A boulder hurled itself across the barren clearing and crashed into the ground. Will had always been ambivalent about war. Year ago, she would condemn it, noting that the Nomeni were capable of more subtle arts. Now she knew its necessity and understood that the Sancti were bloodthirsty warmongers; the ones who took her parents’ lives and her arm. Still, war took lives and she had experienced the cost of war. Her frustration was insurmountable as the accendo pulsed through her, funneling her anger into the earth. Will needed a moment to cool down before she made any decisions.
Will was at the training site. A big rock in front of her, she positioned her
steel fist at it. Taking a quick thrust at it, there was a dent that soon exploded the rock. She smiled, oh she wished she could do that to all those who did this to her, and her family. She wanted to make them pay ten fold.
Her mind was made up... she wanted vengeance. After the speech there was a group of students in their traditional black robes looking for recruits into the Nomeni's forces. It was time for Will to find one of them.
She left the training grounds as he sought for a way to join the army. She wanted to put her skills in good use, not just brooding over the loss of her loved ones and taking it out on rocks.
Swarmed by a small crowd of people, there was a a student adorned in black taking applications underneath a tree a good distance away from the clearing.
Someone tapped her on the back and she turned to see another student with his hood off. He was short but strong and his face was young but had the etchings of wisdom on it. "I couldn't help but notice you vent your frustrations in the clearing there. You have tremendous potential but do you have the resolve that it takes to enlist?"
"I just enquired because you seem impatient. Haste is the enemy of the Nomeni and rashness shows no appreciation for Disegreth. If you truly wish to serve us, then follow me"
"I am a student of the Immortalis" he explained as they continued walking. The air was humid and rain was on its way. They passed a group of wind adepts playing a game in which they 'flew' on the currents they created. "What happened to you arm?" he inquired rather innocently.
"Those Sancti warmongers did this to me...Many years ago..." she looked at the student. "My family and I... we never had any involvement with the war... but they came...razed our town... I saw my family butchered before me...they left me to rot while taking a trophy with them..." she looked at her metal hand, clenching it into a fist.
(I wanted to say something worse but that would get me banned)
"I... umm..." He stammered as random words dribbled out of his mouth, "I'm sorry to hear that. They had been walking for nearly 25 minutes and didn't seem to have progressed at all from where they started. Will thought she saw the same kids playing around in the wind.
Raising his eyebrow, the student responded, "What could you possibly ask me? My life has been rather dull before all this enlistment activity started happening."
"Boredom, mostly" replied the student, obviously trying to leave his answer open to interpretation, "and my name is Gohael."
He smirked, "since I've got nothing better to do tonight, who don't we play a little game?"
"It's called 20 questions, though the number is misleading at times" he stated, "We take turns asking each other questions but you have to answer honestly. You can start with th first question. Ask away. "
He hesitated with his reply, "enough..."
Gohael asked the hardest questions first, "What is your greatest fear?"
OOC: (Will do. Right now my internet connection is crap, so loading images is brutal but I'll check it out within the next couple of days when I get home."
"If they were foolish enough to come into our territory, I would watch the younger recruits fight them and see which ones survived. It would certainly make my job easier." The sad part was that he was totally serious.
"You said that you don't want to lose any more loved ones. Who have you loved before?"
Still, war took lives and she had experienced the cost of war. Her frustration was insurmountable as the accendo pulsed through her, funneling her anger into the earth. Will needed a moment to cool down before she made any decisions.
