaked in blood. It also looks like the attacker grabbed his cane and hit him a few times with it, for good measure.
In his pockets, Niv finds an ungodly amount of Vicodin and a note:
Open up your skull, I'll be there
Climbing up the walls.
Cyan takes off his hat and lowers his head for a moment, then returns. "Well... I suppose this is it, then."
The three men standing there admire each other with sour glances, ready for a confrontation. Eventually, Michael appears, his hat in his hand. "Gentlemen... it's time." Solemnly, the three move towards the committee room, for the final time.
Which means he clearly isn't untargetable, and stands to reason if he is the Mafia Godfather.
It's going to take me some time and effort to work out the last few days from the perspective of Niv as scum, as I honestly didn't expect that result to come back.
In the meantime, however, clearly a Vote Niv is in order. Lynch all liars, at the very least.
No response to my getting an investigation on you, despite your previous claim of untargetability? That's nice.
And no, we determined that it was unlikely for you to be mafia. But that was before we were left with a situation where you were the only one that CAN be mafia, and before I determined that you lied about being untargetable. Clearly, things are alot different now.
I thought about this for the last couple of hours, and I think I managed to work everything out. If you consider the events from the time that we mass claimed. alot of things fall into place. Initially, Niv refused to claim(despite being, arguably, the main proponent of the mass claim). In his estimation, the fact that he is Bart Simpson was enough. Yet, the very next day, he was willing to let us know that he is untargetable. So..what happened there? If you look at the way things worked out, it makes sense. At that time, there were 8 people alive. A Cop, a Doc, a mason that couldn't be scum, Sutherlands, WoD, GT, Niv, AK. Niv knew that the odds of him getting targeted with any ability that would occur that night were low enough that he could stall. AK would get lynched, he would be able to NK someone, and 3 easy lynches would fall into place..Sutherlands, GT, WoD. Their claims pretty much guaranteed that they would get lynched, honestly, barring extraordinary circumstances.
Unfortunately for Niv, extraordinary circumstances are exactly what happened. AK got lynched and..there was no night period, meaning that he still needed to get 3 people lynched in order to win. Unfortunately, one of the 3 'main suspects' was all but guaranteed to get lynched next..which put Niv in a bad spot. So what did he do? Claimed untargetable. From his perspective, I magine that he doubted I was going to waste an investigation trying to confirm/deny his claim until there was no one left(and in fairness, he was right). In the meantime, he killed the only roles that he could..the ones that could target him and debunk his claimed untargetability. Clearly he couldn't take the risk of targetting me, I was all but guaranteed to have doctor protection. This explains perfectly why a mafioso would kill Sutherlands. And by Niv's own admission, he claims that Sutherlands 'tried' to target him. But how does that make any sense..A)why would the Mod tell you, if you are untargetable, that someone tried to target him. And B)How would he know it was Sutherlands? Also, yesterday Niv commented that the 'MO' of the Sutherlands kill seemed like more of an SK kill than a mafia one. Why would anyone say this, except to casually try to distance themselves from said kill? Niv's play and actions have gotten more sloppy and more desperate as the game progress, as he clearly started to feel the pressure that comes with the end of the game, and with the inevitability of me targetting him and him having to try to get out of it.
Honestly, his decision to completely ignore my first post today and just go with 'we all determined that I can't be mafia'(which I've said any number of times in the last few days isn't true) is proof positive that I have hit the nail on the head here.
I shouldn't even have to go into the fact that Kraj couldn't win the game if Niv was really untargetable, or the fact that Kraj didn't say 'I can't win if Niv is still alive', he said 'I have to kill Niv'.
To me, it is much less bastard-mod like for it to work this way than for Kraj to simply not be able to win. And it seems fairly irrational to think that that Niv would be untargetable..except to Kraj. If Niv were forced to claim first, Kraj's game would have been over. No one is going to waste a Vig kill to test whether or not someone's claim is real, even if they do have to kill that person to win. Clearly, Niv couldn't be untargetable..and he isn't.
Niv is clearly scum. His actions reflect it, circumstances reflect it. He lied about being untargetable. Niv is clearly the Mafia Godfather. Case closed.
No response to my getting an investigation on you, despite your previous claim of untargetability? That's nice.
there are two options if you claim to have got a investigation in on me(from my pov), 1. your lying or 2. X bastard modded me. i highly doubt the latter, therefore it should be obvious that you recive a result from me, that i belive your lying, espcially with my vote for you.
And no, we determined that it was unlikely for you to be mafia. But that was before we were left with a situation where you were the only one that CAN be mafia, and before I determined that you lied about being untargetable. Clearly, things are alot different now.
unless your forgetting that you have not been cleared in the least. cop des noting right now.

