I think I agree that the 5cc kill spell and Torture shouldn't count as black's removal for this set.

That being said, this is decent for very specific situations (like Teeg), but Condemn is basically better all around.

I was a fan of this card when it first came out, the power level of today is much different than before but this card is still useful. I'm not sure of its applications in constructed, but it's definitely playable in limited.

The only competition with this card is Crib Swap since every other white removal card requires you to attack/block except the new targeted edict of course.

Speaking of true removal not pacifism style stuff.

I too will be sorely disappointed if black doesn't get better removal than the crap it has now in this set.
This spell is cool for white though, I just wish they would stop giving white remove from the game kill spells, it forces black to take the brunt of the "make regeneration good" movement by losing the anti-regen clause on all it's spells while white spells remain at previous power levels.

You realize how ridiculously good Swords to Plowshares is when you consider that Last Breath is playable despite being such a nerfed version of StP.

"fixed" equals "sorcery" in R&D's dictionary

Well I was trying to make it just like swords except for mana cost concerns. Sorcery would probably make it a WW spell or something.

So the entire card fits the orb?

As an aside, I added Valleymaker to the spoiler, BUT I would love if someone could dig through the p/t's and figure out which ones we haven't assigned to cards yet...so I can give the card a power/toughness.

In constructed, I'm pretty sure I'd always want O-ring and Condemn over this. Actually, with all the big dumb beatsticks around, I'd also play Temporal Isolation over this...

"Last" and "Breath" get one hit each. "2 or less" and "target creature with power" get no hits. =o.O=;

Edit: That said, I'm not sure how well the Orb works, so take what I say with some salt.

As long as each and every word in the rules text actually shows up the the Orb, there is a chance. You can't use phrases with the orb though; it doesn't recognize spaces.

This would be a good removal, but at common? Frankly, after seeing some of the cards in the set, I have a feeling now that Wizards have badly screwed up the rarity distribution. Case in point: This as common despite its power, and Reknit at uncommon despite it being single-targetting (compared to Wrap in Vigor, which is COMMON and helps every single creature you control). A few more cards also feel like they are in wrong rarity levels....

Oh, is that what I did wrong? I'll throw the whole Oracle wording of Last Breath at the Orb and see if I get any 0s then. One sec.

Edit: Nope, no zeros. The lowest is "from", with four hits.

Reknit could save planeswalkers, enchantments, artifacts and lands too. I think it's uncommon for it's versatility, not for it's strenght.
