...Are we sure it's Gravegill Axeshark and not Gravelgill?

No problem thank you very much for the cards.

Quote:
Old Ghastbark (c)
3{G/W}{G/W}
Treefolk Warrior
3 / 6
Can be decent in limited as a creature to really clog up the ground, but even thennothing too exciting

Quote:
Safehold Duo (c)
3{G/W}
Elf Warrior Shaman
Whenever you play a green spell, Safehold Duo gets + 1 / + 1 until end of turn.
Whenever you play a white spell, Safehold Duo gains vigilance until end of turn.
2 / 4
Well there is another duo. Quite good in limited, vigilance on a relevant body and the green part makes your tricks a bit more stronger.

Quote:
Armored Ascension (u)
3{W}
Enchantment Aura
Enchant creature
Enchanted creatures gets + 1 / + 1 for each plains you control and has flying.
A blanchwood armor for white for 1 mana more + flying. I think with this set you have to possibly to draft mono and there it can be a house. Will see some casual constructed play too, perhaps more if we finally see some good support for auras, but I doubt it.

Quote:
Thornwatch Scarecrow (c)
6
Artifact creature Scarecrow
Thornwatch Scarecrow has wither as long as you control a green creature.
Thornwatch Scarecrow has vigilance as long as you control a white creature.
4 / 4

Rattleblaze Scarecrow (c)
6
Artifact creature Scarecrow
Rattleblaze Scarecrow has persist as long as you control a black creature.
Rattleblaze Scarecrow has haste as long as you control a red creature.
5 / 3
I guess they are good in limited if you can enable both bonuses (bonii bona ?)

Quote:
Gravegill Axeshark (c)
4{U/B}
Merfolk Soldier
Persist
3 / 3
Ugh looks overcosted but I am not sure how good persist actually is (in limited). Also the set seems to be giving plenty of soldiers to throw into play with the Preeminent Captain (for strictly causal of course).

Quote:
Ashenmoor Cohort (c)
5{B}
Elemental Warrior
Ashenmoor Cohort gets + 1 / + 1 as long as you control another black creature.
4 / 3

*Yes, this is the worst card of the set*
Well at least it is better than Bog Hoodlums. I hope nothing worse than this comes from the set.

Quote:
Viridescent Wisps (c)
{G}
Instant
Target Creature becomes green and gets + 1 / + 0 until end of turn.
Draw a card.
Well a fun little cycle. Will definitely be played in limited as a minor trick that cantrips and can enable both the duo and the scarecrow abilities for a turn but with the surprise factor added.

I like the wither Scarecrow. Actually, I just really like Wither.

Armored Ascension doesn't seem white at all.

I have to say - this has been an interesting season. WoTC has done an amazing job holding the lid on this set. Wizards pwns MtGS and the Rumor Mill! The most interesting thing to see is how they have let the cards get through, with last Friday's FNM pizza and a pack party being quite novel. Am waiting to see what's still up their sleeves from a viral marketing standpoint.

WotC
lol.

It's amazing that you assume that just because the full spoiler isn't completed yet that WOTC had anything to do with it. The only way WOTC could stop us from knowing the entire spoiler list before the PR is if they stop sending cards out before the PR. Simply put, as long as they continue to distribute product before the PR, we'll have the spoiler done on time, everytime!

Smile, you're on candid camera.

The Thorn scarecrow shows that wither is indeed a green ability. This is an interesting thing. Green could become a bit more tactical with Lure effects...

Though maybe not. It would be cool though :P

but scarecrows are colorless and by his cmc he has all 5 colors, so either he doesnt have the strange 10 cmc or isn't a scarecrow.

They're pretty "blah", and expected to be honest, but then again we knew most of the commons were going to care about "played X color" more than anything else.

Most likely the rest of the Wisp cycle is going to be "ick" as well, if the green one is that lackluster. I was thinking that would be the red one, personally...

Good lord, we're finally starting to see (assuming the info is accurate) the chaff from the set. I was afraid it would never surface!

Old Ghastbark (c)
3{G/W}{G/W}
Treefolk Warrior
3 / 6

Redwood Treefolk redone. Slightly worse of a green card, but breaks new ground for white. Not that white needs a 3/6 for ... It's vanilla though, and I'm partial to vanilla (when it comes to cards). So I like him.

Safehold Duo (c)
3{G/W}
Elf Warrior Shaman
Whenever you play a green spell, Safehold Duo gets + 1 / + 1 until end of turn.
Whenever you play a white spell, Safehold Duo gains vigilance until end of turn.
2 / 4

Actually fairly solid. A 4/6 with the Liege out. And will regularly be that big anyway because you'll be dropping green spells. The vigilance will help it in limited. Three relevant creature types.

Armored Ascension (u)
3{W}
Enchantment Aura
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature gets + 1 / + 1 for each plains you control and has flying.

Wow, nasty! In many decks, beats out Serra's Embrace and other pumping auras. Could turn a Knight of Meadowgrain into a 7/7 flying first strike spiritlinker. Fragile as any other aura, but it might get some help from that rumoured white enchantment that makes auras shrouded.

Thornwatch Scarecrow (c)
6
Artifact creature Scarecrow
Thornwatch Scarecrow has wither as long as you control a green creature.
Thornwatch Scarecrow has vigilance as long as you control a white creature.
4 / 4

Oh.... wither is green? That's odd. Really odd. Perhaps every colour gets a little bit of it. Anyway, not impressed by the card. Lets you do weird things with hybrid creatures (play a deck with nothing but Forests, and get both bonuses by having a hybrid in play, etc). Meh.

Rattleblaze Scarecrow (c)
6
Artifact creature Scarecrow
Rattleblaze Scarecrow has persist as long as you control a black creature.
Rattleblaze Scarecrow has haste as long as you control a red creature.
5 / 3

Seems slightly better than the other scarecrow, but overall scarecrows seem to suck.

Gravegill Axeshark (c)
4{U/B}
Merfolk Soldier
Persist
3 / 3

So persist can be a dimir mechanic too eh? Some people were arguing that it would only be selesnya.

Ashenmoor Cohort (c)
5{B}
Elemental Warrior
Ashenmoor Cohort gets + 1 / + 1 as long as you control another black creature.
4 / 3

Wow, a 5/4 (sometimes) for only six mana, sign me up!

Viridescent Wisps (c)
{G}
Instant
Target Creature becomes green and gets + 1 / + 0 until end of turn.
Draw a card.

* rancored_elf coughs and gags *

Oh, wow, look what they did! Made half an Aggressive Urge!?! Bravo.

Thanks for reporting

Ready for the preview card(s) tonight?

The persist theme deck is {ub}, so I think persist will mostly be {ub}

Where were you in the other thread when everyone was saying Safehaven Elite (or whatever the 2/2 Elf Scout for is called) has to have persist, because persist is the selesnya keyword?

I have to agree with Mr. elf. Persist seems to be shared across all the colors. Heck, the first preview card Wizards gave us with Persist was green (Woodfall Primus and excluding the artifact creature).

That said, I'm actually excited about the "Wisp" cycle. They seem very efficient and can help eek out that win in limited. Probably not constructed worthy, but cantrips for 1 CMC are always good times.

A theme's deck colors are not necessarily an indication of what colors will get a mechanic (Altough they could be). For example the storm theme deck was UW even though Storm was in a lot of colors. In some cases they do give a good indication in which colors the mechanic is concentrated like Ninjitsu.

But as we saw from cards the mechanic is all over the place. That said it is quite possible that the mechanic will be heavier in UB, and the precon will be concentrating on those.