Yes they were going to be lynched. however it's a strech that i'd have planned it all out? the fact that you go through all this to try and pin me is all insanity.
Unfortunately for Niv, extraordinary circumstances are exactly what happened. AK got lynched and..there was no night period, meaning that he still needed to get 3 people lynched in order to win. It's my freeking role. what more am i to do?
From his perspective, I magine that he doubted I was going to waste an investigation trying to confirm/deny his claim until there was no one left(and in fairness, he was right).
That imo was terrible play. if you were really the cop you would have vesti'd me, and if you were really the cop you'd have got n result tonight.
In the meantime, he killed the only roles that he could..the ones that could target him and debunk his claimed untargetability. I don't know why X sent me that pm, ask him after the game.
Also, yesterday Niv commented that the 'MO' of the Sutherlands kill seemed like more of an SK kill than a mafia one. Why would anyone say this, except to casually try to distance themselves from said kill?
Look at the diffrence between the kills that had to have been venom (the ones that hit AI and arm) and the ones that differ from that style. Suth clearly fits in with the mo of those kills.
Niv's play and actions have gotten more sloppy and more desperate as the game progress, as he clearly started to feel the pressure that comes with the end of the game, and with the inevitability of me targetting him and him having to try to get out of it.
Your not a cop, however well you've played, and you are lying about having hit me last night.
Honestly, his decision to completely ignore my first post today and just go with 'we all determined that I can't be mafia'(which I've said any number of times in the last few days isn't true) is proof positive that I have hit the nail on the head here.
I figured it was bv. that you were lying, however having seen this wall of text that you though youd try and incriminate, i figured i'd humer the final mafia member and debunk your BS
I shouldn't even have to go into the fact that Kraj couldn't win the game if Niv was really untargetable, or the fact that Kraj didn't say 'I can't win if Niv is still alive', he said 'I have to kill Niv'.
I really shouldn't have to go into the fact that there is no freeking reason for kraj to have said what he did if i wasn't town. inless you belive that X is a bastard mod, then my role is either Nutral survivor ot town, and if i was nutral survivor, you'd have alreddy won the game as mafia with me surviving to the end, therefore i'm town
To me, it is much less bastard-mod like for it to work this way than for Kraj to simply not be able to win. And it seems fairly irrational to think that that Niv would be untargetable..except to Kraj. If Niv were forced to claim first, Kraj's game would have been over. even using this logic, I'm still town by kraj's info, i dont see where this was going.
Niv is clearly scum. His actions reflect it, circumstances reflect it. He lied about being untargetable. Niv is clearly the Mafia Godfather. Case closed.
there are two options if you claim to have got a investigation in on me(from my pov), 1. your lying or 2. X bastard modded me. i highly doubt the latter, therefore it should be obvious that you recive a result from me, that i belive your lying, espcially with my vote for you.
You can't just say that someone is lying and not try to prove it. That doesn't mean anything. I have laid out, carefully and thoroughly, exactly how you worked everything out, and I have *caught* you in a lie. The difference is like night and day.
unless your forgetting that you have not been cleared in the least. cop des noting right now.
Cop does nothing? Really? What is your supposition then, that the game just didn't have a Cop? That makes no sense whatsoever. And, if I'm scum, did I just magically know this since the start of the game? My actions throughout the entire game are clearly indicative of me being a Cop.
You're right that I haven't 'been cleared' by an outside aspect. Except by Arimnaes going so far out of his way to get me into the spotlight that he made himself obvious in the process. Except by me being correct about Loran, and then Bateleur, and then Arimnaes himself. I have done everything that I could, as a Cop, to validate my own role.
For you to asser that my claim isn't believable just because it has no external verification is scummy as hell. How exactly *would* I get this verification? Keep in mind, it's not like someone could investigate me into being cleared.
IMO it should have been. and will firmly belive that forever.
Forever? Clearly, you didn't even 'believe' it enough the very next day. You accomplished exactly what you needed to. You bought yourself a day, except it didn't work out like you had planned.
I was bieng pressured, what would you have done. apparentally everyone didn't see what I saw
If you were as confident in your townieness as you claim, you clearly would have stood your ground. But you weren't, because you know that you are not, in fact, town. You folded under that pressure like a lawn chair. If you were being truthful, this never should have happened.
Yes they were going to be lynched. however it's a strech that i'd have planned it all out? the fact that you go through all this to try and pin me is all insanity.
It's not a 'stretch' at all, it was the only course of action open to you. You had to kill Sutherlands. You had to kill Treigit. You clearly couldn't take the risk of targetting me with your NK, no way could you afford to miss more kills. And I'm not 'pinning' anything on you, I am explaining my thought process as to why you have taken the actions that you have. Obviously I am going to do so, I want the town to win this game! What would you have me do? Sit back and hope for the best? Please.
It's my freeking role. what more am i to do?
Clearly it's not, or we wouldn't be having this conversation! It's the role that you false claimed, and hoped would go the distance. But not on my watch.
That imo was terrible play. if you were really the cop you would have vesti'd me, and if you were really the cop you'd have got n result tonight.
I investigated the person that I thought was the correct target. How was I supposed to know that you were going to kill him? I didn't figure that part out until much later(recently). Besides, if I had investigated you yesterday, there would be no difference here, except that I'd be having this conversation with GT instead of you.
I don't know why X sent me that pm, ask him after the game.
Nice deflection.
Look at the diffrence between the kills that had to have been venom (the ones that hit AI and arm) and the ones that differ from that style. Suth clearly fits in with the mo of those kills.
Nice Cover.
Your not a cop, however well you've played, and you are lying about having hit me last night.
Once again, you can't just say 'you're lying' and expect that to hold. I have provided examples of scummy play on your part. All you can do is sit there and say 'you are lying'. Despite how absolutely illogical this is.
I figured it was bv. that you were lying, however having seen this wall of text that you though youd try and incriminate, i figured i'd humer the final mafia member and debunk your BS
Kraj gave his interpretation of the information that he had. But even he said that he wasn't 100% sure. In reality, the only way that there *isnt* any bastard modding going on is...if you are lying about your untargetability. If you are telling the truth, then Kraj was completely screwed by the Mod, because he has no way to win. Aside from which, creating an untargetable role that *has* to be killed by one specific person just makes no sense. However, taking flavor into consideration(both that Kraj was Jack Bauer, and the specific episode of The Simpsons that is being referenced in this situation), it makes some sense that Kraj would have to kill you himself.
even using this logic, I'm still town by kraj's info, i dont see where this was going.
On the contrary. This logic allows for you to be mafia. If Kraj's condition is that *he* has to be the one to kill you, which is..what he said(admittedly, he could have just phrased it that way), this doesn't clear you at all.
No, but nice try scum.
It's disappointing that this is all you could come back with. It's a fact that you are scum, and I have provided any number of circumstances to accomodate this. But all you can do is throw mud. Just face it, your gambit has run it's course. You're not winning this game, scum.
I disagree about the unlikelihood Niv being mafia. The natural assumption, initially, is that Niv is town, because of Kraj's role. Hell, we're on the last day of the game, and only rethinking that because of extreme circumstances. Anyway, this makes it very unlikely that a Vig is going to immediately go after that person, even if they do know who it is. Would Kraj eventually try to kill Niv? Probably, if the town was ahead enough. But that's not really a factor, and the Mafia had a RB anyway.
As far as the mafia losing someone that on Day 1 that 'played excellently'...how would Kraj know to target him in the first place, then? If Niv played excellently, Kraj wouldn't know he was Bart Simpson. If he was forced to claim..then that's his own fault, for playing poorly. Unless he just fired blindly and hit scum, which is something that can simply happen in any game, regardless of circumstances, and is not relevant for consideration here.
The design of Niv's role, the way I see it in my head, is highly elegant and interesting. It gives Niv alot of freedom, and requires critical thinking on Kraj's part. The design of it, the way Niv has presented it, is full of contradiction and a huge effort to be a bastard Mod. I just don't buy it.
I really have a hard time with untargetable roles in general anyway..but especially in this game, where there was apparently only 4 mafia, and a night-skipper, and a town RB(Granted, he was also the Doc, but still). Odds were heavily stacked against the mafia from this game. Niv seeming to have outside confirmation of his townieness balances this out nicely.
Incidentally, if Niv is telling the truth..how was the SK going to win the game? He couldn't kill Niv, and trying to pin a lynch on him was clearly not going to work, except possibly in circumstances like this one where Niv is the only scum left. And not only was there an SK, but a sub-SK as well. Clearly Xyre wanted that role to have a chance.
Niv's role, if untargetable, is simply a huge bastard mod role. I mean seriously. If Niv is telling the truth and is forced to claim before Kraj does..then what happens? A Vig is not going to waste their shot 'testing' whether or not someone is untargetable, and it's unrealistic to have to take 'bastard modding' into account when determining how people's roles works. Kraj would have to assume, at that point, that there would be no way whatsoever for him to win the game...as would the SK, as previously explained. I can't see that happening, especially since he is a town power role.
All logic and evidence points against Niv being untargetable.
Though it is understandable, it is frustrating that anyone would be doubting me now. As the Cop, I played this game as tightly as I could. Unfortunately I gave out an early hint about having information, but even then I was able to fend off attempts by scum trying to acquire this information.
And the case for me being scum is..what exactly? That A)the game had no Cop, B)I was planning on false claiming Cop the entire game(which would mean I knew from the beginning that there was no Cop, which makes no sense whatsoever), C)I threw Loran under the bus and then, even after AI had been killed, I also actively went out of my way to get my other scum partner lynched. Keep in mind that, as scum, my actions towards Loran/Bateleur after that situation started make no sense whatsoever. How Arimnaes treated that situation is exactly how any scum would approach it.
In summation, the notion that I am scum is patently absurd.
This situation should be pretty clear. Niv is obviously lying about being untargetable, and is scum. I am the Cop, and I have proven this in every way that a Cop can.
Anyway, I found a couple of the games where I was a cop on MTGNews, that I remember off of the top of my head, are Classic Horror Mafia and Player's Choice 1 Mafia. It seems like there was one more, but I can't remember it and can't find it, sorry.
Cyan: i tink you have played an amazing game, however, you ae the only possible scum. I know that i am town, and i have tried my hardest to prove so, aside from posting my pm. the problem here is that I can't make a good case on you.
the only thing i have thought of since my last post is this, if we look at that elabroate case you made. it is so far streching that it would make more sence as you as scum, playing it like that so that I never get confirmed, it almost feels, reading your supposed plan, that you planned that out to try and pin me.
If you (and the sk apparently) dont kill suth, i get confirmed.
then you kill tri so that you can false claim that you got a result on me. the only other person in the game that still isn't fully confirmed (apparently.)
I know that, Cyan, i won convince you that you are mafia, however, i think that you are in the gt senario:
I am the Cop, and I have proven this in every way that a Cop can.
however in reallity, yuo have only turned in inocents. you claimed to have had guiltys on dead people. you have only proven that you are either cop, lr scum with inside info.
There is no way to 'prove' that you are the Cop other than in the ways that I have already done. My role is all but confirmed by the fact that GT was Town, then turned into the SK. He wasn't neutral all along or anything like that. I targeted him while he was town, then he became the SK.
I didn't find any scum after being forced to claim because there weren't any for me to find, until today. I investigated people that I thought could be mafia, which is exactly what I should have done.
All you can do is sit there and say 'I know I'm town, I know you're scum', completely ignoring everything to the contrary.
And what does that mean 'you know you won't convince me that I'm mafia'..that makes absolutely no sense. Of course you can't convince me of something that is completely false.
And you haven't done anything to 'prove' that you are town. Kraj's role made it seem like you would be town, but obviously, that is not the case. You have, repeatedly, as pointed out by me, acted scummy. Your play has gotten more and more sloppy as we have gotten closer to the end of the game. You claim that, despite being untargetable, you were informed not only that someone tried to target you, but that it was Sutherlands. This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, and seems more like a desperate attempt to re-confirm yourself than anything else.
And I haven't 'developed some grand plan for you'. I have worked out multiple puzzling events/inconsistencies in the only way that they make sense. For the mafia to target Sutherlands makes no sense..unless you are the last mafioso, desperately trying to protect your lie of untargetability.
It is pointless for me to go over all of this again, when I just did so two posts ago. You are so clearly the last scum, in my mind, that it is maddeningly frustrating. Especially since you are just skating by on a roleclaim that we probably have been misinterpreting the entire game. But for me, it's not enough to sit idly by and hope Pod makes the right call. I am going to provide every piece of evidence I have against you, as well as every one that I have for myself. There is no tomorrow, this is our last chance to get catch you and win this game.
The "Walk Away" Final Vote Count
(2 to lynch)
Niv - 1 (Cyan) Cyan - 2 (Niv, Pod)
The three men remaining quickly decide that enough is enough with the discussion. Cyan is the first to draw a gun, and decidedly points it at Niv. "That stupid ten-year-old boy is a liar, and I can prove it."
Niv pulls out a gun of his own and points it at Cyan. "He's lying, and not a cop."
The two of them stare at each other for a long time, fingers dancing around the trigger, daring their opponent to reveal themselves, as Pod watches nervously, unsure of where to turn. Finally, Cyan sighs. "I guess I just have to be proactive, then." He pulls the trigger and the gun fires on the unsuspecting Niv...
...and gapes as another bullet flies through his stomach. Pod, holding his own gun, fires another that catches Cyan in the temple, and he goes down in a heap. Pod turns to check Niv, who miraculously dived out of the way at the last imaginable second.
"How did you do that?" Pod asks, baffled.
Niv laughs. "Untargetable, remember?" Pod chuckles and walks towards Cyan. He pulls out a few pieces of paper and smiles. "Well, then, that's it." He shows Niv the paper:
Riot shields, voodoo economics
It's just business
and a business card: Charles Dickens, Mafia Godfather.
Niv motions toward the other paper in Pod's hand. "What's that?"
Pod frowns. "Nothing. Let's get out of this godforsaken place." He tosses the papers on Cyan's broken body and surreptitiously strides out of the building, Niv in tow.
As they open the door, the wind catches the paper Pod had ignored. It reads:
rows of houses all bearing down on me i can feel their blue hands touching me all these things in all positions all these things will one day take control and fade out again and fade out
this machine will will not communicate these thoughts and the strain i am under be a world child form a circle before we all go under and fade out again and fade out again
cracked eggs dead birds scream as they fight for life i can feel death can see it's beady eyes all these things into frution all these things we'll one day swallow whole and fade out again and fade out again.
The man in the bar sighs. "So the town prevailed. Unfortunately, all that blood made the house, well, 'unappealing'. So it goes."
Someone in the bar raises his arm. "But what happened to the butler?"
The man frowns. "Michael? Who knows. Although I've heard from some people that he got a job with a multinational technology firm. Something called 'The Fiasco Corporation'..."
All mafia members eliminated. Town wins.
Congratulations to Niv, Billium Tate, Azrael, Charm_Master3125, HAWKEYE7, carrion pigeons, StormBlind, Vampyr, Apokalypse Kid, Wrath of DoG, Sutherlands, and Treigit for winning The Greenwood Affair.
Alberto Gonzales - Mafia Tracker/Eliminator - arimnaes
You are a master of deception and forgetfulness. However, those people who accuse you of "political subterfuge" have it all wrong - you're actually a mafia don who's using the government for his own ends. Wiretaps? Mafia members trying to find targets to eliminate. Attorney firings? Needs to put mafia members into the justice system to make sure he's never convicted. And it's hard to set people up for your crimes with silly things like habeas corpus.
Unfortunately, Xyre found out about your crimes, and threatened to tell the press. So of course he has to die. To accomplish this, you've recruited some scum buddies - Charles Dickens (Cyan), Nikola Tesla (loran16), and the Janitor (AlphaInsidious). You may talk with them via PM at night - copy the mod on all PMs. Each night, the four of you may choose one of you to go out and kill another player.
If you aren't making the kill, you may use one of the following abilities:
1) Once during the game you may send in the FBI to arrest another player for "suspected terrorism". This is really just a fancy kill, but the town will be told that the player will come back eventually (which is a lie) and no information will be given about the target.
2) Each night, you may use your wiretapping abilities to determine what abilities a player of your choice used during the night.
Win condition: Make it so no other faction can win.
----
Kill method: Bullet to the head.
His lyric:
"The head of state is calling my name
But I, I don't have time for you..."
loran16
Nikola Tesla - Mafia Roleblocker - loran16
Nobody knows who you are. All they care about is Thomas Edison, the bastard. What's so special about Edison anyway? He invented a lightbulb. Fan-freaking-tastic. And so, you set about destroying Edison and all he believed in. *evil laugh*
Unfortunately, Xyre found out about your crimes, and threatened to tell the press. So of course he has to die. To accomplish this, you've recruited some scum buddies - Charles Dickens (Cyan), Alberto Gonzales (arimnaes), and the Janitor (AlphaInsidious). You may talk with them via PM at night - copy the mod on all PMs. Each night, the four of you may choose one of you to go out and kill another player.
If you aren't making the kill, you may use the following ability:
1) While few know it, you actually succeeded in inventing a superb stun gun. Each night, you may use it on a player of your choice to prevent all abilities that player attempts to use.
Win condition: Make it so no other faction can win.
----
MOD NOTE:
Kill Method: Electrocution
His lyric:
"Karma police, arrest this man
He talks in math, he buzzes like a fridge
He's like a detuned radio."
AlphaInsidious
Janitor - Mafia Janitor - AlphaInsidious
You may be a lowly janitor, but you're a powerful force. Everyone fears you... everyone respects you. You are a god.
...or so you would believe. In reality, you're just a passive-aggressive, borderline insane janitor. You've always wanted power, though, and revenge on that doctor who torments you every day... so you made a pact with the mafia, pledging your service in order to eliminate the doctor forever.
Unfortunately, Xyre found out about your crimes, and threatened to tell the press. So of course he has to die. To accomplish this, you've recruited some scum buddies - Charles Dickens (Cyan), Nikola Tesla (loran16), and Alberto Gonzales (arimnaes). You may talk with them via PM at night - copy the mod on all PMs. Each night, the four of you may choose one of you to go out and kill another player.
In addition, you have the following abilities:
1) If you make the kill, no information about the target's role will be revealed.
2) If you are killed in some way, the player who ensures your death will die as well.
Win condition: Make it so no other faction can win.

