It was early morning when Rakin left his home and the rain was beginning to come down heavier. The earth accendo was weak on this day but it was enough for him to fashion a makeshift dome over top of him so that he could remain dry. It had been a ritual for him to walk every morning so that he could not only measure the accendo on any given day but also so that he could see what people were talking about. On this day, however, it took no amount of observational skills to know that everyone was talking about the speech of the Immortalis. He himself had been thinking about the exact same thing and was conflicted as to if he should take an aggressive role and crusade against the Sancti or a more defensive role, protecting those who were injured or weak.
Rakin was truly conflicted. Should he enter into battle with his comrades to prevent future threat of the Sancti, or should he defend what's in front of him? His thoughts fell and flowed through his mind like the rain around him did. He decided to travel, for preventing the greater threat needed to happen now. The other threats... well, there'd be less when he came back. And anyways, there was a way to travel from here... his mind was made up.
It was traditional to officially enlist with on of the Immortalis students. Then again, Rakin was never one for tradition. He opted to use his craft for defence rather than offence and chose the life of a nomad rather than that of an ascetic. He chose to help his comrades as a traveller, not as a warrior. A risky decision, but a necessary and suitable one for him.
The entourage that he chose to follow was a training and sparring crew and they chose the mountains to train in. This was perfect terrain for Rakin as mountains never seemed to lack accendo. It would be a good chance to train himself and make sure he was ready for any outside threats and as they marched, he walked parallel to them, careful not to be seen. Small stones were raining down on Rakin, mixing with the actual rain to make a sludgy mess.
Since his makeshift umbrella was failing him, Rakin released his accendo, nimbly escaping before the muddy earth crumbled. He continued the trek up the mountain, feeling the accendo gaining strength.
The rain had drenched some of the areas and loose rock fell. One made a loud thud as it collided with a fallen tree. One of the members of the party below him looked up, pulling up his hands in the manner that could only represent one thing: summoning his accendo.
Rakin tensed, letting the accendo flow through him in case he had to defend himself. At the same time, he adressed the accendo user. "Please, do not attack! I am Rakin, a Nomeni, who has come by different channels and ways to fight our enemy the Sancti! I am not here to attack, only to defend and protect!"
Rakin replied, "No, sir! I followed the first party I saw, sir- I mean no enmity! I am here to fight the Sancti, same as you, but in a different manner!"
His words weren't very convincing and the leader remained resolute, "the Nomeni have set parties for a reason and we do not appreciate unsolicited advice. We are about to Cross the threshold into the Dead Zone and I highly doubt that you're prepared for what that feels like."