Cyan
Charles Dickens - Mafia Godfather - Cyan
You are one of the most prolific writers of the 19th century. However, few realize that you actually used your literature condemning the horrific conditions of 19th Century Britain as a cover on your own sweatshops with conditions even more brutal than those in your books. The money earned by your books, in the meantime, was channeled towards your own insidious actions to "purge" your pro-worker opposition, all while supporting their cause in your literature.
Unfortunately, Xyre found out about your crimes, and threatened to tell the press. So of course he has to die. To accomplish this, you've recruited some scum buddies - Alberto Gonzales (arimnaes), Nikola Tesla (loran16), and the Janitor (AlphaInsidious). You may talk with them via PM at night - copy the mod on all PMs. Each night, the four of you may choose one of you to go out and kill another player.
In addition, you have the following abilities:
1) Each night, if you use no other abilities (including the kill), investigations on you turn up innocent.
2) Each of your posts must be a minimum 50 words long - no exceptions. That's what you get for being wordy.
Win condition: Make it so no other faction can win.
----
NOTE: Cyan's investigation-protection wouldn't stop Sutherlands... for all that mattered.
Kill method: Stabbing
His lyric:
"Riot shields, voodoo economics
It's just business."
I guess I can't be pissed, the mafia never should have had a chance to win this game anyway, only completely ridiculously bad town play even let me get this far. Oh well. I almost wish I'd just given up days ago. As soon as AK died and night got skipped, I knew it was over. If BT hadn't gotten suspended..sigh..oh well. I dunno why I'm feeling so bitter over a game.
Xyre, honestly, I don't think I'll play in any more of your games. It's completely unbelievable that you included a Jester. Plus, it doesn't seem like you really learned from your previous mistakes. If you're going to make a game this size, it can't only have 4 mafia. And on top of that, there were 3 town roles that were completely and utterly confirmed by other town roles. And there were no Vanilla, which makes getting people lynched drastically more difficult.
God..I'm so furious. There was nothing I could have done any differently and changed the outcome of this game. Niv played like scum for at least half of the game, but because he was confirmed..by the Vig, of all roles, it didn't matter.
You are the coolest musician in existence, according to Xyre. You and your band, Bloc Party, have earned critical praise from our host, and plenty of people across the pond. Xyre loves you so much, he made you the entertainment for the party.
But when you took the stage, nobody knew who you were. People assumed you and your band were the "cleaning crew". None of them recognized your awesomeness. And you realized that the only way to get them to pay attention to you would be to make them fear you... enough to deal with you. Ah, the price of fame.
You have no abilities.
Win condition: Get lynched. Yes, just that. However, if you are alive when any faction wins, or are killed by a means other than lynching, you lose.
----
MOD NOTE: Doesn't count as a faction for the purpose of evaluating the mafia WC (the factions are the town, the mafia, the SK team)
His lyric:
"You don't remember, you don't remember
Why don't you remember my name?"
Disrupt Your Hymn
Eddie Brock, aka Venom - Recruiting Serial Killer - Disrupt_Your_Hymn
These pitiful fools. They don't understand power. They fawn over this man - and why? - so he'll treat them like kings, give them his wealth. They don't understand what real power is about.
Ah... power. The ambrosia of the gods. People think money buys power. They they only wish they understood what power really is. But you do.
Power is the ability to hold a city in your grip. Power is the ability to take hold of the heavens and threaten to bring them crashing down upon the heads of the faithful. Power is respect, but not respect for money... no, respect because they know that you can snuff out their pitiful lives.
Just.
Like.
That.
Power taught you great lessons. You understand now why people pray to their gods. They do not do it out of reverence, nor do they do it out of respect, nor do they do it for their greatest desires being fulfilled. No, they do it out of fear. If you've read the Bible, the Koran, all this testimonials, you will understand the savage power of the gods. They are not merciful, kind, or benevolent. The gods are harsh, swift, and merciless.
People pray to these murderers to save their own sorry skins. Pitiful. But you... you have that power. All you need to do is pull the right strings. Snap a neck, pull a soul, command a world. These are the things you desire, and they're all within your grasp. As soon as the rest of these people are gone, you'll be ready to lead.
But you're a merciful god. You are willing to share your power with another, to let them taste glory, to achieve your ultimate dominion of this rock in space.
You can hear it now. "Good morning, world. This is your god speaking. There are going to be a few changes..."
Starting.
Right.
Now.
"I am god... fear my wrath..."
You have the following abilities:
1) Thanks to your power, the first investigation and the first kill on you in the game fail.
2) Each night, you may choose to kill a player of your choice.
3) On night 0, you can recruit another player as your partner in crime. You and that player will become a proto-mafia, with a shared kill (in place of the above ability) and the ability to talk with each other at night via PM - copy the mod on all PMs. The recruited player, with some exceptions, will retain all powers he had in his original life. Beware, though - some people are too powerful to accept your offer. If you die, your partner will gain the kill ability and become a proto-serial killer.
NOTE: If your recruit fails, all is not lost. On any following night, you may forfeit your nightkill to attempt to recruit again. You will lose the ability to recruit other players once you've successfully recruited a partner.Win condition: Make it so no other faction can win.
Win condition: Kill all non-SKs.
----
MOD NOTE: The following players are recruit-immune - Mafia members, Bart Simpson, Kele Okereke
If he recruits Robert Langdon, Robert Paulson, or Jack Bauer, they will lose their kill ability (Jack will retain his WC criteria).
If he recruits Elvis, and Elvis dies, he will regenerate three days later as a townie again.
The first time Thom targets him, the ability fails (because it counts as an investigation).
Kill method: Beating/Random objects
Recruitee's kill method: Beating/Random objects, unless he or she has another kill method
His lyric (if he has already used his investigation-cancel):
"When I am king you will be first against the wall"
Sweet call, Pod. I've been chomping at the bit since DYH and Cyan railroad'ed me. The reasons Cyan were giving to get me lynched were such crap. Too bad people mailed their votes in on it.
Cyan, great game. Until you came after me, I had you very much pegged for town.
I'd go with Pod for town MVP and Cyan for mafia MVP.

Ye have enemies? Good, good - it means ye've stood up for something, sometime in thy life. - Elminster of Shadowdale
The town mailed in the whole game, and won because it had a million roles to work with, and far too much concrete confirmation. I honestly don't think I've ever seen a worse played game as far as the town goes, which makes it that much worse that the town still won.
Incidentally, something that I've always thought of in the past, but never mentioned for whatever reason..the losing side doesn't deserve an MVP. MVPs are for people that win. It makes no sense to be like 'hey your side lost, but one of you played better than the others so here's a consolation prize'. Who cares, winning is what matters. Well, that and having fun, which this game really wasn't.
In this game, I would say that neither side really deserves an MVP. Pod replaced in at the last minute(which was great for the town, because BT would have blown it for sure), and worked with process of elimination to get 1 lynch correct. Big deal. If I had to nominate someone for MVP, it would probably be DYH. Yes, he got NKed..such is the life of the SK. He also killed 2 mafia while the town sat around with their thumbs up their asses. I figured he was the SK when I killed him, because the way he was playing was, basically, the same as I(as scum) was. But I would have killed him anyway, and he accomplished alot more FOR the town than the town did for itself.
Danny Tripp - Town Antagonistic Mason - Billium Tate
You died within when she died without. This, as they say, is life.
The man was later caught and convicted. He's doing seven in prison, medium security. But that didn't bring her back. Nothing would. And that man who killed her would be free in five, by all accounts. Absolved of his sin, while you had to live with it forever. But the drugs helped you forget the pain, the misery, the horror of reality. Slip away on a beautiful cloud.
When they found the drugs in your desk, however, the studio heads had their hands tied. Why, if Matt Albie, your partner, hadn't been caught with drugs as well, you'd be unemployed right now. They decided to let the two of you figure it out at Xyre's party, and come back with a decision.
The way you see it, however, there's no way to get out of it. You're doomed. Unless... if, say, Matt were to not come back, then they would be forced to keep you. He may be your friend, but he has to die.

Bart Simpson - Town Untouchable - Niv
Showbiz is hell. That's rule #1.
Sure, when your show was on top, so were you. Everything was "Cowabunga!" and "Don't have a cow, man!" And everyone wanted to associate with you. Party all night and all day, that was your motto. You had all the money you could ever want or need, and you spent it all. Life was good.
Until they canceled the show. They had told you it would never happen. They lied, and you found yourself penniless and near-illiterate. Who would have thought that education was necessary?
Fortunately, Xyre's invitation came just in time. A few days to try to find a new gig, before the world collapsed in again.

You tried to explain it to your superiors that he'd disrupted the mission, but they didn't listen. They didn't care about your years of service, either. Nobody lets a terrorist detonate a nuke and gets away with it. You were out.
Xyre, your old drinking buddy, was kind enough to give you a job running security at his home. And when you discovered that he was invited, you saw a chance to fix a lot of mistakes. Bart Simpson had to die.

HAWKEYE7
Guy Noir - Town Watcher - HAWKEYE7
"A dark night in a city that knows how to keep its secrets. But one man is still trying to find the answers to life's persistent questions: Guy Noir, Private Eye." Cue the music.
It was February, and the weather had found itself halfway between chill and homicidal. You could step outside to smoke a cigarette, and the smoke would freeze, fall on your foot, and break your toes. So when this Xyre guy calls up looking for an investigator, well, you pried your frozen fingers off the phone and called the travel agent. Six hours later, you found the place just as cold as home. Sigh.
Hopefully, the problem people won't have guns.
You have the following abilities:
1) Each night, you can sit at the bar in the house and watch as people go about their business. However, you'll probably end up so drunk, you'll only remember one of those names.
2) You must narrate your posts like a noir film. Yes, a noir film. If you don't know what a noir film is, well, wiki it. You'll get the drift. Failure to do so will only end badly for you.
Win condition: The scum must die.

Parties? To hell with parties. If you didn't feel obligated to come, on account of the higher-ups ordering you to, you wouldn't go. But apparently being charitable earns you a visit from the person you're giving money to.

So you went. And you've heard whispers that maybe you can be of some service after all. Not like they deserve it. Lazy bastards.
You have the following abilities:
1) Each night, you may choose to protect a player of your choice (including yourself) from the first kill used on them during that night. However, you're such an egoist that you refuse to protect the same player (including yourself) more than once in the game.
Win condition: The scum must die.

Silent Prophet
Dr. Pangloss - Town Doctor - Silent Prophet
One might figure that a man of your age would take time off for himself, especially considering the plight you've been through. However, your adventures have found you a wonderful place on the lecture circuit, discussing the best ways to avoid getting beheaded by the Inquisition. No matter that the Inquisition has been away for a while now - what matters is that people are willing to give you money to listen to you ramble.
Of course, this doesn't really qualify you as a doctor, and many a critic has pointed out that you have no credentials, but there aren't many other "metaphysico-theologico-cosmolonigologists" to accredit you, so you just get by with things. Unfortunately, your frailty is a bit of an issue here, but you'll make do. After all, optimism is the best cure for everything, or so you're paid to say.
You have the following abilities:
1) Each night, you can use your motivational talents to convince another player to hide in their room all night, which will counter the first kill used on them that night. However, this will also block that player. Keep that in mind.
Win condition: The scum must die.

Unfortunately, you're just a kid in a parka. Plus, with the coat, it's kind of hard to hear you...
You have the following abilities:
1) Because of your, er, speech impediment, you're limited to 10 posts each day on pain of modkill.
Win condition: The scum must die.

Sutherlands
Thom Yorke - Town Musician - Sutherlands
You and your whiny, miserable falsetto have made your band, Radiohead, one of the most famous in Britain, and for that matter, America. Of course, you're unhappy with the success - the money doesn't do you anything, and for all your fame, you're still whiny and miserable. Which is why you've turned to the bottle.
You've found that your only pleasure now comes from singing your whiny, miserable songs, which has caught the attention of the people at this party. See, they're all (inexplicably) Radiohead fans, and each has his own favorite line. Perhaps you can put that to a good use, or at least a whiny, miserable one. Because that's just what you do.
You have the following abilities:
1) Each night, you can talk to a player to determine what lyric they enjoy, which might tell you something about them.
Your lyric:
"Slower and more calculated, no chance of escape
Now self-employed, concerned, but powerless."
Win condition: The scum must die
----
MOD NOTE: This ability counts as an investigation.
Succeeds against Niv and Cyan, fails (the first time) on DYH.
StormBlind
Robert Langdon - Town Repentant Vigilante - StormBlind
Oh, yes, he deserved to die.
It was an ordinary day at Harvard. You were at work on your latest investigation of a cult in the area, when all of a sudden, the world exploded. When you came to, everyone else was dead. Friends... colleagues... associates... all were gone.
And seeing those bodies filled you with rage that is impossible to describe. You knew who did this. And so you tracked him down and beat him to death. Brutal, I know. But you were vindicated... until the police found the real culprit. Why, had Xyre not invited you to his party, you don't know what you'd have done. Let's just hope nothing happens to him...
You have the following abilities:
1) Each night, you may kill another player of your choice. However, if you end up killing a townie, you can't use this ability the next night and can't vote the next day on account of being really depressed.
2) You're manic-depressive. Act like it. Have fun.
Win condition: The scum must die.
----
Kill method: Beating, random objects.
His lyric:
"Please could you stop the noise, I'm trying to get some rest
From all the unborn chicken voices in my head
What's that, what's that"
Rafaelk
Robert Paulson - Townie - Rafaelk
Your name is Robert Paulson. You are thirty-eight years old.
In your pevious life, you were a well-oiled machine. Every muscle, pumped. Every limb, beefed. Your body, ripped.
That was until the cancer. Then fight club. All the damage you sustained left you a fragile man, no longer the beast you were. Xyre took pity on you and gave you a lease on life as his chef. You would do anything for him, if only you could.
You have no abilities.
Win condition: The scum must die.
----
MOD NOTE: If Jack Bauer and Robert Langdon were to both die, Robert Paulson would gain a one-shot daykill.
Kill method: Beating, random objects.
His lyric:
"Calmer, fitter, happier, and more productive
A pig in a cage on antibiotics."
carrion pigeons
Mr. Burns - Town Misanthrope - carrion pigeons
No, you weren't on the guest list, officially, but a kind soul you know was willing to part with his invitation... for a price. In any event, you came to remind Xyre of the debts he owes you. One can only hope that he survives to pay you back. It's not like you need the money, of course, but every penny counts. That's your philosophy, and you're sticking to it.
Fortunately, such a philosophy can come in quite handy when there's a lot on the line.
You have the following abilities:
1) Each day, if you did not vote at all, you will permanently gain an additional vote.
2) Also, you have heard that there's another person from Springfield present. Excellent.
Win condition: The scum must die
----
His lyric:
"I've got the smile of a local man
Who's got the loneliest feeling"
Wrath of DoG
Elvis - Town Zombie - Wrath_of_DoG
You were the lord of music a long time ago. Indeed, many credit you with being an original creator of a genre of music everyone loves - the rock and/or the roll. Then you lose favor with your fans and died. And aside for a near-infinite number of impersonators and the occasional imitator, your musical legacy is rather dead. Based on the number of reports in less reputable magazines that you're alive these days, it's rather clear your body has joined it.
That is, until your cold body arose from its tomb and started walking again. Yes, you're still dead - you're just walking, a la zombie. And you've decided to crash this party - after all, everyone loves a dead guy.
You have the following abilities:
1) If you end up dying, you will come back three days later. However, your identity will not be revealed to the town, nor will they know when you're coming back. You'll just disappear for a bit.
Win condition: The scum must die.
----
MOD NOTE: Doesn't resurrect if he's been "arrested" by Alberto.
His lyric:
"In a deep deep sleep of the innocent
I am born again."
chaosjuggler
George Clooney - Townie One-Shot Jack - chaosjuggler
You are the George Clooney - the epitome of cool. Brad Pitt may look nice with his shirt off, but you're still Mr. Awesome. However, six months previous, a lunatic fan jumped on your car, trying to get your autograph. Being the kind and generous movie star you are, you naturally floored it. The guy's body was completely thrashed by your tires, and so the case was closed. However, you have a feeling that the police are on to you, and so you've decided to use this party to lay low.
Fortunately (or not), you've become quite paranoid since the accident, and have started carrying around a variety of objects with you in case someone else were to attack you. Seeing some of the people at this party has convinced you that you'll need these weapons to keep yourself alive. And that's all you really want, right?
You have the following abilities:
1) Each night, you may use one of the following abilities (send me a PM even if you aren't using any abilities):
a) Learn a player's alignment (your cellphone to call your police friend)
b) Protect a player from harm (a syringe of morphine)
c) Kill a player (a gun)
d) Block a player (a taser)
NOTE: You may only use each ability once.
Win condition: The scum must die, and you must survive until the end. If you're dead at the end, no dice.
----
Kill method: Bullet to the head
His lyric:
"You ask me where the hell I'm going
At a thousand feet per second
Hey man, slow down, slow down"
Charm_Master3125
Huey Freeman - Town Analyst - Charm_Master3125
Just a few months ago, you had a good gig working the "funnies" and satirizing any idiots who crossed your path. Unfortunately, your strip has gone the way of the dodo, leaving you without work in a town that little tolerates political commentators: a suburb.
Instead, you opened up shop as a private eye. However, not many people in the suburbs care for black PIs, so business wasn't getting anywhere. Your argumentative style wasn't helping things. either. Fortunately, Xyre took pity on your dilemma and invited you to the party. All he told you was that there'd be trouble, and judging by all the drunkenness, trouble's already arrived. Fortunately, drunken people are perfect to sell on PI work. It's a win-win.
Hopefully, things won't get too dangerous... you forgot your gun.
You have the following abilities:
1) Each night, you will learn the alignment of each player who was voting for you at the end of the previous day. However, you're not great at organization... you will only learn how many of each number were voting for you, not who was who.
Win condition: The scum must die.
----
His lyric:
"Rain down, rain down, come on rain down on me
From a great height, from a great height"
Vampyr
Adrian Monk - Town Replicator - Vampyr
You're brilliant, they'd all admit that. Too bad they all think you're insane.
But that's what you get. Whenever a door closes, someone opens a window. Or so they say. Who knows really. All you know is, that window must be pretty large for the door that was closed. They used to trust you, until you finally cracked and ran. And they're chasing you. It's just OCD, you say, just OCD. Nobody cares. They're not friends, they're users. Addicts.
Thank God for this home where you can hide. At least for a few days, you know you're safe. And there's a party going on? Even better. Just... no milk, please.
You have the following abilities:
1) You have an innate attention to detail that the town truly requires. Each night, you may choose two players. If the first used an ability that targets a single player, you will copy that ability and use it on the second player. You won't, however, learn what that ability was.
2) You can only vote for players in alphabetical order. Failure to do this, or hinting at why you have to do it, will result in a painful death.
NOTE: This is probably confusing. Let me explain. Say Azrael, Axelrod, Xyre, and WellofLostGnomes are alive, and you're voting for Xyre. To then vote for WoLG, you must post "Unvote Xyre, Vote Azrael, Unvote Azrael, Vote Axelrod, Unvote Axelrod, Vote WoLG". You are allowed to post all of these at once, but they must all be there.
Win condition: The scum must die.
----
His lyric:
"I'd tell all my friends but they'd never believe me
They'd think that I'd finally lost it completely
I'd show them the stars and the meaning of life
They'd shut me away"
And apparently, Kraj had absolutely no way of winning the game? Nice job, Xyre. How was DYH supposed to win, also? Seriously, did you have ANYONE read over this game setup before you submitted it?
The fact that investigations get through against Niv..just hilarious.
Well, to each their own. I had a blast and I will always sign up for Xyre games in the future. As for the beef about the 4 people on the mafia side, if it was that big of a deal, why did you and arim go at and had arim lynched?
Regarding the MVP's, I suppose you're technically right that the losing side shouldn't have a MVP. But, even a losing side can have members that played very well. If it's not your thing, so be it, but it's become a forum tradition, so I went with it.
I'm curious though Cyan, this isn't the first time I've seen you express unhappiness about a game set up. Why not run one yourself to show us the type of set up you find enjoyable? I'd happily be the first to play in it.

Honestly, I had no idea a jester would be so contentious. As a designer, I felt this guy fit really well into the game. The setup was built to crush metagaming, what with 2 docs, 2 vigs, no real cop or RB. So I felt this made sense. Had I known this role was that awful, I never would have added it. This just goes to show that you should get your games reviewed if there's even a small hint of problems. Needless to say, bateleur played his role flawlessly (which was part of the problem, of course).
As for my decision to make night no-kill (which pissed the mafia off even more): I recognized that the town would gain basically nothing from it. At the time, their best investigator was Sutherlands (who didn't get anything off his role, which was effectively a flavor cop), and the only use they got out of that night, if memory serves, was Ged taking away DYH's investigation-protection... which only served to reinforce his false-claim later. D'oh. I can understand why you guys thought it was bad, but I wasn't trying to hurt the mafia; I felt like the town deserved something for two days of getting crushed.

Pretty much a MacGuffin. Sorry, Cyan.
Alberto Gonzales
I was really disappointed I didn't get to write the flavor for his arrest-scene.

Yes, I broke canon. So sue me. I was really proud of this role and its design, but DYH had the poor luck to recruit the second-worst-possible role in Rafk (the worst would have been NA, of course).

I was disappointed that Sutherlands never got the gist of his role. He was more of a flavor cop (although I did make some of the mafia dead giveaways, like AI, to compensate). But he invested most of the potential on letting players create false-claims like DYH, then not press them on it.
@Vampyr: I've run one game, and no one complained about it. It just wasn't on here. The queue on here is too long to bother with.
@Pod: I didn't want to fight with Arimnaes, *especially* not after AI got killed, but he just kept going at me, and eventually I had to say something. I'm sure that DYH realized that Arimnaes was scum, because the way he approached the whole thing was terrible. Nothing at all was accomplished by all of that, except a scum getting killed of course. As for Loran..well, whatever. Loran was going to go down anyway. I'll never understand why Arimnaes acted in the manner that he did, though...it still makes no sense to me.
@Xyre: Forcing the scum roles to skip their NKs that night changed *alot*. Notice that Arimnaes watched DYH that night. If we'd seen him kill someone, things would have been drastically different. Plus, you know, one more kill anywhere would have made a drastic difference, since it would have changed the outcome of the game itself.
Incidentally, I knew I should have targeted Pod instead of Sutherlands..sigh. I didn't figure that both scum killers would target the same person, I guess. Blah.
Also..2 Doctors? Really? Like there only being 4 mafia wasn't enough, you gave the town 2 Docs and an untargetable?
Yeah, as i've stated to andelijah in irc before, i like to post a lot. And that leads to me posting when extremely tired/busy. In this game's case , during Finals. Which led to my worst play ever.
Oops?
BTW, pretty funny to have Cyan as the last surviving mafia in both of my games at the same time (TV and this one).
Finally, Town MVP to BT, for requiring replacement bringing pod into the game. AKGJSKLDJSDKGJS:LKDGJSKLJGKSDL:
I swear we'd have won if BT had been there instead.

I love Joboman, Poggy, Niv, and Vezok, because, while they may not be the best players, they still try to win. Having fun is the most important thing to a game, but I've learned that if you don't try to win, then you're ruining everyone else's fun.
As for Arimnaes - I feel like I haven't much noticed his presence outside of playing devil's advocate a few times early on and now this huge push against Cyan. Thought that just popped - maybe he's the cop with a scum result on Cyan.... if anything, killing either of these two creates a huge ball of WIFOM if they turn up town.
I could be convinced to kill Arimnaes, I think. Probably a better play than either Treigit, SB, or Suth as those are the likely mafia choices they're looking at right now.

I'll do some more research, but it's a thought.
I honestly wish you had killed me, atleast then i wouldnt have been Mod killed for not reading my PM. I agree tho cyan, this game was... slightly ridiculously leaning towards the town; and the town played horribly.

@GT: You were the only Vanilla(claimed) in the game. That is pretty much a guarantee that you will get lynched at some point, especially when it looks like you're the most likely candidate(by a long shot) to be the Mafia Godfather.
I will say, SB getting modkilled when he did was fairly hiliarious, as was CP's reaction to it.
I had a hard time figuring out CP for awhile. He was acting completely and utterly scummy, but I didn't think he actually was scum. I guess it makes sense now, if he'd survived to the late game, he would have just won single-handedly. Yet another quality town role.
@Cyan: Well with the fast track set up, that queue might be quicker. Otherwise, PM if and when you run a game elsewhere, I'll make a trip over and try to get into it.
@Treigit: Why in the world did you sell me out? My PM stated that I watched someone run in, shoot you, shove past me, then I heal you. And then you wave at me. So I took the mod indicator that it'd be made known that someone helped you out. Was that not the case?

Ye have enemies? Good, good - it means ye've stood up for something, sometime in thy life. - Elminster of Shadowdale
That was something else I wondered about, also. Treigit's action there really confused me. Getting saddled with 'all of your posts have to be 50 words' seriously sucked for me. My role was lame.
While BMM was mostly derived from general sci-fi nonsense, this game was derived from my old love for mystery novels - I was a serious Agatha Christie aficionado in middle school - and the resulting flavor. As for the roles, this game was intended to be more of a random mafia game, and it ended up turning out a lot like Elegant Mafia.
And if anyone noticed, the bar scene is derivative from Chuck Palahniuk's Lullaby, and there's an easter egg in there for CP fans.
Design
The game was constructed primarily as an anti-metagaming game. It also derived some of its mechanical structure from Elegant Mafia - a small mafia, a strong 3rd-party scum, a town with some good roles and some roles that hurt itself. Plus, with 2 docs, 2 vigs, no real cop (but plenty of pseudo-investigative roles), no RB, and plenty of opportunity for the SK to recruit a townie, the town I felt was fighting an uphill battle. And while it appears there are a lot of confirmables, there really aren't so much: the masons hate each other, the docs and vigs counter-claim each other, the investigative roles are pansies. Really, the most confirmable role in the game is carrion pigeons'.
But I can understand why the small-mafia with a lot of abilities concept is generally looked down upon. I felt like the mafia would be able to invest its abilities well, but they really didn't; arimnaes never watched anyone who did anything, loran didn't last long, etc. etc. Plus, DYH got screwed over by recruiting Rafaelk (who was the game's 3rd vig, in a sense).
Looking forward
I'm thinking I will abandon Normals in the future. My problem here was I tried to transfer some of the concepts from Blood Moon into a normal game, while toning down some of the more egregious roles. Of course, I then proceeded to include a Jester. And I'm really sorry about that.
Odds are, I will list again for Mini, but it'll be for a vanilla game, partially to save myself the strain of writing PMs (what with TFC coming up) and to see how it turns out. This game probably should have been relegated to the scrap pile, or seriously toned down; indeed, after the Jester fiasco I basically threw out a Mini setup I'd produced, because it had too many "strange" roles. Ah well.
MVPs
Mafia: Obviously Cyan.
Town: Pod. In spite of being here for only two weeks, he pulled the town out of a 3 townies, mafioso, SK position where I figured the town was doomed with brilliant analysis.
Honorable mention goes to DYH, who gave the town a fighting chance by killing two mafiosos in a row, then getting blown up by AI so Cyan could finish the job.
Special Award: Best PM: HAWKEYE7.

You head back to the bar, clutching a bottle of gin and a headache. What a mess.
Fortunately, you've found in life that two things always made it a bit better: vodka and suspects, and tonight, you find yours rather quickly, as AlphaInsidious walks into the bar. You've seen him before, and you knew the last time that he was a bad news brother. This time, however, he's got a more sinister look in his eye.
"What can I do for you, pal?" you ask, a bit nervous.
"I could use that bottle of gin you've got there," he says in a flat tone. Your hand instinctively flies to your empty gun holster, and you silently swear, before slowly handing over the bottle.
Alpha undoes the top and takes a long drink. You stare. "How do you do that? By my fifth, I'm usually nearly dead."
He grins. "Because I've got a job to do." Lightning fast, he swings the bottle toward your head. Falling from your stool, the last thing you see is his face, as he laughs maniacally. Looks like this is one detective who won't be sitting at bars anymore.
It's funny.
I didn't feel a thing.
Oh, there was a bump when the bottle hit me but, no pain.
The other thing that was funny, was how long it took to hit the floor. I mean, my life didn't flash before my eyes or anything, but the sure was enough time for it to have. On the way down that is.
....I can see the blood, my blood, forming a growing pool that my head is probably the center of. Wow,.....it's growing, fast.

Sigh..whatever.
There were two vanillas, they just had abilities they didn't know about. That's why NA was lynched.
But I can understand your reaction. In reality, the mafia played a rather good game; they got screwed over by losing three of their members in a row thanks to DYH. Them's the breaks. I do hope you'll join one of my games that is reviewed, though, like TFC.
And apparently, Kraj had absolutely no way of winning the game? Nice job, Xyre. How was DYH supposed to win, also? Seriously, did you have ANYONE read over this game setup before you submitted it?
The fact that investigations get through against Niv..just hilarious.
The idea behind Kraj was that he'd react like anyone would, a la "an investigateable untargetable? Huh?" and get him lynched.
DYH's win condition is the standard SK win condition: kill all non-SKs. Basically, the idea was DYH and his partner would be like a second pseudo-mafia. I'll edit that into his PM.
The game itself should prove as evidence that Bart Simpson was not ever going to get lynched. Niv acted pretty much as scummily as possible, especially as the game got late, and it didn't matter. I had literally a mountain of evidence against him. As soon as he claimed Bart Simpson, he was clear. And as untargetable *and* having outside confirmation, an SK was never, ever going to get him killed. Seriously, why would Kraj get someone lynched if *Krajs* role PM clearly indicated that person as town. Ironically, the way it was worded, there was actually NO doubt that Niv was town. I figured it said something like. 'All the scum must die. Additionally, you must kill Bart Simpson'. But saying 'All the scum AND Bart Simpson' must die is complete and utter confirmation for Niv.
And in reality, there were no Vanillas. Granted, GT knew he had been recruited, and should have just..claimed some other non-vanilla role. But to tell a person that their role is 'Vanilla with a PR' is just unfair to them. At the least, he should have known his real ability, and had the choice as to whether or not to reveal it. No one believes claims that are strictly worse than Vanilla, and no one believed GT's claim because he was the only claimed Vanilla.
I hate to harp on you, Xyre, because I like you alot and enjoy playing with you, but you did a really bad job designing this game, Xyre, and I'm really disappointed. The mafia *never* had a real chance to win this game. Incidentally, had there been a mass claim on Day 1 like WoD wanted, the town would have won the game right then and there. The scum roles had nothing going for them, and AI's kills hiding information hurt the mafia as much as the town. I've seen more games by you than by most people..you should have known better.
Some fun roles in this game. I don't really feel like I was bastard-modded, it was more of a delicious challenge. I suppose it might have been a better move not to reveal what I new about Niv, but I figured confirming him as townie would have made him a prime scum target. ...which apparently wouldn't have helped.
This game taught me an important lesson about the danger of overconfidence with a confirmable role. Despite the missteps I made, I have to ask, does anyone else think the case against me day one was made into a much bigger deal than was warranted? I thought I gave enough reasonable explanations for my actions, and I think it's pretty insane that I was lynched while claiming an easily confirmable role. I just don't get how that even happens.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
@Kraj: You clearly should have at least said SOMETHING when SB claimed Vig. It's not exactly rational to think that a game is going to have 2 Vigs. That is really what condemned you, more than anything else. And I would have been thrilled had you not revealed what you did about Niv, heh. But why wouldn't you, even if you're getting lynched as town, you still want the town to win.
We killed AI because he only lurks that much when he's a power role (usually doc, he's been it way more than any normal player, lol) or scum. As a vanilla townie, he's typically very vocal.
Arimnaes was another either/or case. I thought he either had a guilty on Cyan and was the cop, or he was scum pushing to drive a mislynch (at the time).
Once the Vampyr wagon finished (I didn't intend to railroad you, Vamp, I simply left my vote there in hopes the town would speedlynch you Had they not, I definitely was looking to unvote.) I knew Cyan was scum. That's why I ended up dead. Such is life!
@GT: I thought you played very well in Raf's stead - good game.
The town won this game because Pod stepped in, no doubt. Good work as always.
@Cubus: It's just circumstance. I went after Loran..because I had to. He acted like scum. I would never have gotten into it w/ Arimnaes had he not forced my hand.
As for WS Mafia..Nymphe acted as scummy as humanly possible, even after he claimed, where he claimed..my role! Obviously I had to point that out.
@Kraj: You clearly should have at least said SOMETHING when SB claimed Vig. It's not exactly rational to think that a game is going to have 2 Vigs. Agreed, i think this was the SINGLE thing that killed you. When i claimed my vig role, you should have made SOME comment you could refer back to and could say "Well, i said this". Something that wouldnt out you, but would still show that you awknowledged it and might have found it suspicious.

The reason why I keep calling it a railroading is because you and Cyan really blew that comment way out of proportion. It just happened that Niv and WoD mailed their votes in, BT screwed up and I still don't understand Treigit's reason for voting me there.
But I wasn't able to overcome the arguments of two excellent players. C'est la vie.

I don't get why people think that including 2 Docs is going to result in one of them getting killed. The town is almost always going to try and work out whether or not they are town, and when they do(it has happened this way everytime I've seen), it's always huge boon for them.
That's an interesting take on the SK win condition. I've always understood the SK win condition to be that they have to be the last man standing. I guess that at least it was possible for them to win, in that case.
DotA was an abomination of a game though, in fairness. That is another game that was grossly favored towards the town, the scum just lucked out there. I dunno, I just feel like '2 Docs' has gotten used too much lately.
We live in a country were ~50% of the populace believe public schooling is a socialist conspiracy and that being called Einstein is an insult. We could try and fix it, but unfortunately the other 50% don't believe in euthanasia.
The game itself should prove as evidence that Bart Simpson was not ever going to get lynched. Niv acted pretty much as scummily as possible, especially as the game got late, and it didn't matter. Honestly, I think that was awful play, and I'd be recommending Kraj for blacklisting unless I thought there was the possibility he was trying to get the bart simpson killed for being confirmed. You just do not confirm the innocence of someone you need dead to win the game. It's directly in contradiction with your win condition, and you can't attempt to balance that crap.yep. I think it was understandable, but I wouldn't have gone for it.
I'm a little late in addressing this as I had a minor emergency occur. This I find completely unreasonable. I don't see what Kraj did as being even close to blacklistable. I'd expect a townie that's going down to reveal such information, unless specifically forbidden to do so. Heck, it happened in Kung Fu mafia.
To me, having to kill a townie is a secondary win condition behind killing the scum. If you can't fulfill the secondary WC, then do your best to kill the scum off.

I don't think it's blacklistable or anything. Kraj essentially gave up his own ability to win the game in order to help the town win.(If he had died w/o confirming Niv, Niv would absolutely have gotten lynched at some point, and Kraj would have won). That's his own right to do, even though it seems silly and contradictory.

(3 to lynch)
GiftsTrix - 3 (Pod, Cyan, GiftsTrix)

"So that's it, then?" he says.
"Wasn't he sure there was another mafioso, though?" Treigit says, thoughtfully.
Realization flows across your faces. The four of you remaining step back and examine each other. Apparently, the job isn't done; it's just almost there.
But the truth remains: it's not over yet.

Vote Cyan
and it's all up to BT/pod I hope you make the right choice.
Millionaires, I hear it's good Music (Disclaimer: lyrics not PG-13) Thanks, CC
Case closed.
there are two options if you claim to have got a investigation in on me(from my pov), 1. your lying or 2. X bastard modded me. i highly doubt the latter, therefore it should be obvious that you recive a result from me, that i belive your lying, espcially with my vote for you.
unless your forgetting that you have not been cleared in the least. cop des noting right now.
IMO it should have been. and will firmly belive that forever.
I was bieng pressured, what would you have done. apparentally everyone didn't see what I saw
Yes they were going to be lynched. however it's a strech that i'd have planned it all out? the fact that you go through all this to try and pin me is all insanity.
It's my freeking role. what more am i to do?
That imo was terrible play. if you were really the cop you would have vesti'd me, and if you were really the cop you'd have got n result tonight.
I don't know why X sent me that pm, ask him after the game.
Look at the diffrence between the kills that had to have been venom (the ones that hit AI and arm) and the ones that differ from that style. Suth clearly fits in with the mo of those kills.
Your not a cop, however well you've played, and you are lying about having hit me last night.
I figured it was bv. that you were lying, however having seen this wall of text that you though youd try and incriminate, i figured i'd humer the final mafia member and debunk your BS
I really shouldn't have to go into the fact that there is no freeking reason for kraj to have said what he did if i wasn't town. inless you belive that X is a bastard mod, then my role is either Nutral survivor ot town, and if i was nutral survivor, you'd have alreddy won the game as mafia with me surviving to the end, therefore i'm town
even using this logic, I'm still town by kraj's info, i dont see where this was going.
No, but nice try scum.
Millionaires, I hear it's good Music (Disclaimer: lyrics not PG-13) Thanks, CC
You can't just say that someone is lying and not try to prove it. That doesn't mean anything. I have laid out, carefully and thoroughly, exactly how you worked everything out, and I have *caught* you in a lie. The difference is like night and day.
Forever? Clearly, you didn't even 'believe' it enough the very next day. You accomplished exactly what you needed to. You bought yourself a day, except it didn't work out like you had planned.
If you were as confident in your townieness as you claim, you clearly would have stood your ground. But you weren't, because you know that you are not, in fact, town. You folded under that pressure like a lawn chair. If you were being truthful, this never should have happened.
Please.
Clearly it's not, or we wouldn't be having this conversation! It's the role that you false claimed, and hoped would go the distance. But not on my watch.
I investigated the person that I thought was the correct target. How was I supposed to know that you were going to kill him? I didn't figure that part out until much later(recently). Besides, if I had investigated you yesterday, there would be no difference here, except that I'd be having this conversation with GT instead of you.
Nice deflection.
Nice Cover.
On the contrary. This logic allows for you to be mafia. If Kraj's condition is that *he* has to be the one to kill you, which is..what he said(admittedly, he could have just phrased it that way), this doesn't clear you at all.
It's disappointing that this is all you could come back with. It's a fact that you are scum, and I have provided any number of circumstances to accomodate this. But all you can do is throw mud. Just face it, your gambit has run it's course. You're not winning this game, scum.
It seems like there was one more, but I can't remember it and can't find it, sorry.
the only thing i have thought of since my last post is this, if we look at that elabroate case you made. it is so far streching that it would make more sence as you as scum, playing it like that so that I never get confirmed, it almost feels, reading your supposed plan, that you planned that out to try and pin me.
If you (and the sk apparently) dont kill suth, i get confirmed.
then you kill tri so that you can false claim that you got a result on me. the only other person in the game that still isn't fully confirmed (apparently.)
I know that, Cyan, i won convince you that you are mafia, however, i think that you are in the gt senario:
it seams like it is frustrating cyan you have played an amazing game. however, you say however in reallity, yuo have only turned in inocents. you claimed to have had guiltys on dead people. you have only proven that you are either cop, lr scum with inside info.
Millionaires, I hear it's good Music (Disclaimer: lyrics not PG-13) Thanks, CC
(2 to lynch)
Niv - 1 (Cyan)
Cyan - 2 (Niv, Pod)
It reads:
rows of houses all bearing down on me
i can feel their blue hands touching me
all these things in all positions
all these things will one day take control
and fade out again and fade out
this machine will will not communicate these thoughts
and the strain i am under
be a world child form a circle before we all go under
and fade out again and fade out again
cracked eggs dead birds
scream as they fight for life
i can feel death can see it's beady eyes
all these things into frution
all these things we'll one day swallow whole
and fade out again and fade out again.

Sigh..whatever.

The fact that investigations get through against Niv..just hilarious.

Okay, the 800 pound gorilla.
Charles Dickens
Pretty much a MacGuffin. Sorry, Cyan.
Alberto Gonzales
I was really disappointed I didn't get to write the flavor for his arrest-scene.
Venom
Yes, I broke canon. So sue me. I was really proud of this role and its design, but DYH had the poor luck to recruit the second-worst-possible role in Rafk (the worst would have been NA, of course).
Thom Yorke
I was disappointed that Sutherlands never got the gist of his role. He was more of a flavor cop (although I did make some of the mafia dead giveaways, like AI, to compensate). But he invested most of the potential on letting players create false-claims like DYH, then not press them on it.

Oops?
BTW, pretty funny to have Cyan as the last surviving mafia in both of my games at the same time (TV and this one).

Flavor
Return commentary
There were two vanillas, they just had abilities they didn't know about. That's why NA was lynched.
But I can understand your reaction. In reality, the mafia played a rather good game; they got screwed over by losing three of their members in a row thanks to DYH. Them's the breaks. I do hope you'll join one of my games that is reviewed, though, like TFC.

She knows why.

As for WS Mafia..Nymphe acted as scummy as humanly possible, even after he claimed, where he claimed..my role! Obviously I had to point that out.

Well, yeah. Pod really turned the game around for the town.
To wit, here're the ways the mafiosos died:
loran - lynch
arimnaes - DYH
AI - DYH
DYH - AI, then Cyan
Cyan - lynch
GiftsTrix - lynch
The last two probably wouldn't have been dealt with had Pod not come around.
